The most I like about your blog danny is the part about Japan.
The events, the hilarious, the sad things
I really like your Photo Articles. Be it "A week in Tokyo" "A Day in Tokyo" or "Tokyo Photo Walk"
I can relax and dream while reading and watching this part of you blog. I don't like that the dolls get so much attention nowadays, but hey, its what you like and I don't have to read it ;)
It would be great if the Weekly Tokyo Articles gets published weekly but its just a matter of having time or not.
Also I would like to know why exactly you switched to Mac and what is so much better compared to Windows. I cannot recall to ever read anything about that.
Besides that I don't think dannychoo.com has to improve that much

      Hey, me too!

I first discovered Danny through the Tokyo Stormtrooper videos and it wasn't until much later that I found out he had a blog and I've been hooked ever since!

While I'm not a big fan of the figures and Dollfies and such, they are interesting to look at every once in awhile, especially if I'm a fan of the character.

The main thing that I would do if I could change one thing about DannyChoo.com would be to add proper names to each of the pictures as well as where the pictures took place (I'll be done in ten years lol!). I know Danny adds descriptions to most of them, but there are loads where I have no idea where the picture was taken. It gets really annoying trying to categorize the pictures I like when there's no description and the picture file's name is a bunch of random jibberish.

      Oh, and Kanade FTW!

Discovered dc.com by looking for ikea glass table, came out after a few pages and found the site.
After a bit of reading Japan articles I saw the table (coincidence), as it didn't come up at first, but only "ikea" something.
But who can resist jp articles when you dream about japan since a kid and studying for jlpt???

None of my friends know about this site, but I once read about a Storm trooper time before finding this site, and it all went into place. Every tile was with a name.
Being a Tokyo fan, it was easy to bookmark and start following daily. You have no idea how much japanese friends I left "how do you know that?" with ecchi stuff, dolls and my best, Tenga self-care tools.
Where are places and what you can expect to find there. Daily stuff etc.

I've found lots of valuable infos about living there, from a european mind point of view (since you are UK).
I can say I love this site, I like added external blog entries and other users' posts, which makes it very friendly to be here.

Prize is to have this site's soul never to vanish.
You managed to keep it human, even in bad times ;)
Only regret is that you have too much things to do now, so less time for "week/day in tokyo" series.
I wish I started to come here earlier, missed very interesting articles (all read by now).

I mostly come to the Danny Choo page to look at the figures and dolls. It helps me discover what figures are out there, and the nice clear images help me with my own figure purchasing decisions. The other generic "life in Japan" stuff is still interesting at times though. I found the DC page while searching Google for figure related material

While the DC page is really nice, I personally find it hard to navigate, even after months of using it. Sometimes I "find" my way to neat pages I need to bookmark or else I'd never find them again! pages that categorize all figures, or all female figures, or what not {wish I had more exact examples}. If not for the bookmarks I'd never locate these pages on DC again with the provided menus and links.

I remember the good old days of DannyChoo.com! I stumbled one here ever since Danny landed himself the PG Strike and I just followed from there on.

I'm here to look at what's interesting to me. certain cultures, news, figures and day in Tokyo etc. I don't post very often. But I'm here for sure! The site changed a couple of times and it took a couple of hours of getting used to. Its also nice and fun to contribute to DCcom which is makes me feel, happy. :3

I used to be active in Figure.fm, but lately, I don't have much to post on it hahaha. Made my first figure post on the new running site though! :3

    And, congratulations to FatB! XD

[yukino] Looks nice, I only have one statue figure (still boxed) which I like. :P Figma's and Gunpla kits is YAY!!

[yukino]I was first introduce to this page from a friend, while we were discussing Gundam building stuff. He mentioned the article about "Gundam building for the busy" - or something like that (I think I save it somewhere). I like here reading about figure related news, and reading the comments, most of it are hillarious!

Most of the navigation is really easy to do, imo, but I find looking for the older post is very hard, and some times the search engine won't give you good result if you don't know the exact keywords. Finding post from other member is even harder

    I find it interesting to read up on articles pertaining to the japanese/otaku culture, not to mention some of the fabulous photos that some of the members take of their figures. For instance, I've started using some of your photos of Tokyo as my background because of the way the composition comes out. It's really wanting me to get into photography, if I had the funds to get a decent camera and or model ^^;

Since the community is so free of flaming and whatnot, I find it quite relaxing to read up on what society thinks on certain topics as well as letting me know some of the quirks that are linked to the culture of japan.

I would like to know how to start making posts on the main page though, haven't quite figured that out yet. but I'll keep lurking for a little while longer while I figure that out.

Well, when I started comming here, it was about the figure news and reviews, and after that I basically always read almost every article, be it the Photo Walks, figure reviews or plain Japan information, as it is still a goal for me to be able to go to Japan someday. I have to be honest I do miss figure reviews, and I have not been reading all too often as many of the articles are about Dolfies, which even though I find interesting, it's just not my thing to own. I am very happy with my PVC's lol, can't spend on yet another type of figure.

i like a lot of stuffs here, the part of japan i didn't know before (and damn, i want to go to those awesome places, if i have the money to ;_;)
your photos are really nice as well, i enjoy looking at them (and yes, this also influencing me to buy a new camera, yet stumbled in fund problem again ^^;;;)
i'm not really into figure anymore, and usually i already found out about the news from somewhere else, also didn't want to peek into dolfie section to avoid me wanting one :P
the special things i want to add are your motivational topics, that moves my heart sometimes, and the opportunities of jobs that you offered from time to time, i think that's nice.
but above all of those stuffs i've written up there, i'm impressed by your blog because it really expressing yourself, yet you cared for opinions from your readers, like when you changed the layout and stuffs, you also give appreciations to your readers, like inviting them to events, or giveaways (like this one ^^)

what i want to see more is probably the motivational ones, i'm still young and i want to know your experiences, in bad times, and how do you cope with it, stay strong, and finally get a good outcome. I believe that'll be good for me to learn. keep on going, danny! :)

Hello there Danny, greets from cowboy town. I first came here after a long search for Anime figure reviews. But after seeing some of your other stories, I started to enjoy alot of your other posts as well. You life in Japan has become a high point as well as you posting about the food you order. I enjoy cooking, and it inspires me to try cooking a few things as well as try to find a few things in my area to try. I look forward to your Life in Japan post, but I still love reading your figure reviews and would love to see more of them.

I came to love DC when I was looking for Japanese bloggers on YT and Tokyo storm trooper popped up which let me to the DC site.

I love all the things about Japan. The week in Tokyo articles are definitely my fave. Sometimes there is a lil bit too much food pics for my preference in them. I like to see the street pictures with people walking and enjoying live.

I also like the figure articles and all the other otaku related material.

Started to come here every day after being in Japan. I've always been a fan of Japanese culture, movies and animation and I've collected a few figures in the past. But only after coming back from there I decided to further expand my passion.

Would love to see reply to comments notifications (it's hard to keep up with the replies, expecially on old posts)in the future and the ability to send private messsages to the users (i.e. a message centre) - not sure though if that idea has been looked into already and being discarded or not.

I’ve been a figure ota for quite sometime now and what initially attracted me to the site were the figure reviews and their pristine hi-res images. Doll Shows are my personal fav, never knew that so many people in Japan loved dolls.

One of the other reasons why I lurk around here is for the lifestyle news. I’ve never been to Japan (but hopefully one day), so these articles keep me in touch with the Japanese culture.

What else? Danny’s Tokyo Trooper that is! His escapades are hilarious and will always keep me coming back for more! My personal fav is the Rick Rolled one~ Haha!

Personally I think the site is good as it is. If I could just suggest one thing then it would have to be more Mirai related news! Placed my order for one of the tees already and will wait for the Figma to come soon!

Thanks for creating such an awesome event Danny :)

well well, I'm reading dannychoo because I'm interested in Japanese culture & transportation.
And its always good to broaden you'r view of the world.

hmhm, I'd like to see more transportation content as Public Transportation in Tokyo is rather awesome. Especially the railway network & operation is interesting.
The longest thru service with Tokyo Metro spans about 100km and takes more than two hours to travel. (Tokyu Den-En-Toshi Line - Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line - Tobu Isesaki Line).
And Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line has reserved seat Ltd. Exp. Service with Odakyu.

And btw, I almost every time end up on the landing page instead of normal index page.
Using latest Opera + Linux (Fedora 11).

I frequent DC.com mostly for the articles about Japan and Japanese culture. It's very interesting stuff. Incidentally, I browse exclusively via the RSS feed and never use any of the other ways of getting around the site.

I don't enjoy the photo articles so much because they're really long. It'd be nice if there were a way to filter out just a couple of the absolutely spectacular ones (there're always a few in each post) to the top of the pile and leave out the ones that're just the normal amount of awesome ;)

I'm especially enjoying the shorter articles that DC.com pulls down from Flickr - they're pithy and to-the-point, which suits my browsing style. Which isn't to say a longer article can't catch my attention - they often do - but just that the faster you get to the meaty bits, the better :)

The biographical articles are really interesting too. They're less educational, like "This is what disabled facilities are like in Japan", and more of a human interest story, like "This is what my experience of Japan has been like", and that really works for me. The article recently about your struggles with cashflow while running Mirai Inc was really good, for example, and I've enjoyed all the articles about your dream of coming to Tokyo and how you achieved it.

In general though, it's the style of your writing that makes the articles interesting. You're at your best when you're writing about what you're passionate about and more of that would be great. I'm not in love with dollfies myself, for example, but I find the articles you write about them fascinating, even the longer ones :P, because you clearly do love your little daughters.

Finally, thanks for all your hard work, Danny! :D

Hi Danny! I discovered your site through BoingBoing, I think lol. I love your articles about Life in Japan which are great because you discuss so many different interesting topics. I mean, I would imagine it would be so much easier for you to cover the usual stuff like anime, figures, otaku (heck, even ecchi stuff which you mentioned at one point that was the only stuff you were talking about lol!) but I truly respect and am glad that you decided to show your readers so much more! I have to admit, I'm a bit partial to the personal articles that you post and talk about (I'm also a big fan of your father! He's brilliant!) so reading more about the Jimmy Choo/Danny Choo experience wouldn't hurt. ^_^

One question I've had in mind (not sure if you will answer or if it'd be considered too personal but I'll ask anyway!) is do you and your wife speak Japanese to each other?? Or English?? Thanks!

I actually found your site through the Tokyo Stormtrooper on YouTube.
Imagine my surprise when I followed the link expecting more videos and stumbled across this place!
It's been my dream to go to Tokyo for a while now, but, due to the "Poor College Kid Syndrome",
    I haven't been able to.
The photo walks and weekly posts you do make me want to sell all of my possessions and get a plane ticket just so I can live in a box in Tokyo.
As for something you might could touch on, I would like to know more about apartment living and maybe jobs in Japan.
For people like me who would one day like to go there for a year or so and maybe get a job as an English teacher, this would be a welcome help.
Plus, it wouldn't be as bland or boring as some of the other sites I've looked at. >.>

I first found Danny Choo off of Kotaku. They made a post about him and his stormtrooper antics and so I followed the link to see the clips. I found that Danny's site really mixes a lot of my interests in to one site. I love Japan culture and would really like to visit it one day, but until then I just get to look at pictures on line. SushiCam and DannnyChoo have the best japanese photos out there. I love the average everyday photos of rural and suburb areas. The places people usually walk by and not pay any attention too. They're wonderful. I also love seeing the cute 2D girls, figures and figure events that get covered here. I'd go by some... but I'm cheap. So looking at pictures is the next best thing for me. Until I win some that is. So yeah, keep up the great site Danny! Oh, and my choice is... [yukino]

While I'm fairly passionate about anime and manga, the stuff that actually interests me the most is your articles on life in Japan. The everyday stuff can be quite exciting. Loving the photo walks and such as it gives a nice little glimpse into living in the country. It would be interesting to see what locations you consider to be "Must visit/Must see" when one visits/lives in Tokyo for example. Where does one eat the best food, work out, get a massage... anything!

I would also want to read more in depth about the process of settling down in Japan as you have, learning the language etc. While you already have some articles on the subject already, I found them very interesting! And oh... anything regarding the language and studies of it abroad if at all/applicable/possible... would be... nice. *wink wink*

The Dollfies still scare me a bit, But I can live with that! :D

    And oh...

And ah, some criticism! It's quite hard to know when you've had a reply to a comment or something of the kind. You simply have to check back to the topic in case you had a reply. I'm certain this can be done in a more efficient matter no?

I read DC for the photowalks and life in Japan segments.
There are many sites for just looking at figures--so many that I often get repeats from my feeds!
But It's very interesting to see Japan from different angles (figuratively and literally)!
And your photowalk lectures are very inspirational as well.

