Christmas Eve here and I wanted to get me some KFC, but they had me wait for 25 minutes for fried chicken. That's OK cause I wanted KFC for Christmas Eve. Turned out after 20 minutes, they said the same thing. "Can you wait for 25 minutes?" I was like what?!? You said 25 minutes, 20 minutes ago. I walked out. Oh well, no KFC tonight. Home now, listening to Tatsuro Yamashita's Christmas Eve and having TV dinner. Merry Christmas everyone! Merry Christmas Danny San!

EDIT: I meant I'd also like to recommend. But yeah, check that out. Pretty awesome place to stay in Shinjuku.

Dude, you know a lot about Shinjuku, I know. We've talked before but I also like to recommend Shinjuku Washington hotel. It's cheap, modern and clean. Plus a nice bar. 5 min walk to Shinjuku station.

That's the only line I know. lol And the other one to Minato Mirai. I guess it's called Minato Mirai line.

Notable memories of me visiting Shinjuku: 1. A sushi bar that has over 100 selections of sushi with Kamen Rider V3 figure on the countertops. 2. Always get lost at the station. So many lines there but always fun and always found something new to see. 3. An American street performer from Los Angeles in front of Shinjuku Station at the East exit playing live music. 4. A poster of Suzuki Ichiro (Seattle Mariners baseball player) for Suntory beer in the hotel bar. 5. Sitting at the New York bar at Park Hyatt Shinjuku and see Tokyo 360 degree from the 52 floor. 2,200 JPY cover charge. That's where Bill Murray met Scarlett Johansson for the first time in Lost in Translation. Live American Jazz band. That was pretty cool.

Agreed. The manga is a lot better than the anime. I also loved reading Kenshiro back in the 80's. My friend's brother was a big fan of Kenshiro and he had a ton of Fist of the North Star manga. He even had Kenshiro's hairdo back then.

I remember when Uwajimaya (our local Japanese grocery store here) teamed up with KOMO 4 news, one of the TV stations here to raise money for the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami victims. They had this station in front of the store and they raised money for the American Red Cross. So much love for Japan from the Pacific Northwest here. I saw many people donated $100, $200 or some people even gave out $500 to $1,000. It's hard to look at these pictures again today. It's even harder to watch the videos. I did come across very interesting film by PalladiumBoots and I'd like to share it with you all. This is the film that features Pharrell Williams taking you through Japan which he called his second home. This is Japan after the 3/11. He spent time talking to Verbal (m-flo). He went into the Saitama underground tunnel with Yuka Uchida. That's very interesting. The underground tunnel under soccer field in Saitama. He did go and talked to a lot of people in art and music field. Very good documentary. There are 5 parts. Here's the link to part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC9gXwOaFKE&feature=relmfu

Be careful. That's my ear you're playing with there.

Looks pretty much like the one at REI in Seattle, Danny. Drive by that place almost everyday.

I recommend this hotel. MartinRobin, you mistyped the name. It's Shinjuku Washington. I stayed there in Oct/Nov 2009. It was clean and the price was great. 5 minute walk to Shinjuku Station. I found the deal on Expedia and it was like $88/night. It was really a little bit more than $100/night but I got one night free so it ended up being just $88/night. Two photos of the room that I stayed. http://i.imgur.com/Zmlto.jpg http://i.imgur.com/x7VUv.jpg

This would be a good place to test the tilt-shift app for iOS devices.

Yea, that's kinda weird. But now you can order the same dock that they use at Apple store. Here's the link http://bit.ly/945Vkz

What a journey, Danny. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. You're awesome!!!

LOL, Lost in Translation made me want to go to Japan too. I went to the bar on top of Park Hyatt Tokyo in Shinjuku. That's where Bill Murray met Scarlett Johansson in the movie. LOL

Nice view from Beacon Hill here. If you miss the view, here's the night view from the same spot, Danny http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/Ddbfa66d/01205_cloudcover_1680x1050.jpg

At this rate, I won't be surprised that one day some airlines would call him up and pay him to itasha mirai-chan on their airplanes. I mean with his attitude and his life philosophy, anything is possible.

  • 發表了評論 on 2011/05/05 15:06

Yea, if ANA can put Gundam on a Boeing 777-300, why not mirai-chan, huh? http://www.ana.co.jp/dom/promotion/gundam/

Ah, that explains it. I really like the two films with Samuel L. Jackson. He's great as Afro Samurai and Ninja Ninja. Also Kelly Hu and Lucy Liu have hot voices. lol Thanks.

  • 發表了評論 on 2011/05/04 13:06

The only one dubbed anime I have seen is Afro Samurai and I don't think I want to see it with subs. I mean Samuel L. Jackson, Kelly Hu and Lucy Liu, they really did a very good job on this one.

When I looked at these pictures, I thought about the movie right away. The outdoor setting reminds me of the outdoor setting in Perfect Blue. That is a great movie.

Yes. It says "be full and delicious". Wonder what they have there. Looks like they're doing pretty well there. Must be really good.
