"Hatsu Moude" is where folks flock to a shrine to wish for good luck and a prosperous new year around the 1st 2nd and 3rd of January. Famous shrines like Meiji Jingu are jam packed full of people on these dates as you can see from these photos. I usually go with the family to a local shrine which isn't so packed and didnt really feel like going to Meiji Jingu due to the crowds (have an allergy to crowds). But after my wife told me that she would put a limit on the Bishojo figures that I could buy in 2006 - I decided it was wise to go.