I'd love to see more fashion related articles!

Read DC.com in the beginning pure for the figure reviews, since I was curious how those anime figures looked like and wanted to see different photo's besides the standard stock photo's.

As I was basically camping dc.com, I went reading the other posts wich to my suprise very entertaining to read. I loved how you see tiny bits here and there of "otaku" aura in the post and pictures wich I liked. Although didn't comment alot since I'm more a lurker that just like to read other people opinions and their view on certain things.

The day that Figure.fm launched with the OTACOOL competition, I realised the community is just great, no flaming, no spamming and all interests in the same hobby.

What I miss is photo articles of nature. Like how is the landscapes, beautiful parks to go, lakes etc. [Kanade]

    Actually I first landed on dc.com while I was looking for stuff about Stormtrooper armor. Gotta thanks google for that. And because of this nice content about life in Japan, I bookmarked the site, and later fell into figures etc... Well, that was about 2 years ago ^^;
Now I just read - quickly - the daily articles, whatever the category. Well, in fact I skip the ones about candy girls and promotional giveaways (exception for that one though).
The ones I like the most are the food-picture-articles and Suenaga siblings' topics : look so yummy, both of them! =p
I read on comments above the interrest in (quote) "your motivational topics". I kindda like these articles as well, relating your experiences, great people you've met etc... Helps me remember ervery day that passion can be a really strong ally ;)

I'm a big figure addict, so most of what I come here for is in relation to figures. More photo reviews of figures would be nice. Also I'm interested in doujin culture, so coverage of Comiket and other doujinshi-related events would be fantastic. Really there's so much that I'd love to see you delve into, like the music scene, etc, but really it's best for you to not try to cover things that aren't of interest to you. Overall, though, some of my favorite articles are the more behind the scenes things. [kanade]

I read DC because it's reliably updated multiple times a day by you or the Tokyo Live Bloggers, and before that, it was the photos and the photo articles: particularly the A Week in Tokyo series. Japan culture interests me greatly and I learn much about it from DC. This knowledge helped me a bunch on planning my month-long backpacking trip through Japan during this past summer.

The reason I read this blog is simple: I love Japan. I love the culture, I love the locations, I love the people, I love everything about the country. I read your blog in order to further my knowledge of Japan and in order to reminisce on the time I spent there this summer :D.

I know the blog focus' mainly on figures and life in Tokyo, but it seems as though you've been drifting more and more into the dollfie scene and neglecting the figure scene aside from the giveaways which is just a promotion for those who are giving away the figures.

I know it's your blog and you blog about what your current interest is, and it's hard to find a balance, but I somehow find myself visiting your blog and figure.fm less and less because there's just too little about figures and Tokyo nowadays. You've been posting a lot less about Tokyo too, which is what most of us came for in the first place.

Personally, I would like to see more of Japan's fine scenery, tourist attractions, events (sporting, parades), etc. But that might not be a viable option for you since you're busy. But at least bring back more of the figure and Tokyo scene.

I'm a long time lurker of DC.com and have been posting regularly for about a year now I think. I found the site when I was typing random things into youtube one night and I put in STORMTROOPER. I wasn't expecting much but I found one of Danny's videos and followed that to DC.com.

The thing I like about dc was the fun way you wrote your articles, I loved all the figure and gundam content, I like your event reports, your news of new figures and the interesting Japan info bits. One of my fave things is the community aspect and although I love figure.fm too, I am sad that you have removed the main community functions away from dc.com.

I understand it's your site and not actually a community web forum or anything, but it was the community aspect of dc.com that made it so special, it really made dc.com stand out from the crowd. I think dc.com lost a fair bit of its charm when you removed the member generated content. Figure fm is great and I love it, but it's not as good as old dc used to be.

I still visit dc.com on a daily basis because I still enjoy reading the articles and such (although sometimes your articles about yourself can seem more 'showing off about yourself' then 'inspirational' or 'encouraging') but I do miss your old in depth figure reviews that used to be quite regular. You don't seem to do reviews as much any more, but I guess you are a busy man =)

I mainly always appreciated the fact that you actually read through the comments and do reply to people as well, you haven't just made a community, but you participate in it too. Not many people as big as you would do that and that is one of the biggest things I have always loved about dc.com.

I hope that part of you never changes, because if that ever changes, it will be a truly sad day for dc.com.

I watched some guy dancing in a storm trooper armor and after watching it 10th time with my friends I discovered link in the description - too lazy to write it myself from video and discovered many interesting articles mainly about Japan life and food - wasn't interested in figures much at that time. Now I read about figures as well :)

Danny what you have to change is the possibility to notify about replies to comments - visiting the website every hour is boring and it makes your servers more busy :)
What you could write more is business in Japan - how it works there. Is it hard to make your own company from scratch, to hire good people etc :) Also I noticed that most of people reading your website are people somehow involved with computer business and I don't think that only I'm interested in the salary that developers can get in Japan :) You get the point ;)

Since I'm not really in the figures - don't own any (except all goodies from Fox Studio from the projects I was working on for them) I will give a shot to this giveaway (maybe this will be beginning for me) - too busy to play with other giveaways and already for a while wanted to ask you to write about what I wrote above - now I have chance you read this ;)

I keep wishing I can get a chance to do the same. The main topic I enjoy are the ones that aren't really related to any type of Otakudom such as "A week in Tokyo." I think you may have pushed me into nagging my parents into sending me to Japan two summers ago and even picking up a few figmas for myself.

I really enjoy the update on figures and Japanese news/life. This blog (and related links like figure.fm) revolves around my interests and the things I like. I just wish I had found it sooner.
    - Mainly I like seeing the new figures/anime stuff that is released.
    - I like the random post/pictures about what you've had for lunch.

In the beginning, i read mostly figures posts on DannyChoo.com. Now I'm starting to be interested in the 'Life in Japan' posts since there are so many interesting photos taken. I actually prefer to know more about Japan through ur posts rather than reading some travel books or watching traveling shows.. i realli love those mini-kyoukas! wanna lay my hands on them, haha.. perhaps u can recommend some places to get figures or japan's culture..

I visit dannychoo.com because I'm obsessed with anything to do with Japan, both traditional and modern side(more traditional tbh). My ultimate goal atm is to live and work there someday! so reading your posts and articles are just perfect for stocking up on current trends! I particularly like the Tokyo Live Bloggers because it's short and sweet. And because you guys post on that section quite often, I now find myself having to visit dannchoo.com everyday, which is good news for you I guess! XD Btw, you also got me interested in Dollfies.
I also like reading your 'preacher' articles because it gives me motivation, inspiration, and make me realize that living in Japan is actually achievable and it isn't just some fantasy I have had for a LONG time!!
I've read ALL your articles on Living in Japan(including the ones that are irrelevant to me!)and I found it very useful, educational and entertaining to read. I also like the fact I can learn Japanese reading your articles, although it would be even better if ALL the other Tokyo Live bloggers include their little Japanese sentence at the bottom like you do too:) ヤバい、ちょっと長い過ぎ( ̄□ ̄;)

I'll try and make this part short now XP
The areas I'll like to see more of:-
    architectures(modern & traditional),interior design, music, fashion, trends, art and design, exhibitions and generally a little bit more female related stuff would be good too, although I understand it's abit hard considering you're all male bloggers ^ ^;
As long as you keep posting articles like Tokyo Photo Walks, and teach us a few random Japanese words, then I'll be happy :D (how about making a『毎日にほんご』section XD)

What I like best about DannyChoo is how it is very image orientated. I am easily attracted to aesthetic things. The pictures make it really easy for me to follow what the articles are about. I especially like the 'A Day in Tokyo' because I love the photos of food *-* I'm an avid food blog follower. Other than that, I really love the photos of figures also. I can't afford figures but I do enjoy just staring at the lovely photos and reviews. (:

I like reading about how things are a bit different in Japan and hearing it from someone who lives there makes all the info factual. I like knowing about how business works as well, I love how everyone helps our DC.com and visa versa. The figures are great, but i like learning more about the companies that make them and how they do their magic. I am always checking on the site to see all the bloggers and find out what is happening in real time. All in all, its like a window into a "normal" life in japan. something i look forward to. for the prize I'm liking [yukino]!

oops, for got the criticism, nothing bad, i obviously enjoy the site, but its just that when i first read dc.com, i was swamped with all the article. It would be nice to see more posts, as busy as everyone is, to get my fix all day. Also I sometime run into an old post i didn't know about because i couldn't find it. Perhaps a category drop down with all related media. just a thought, keep up the good work.

The things I like the most are; The Tokyo Storm Trooper, the food-articles and everything about Figures!

Things I want to read more about are; things to win in Japanese game centers, limited food articles and information about places to buy Anime-stuff. (not just Akiba).

Long story short, I've found this site to be one of the greatest influences in my life and because of it, I now have a solid goal for the future.

Well I just happened to stumble across the site after looking for Japanese culture sites on google, the navigation is quite hard unless I want to look at the story linked to whatever (very pretty) picture I see, but I wasn't really sure what was going to be in the story or half the time what was going on in the story. For me it is a bit like watching Anime without the subs on, a fun experience but with the feeling that if I could understand what was going on more I would be much happier.

I would advise a tag line @ the bottom of the photo to explain the link. The title just wasn't enough for me, I will end up over looking really good articals just because I don't understand what they are about :)

    but maybe I'm just dumb

I read this site for the articles about daily life in Tokyo as there is so much to see, especially since the photography is so good. The site covers much of what interests me about Japan, so there is not much I could suggest being added.
I think perhaps more photo articles about historic buildings/places in Japan would be good, such as the "Edo wonderland" article, as that part of Japanese culture is also very interesting.
I discovered this site through boingboing.net as I used to be a daily reader of that site. Overall I really like this website, it is one of my favourites.

I frequent this site as much as possible, but sometimes I may be a bit late to the party on late night posts.(damn you time zones!)
I read DC for several reasons.
First, there is always consideration for the readership in each post. I feel the content has been selected so it piques the interest of as many members as possible. Or if they read everything, then it's interesting in each post. It caters to a wide audience not just the otaku group which it is primarily aimed at? There's a bit for everyone from enthusiasts to budding business people.
The website is made to be community orientated which really gives off a personal vibe to the website. Examples of this include the recent voting on which layout we preferred. This in combination with being written by someone who has close relation with Japanese culture and writes from that perspective makes DC.com a very attractive place for people who want some news on the 'hot' stuff from Japan.
    This one is one is pretty straight forward but also a bonus, giveaways ^^;
Of course these are the reasons why I read DC.

Now for what i'd like to see.
On DC, i'd like to see more articles on what are/could be unique to Japan as a country. The insider view on these, or another perspective would be interesting. I'll probably have to dig up what they are though.
Updates on some articles from the Japan category of the website. Preparation for would be members in Japan.
Finally, one i'm just throwing out there. Some sort of otaku goods deal tracker. Where can the members of DC find good deals/discount on goodies for the budget collector.

Thanks for making this article, really got me thinking.

I read this site because it has the best overall possibility of catching neat stuff that falls through the cracks. While their are many sites dedicated to each of the Otaku subsets, this site at it's best gives you a general overview of the entire Otaku world. Plus it gives people around the world a better look into daily Japanese life.

All I can think of as too what I would like to see is even more photo articles -Maybe less LARGE photo articles every once and a while and more smaller photo articles more frequently. That's all I can personally think of. (^^ )

This website sat around my bookmarks for a long time when I started getting hooked on anime, I eventually decided to clean up and realized DC was more than just gunpla and dancing stormtroopers XD I mainly come out of random curiosity; "I wonder what's the big news in Japan." "Wonder what figures are coming out soon." I won't say I'm a hard core fan of anything here but I enjoy my fair share of it. Most of the time I spend hours looking through the photo articles though. It was because of DC that I also got my first anime figure and other loot (first time an ad has been helpful) I don't comment or become too involved because that's just my nature...

Hey Danny Choo, Um I think I came across the site by accident when searching the web once, and well it kinda got me into the whole figure scene, I have loved anime and Japan culture for ages, and your site just took me that one step further. Lol. As for what I would like to see more of, well that one about disability access would be awesome, thats my current field of study at uni and I have always wondered! Another one would be art and theatre, because I love performing arts and it would be really great to know of some places to go in Japan (when I visit next year) where there is awesome art.

As for what I like about site at mo, I really love the weekly tokoyo articles, they just get me all sturred up and I wanna go visit Japan more! I also like the ones giving insight into the little niche things which are so Japanese :D

I want to see more Japanese words defined in your articles and news posts too :)

Example: The Japanese word for "new year" is "Osho Gatsu" [お正月[おしょうがつ]].
To say "Happy new year" you should utter "Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu" [あけましておめでとうございます].
Or you can use the colloquial form which is "Ake Ome!" pronounced "ahke ormeh" but only use this with people who you know very well.

