Rahter than Eigyou Men selling products we have ladies and gentlemen coming to your doorstep trying to promote their prospective religion. Just yesterday 2 guys wanted to introduce the 'book of mormon' to me. Friendly guys but it's not my cup of tea to procure my religion like that so I did friendly 'mani atteimasu' them. I don't live in Utah btw., I heard that this specific book is popular or am I mistaken?.

The Book of Mormon is one of the books of scripture (in addition to the Bible) used by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the "Mormons," which name comes from the name of that book. ^_^

Results on speedtest.net put my connection between 7 and 7.5mbps - and this is on the faster broadband network available in Australia. One of the joys of international travel for a lot of Australians seems to be getting to enjoy comparably blazing fast downloads from their hotel room. ^^;
Our government does have big plans for improving our connections with a brand new nation-wide network, but sadly they're also considering forcing a filter on us that will slow it right back down and block a lot more than just the genuinely block-worthy content.

internet speed (ADSL/cable) in singapore are generally pretty bad/expensive considering the offerings in S. Korea/Japan. I'm paying roughly 20 USD / month for a 3mbps line, ~ 300kb/s. I'm lucky if I hit just above 1Mb/s on DSL and yet pay over $50USD. There are only two providers here worth your time and one is the cable company that requires overly expensive package deals to get the fast connection AND not have a monthly cap, so i have to suffer with the slower DSL because having no cap is important to me. Hm, we have a 24mb(down)/1mb(up)DSL here. It works Decently I guess. I've never gotten close to actually having 24 mb downloads though. Mostly the fault of the web pages I'm loading from though I reckon. When I take something from a major company site it's blazing down to my HDD. It's kind of pricy though as we have one of the more pricy (but much more stable connections and less downtime) ISP's.
As for door knockers...
Well, I do get the occasional overly rude Jehova man whom insults me on every visit while i try to shoo him off in a good manner (while withholding my inner wish to stuff his nostrils with nendoroids.)

those are great upload speeds!
I live in an apartment so I'm on a shared pipe with hikari, even though we don't share the bills. When it gets busy, my speed drops tremendously.
do you have NGN, NeXT or whatever the new IPv6 network is called? I'm wondering if it's faster.
I'm paying about $50 a month for my service.

In Spain we don't really have that "door to door salesman" problem, we're all way to laid-back for that kind of job here, hahaha.
Also, what's it like having such a fast internet connection?
I, unfortunately, only have a 6Mb download speed and I'm paying about 70 - 80 euros a month for it. T_T (That's about $115 or ¥10000 a month. Cheap, huh? That's Spain for ya!!)

Jesus Christ, that's one fast connection you got there, Danny. My maximum is 320kb/s downstream and 30kb/s upstream. Paying approx $20 per month.

Here where I'm living the internet connection is fast and cheap, I pay 9 USD for 40Mb connection
the only downside is the upload speed which is pretty low.

My wires can only handle 1.25MB down...I live in a 1950s-vintage apartment building and the wiring is positively JURASSIC. I get my DSL from DSLExtreme here in LA but my "last mile" is handled by Verizon. We are NOT getting FiOS anytime soon around here...dammit. My connection is 1MB down 384Kbps up and about $20. Which is a good deal for LA.

33 Mb/s Down and a pitiful 2 Mb/s Up @ Time Warner/Road Runner cable
Currently satisfied, but contemplating a move to FiOS for some fiber cable action. ^.^

When sales people visit the company I work for there's usually one kareishu-smelling salaryman and a cute female shinnyushain. Great for the guy; terrible for the poor girl!

Your internet speed completely dominates mines. Fortunately, I was able to optimize the router to make the most of the internet. Now if only all the computers in my network ran on the Draft-N standard.

Hmmm, pay about the same price. I had read about the differences in broadband offerings between Japan and US. First time seeing a speedtest result. Really a bummer...

Cold calling is like being in the line of fire in a huge war battle gone terribly wrong. Most small businesses I've done involve cold calling. It's why I've never built myself into a large business concern. I plod through a few months, and throw in the towel. Good businesses. Quality products. Weak spine.