I found about DC.com from one of your Tokyo Stormtrooper videos. I wanted to know more about "that awesome guy", and I then registered here.
Now I mostly read DC.com for the "A day/week in Tokyo", but I'm also a figure lover, so I'm always happy to hear about new figures coming out and I also really liked your GCS tour posts.
There is one thing that I kinda dislike though... I know I'm also a fresh user, but I noticed that there are way too many people now. Reading old posts I noticed that you used to reply on the comments, you were actually talking with the users, but now there are 100, 200, even 600 replies to a single post, and I'm pretty sure you find it hard to read them all, let alone reply them. I know there's no way to fix this, maybe stop the registration for new users, but I would hate it if that happened to me as someone who wants to register to a blog/site.
    Thats my 2 cents.

I'm a frequent at Dannychoo.com because the 'Tokyo' articles (Week, Day and Walk) articles are always a great read to see what it's like in Japan and also all the smaller articles describing how it is. It's also good when you write your motivational articles since that always gives my motivation a bump to help me try a little harder to succeed.

The only thing DC needs to improve on is probably 'Tokyo' articles could maybe be published more often, but that all depends on whether or not time is constraining you or not :} Other then that, a cleaner UI would be nice to navigate would be nice since current one looks quite busy, but then again I usually just use RSS to find your newer articles.

As for the figure I'd prefer

Oh man... I don't quite remember how long ago it was since I first visited this site... about 2-3 years ago?

I came across this site as I was first entering the world of "anime". Everything was brand new to me and I guess it was a new thing. I learned a lot about Japanese culture from anime as well as manga. Venturing across the internet looking for sites I could stream off my anime and just random blogs related to anime was one of the things I started out with. I eventually came across dannychoo.com being linked from another "not as popular" blog ... and was blown away from how great the blog looked. Dannychoo had everything, from life in Japan related posts and figurine reviews.

These days however, I visit dannychoo for posts mainly related to anime, figurines, conventions, and giveaways (like this one!). I guess you could say I stopped viewing posts about life in Japan but still occassionally do once in a while.

I came across your site from Kotaku, a game blogging site a few weeks ago. I was already interested in Japanese culture from the amount of anime I've been watching.
I like your photo articles blog. I do plan to travel there, what sites to see while I'm there. I'm interested on what good places to visit over there, and the food too! I like the toys you posted on your site. Also gives me a good opportunity to practice my Japanese, which is horrible btw.

Oh I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site!I remember how I found it.I was googleling last winter a couple of anime figures and this website kept popping up.I read some of the older articles and lurked for about a month or two until I decided to sign up.I think it was a wise decision.Or maybe a poor one since all of the article's make me want to buy thing's.XD Anyways I've always enjoyed all of your articles but I have to say your week in Tokyo one's are my favorite's.I guess I would like to see more of stuff like that though particularly of food since culinary is one of the fields I want to go into.
Well to end things I love this site and how the members seem to be like a close knit community which is something to admire. And the giveways are a very cool idea I must say.You are doing a great job Danny keep it up!:D

Danny I stumbled upon your site from a link on Justin Tv. Was probably 11/2 yrs. ago, seems longer though. Finally signed up in March of this year, had bucko problems getting the proper sign up figured out, whew what a trial, but persivered. Being an older guy, wasn't really following all that was otaku untill your site came to me. the 2 animes that I ever saw was Astro Boy and Kimba the White lion. As a youngester didn't even knoe what anime was, that was back in the 60's, now you can figure how ols i am. I've collected Evangellion EVAS and bits and pieces of other figures over the years. I subscribe via RSS feeds. Have no prob finding things on your site. Everything is well laid out, informative in a way that anyone can follow.
I have actually won the google android phone strap, it's really neat. Everything is great here, you don't have ti change it. Do hope to one day make it there."We only go around once in life, so reach for all the gusto you can get!"

I'm honestly going to say that I'm in the minority and that I found you through your figure reviews, and I stay here mostly for the figure reviews. But disappointingly you haven't done very many lately, which is a shame. So I'm hoping you read this and do more :D Another thing I like about your site is that I can see what happens behind the scenes of companies [The post you did recently with all the shots of employees desks just made me so happy seeing so many lovelies in one spot] and I do like seeing dolls and posts of them being adorable and lovely, however I can't afford one myself, so every doll post is a piece of sweet misery~ XDXD I tease~ But yes, I do believe that's about it.

So to sum up my opinions all nice and simply: More figure posts please, and not just loot shots, like reviews with pretty pictures and all that jazz :D That is all~ [yukino]

    For the new Giveaway:
I'm here for more than 2 years (4 months unregistered, 2 years registered) , the blog that presented me was akihabaranews.com, I'm not accessing as I did because my time got really short, but 3 or 4 times/day I get some news from Figure.fm and DC.com, so I didn't make all the comments that I want, and:

I miss so much FIGURE REVIEWS, WALLPAPERS and VIDEO SHARE SECTION. Ouch, and I dunno why, I don't like the Landing Page, I think is just a bother click and click and click... >_>

First i would like to say Congrats FatB. I found dannychoo by typing his name in google after i read a comment one Sankaku Complex. they said "Isn't that Danny Choo the famous otaku blogger" Well some thing along those lines. So I thought to my self "Hmmm famous otaku blogger. I bet he has an interesting life story, I'll might as well check his blog" and thats how I got into reading Dannys blog.I also like how he motivates you into following your dreams in his posts.

    I met Danny Choo.com through kirainet.com.
I love the beautiful pictures of the "Photo articles" (I'm envious of not being able to get them so pretty), the reviews of figures (your photos makes me bought more than one figure) and Dollfies (unfortunately have not yet one), and of course the videos of Tokyo Stormtrooper.
The giveaways are great too! They give the opportunity to get merchandise to people.
I look at the site more than once per day and the first thing I do when I wake up is looking for if there is something new.
I miss some articles about the curiosities of Japan and japanese people, something like ... "The streets have no name" or "the green of the grass tells, "aoi"" and why.
In addition, commenting on posts I practice English! XD (still with the help of google translator)
Sorry if my explanation its no so good at all. ^_^!

How I found this great site well one day I was looking through YouTube and was searching different Japanese videos and then as I was scrolling down I see TokyoStormTrooper that instantly caught my eye and instantly clicked on it. When I began to watch the video my face lit up I was just amazed at the great music the funky dance moves and the great scenery in of Tokyo. I'm a BIG OTAKU I have been ever since I was 7 years old when I used to watch all different types of animes that were shown on tv in Mexico. Now the reason why I love going to DannyChoo.com is because it has a vast variety of OTAKU goodies ^_^. Theres articles of Anime,Manga, Figures, and of course the great country of Japan and the great city TOKYO!!!! This site has made me fall in love with Tokyo and Japan even more now because it makes me feel that a part of me lives there. I know that sounds corny but it is my dream to one day go to Japan and experience the greatness of the Japanese culture. But for the time I can experience it right at home through DannyChoo.com Thank you so much for creating this site. The only suggestion I have is that I wish that you would release more weekly Tokyo Articles because I love all the pictures you take of Tokyo.

I read here at DC because I feel that this is my portal to Japan. I am very fascinated with the culture, anime and the S.Trooper. I see Japan as a very busy place, full off different varieties of different things. But I would like to know more about things that aren't too common to outsiders/aliens, such as rural areas in Japan or things that Japan has and other countries don't. I find "A week in Tokyo" very fun to read. It's like experiencing quick glimpses of the places~!

I still remember that day, the very special day...
I was searching for sites that gave me info about festivals/culture in Japan (was assigned to do Japan). After long hours of surfing I gave my last go for my last reference. Then I find, www.dannychoo.com "Your portal to Japan". On that day I was able to finish my assignment with no difficulties understanding what matsuri was and such. Thanks Danny for letting me use http://www.dannychoo.com/post/en/1573/Japanese+Festivals.html, dont worry I referenced it :D

I first visited DannyChoo.com because of the Tokyo Stormtrooper videos, back when I was in America. After strange circumstances, I ended up in Japan, and now I regularly read because of the content. Danny, you have an amazing story and great determination. I enjoy reading about your life, your business, and your views on Japan. I'm glad you reorganized the site for categories... I like Anime but I'm not crazy obsessive about it. But I still read all the articles.
If you've got the time, I'd love to read more about your recommended visiting spots. I go to Tokyo sometimes but I have no idea what to do except shop. That, and more about Japan!

I first discovered Dannychoo.com by searching for Gundam Painting Tips on google. I found your tutorial on building Gundams and absoluetley fell in love with the site! I love Gundam, and this became of the the best sources for it. Stemming from that I starting reading more and more of your posts on Japan culture, and becasue I have always wanted to visit Japan but couldn't, this site truly became my "gateway to Japan"! However, sadly the site has become WAY more focused on figures over the years, without a single post on Gundam that I can recollect from the past many months. I understand that building Gundams takes time, and that you now have exciting relationships with figures, but I do feel kind of sad that my favorite source for Gundam news has vanshied. That being said, I still like the site and visit often, but I'd like to see more Gunndam posts please! Even if they're small, something would be better than nothing. ANyways, keep up the good work Danny!

I've been reading dannychoo.com everyday for quite awhile now (since before I made this account). I originally started when I was interested in Gunpla and life in Japan. Since then, I've observed quite a few changes in the site - some good and some bad. I enjoy how it's constantly updated, but I feel it sometimes has turned into its own version of Twitter at times. Back then, dannychoo.com was more "ecchi," too. I remember when you announced the change and understand why you did it, but I still somewhat miss that aspect of the site. It was more raw/otaku-ish and less about plugs for x, y and z back then. I check the site multiple times a day via RSS feeds and will continue to do so as I feel I've become somewhat of a distant friend, even though I don't comment all that often. <_<; In fact, it was because of you that I bought all my Gunpla, my "Japanese for Everyone" book, worked up the courage to buy figures and eventually made the trip of my life to Tokyo. It's also because of you that I continue to work towards my lifetime goal of working in Japan in some way/shape/form.

I'd like to see you continue to do more stuff about daily Japan from an otaku's point of view. There are still too few English speaking sites that do this. I love seeing everyday Japan from its timeless Kyoto shrines to its sleazy Kabukicho love hotels. One new thing I'd love to see would be you checking out various famous guitar/instrument places (Ikebe-gakki, Ishibashi, ESP Custom Shop, ESP/Ibanez/Caparison factories, etc.) With the popularity of K-On, this might be something to look into. You could even take pictures of the crazy ESP Gundam and anime guitars! <_<; Realistically, I doubt it'll happen as you have interests elsewhere, but I figured I'd throw it out there just to see what happens.

Oh, and can you please make your pictures bigger on Flickr? Like...1920x1200+ bigger? Before, you used to have lots of huge pictures we could download. Now, everything is so gimped in size that I can't really save any nice pictures for private usage (wallpapers and such).

One more thing - How about recommended Danny Choo spots in Japan? You know, places you really enjoy like various restaurants, things to see, places to go, things to do, etc.? You could be our own otaku tour guide, lol. Actually, before I went to Japan, I specifically looked back at your old photo shoots in various locations and attempted to re-create certain pictures you took. I was...somewhat successful but never did manage to find the exact locations of certain spots in Akihabara.

I like DC because Danny just does such interesting stuff! Seeing the business side of figure making and life in Japan is inspiring. I'm more into the figures, but I'm starting to get into Dollfies due to all this exposure to them.

As for what I'd like to see, well... I want to know about the people you meet in Tokyo. I know this is really invasive of their privacy, if they're blogged about on your website, but I want to know about Danny's wife and his friends. Even just their hobbies! I can see why this would be a problem, though.

I guess I'd like to see more figure articles where you talk about a figure. The photos are great, but I want to know what you really think of it.

I got introduced to DannyChoo.com when Ayu was talking about it one day. I was rather interested in the Japan culture over all, but I never really had the time to look more into it since I was in high school and it was my senior year. With college applications and such My hand was pretty tied and even though I love my mangas, I didn't get to do anything related to it for a while. So when Ayu was talking about how she is helping you on something and the fact that your a famous blogger of not just anime but also the culture of Japan I was very interested.
Being Chinese, I know the culture of Japan is vastly differ from that of China. I want to learn more about the culture of modern Japan and it's social issues, and I find that your blog offers both. My passion for otaku related news with a blend of Japanese culture that I love. Your website also has offer a gate way into other bloggers which makes a good read. What I liked the most out of all of your articles is the ones about Japanese Society. It makes a very interesting read about what the current social issues are in Japan and how people feel about it. I would very much be delighted if you blog more about the current funny Japan issues that mans and woman of that country face. I had also enjoy your Japan walks and the photos you take are always amusing(and full of figures, It's like playing 'Where is Waldo').
I had always want to visit Japan, but it seems the dream is just a little out of reach right now, but one day I will! However before that, I'll just satisfy myself with your blog of pretty pictures and witty news... for now.
Also I'm greedy, I like free stuff and interesting facts. D; -shameless plug-

Found this site though a link from a gundam forum because of some gundam related news you posted. But what captured my interest was the coverage on your daily life in Japan. It felt like it was the closest Japan experience I could get considering how desperately I want to go to Japan, so keep up the good work with your "Tokyo" post. (^^)b

Other reason is the figure coverage. After all, your reviews are what got me started collecting PVCs. However feel there has been lack of figure reviews lately, and too much dollfies (Feels somewhat the same for figure fm). Try to tone down the dollfie contents. ^^; Lastly, the community is great with little to no flaming, so it's a good place to hang out. Last but not least, you are very down to earth and your motivational speeches are always inspiring.

As for things I would like to see:

    1. Please add an edit function for user comments, so I don't have to resort to double-posting and end up "facepalming" myself. DX

    2. It would you introduce some locations for food, clothing, otaku goods, or any other place that visitors would like to go to. I know it's already partially being done in your "Tokyo" post but it would nice if you take it further. Along with reviews, like cheap? expensive? impression? Just so we know what to go to and what to avoid. Maybe you can even give us some recommendations for Hostess Clubs? XD. I bet that stormtrooper armour of yours can get you in for free. :9

    3. I like to know more about the people in Japan. I know you have already shared your life story and the struggles you have been through. But I'm also interested in listening to other peoples' be it foreigners or japanese. For example, it could be an interview with the sculptors at GSC, like what does it take to become one? What trials and erros have they been through, what's life like as a sculptor?, and etc. Basically, more close perspectives of people living in Japan.

    4. This one may seem silly considering how busy you are, but it would be awesome if you can do visit at a traditional tea ceremony and write an article on it. Coverage on Tokyo is cool, but it would be nice to escape from city life.

5.and........ an article on the life of a Yakuza.

j/k Lol but that would be badass. =)

    O yea, [Yukino] *~*

What I like about DC is the unique opportunities that Danny gets to take part in and write about. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more figure posts as well!

For me quality is more important than quantity - I would rather read a good article once in a while than a few a day. It's the same with Twitter posts. I think DC manages quality over quantity quite well though.

It is good to see that the Live Bloggers don't feature in the normal RSS feed, as I'd lose track of Danny's posts - maybe they could have their own RSS feed?

I used to follow DC just by visiting the website but now I depend a lot more on Twitter and RSS via my iPhone and iGoogle.

Well, there are lots of reasons why I read this blog.
First, it is because it tells me about what life is like in Japan. Since I'd like to live there when I grow older, it interests me a lot.
Moreover, your blog talks about figures//Dollfies. Well, since I'm still in High School, I can't afford any of these, so it's as if I'm dreaming when I read your blog ("If I had that, I could...").
I'd like however to read more "Tokyo Photo Walk" or some articles on wonderful spots (with photos of course ^^) we could visit if we come to Japan.
I've discovered Danny on a blog, and I'm really happy I've got to read this blog everyday :D

    It's always fun to see dancing trooper vids folling around the country, as well as the horde of DDs that're fast attracting my attention, altho I still unable to procure one... ^^;

I got hooked on your life in japan, motivational posts and figure reviews, after that was Dollfies which i now love, i found dollfies realy strange at first, but then saw all your lovely photography ^^. I think i first found your site googling something and found it had a great community posting different things.
i also see your Saber is using that new body you got ^^. I'd like to see a review of that some time :p

So far, everything that has been put up on the site has been interesting. The photo articles and "Slice of Life in Japan" type articles have been really informative. For the most part, things are really fun here. If possible, I'd like to see travel tips and good locations in Japan to visit. I may never get to go, but there are folks that would, and it would be informative in general.

Oh, and perhaps a news article on your plans for after the zombie apocalypse.

I can't remember how I found this site... I've been reading it for so long but I never signed up. I finally signed up when the stuff about Dollfies started showing up since I think I might contribute some of my own stuff eventually. It's completely coincidence that I was already into dolls! The main things I always liked to read are the day in/week in Tokyo and just random things about Japan. My Japanese is pretty good so I mostly skip the stuff about learning Japanese. (self taught, just like you! I learned in the 90's)

The things I would like to see more of is something that Dannychoo.com has had from the start and the reason I keep coming back: obscure random articles!
Now that there are so many sites and blogs about life in Japan it's the best reason to hit this site. I still like the picture articles of conventions too (Comiket, Dollpa, etc.) and I know you aren't always able to go to them lately but I really love the photos. I really wish I could go to them and it makes me feel like I'm there.

    First of, grats to FatB! I've already lost track of your win count... ^^;

I had happened to stumble upon this site about two years ago. But I only started regularly visiting when I stumbled into it a second time, decided to look around, found it interesting, visited more often, then registered.
If I had to say which series of articles I like the most, it would be your (infrequent) photowalk articles. (hint, hint) =P

As for the website UI: It's understandable, but not exactly intuitive. The "Categories" link not showing all articles is also not obvious. I think a custom search engine would also help -- something with category/tag filters and the like.

I read the articles on dannychoo.com because of my mounting interest in Japanese culture, the otaku scene, and life in Japan in general. I have a strong interest in technology(I'm a geek) and foreign cultures, and Japan's culture is certainly one of the most awesome and cool cultures I've seen yet. I hope to learn the language and visit Japan someday, but for now I keep up to date on the latest, and here seems to be the best place.
I'd like to see more Japan photo articles, and more tech-oriented articles.

I come to DC to read about life in Japan and also the otaku subculture and pretty much anything you put up. The first thing that got me here was the Stormtrooper which I found pretty awesome. Currently, I am a business student at my local university and plan on moving to Japan to find a job. I've never been to Japan in my life though so I don't really know what's it like there. However, your blog posts have shed some light on what Japan is. This increase in knowledge in the society that I plan to work in would be very beneficial for me in the long run; therefore, I have DC set as one of my homepages just so I can check up what's going on in Japan.
Although the posts you have done varies, I would like to see more on the economics and traditions of Japan. Also, recommendations for areas to stay for people who plan to work in Japan, places to buy houses and etc.

I also loveeeee all the reviews on new figures! And the dollfies! Your daughters are so cute.
I discovered Dannychoo.com though a friend of mine who was in one of your pictures when he visited Japan. And I checked out the site when I got home and fell in love with all of the pcitures of all things Japanese!

What I'd like to see more of? Ah, geez. The content on this site already overwhelms me, especially your photo articles. I first discovered DC through a search engine, which lead me to one of your articles about a figure review that you got from E2046. After that, I started lurking DC for a while until one day I made an account here.

I really love all your articles even through I don't comment that much. My favorite parts of this site is the figure review and your photos. I also like the information about anime,Japan, and figures in your articles and other members' news.

What I really want to see more of is more figure reviews since you hasn't done that for a while and I would like to hear about your childhood or your past, if you don't mind.

I used to be scared of reading this blog for a long while, year and a half actually. All the stuff that was happening, you got your own company, all the figures, tv shows. Honestly dannychoo.com was becoming a behemoth and I got so much anxiety that I had not reached my own goals. But recently I just said screw it all and began to read it, I appreciate most of the motivation entries because I can't believe the level of openness, it kinda reaches deep within.

Found the blog way back when the site had the cell design but visited from time to time, back then there really was no blogs about japan and regular day life. Nothing glamorous just basic photo day walks and life in japan.

I am not sure but it would be nice with some photo entries where you could go in deeper into the process of figures and other production companies, like the old gundam figures, sorta step by step entries but with different kind of subjects

I came across DC.com last year when I was looking for some information about a couple of anime I like. After finding the site I started to lurk around, reading the "A Day in Tokyo", figure/dollfie posts (Which actually got me interested in starting a collection of my own.) until early this year I joined the community. Thanks to your posts my knowledge & respect for Japan has grown greatly. *bow* They've also driven me to learn the language & one day visit Japan myself. =]

Oh man so many posts already >>
I found dannychoo.com through my brother, which was randomly reading up on Japan for our trip to January. At first I browsed around reading articles of Tokyo, Tokyo Asleep is one of my favorites.
Then the Figures sections and eventually the Dollfie sections became interesting to me. I registered after the AmiAmi give away, hopeing to get the figma :P but have been reading the blog for almost a year.
The site has gone through many changes, pretty cool if you ask me. I love hearing about everything in Japan, would also like to hear about how Japanese spend their Vacations. The only real exposer I get of a Japanese vacation is anime, and sometimes those aren't very realistic :P

I first discovered DC via a recommendation of a friend. I spent the whole day reading the Week in Tokyo Series. The little bits of information and really eye catching pictures of life in Tokyo/Japan are the things that make me come back. The live blogger feature is a great addition as well, short and informative, just enough to have a quick fix until your next Day/Week Article.

I used to view figure updates here, but you don't do them a lot these days and probably only post your favorites. Its understandable though as they seem to pump out new figures a lot faster these days. There are other places to update myself with upcoming releases and only takes a short time and leave. I prefer DC to have quality articles that make me read and stay.

Well, it's hard to say why I read dannychoo.com but is related to my life since childhood ... Well, here I go ... Since childhood I have been potentially a geek, otaku, whatever you want to call ... I was always the "Freak & Nerd" at school for my love of anime, manga and Japanese culture, but never gave up ... and I proposed for knowing the culture that I love ... since I was a child, always dreamed of Japan know, beyond the fun things related to anime. Culture, lifestyle, problems, music, history, politics and many more. Until finally the day arrived, the year 2007, with much effort I went on vacation to this wonderful country and I could see from the tourist bubble all the things a child imagine ... This experience generated a lot of joy in me and at the same time very sad ... because they felt a need to escape the tourist bubble and fulfill my true dream of living some years in Japan ... Now 2 years have passed since this wonderful vacation trip and was in this time I met Dannychoo.com, reminding me days in Japan and deliver information in addition to many forces in order to achieve my true dream: Study and live several years with my wife in Japan ... ;)

One of the things I like about this web site is obviously know about my passion and hobby: A collection of figures jeje ... Besides the wonderful pictures of life in tokyo that blow my mind ... I would like to see more information about the problems that exist in Japan to learn and know that things might expect when going to live in this beautiful country ...

Well, that jeje Saludos desde Chile, across the planet

Thanks Danny for your wonderful blog and thanks to all members of this site every day makes me feel proud to be a collection of figures and otaku... Sorry for my English... Spanich speaker!! LOL

Found this site while looking for information on the Crossbone Gundam Fix Figuration, and seen your photo shoot of the X1, which helped me decide to get the X-3 kit (which sits on my desk at work ^_^ ) then seen more gundam stuffs, and figures. Your figure photoshoots ( which you should get back in to, you have a whole warehouse full of good figures to photo!.. if you don't have the time... Delegate to the Subordinates!) made me want to collect some figures ( still only have 2, to much GunPla!) and relying on you for upcoming figure news. the life in Japan photo's are great, and gives me ideas for when I eventually visit! And definatly the motivational coaching you give is a great help to one and all!

So I guess in the end, More Japan, More homemade photoshoots of your figures and for you to finish up some GunPla work!!

I browse dannychoo because I'm interested in Japan and how much the culture there differs from life in America.
That, and like practically everyone here, I'm an avid anime watcher and I collect chara goods, manga and figures. And this site usually has figure reviews and such. There's even articles about the stores that sell this kind of stuff, so it's helps me learn more about the stores to go to when I manage to go to Japan.
Another thing that keeps me hooked is the pictures. All the pictures are pretty and make me want to go even more.
Ah, and for feedback, I don't really like the new layout of DC.com. I liked it when the main page wasn't huge pictures. I'd probably like it more if I wasn't forced to use a laptop with such a crappy res, but still. They're huge and it's kind of harder to navigate, imho.

Wow! Candy Boy! Now you're making it hard on me to lurk Danny.

I mostly read Dannychoo to read a bit about life in Japan. Ofcourse, reading DC got me into reading about figures too. What I really like about DC are the pictures. A Week in Tokyo is one of my favorite articles. Also, I got really inspired by your story, it's really touching, and inspiring, not to mention touching. I have known about the Stormtrooper for quite some time but I only visited the youtube page. I got on DC through a link on a blog.

What I really would like to know is how expensive it is to live in Japan. Now I know the things lying in stores are quite expensive compared to the world but what about things like the rent or taxes and what about insurances or medical costs things like that. It might not be very interesting but I definitely want to know.

Keep up the good work, I'm always following you through RSS. Would be great if the other Tokyo Bloggers got RSS too. I love Feedreader and am so reliant on it nowadays.

I can't exactly remember how I found this site, but it must have been the Tokyo Stormtrooper, or a site like Japan Probe or JapanSoc.

I read dannychoo.com because it is a window into the life of someone who lives in Japan, a goal that I would like to achieve someday. I remember reading that you had recorded the sounds of the street in Japan while you were visiting, so that you could listen to them later, and I really related to that. I also enjoy reading the perspective of someone leading a challenging and rewarding life.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of figures, but I like seeing how they capture the personalities of the characters, and seeing the wide range of quality. I look at your figure reviews once in a while, just for the pictures.

I just started taking Japanese courses in college, and have probably read a hundred articles on how to study Japanese efficiently, but I was thinking I'd like to read about the sense of progression you felt as you became more fluent in Japanese. I can currently catch snippets of phrases while watching anime, but I still struggle with understanding more than that when the subtitles are gone. Was there a point where you felt that you could fill in the blanks in your comprehension with the context of the rest of the words (/ when you knew more Japanese than you didn't know)?

Well first of all I find this site interesting because of all the cultural differences between japan and my country, the way japanese people live daily, and its delightful to see all those pictures of japan at night and in the afternoon, its a very good way to give us people a taste of japan.

I try to read all your stuff but to be honest its better to see posts with more image than text, sometimes the content its very long that its tiring to read all that stuff, but if you try to give a balance of the text and pictures it would be much better, and of course I do love figures, its stuff hard to find and expensive but your information about it its very helpful.

I've been into Japanese culture for a while as well, but reading Dannychoo.com has inspired and motivated me to learn even more! I've started to self learn the language, a slow process. I hope nothing bad ever happens to Dannychoo.com!

Can we get some more "A week in Tokyo" posts? i miss them.. [Yukino]

I discovered this site through the Moe Passion blog. First was just looking through the Life in Japan section and was like changing my wallpaper weekly with all the pics from the week in Tokyo series.
Always liked anime but was never really into the figures besides gundams, gradually started to look every so often then eventually just started looking at everything on the site during my summer break I remember I read through all the Japan article section which took me about a month haha. Ever since then been constantly coming back to this site and figure.fm.

Still mostly from the site I enjoy the a Week in Tokyo series the most and would like to see more of them.

I like pretty much all the kooky, interesting, odd, things I find on dannychoo and how I relate to it. It is also a good place to find other links to other interesting blogs and to meet people who share the same interest. But above all else, Danny I must tell you, I love the Stormtrooper outfit. You are living the dream, dancing around Tokyo in the greatest Imperial garb of all time. It is true what they say, "Little girls dream of their wedding day, while boys dream about being a Imperial Stormtrooper." I myself have a set of Stormtrooper armor, but it is not as good and as agile as yours. I personally wish I could just wear Stormtrooper armor all the time. From the Trooper, to the anime, to the video games, to the figma, DC has been a very welcoming site for me and many others who share the passion for otaku stuff. It is inspirational, friendly, and over all awesomeness all up in a one package. Thanks for the Trooper!!!

    Lurker here, I do randomly post on some member articles but I usually find that most of what I have to say has already been typed so I decide to keep my peace ^_^;;

I became aware of the site after becoming a figure collector myself. Right now the main draw is the little extra things you write about (behind the scenes of the industry, random experiences in life, etc) living in Japan. Oh and the photos, I love looking at the pretty pictures with the random anime merchandise in them. The giveaways definitely keep my attention as well it's fun to hope and dream afterall :P

    Good on yeah mate!!

I read Dannychoo because it is the only site that is in English (I'm currently learning Japanese) where I can get all the info about Japan and it's neat Customs and Traditions. The Photos that you take, Danny, of Japan are absolutely beautiful.
I found Dannychoo.com from the Storm Trooper dance videos. Tokyo Dance Trooper in Shibuya was the first video I saw of you.
All in all, I wouldn't change anything about this site. Though I do miss the ability to upload your own news feed.

Came over from www.fakku.net on April's fool was surprise by all the orange and both mirai and haruka^^. It was also the time after I i came to England and really need some kind of place to stick on, basically DC.com became my UK shelter ever since.Although DC did cause me to buy some expensive stuff but that's ok>.< at least i am getting some good things. Would like to see DC participate in more activities often, more post about blogging and the internet not to mention those moving motivation articles that change my life^^

I just want DC.com to continue to be here nothing else looks like the answers is getting to emotional.....

"For Fun - it would be awesome if you could visit one of the many anime shops in Japan, raid them and take some photos it would be a great way to lure people to Japan or make us drool in front of our computers.

For Education - On-line CGM guide and SEO tutorials for us computer geeks and people who are interested in how DC.com turns up top in google with some key words.. good for producing more people that meets your hiring criteria?

For Mirai no Mirai - Online streaming would be great for those who could not get when its out and good luck to the people that are making it possible."

i think thats all i will say ^^

I read Dannychoo because I enjoyed reading about life in Tokyo. My dream is to go live in Japan so the blog kept me thinking about what I would and could do there, places to go, etc. i also enjoy the articles on figures. I have some myself but not as much as you; it keeps me updated on the new one that come out too.

I found DC through randomly searching and scrolling though forums on cosplayers and your link happened to be there. I clicked on it out of curiosity and after reading a couple of articles and subscribed after that.

I want to know if living in Japan is expensive especially if you just got out of school and want to get a job in Japan. Also i wnat to know how to stay an otaku while living in a foreign place that i haven't been to. I want to continue my hobbies while living and working there( if I ever move to Japan I mean). I also hope that you take more pictures of Japan and put some captions under it(like where it is). It would also be nice if the "post comment" button was under the blog so I wouldn't have to scroll ALL the way down to click it because my computer lags a bit so when I scroll down it freezes for a bit before continuing to load.

Thank you for putting up this blog. I really enjoy reading it. Keep up the good work! <3

I discovered DC via Akihabaranews.com, I remember some videos where Daimaou and you were commenting the new High-Tech gadgets and figures available in Japan. It was pretty fun ^^ Then I came to you site, registered and for a while posted some pics of Racing Girls (Korean RG of the month). I like your site as it always makes me discover new things, I especially like the "week in Tokyo" series which is great, it's nice to see all the things you do. I read Danny Choo because it inspires me. I love reading about life in Japan, and seeing all the neat pictures of the dolls and figures, and I wish that someday I could go out and become as successful and well-known as Danny.

The one thing I would like to see changed is that I want to hear more about Tokyo. I like that there is a focus on the dolls and figures, but what originally drew me to the site was the "Week in Tokyo" segment. Such long posts must be time consuming, but those segments were things that I really loved. In relation to this, I love the blurbs posted via phone that are just snapshots of things going on in Tokyo, even though it's just one picture and a single sentence at times.

    Keep up the good work!

What I like the most about this website is the fact that it's easily accesible to almost all readers, and even newcomers. What I'd like to see though, are more on Japan's education system. I only have a basic grasp of what it's like from watching animes, and animes aren't exactly the best representation. Also, other things that would interest me are any new feats of engineering that happen only in Japan. The Life-sized Gundam was definitely one of the coolest things I've seen, so if there is anything else (even Japan's speed trains) I'd love to see articles on it.

One thing I noticed was, when one of my friends wanted to learn and do some research about Japanese culture, she asked me to help with her report, and I instantly recommended this site to her. She looked at me with a confused look and asked, "what is this?"
From that experience, I realized, although this website is accurate at what happens around in Japan, it definitely was designed to cater to the otaku readers and those interested in anime or figures. I think, that while that concept is what it should be designed for, it potentially scares off those who have some sort of bias towards anime. What I thought was, why not also introduce a side to Dannychoo.com that focuses more on Japan and less on the otaku, just for those few who are more interested in learning about the culture who have lingering biases.

I like most of the content on the site, the articles about different facets of Japanese life are fascinating, and also good to know about for whenever I may go there. The week (day) in tokyo posts are quite cool too. Figures/merchandise posts I initially came here for, but being a bit more experienced in the field now, there are quite a lot of other sites I more focus on for that kind of info though it is always nice to read your posts and see the pics you've taken too. I have yet to give in to the dollfies interest, but you're gradually pushing me towards it man! :p

I read the site mostly for the Japan-related article, but i like looking at some of the awesome fgures (more into mech than figures of girls, but those are nice to look at, too.) What i'd like to see more of is articles about places or events in Japan (more cultural than tech- or figure-related, maybe), and possibly diving into some of the awesome custom painted dollfies. I love those things.

I can't remember when I finally decided to sign up and regularly check this site. I'm pretty sure I came across here a while before it when I was searching for info and pictures of the Nirvash model I eventually bought. After watching Gurren Lagann I started my plunge into the figure hobby and since then I've been visiting this site daily.
I enjoy coming to check to see if there are new posts on anything; life in Japan, figures, your work, etc. But I'm not really into the whole Dolfie scene, they look nice, etc, but I'm not too bothered when I see a new post containing them. However that is your hobby, I'm not saying 'stop posting about it' because that is what you enjoy and I would never say that anyway.
I kind of feel like the live blogging section has pushed aside the week in Tokyo posts, if it hasn't then sorry, but it feel like it has. With the introduction of the iPhone you can do what you're doing now, however I miss scrolling through an article and looking at the extremely nice pictures you take.
I would love to see more industry/computing/internet posts. I don't know how to expand on this, all I can say is that I enjoy reading the tweets by the people in this list http://bit.ly/3W6mnc
In the future I would love to move to Japan, posts that can help with info like housing, etc would be awesome however your new partnership with Japan Times looks like it has that covered.
I love coming back to this site everyday, this place has all of my passions and interest in one place how can I not like it?

I love when you talk about everyday Japanese things that aren't widely known by foreigners, like how you don't pay the tab in Japan or how strict you guys are about recycling.
I also love it when you talk about your successes or failures, or talk about how a person should work at a job they actually like. I'm currently still trying to figure out what to do with my life, and this gives me something to think about.

I guess you could say I started coming to DC.com when I made an active decision not to let my old anime fandom die out. After graduating from school and moving to the real world, I started losing touch with that aspect of my personality. I wanted to get back into the figure collecting scene and this seemed like a logical place to start. The community aspect was great and I often enjoyed reading posts from some of the regular members at the time.

As readership grew, however, a lot of the high quality user created content started getting shuffled into a bunch of less interesting content. This is good in the sense that the site was gaining readership, but bad in the sense that there was a lot more stuff to sift through.

One thing that might be nice (not just for DC.com but for figure.fm as well) are "regular columnists" for different types of content (figures, models, dollfies, etc.) The Tokyo Live Bloggers idea is a good place to start, but it's a bit too simple and undirected. It almost looks like twitter, except with more than 160 characters and a place to upload pictures.

Sadly, with the growth in readership (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), some of the sense of community has gotten lost. Some of the people I've come to exchange conversation with in the blurbs and comments have faded into the background and become lurkers. I'm sorry to admit that I've become one of those people as well. :(

    I guess I'll go for [kanade]. :)

I thought the little bits of humor was a nice touch that adds a welcoming feeling to your site, and at first i came only for the figures until i read an inspirational article of yours, that's what got me hooked and made me make my account, also this site pushed me into my nendo obsession XD, there's not really one thing i prefer more than the other that this site has to offer not to sound sappy but i love it all, the life in japan articles are nice i read them all but i see my self wanting to see some japan fashion articles, hopes your wife starts writing them soon, i look forward to reading them ^^

I don't remember how I got here, but I do know I've been a reader for about two years now— and a lurker for most of that time. I've recently tried to comment when I have something remotely interesting to say ^__^".

I've always loved the articles about living in Japan and how varied they are— from holidays to recycling bins to check-ups! Of course, the many photographs you take are also really helpful in helping explain what you are talking about along with your great sense of humor.

Other parts of the site I enjoy include, Tokyo Live Bloggers, Figure.fm, and your inspirational posts. It's really great to hear from other Tokyo bloggers and what they do. Figure.fm is a great place for dannychoo readers to post what they want in a very friendly community (especially considering this is the internet, haha). Your inspirational posts really make me want to get out there and do something :D.

Things I think need some working on include the management of old posts as they seem to disappear without a trace. I also think there should be a private messaging system and some sort of notification system that lets members know when people reply to their comments and/or Figure.fm posts. Lastly, I would personally prefer more articles about Japan living more than anything else. I absolutely LOVED the Hokkaido Guide and Edo Wonderland as it provided a look into a less crowded and more traditional Japan. I've been getting a Dollfie overload recently, but that's just me; I prefer Gundams =D.

All in all, I really enjoy the site and read every article posted.

I stumbled upon Dannychoo.com a few years ago by accident, I was looking for some information about Gunpla and found your article on Gunpla for busy people. It was history from there, I found myself constantly on this site. I originally started reading the many posts of the old figure.fm, the members here were very informative and friendly. It wasn't until figure.fm was shut down that I started to post on dc.com, this led me to delve deeper into this site. I started to read your in depth articles about life in Japan, they are all a joy to read and the pictures really add to the experience. One of the most influential articles involved the life changing aspect of learning the Japanese language. I started taking Japanese language and culture courses and hoping one day I will find myself in Japan. I continue to read dc.com because Japanese culture interests me, and your story about your success is inspiring. Being able to keep up with figure releases is a plus, I have grown to like PVC figures. In a nutshell, I read dc.com because this site is very informative, with a great community and is a temporary escape from real life.

    I don't clearly remember how I stumbled upon DC.com.
I think I was browsing through a lot of figure sites and news blogs
and found a link to the site some time around late 2006.
I also remember watching the "Tokyo Dance Trooper" videos
which I still enjoy very much to this day. :D

But to be honest, my visits to the site became less and less active
from late 2007 to early 2009, not because of the content or site itself,
but because of my addiction to online games. WoW in particular,
which gave me fewer hours to do anything else. I quit playing though. XD

But then, I remembered reading Alodia's Plurk early this year about
entering the DC.com "Your Desk" giveaway contest. I wanted to join
so badly, and took shots of my own desk, only to find out that I wasn't
a valid participant because I needed to be a senior member of the
site to join the contest, and I had already forgotten my old account details. >.<
So I made a new one, and vowed to be more active. Hahaha! XD

I remember my first trip to Tokyo in ages which was in 2007, and wishing that
a Stormtrooper would show up and start dancing. Haha! Sadly, that wish never
came true. XD But my last visit this late October proved to be much better!
Danny may not have been in his armor, but I was very glad to have finally met
the guy behind it all. :D Thanks for DC.com and all your hard work, Danny!

Long live Japan and long live DC.com!

What I like most about DC is that I can keep up to date with many otaku things that otherwise I would be out of the loop. I haven't found any better place to look about for interesting little articles either!

I originally came to DC.com about 3 years ago when I first started really becoming interested in anime stuff and that was when I was looking for gundam tips and stuff, and this site was nice and helpful to look at. After that, I looked at the site often but only recently have made an account. Due to the immense amount of other figures and things, I became more interested in non-gunpla things.

After looking at Danny’s autobiography, I found out he was Chinese (so am I) and learned Japanese later in his life time, and since I like to watch anime so much, it has convinced me to start self studying Japanese. (I bought Japanese for busy people)

I am interested in the culture and all the reviews, the week in review and life in japan are quite interesting, it makes me want to visit there. I would love to learn more about japan. In addition, I like how I can see how the figure making business is done and how some partnerships work.

    Finally some possible suggestions:
-a box on the site with useful Japanese phrase of the day perhaps
    -a food gallery
-tips on a trip to japan, how much money to bring for figures and such

    Bah, you caught me, Danny!

Yeah, it's been a long time since I've actually stumbled upon your website. If I remember correctly, I was searching up some articles about living in Japan. After a long time of hits and run, I ended up here. Of course, for the first few weeks I only read the articles on living in Japan. Then I finished reading all the articles and nearly left for good. What brought me back was the massive amount of article on figures and anime related things. I was a very avid anime watcher back in the day and it really peaked my interests. Now I go here to read the Photo Walks and see the progress to our favorite mascot. All in all, I'm glad I found this website and I'd like to thank you for your continued service. I know it might be hard but, being a senior in high school, I'd really like some information about some of the colleges in Japan. I'd like to know about some good engineering colleges around there. I'm not letting 4 years of Japanese class got to waste.

As for my choice, which is very hard for me to be concrete...
    [Kanade]

P.S.: Your photo walks really gets me thinking about my life. Very deep.

Hmmm the thing I like reading most are the "A week in Tokyo" and your "Tokyo Photo Walk". Much like other people ever since watching anime I fall in love in japanese culture and the articles you wrote never fails to inspire and amaze me. Sometimes reading your articles reminds me of my goals and dreams that I have forgotten tho ^^; Do continue to write articles to inspire us to work harder! Look forward to your next articles on life.

Well, I recently joined for the Aegis giveaway (shoot me)! I already got one in the mail, but I like Aegis so 2 would be nice I thought =b.

Anyway, I stumbled upon DC a few times before, but never really paid much attention (I browse from work you see, so not much time to dawdle around...). Was really started paying attention when my brother give me a link to the otaku rooms magazine post over here. A few days later I read AFA'09 site & see your name there. So I got curious and start to actively browse DC before joining.

I would love to go to Japan one day, so I like life in Japan stuff.

    Ah, for figures, I'd take:

Ah! Phooey! I got the right answer, but FatB is quicker with his research! XD Congrats on the win!

I came across this site while looking up figure reviews of a figure I was considering whether or not to buy. The photos looked lovely and I'm rather disappointed Danny doesn't have time to do more frequent and in-depth figure photo shoots, reviews, and figure convention coverage. I would also love to see more company walk-throughs like the ones for Good Smile Company and the everyday mundane things like the articles about getting a haircut in Japan or why people sometimes wear face masks, etc.

I enjoy all of Danny's life in Japan post, especially very like the "A Week in Tokyo", "A Day in Tokyo" and the "Tokyo Photo Walk" articles, whe you bring us more of life in Japan and Japanese culture - I love reading this so much. It is one of my favourite series of articles on dannychoo.com, not only because of the good looking food, and always looking forward to the next one, soo BTW Thanku you soo much for it Danny - I want to know more about Japanese culture and see more good/lovely pictures from Japan. \ >< /

I have been a figure otaku since April 16th, 2009 (not to long) when I get my first scale figure (I still remember this moment... ). ^^ I very like the figure/dollfie dreams stuff on your blog (News, events, photo review, dollfie post), you have so happy life with them I see.

    I came upon DC.com twice! The first time was through the StumbleUpon bar, which then through the site because I could, then forgot about it! The second time was when researching online planning my own trip to Japan! Didn't actaully join up till later, which I only just lurk around. xD;;
I enjoy reading all the articles here, but most of all I love the Photo walks and inspriating words that go with them. (and also because sometimes there's certain spots where I can be 'Hey! I've been there!' =D).
It would be neat to see alot more, if not, a more dedicated article for something like phrases and/or culture tidbits.

Look at all these comments. It's going to take you hours to read through it all :p

Anyways, I found dannychoo.com via google while I was looking for sites about "life in japan". Unfortunately, I don't have a university degree, and it seems like that's necessary in order to work or live there, but I still plan to visit someday. I had always been a fan of anime and manga, but never really had any figures until I saw posts here about Figmas and decided to pick up a few myself.

My favorite posts are the ones that outline the weirder aspects of life in Japan, such as the futuristic blood donor lab, or the 1:1 scale gundam. Posts about figures and the walks through Japan usually have nice photographs, but I never bother to read them, I only skim through the pictures. My least favorite posts are the ones about Miracle Mirai and the website. I'm sure you must love that your mascot is getting its own Figma and its own anime, but I really don't find it interesting, sorry. I've never liked the dollfie posts either. The first few were okay, but after a while, I get tired of seeing photos of the same dollfies with whatever new clothes/accessories you've given them.

So to recap, I'd love to see more posts about:
    Bizarre tokyo goings-on
Technology (that Sekai Camera app was really cool)
Pretty pictures from your evening strolls
    Upcoming figures and anime

I'd prefer to see less posts about:
    Your mascot
    Your daughters
You dancing in a stormtrooper outfit (don't hate me Danny, I'm just being honest)

Something I'd like to hear more about that you don't really cover:
Japanese artists - I don't just mean manga artists, I mean art in general. I'm sure there must be all kinds of interesting Japanese art popping up all the time, but the only thing art-related I've seen on here is posts about the artists who draw Mirai. Maybe that's not really the sort of thing Dannychoo is meant to cover, but is art not part of life in Japan?

    Oh, and uhh... [yukino]

    I came across your site many moons ago while looking for information on the net, I did not find anything that interest me at the time so I was one of those people who left within 15 seconds ^^;

Fast forward to year 2009, I found out from gamefaq that a Saber Lily figure is to be released and I began searching for information regarding this figure and that's how I stumbled upon Dannychoo.com once again. I told myself the name Dannychoo sounded vaguely familiar, because I knew I have seen that name somewhere before.

I started reading anything that looked interesting to me because I have been a lone-wolf collector for many many years and had no idea that such an online community existed. I was hungry for information and wanted to make friends who share my passion, which is unfortunately, difficult to do offline, especially in USA. I became interested in writing my own blog site after spending a few days in here because I see that as a vehicle for me to make new friends who may be interested in the same things as I do. And of course, the plan has been a complete success, I even acquainted with member Fumoffu and we even went to Japan to see Odaiba Gundam together! Talk about life changing events, I believe my stumbled upon Dannychoo.com is definitely one of them.

I like your photo articles, packed with bits and pieces of interesting facts about Japan that us Gaijin had no knowledge of. I became interested in Dollfie Dream of course, after reading your coverage of them, that fact I believe is pretty well known now. I am a very focus type collector and I love large scale figures, I love to see the ultimate form of the anime/game characters that I adore most, and I believe Dollfie Dream is the answer I have been searching for, until something better comes along that is.

I noticed with the separation of Dannychoo.com and figure.fm, the community has changed somewhat, I can't put my fingers on it but that is indeed happening. I understand what you are trying to do with Dannychoo.com and figure.fm and I don't have any problem with it, but I guess not everyone share the same opinion? Lastly, I believe a few comments above have mentioned that now there are too much information and it's now difficult to pick what to read? Though I don't have a strong opinion of it at this moment.

    Graduating University Student/Full Time Otaku

After first discovering the DC site, I fell in love with the "A Week in Tokyo" posts because it has always been my dream (since becoming a major Otaku) to go to Japan and possibly live there. Being a said Otaku also led me to become interested in many of the other topics posted here (seeing as how most everything posted here and on Figure.fm is Otaku-centered anyway). I've actually been "lurking" for maybe 1-2 years, but I just recently started posting my own blog-style posts on Figure.fm. So it looks like I'm apart of the community now (officially at least). I would definetly love to see more about lifestyles in Japan as well as more of the culture involved in today's Japanese society. The reason for this is the possibility that I will be moving to Japan coming next May 2010 myself and frankly I have no clue what life there is going to be like outside of Otaku-ism.

    ???Confused???

I read DC.com because there's so many articles that peak my interest...from figure reviews to inside looks inside figure companies and as well as different places of interest in Japan and beyond...initially I just looked at the figure review articles, but somehow I started to look at everything else and what was an occasional thing became something habitual daily ritual...I don't really remember how I found DC.com, but it had something related to the Max Factory Kasumi I had and something about the different color clothes versions of it...I think I stumbled upon it through google and then I came back later through a recommendation from a friend...and the rest is history...

Couldn't understand the dolls fascination at first but you explained it so well...like when you said that the joints became part of their beauty...watching lots of pictures of dolls, at the end, I agree. They will be mine...someday!!!!.

You should even add a culinary(recipes included please!!!!)blog with every single (screen lickable...^_^)food plate you show...I could say that's my favoryte part.

I like dannychoo.com. I read it for fun and time kiilling and procrastinating. honestly I came to look at this site trying to see that video with the goodsmile company tour. then I continued to read it and look at the few videos danny choo put up. I became attracted to the way he says the word "goodies" and "MMM very cute." NICE ACCENT YEA?! I then searched around the site and found that secret menut that was once there. and it had a link to the dancing trooper from the 2d nekkid girls link. then this site was neccesary. it is good. add some more documentary type videos and posts and it'll be even more popular. Dear Danny,

The first time I saw your blog is when I was looking for a gunpla tutorial and then I stumble upon your flickr account, I really glad that I clicked the link that got me to this blog. I enjoyed reading about your gunpla, and then I started reading more about you and other of your picture articles on figures, dollfies and Japan.

I got more interested with you when I knew who your father was and kinda proud cause I'm a Malaysian my self, I'm in Dublin right now and when people ask me who is the most famous person from Malaysia, I would mention your fathers name and then I would started to talk about you. Also when people ask me what is my dream or future hopes, I'd say I wanted to go to Japan, live in Japan, work in Japan and make a life/future in Japan.

When I strive or getting into difficulties with my life in Dublin, I would think of you and turn to your blog and determine myself that I would work hard to get myself to Japan and be like you, a successful Otaku that's living his dream life. Every single thing about your blog is my dream.

I've had bad memories about my childhood as well but not as bad as you and feel refreshed when I've read about yours, I thought mine was the worst. You were in London before you're in Japan and I'm Dublin right now(hope Japan is my next stop). I kinda relate my self to much of your life experiences. I always think that when the first time I've found this site is because of fate. I hope maybe one day we could work together as partners in one of your brilliant ideas.

My idea for this blog, maybe you could put something -ve about Japan, the culture, economics, their people, the things that effect foreigners or the local people that lives in Japan and comes up with solutions to it. Since I've been living in Dublin for almost 3 years now, I realize that every country has a bad side to them. I want to live in Japan but I would like to know more about the country from all perspectives. This could be something new for Weekly Tokyo Articles.

Some say this site has not improve much but I think it did, you've done a great service to us all. I hope you enjoyed your time in Singapore and I'm so sad I cant be there and jealous of you cause you get to drink teh-tarik...sigh~

p.s: If you think I'm gay after reading this, I assure you that I'm not. How can I be gay if I liked figures and dollfies right?(I used to be terrified of dollfies cause they look real girls)...haha~

Danny is my hero, wears a cool trooper armor, dance at the busiest Tokyo junction, and doesnt afraid of anything.

Stumbled DC from figure.fm back in 2006 when i was looking for figure pics/review. Back then Danny still do Gunpla. The whole DC.com has change over the years, but i still stay for otaku.fm news esp on Japan material (i no longer do figurines)

I stumbled on DC.com while looking for Figma pics on google. The best hits turned out to be the Figma Theater posts that I got a huge kick out of. I had also seen the Tokyo Stormtrooper vids around the interwebs, but I didn't make the connection right away. Since then I would check back periodically for figure news, and eventually I started taking a liking to the other aspects of the page. I personally find the Day/Week in Tokyo photo articles very interesting, and I love all the food related posts. Keep doing what you're doing Danny, I enjoy your take on life in Japan, and all the Otaku related content is also a plus XD

Well, I can say that your blog is very inspiring.
I have never been interested in blogging or reading others blogs, until I found yours.
I remember clearly, that I was searching for dollfie pictures, and suddenly, I was redirected to your site.
As I was really interested in Japan and Anime, I read all your articles in 1 week =)) It was a great week indeed, I got soo many information about Japan, Figures, Idols, Dollfies. ( I think you should consider to write a book, like " Encyclopedia of modern Japan " )
because your blog content was/is/will be Encyclopedia for Anime/Japan/Figure fans.
Personally, I adore reading your "Tokyo Photo Walk", It has amazing concept, and your life stories always encourages me to study more to achieve my goals.
It would be really nice from you, to write more about yourself. For example, I was very happy to discover that you were fan of Kylie Minogue like me XD, I had that kind of shrine too, until I discovered Anime. :D

Back during when I was getting back into gunpla, I was browsing around sites about gunpla kits and what other that I may have missed, it was no surprise that Dannychoo.com came up as one of the top results then; that was like 3 or 4 years ago. I lurked around for a couple of years, could've sworn I made an account then, totally forgot the username, "yipes~sometihng" I think. It was when you started doing the Week in Tokyo and motivational talks that drew me in. I pretty much came for the Gunpla posts and stayed for the community itself. Though things are nice the way it is today, I do miss the posts about Gunpla.

Wow.. this comment is pretty nostalgic.

But as the days passes -- the site starts to get a bit boring and there's not much dynamic content except for the contests...even the short quick articles doesn't cut it.

Geez, I don't remember how I came about DC.com. It was awhile ago...I think it might have had something to do with Danny's Perfect Grade Strike Gundam... >.> BUT what kept me here was some excellent info on Gunpla and Japanese culture. There were fewer people back then and it was easier conversing with people cause I communed with them on a regular basis. It was fun watching Danny build his Storm Trooper armor and complain about the company that made it for him! (goooood times) If I were to choose a reason why I left, it was because there was less and less Gundam news, and I found other sources for my little addiction. I came back cause I still really enjoyed the info about Japanese culture from back in the day. If I were to change anything about DC.com it would obviously be to see some more Gundam stuff, or just mecha in general. But anywho that's what I have to say about that. I don't have a preference of figure, I have not watched that anime, so go ahead and leave me out of the running for the figures. I just wanted to participate and give my thoughts. Good luck to everyone else!

Never knew that figures was so nicely molded, detail and came in scale size :D:D

Then came your A week in tokyo.... i was jealous :P i was jealous that you lived in japan... and i was jealous that you had good cameras :P but your photos are so beautiful. The angle that you capture it and the venue is random? but it is so beautiful. Typical Tokyo streets thats what i wanna see :D not some planned photo shoot where only some places are picked :D
You now inspired me to become a photographer to take the picture of life.

It's like a daily thing to visit DC now-a-days, maybe it was because of my interest in japan life and culture. Maybe also because of my interest in the Japanese language.

Also, it is fun to know the live's of people overseas isn't it, living apart your homeland is always an exciting experience isn't it?

Being following your fackbook and twitter, and reading twits are somehow easily on the go since twitter is pretty light.

Well, maybe I might want to see some gaming and doujin stuff since it is rare to come by, which only a handful of people I know knows what is doujin.

Ah darn, you have something to check how many people visit your site. Well it was to be expected.

I started here at DC several months ago. I basically wanted a news feed of all the newest, figures, games, movies, fads and whatnot. Since I'm a busy student, I needed the feed to gather all the news so I wouldn't spend hours and hours every night searching for it. Like I was totally behind the Vocaloid fad and didn't discover Miku till 6 months later. Not sure what I googled, but eventually I stumbled on this wonderful site and otaku.fm of course for everyone's blogs which I read so I can stay informed of the latest obsession.

This site has influenced me into draining my bank account to obtain figures... but I'm really picky on my figures. To not incur the wrath of my parents when seeing a $0 in their son's savings, I've decided to only get one of my favorite character of a particular series. Since most figures are female... means favorite female, which is good cause I have many! About being money conserving... I've discovered that figure collecting doesn't really apply ^^.

Your stories about how you got started, got me motivated though to "want" to pick up my Japanese textbook (self study is difficult) again and prepare for the day I set foot in Japan. There's pretty much only Chinese and Koreans in my area so it's rare for a Japanese course being taught. How is it being Chinese in Japan?

Also I'd love it if you put more motivational and articles on how everyday life is different from the rest of the world. They are the most interesting to me and will prepare me so I don't embarrass myself there. Oh! visit some school festivals for me, I've seen too many in anime and don't have any idea how they look in real life.

Keep up the good work Danny! 努力加油!

Stumbled upon this website following a link from a Tokyo Stormtrooper, and then got hoooked up by all the great articles and artifact that littered around here. Those stories about Japan was interesting as well, it's like getting an insider tip on what to do in Japan (would like to visit one day)
As for what's missing, probably more about corporate world in Japan? And some stereotypical stuff that the world sees differently than Japan?

Very simply, I read Dannychoo.com to keep up to date with goings on in Japan, along with the heartrendingly gorgeous figure releases too of course, adding Dollfies to that as well... Dannychoo's just got better and better since I became an avid reader in late 2007 lol. Seems so long ago... I remember how I found DC, via Google, while I was looking for reviews/photos of the Kotobukiya Chie Yoshioka figure which I was considering buying at the time.
The only thing that bugs me is the changing layouts... I've lost count of how many times its changed, may be down to my crappy memory though. Still, I'm a creature of habit, and change does not bode well with me. I get used to it eventually, but I don't like updates for anything, be it website, program or otherwise. Which isn't helpful in this world of ever-updating, ever-changing technologies lol.
I think the mix of Japan culture and figure culture is a good variety at the moment, with the Tokyo Live Bloggers throwing in their own words too. I don't want much to change at all. Apart from seeing more of the lovely Mirai and her sisters, can't wait for the merchandise :woop:.

I found this site through google images actually, searching japanese girl, to practice sketching facial features. Doing that for all sorts of races. (i am an art student). And came across storm trooper (with girls). And started browsing.

My interests in japan are history and architecture. As well as modern culture and anime. Especially Ghibli films! My dad collects figures also, but quite different, he collects lord of the rings figures they are amazing. My favourite parts on dannychoo.com are seeing the city photos and the walks, for two reasons. 1. they aren't touristy photos. and 2. the commentary you write.

What i would like to see more of what you are doing, because you seem to be getting around to discussing everything in culture. But in particular, i personally like the historic side of things. One last thing is that i think the photography is excellent, which is one thing that also keeps me coming back. [kanade]

I was first exposed to DC through the Anime/Manga section of the [H]ardOCP forums quite a few years ago. I think it was just a random "Hey that's fun(ny)" type of link (the Tokyo Trooper content if I had to guess) because I did not become a reader at that time. As time went on I noticed that DC content was starting to overlap in sites and circles that I followed. Megatokyo probably being the largest push. Around the time Fred jumped on Twitter and had a few exchanges with you (Danny) is when I decided to sit down and really read DC.com and learn about the life of Danny Choo. That's grown into me being a daily reader. :D

I really try to appreciate all of the content that is produced on DC. The motivational photowalks are a joy to read. - "Something leads to something, nothing leads to nothing" has become my mantra as of late. Behind the scenes articles of anime/manga/figure related companies like Good Smile are extraordinarily unique, rare, and a welcome read. The segments on daily life in Japan are also very intriguing as it's current information straight from someone who is really there.

Even professionally. DC has been a source of entertainment and knowledge. There are several times where I've stopped reading an article just to take the FF Web Developer extensions to the site to see how something is put together. Your pages on SEO and AdSense were also very educational on how to think about page layout and content organization.

Of course I'd like to take the easy answer and say that I want to see "More of everything!" but if I have to pin down the content that I enjoy most, it's the photo walks. I love seeing all the photographs of the places you go and the things you explain. The topic of disability accommodations could be quite interesting and is a great example of the everyday yet atypical topics that I enjoy coming to DC.com for.

Keep going about life the way you have been, Danny, because it's just getting better and better. :D

I discovered this site about 3 years ago while searching on Google for some reviews on Gundam kits, one of the first results that came back was Danny's site, so kudos for all the great work put in. Normally I don't really post much, just lurk around and see what other people post. For me, the best thing about this site is breadth of users that use it as a forum to post about their love for anime, games, figures, and other hobbies while providing photos of their collections. I've been through the many iterations of this website and it's great to see how the community has really grown to include so many diverse members and content. I'm also suprised at how great of a marketing tool it's become - a year ago I would've never thought much about Dollfies, but now I think they're great!

Anyway, as for improvements...I do notice that since implementing this current layout, whenever I view the site via Firefox or lolifox the image icons tend to get skewed or cut off - I think it also has to do with the size of my screen, which is a widescreen, as I find the same problems on Facebook. So if that kink could be worked out, it would improve the overall experience.

The thing I love most is hearing about the new things available in Japan, including figures, pictures of locations, dancing stormtrooper videos, and everything anime and manga related.I have posted a few things, which I have a few more that I need to post but haven't had the time to take the photos...But this site is also a haven for my otaku side, since I only have a few friends that are fans of anime, this gives me the chance to post and talk with other otaku. I love this site and have had a great experience with everyone on it. Thanks Danny for the great work.

    Anime/Manga Lover

Hello there Danny and everyone at DC.com
I am formerly a Vietnamese and move to Australia for university. I was not really interested in Japan at all when I was still in Vietnam. All I ever did that relate to Japan was reading Vietnamese translated mangas and watching English subbed anime. There is a small community of manga/anime lovers in Vietnam. They occasionally open some events which is quite fun but not as big as other countries have. Unfortunately, I knew about it just right before I move to Australia. Though, I was able to go there with my friend who sang a Jap song at that event (She taught me hiragana and katakana, too ^^; gotta love her … beautiful voice I mean ^^;). Watching anime for 5 yrs really pay off as I understand most of Japanese simple conversations without even realise I know them (o.o).

    I think that’s enough for an introduction ^^; I knew of DC.com right on the first class in uni from NaKAhi70’s recommendation. I was so happy to know someone who has interest in “All thing about Japan”. I would love to see more of the series “A week in Tokyo” as I learn a lot from them. I especially love your motivation posts since it pumps me up whenever I feel stress (just like a few days ago ^^;). Oh I almost forgot, I used to be uninterested in figures and know absolutely nothing about dollfies BUT your posts on figures and dollfies make me want to own one ^^;

I visit DC.com almost every day whenever I have time. I would love to see more about Japan’s lawsuits, taxation, healthcare, citizenship, guides around Japan and steps in buying a house (if you can repost that). I want to know about those issues because I am studying Accounting. However, I am interested in Graphic Designing (I know I am weird, many ppl say so ^^;). When I finish my bachelor degree, I will self-study Photoshop, Web Design and Japanese of course. My aim is to open an IT company and be a CEO (just like you, Danny ^^) if possible. I don’t have talent in making speeches (that’s why I don’t like posting comment much ^^;) but I will work hard to compensate for that. For a sensitive issue, I also want to know about Japan’s discrimination. It’s your choice to decide to or not to post that; I just want to have an idea of people living in Japan about this issue.

Ever since I move to Australia, I become more interesting in living in Japan. Australia is not an ideal place for me because it is too quiet. I plan on moving to Japan when I have saved enough money ^^; so I hope DC.com and you, Danny, will stay up for as long as you can to support me and your followers on their way to their dreams. May Mirai Inc and Mirai Gaia are big success, too.

Excuse my poor English and the long comment ^^, I would love to have Kanade as my first figure

I started trolling around and stumbled upon your Week in Japan series and was instantly hooked. It was exactly what I wanted to see before I head over there for some work. I wouldn't say it was a culture shock when I arrived in Japan but seeing your site first ease the jitters of going to a place that you have never been. I have been a fan since to the point that I even try some eatery places that you mentioned and all of the places that I've been to based on your site has got my stamp of approval.

-I found out this page while reading gaming magazine. Your page is great with figure and im a figure geek so i started to view this page several times a day to find good photograph or news.
-The only thing that i would like to see more is the reviews of the new figure but i doubt you have time for that XD.
-I personally think this site is the top so i wont give any more comment on improvements (i simply cant XD).
-Oh and if im lucky i would choose [Kanade] but i doubt my luck XD.

For me, I found this site, quite a ways back ^^;;, in March or April maybe? I think I was JUST getting into figmas, since I would constantly check Good Smile Company's site. I think when I was looking for a site where you could talk about anime, and a friend of mine told me about it, and really I just fell in love with this site ^^. I'm very impressed by everything, this is how I got into scaled figures, not just figmas. I was really intimidated to join but I finally did, and I'm glad I did! I don't think you really need any improvements, but sometimes some article pages on figure.fm can't be found, and it would be nice for that to be fixed. Thanks for making this site for all otaku's to come together! [Yukino]

you know what? i don't even know why, i've been following the blog for a few years now. all the amazing photos, highlighted the promised land's beauty, or simply show the ordinary, peaceful side of it. but somehow i feel that is not the reason.

the figure and dolls side, while i love figures, not so much on dolls. and while i don't have the luxury to collect em, i do have a few in my room. that side of the blog is just a nice extra for me. i guess.

or may be i know why, may be because you reminds me of what i wanted to be. Sometime in life, it's hard to follow your dream. my dream, is to come to japan, get a decent job, can support my life and my hobbies, and live happily ever after. well, you, sir, you remind me every single minute that japan is wonderful, remind me everyday that i have to learn another kanji, remind me every week that i have a bright future ahead of me, and remind me every month that life is not hopeless. yeah, may be that's why.

improvement? as usual, more about your life in japan, more about other people's life in japan, and more information about culture, daylife stuffs would be really wonderful :P

I don't exactly recall how I stumbled upon dannychoo.com, but I am grateful for finding a website that possesses a wonderful community, that I frequently visit and activity comment. I more than likely found it from either a Google search, a link from a blog or anime sites (Sankaku Complex), or one of the Tokyo Stormtrooper videos. What I love about dannychoo.com is the culture that is presented by Photo Articles. I also like the essential news of Japan that is occasionally posted.
Honestly, I have started to notice that I am in a decline in visiting frequency of the site, it's due to the homework and extracurricular activities that I am continuously engaged in. I am still able to read the articles by the Safari browser and Echofon (formerly twitterfon) on my iPhone 3G S; however, I reduced my frequency in posting comments.
Overall, I am very pleased at how dannychoo.com has gradually changed the UI and the quality of the articles and the opinions of the DC community when it comes to Member News. There is really nothing that needs improvement on the website.

    Hi Danny^^

I discovered your site while doing figure search on google about one and a half year ago, can't really remember the details lol.

I like your articles about Life in Japan. They are great^^ I get to read about bits and pieces of the life in Japan and from there have a deeper insight about the life there.^^
This also helps act as a motivation for me to work harder to move there when I grow up^^
I will like to see hear more about how you learn Japanese and move to Japan^^
Also maybe some tips about how to move there (and get a job of course^^)

I also like figure articles^^ They are also so interesting to read and sometimes it beats watching television at home XD I will like to see more articles about you traveling with your figures (eg. picture of you eating lurch out with them^^ etc...) I really like such pictures and will be looking forward to more more of it^^

Dannychoo.com is really a wonderful website but there's something it lacks that Crunchyroll has.
    1. Guest books on Profile page of user?
I think this will be quite useful as users will not have to keep going to the same post and refresh to see their conversation

    2. Notification when your comment receive a reply
Again this a function that will help make life earlier for users that post comments
Notification can be in the form of an email or maybe just a pop-up when they login^^

I guess this maybe the 2 function that help Crunchyroll become the top 1448 websites worldwide^^

    Hope it helps >.<

I think I found this site when I was searching for Gundam images... I've been somewhat a lurker because I'm still not sure how to contribute more. Love almost anything written and displayed here... I've been to Japan as child (38 now) and I remember enjoying every moment there (Zeta Gundam was broadcasted then)... wish I could come again.

I love all those figurines, nendoroids and dolfies (started buying some) but right now this site needs MORE Gundam!!! Yeah, that's the only improvement I'd like to see.

When I 1st visited this website, I found it interesting because I wanted to learn more bout Japanese culture..Plus dannychoo.com has always giving the information that I need to know about Japan like how are the food looks and taste in japan, what figurines are out now, how people in Japan live, etc..And there's always giveaway to be given to the readers making the readers to feel that it can be profitable just by reading this very blog..dannychoo.com has nice and helpful not to mention sharing readers..people help out each others..give them the answer they want to know..So that's why I'm still reading dannychoo.com, everyday..of course, there's something I think is lacking in dannychoo.com..I don't know if it's too much but Danny, you can try to put some mini online games on ur blog so that readers can enjoy reading and at the same time play games with other readers..haha..but don't worry..even if u can't make it, I'll still be your everyday reader cause I wanna know more bout Japan.. ^^

[Yukino] or [Kanade] either one is fine with me..I'll take whatever is left for me or even if there's no prizes I'm still ok with it..

It's very hard to sum up why I continue to read this site. The reason? It changes as time goes on.

At the very beginning, I found this site by looking up information on life in Japan. I got a link from Google to, of all things, the article dealing with the water bottles to scare cats (The name escapes me at the moment.)

This was the beginning of 2007, I believe. Or maybe midway through. At the time, there were just less than 200 posts on life in Japan. I read them all that day. It seems that back then, the site was more focused on Life in Japan than it is now, and to be honest, I miss it a little. But things change.

For a long time, up until the current site layout actually, I read for the member news. Sure, there was a lot of idiocy in it, but there was a lot of awesome stuff too.

Lately, I read for inspiration. So that is less on the Figure and Dolfie posts, but I am not against them. It helps me to keep on with my goals. Your photowalks and Weeks in Tokyo are the main draws.

I like to read about almost everything on your blog. It gives me much more insight to what living in Japan is like. There are a lot of things about Japan that just can't be captured with just a short vacation or someone describing it to you. The photos you take are very nice. Your inspiration articles are also a great read.
I'm a little disappointed with your most recent layout however. It loads up too many articles at the same time; maybe just limit it to 5-10 and then have the ability to browse thru the history. I also liked it better when otaku and figure fm were more directly related with DC. The quality and the participation was much better than it is now but it's understandable that you don't have much time to mod those areas.
Thanks for forming such a great blog and community (even tho I usually just lurk).

Its actually from this place that I ended up exploring more of Japanese otaku culture. Everything from touhou to dakimakuras were unheard of to me before I started regularly coming here.

The articles of trips in and around Japan are very insightful; the pictures always leave a nice impression. If anything, I would like to see more pictures on the infrastructure of Japan. As Im currently studying Civil engineering, its always fascinating to see how cities are planned in terms of roads and transportation and seeing how some forms are more effective than others.

I found this site from links from other anime blogs. What really drew me in to the site were all the articles about life in Japan. Before discovering dannychoo.com, I really had no idea how it was like to actually live in Japan. It's nice to read about it from an actual resident in the country. Many otaku-related events I also only found out about from the site.

While I enjoy the articles about Japan and Otaku stuff, what I look forward to the most are the inspirational articles. It gives me a lot of insight about the stuff that's going on in my life because some of the situations described in those articles really hit home. Discovered this site when I was looking for the Goodsmile Hatsune Miku 1/8 PVC figure.
To be honest, during that time there was a giveaway, which I signed up for. I've been frequently visiting DC ever since. Love your articles about Tokyo, and all the new figure news.

I love Japan a lot and have been studying the language throughout my school years. I was completely attracted to Japan after reading your blogs about Japan. Eventually this led me to actually make the initiative to visit Japan on that same year (end of 2008). I've always wanted to visit, but was afraid of the culture shock, plus being completely independent in a foreign country.

    Recommendations:
    - You write a lot about "Living in Japan", but not much on "Visiting Japan".
    - I would love to see guides to visiting Japan, more recommendations of famous places (some of the places you have mentioned in your blog, I had visited during my trip).
    - Things to do in Japan, recreational stuff. Fishing, sports and activities.
    - Maybe you can open up a live blogging for short stay visitors to Japan.

Hi Danny. I'm mostly interested reading Otaku culture and figure/gadgets/character goods coverage. What I would like to see on the website is an "Upcoming Events" section so we'll have a one stop shop on what's coming up as far as conventions, figure events, shows, itasha shows, and other Otaku related public events in Japan.

Also interested in your "disabled" facilities article. Both of my feet are paralyzed and I will walk on crutches my entire life. I'm fortunate enough to remain very active and mobile. I enjoy Japan and go every few years, but it's often a challenge when going to places like Tokyo Game Show or Akihabra while hauling overstuffed shopping bags around town and the train stations on crutches.

I'm also curious how you think Japanese view "disabled" persons. I find that people react very different in Japan than folks do in the "West". At home when someone trips on my crutch usually I recieve an apologetic response. Usually I'm offered to cut in front of long lines and offered a seat on the subway.

In Japan it's different. On a crowded street in Akihabara someone accidentally tripped on my crutch and a young lady nearby began to yell at me to the effect of "watch where you're going gaijin!". On a packed train I'm often standing and trying to balance on the hand rails for entire train rides - even when I'm standing in front of occupied seats designated for "disabled" persons. Never have I been offered to cut in front of a line. Not trying to paint a negative light, but I think it's just culturally different.

Anyway keep up the great work! I enjoyed the Otacool book and it has inspired me to Otaku out my own room. I'll try to post some pictures at some point.

I was looking for figma preview and came across DannyChoo.com. At first, I thought you were Malaysian with strong traffic in google search. Then I read your oppai mouse and tenga review and get hook up with your humour comments ever since. I love your Japan unique lifestyle write up along with few description in every images and also tutor about life being a successful web master/developer which I'm pursuing.
The main point, being yourself along with honest comment in figure review is the best. There's a lot of other figure preview/review blog but it's kinda no point reading as they only write few pieces of information without opinion.
By the way, I would glad to have [yukino] part of my desktop family.

Well i recently heavily into anime and manga a year ago and have been so keen in keeping up to date in recent anime communities and learning about Japanese culture. After searching for a long time for info about the Hatsune Miku (figma) i found this site. The figure theater brought me many laughs and lols. Have been mainly reading without a user but decided to make a user for myself to get involved.
Asides from HQ photos (which takes ages to load on my 256kb internet) maybe there could be another option to convert the images to a smaller format or a HTML option.
Keep up the great work Danny!!

Hi everyone! I know I don't post much comments around DC, because I'm still a student but after next year, when everything's over I'll be sure to catch the live updates.
I first heard about DC from my brother when he stumbled upon here. At first I thought he'd visit the site once but he kept returning so one day I decided to check it out a bit and was instantly hooked.
Now I read DC for all the articles, learning bit by bit of Japan every day. I mostly spend my time reading the figures and Dollfie sections though ^^; I thoroughly enjoy the a week in Tokyo section and the photo walks too. Though I do have a slight complaint that viewing DC on slower internet speeds takes forever to load, or never loads (learnt this from friend's CPU XD). Could be a problem with his CPU but I need someone else to help confirm this.

Game reviews would be nice. Not every game just the ones that currently interest you would be great. Keep up all your great work!

After starting to build up my figure collection a few months ago, a friend of mine linked me here. I've been browsing the site once every week, until two months ago where I started going pretty much every day. I decided to join only very recently, though - don't know why I waited this long, I even added the Facebook page and Twitter stream - and I'm all the more happy. :)

I'd love to see more of photoshoots of figs and dolfies, though what I'd like alot is if you'd take more pictures of the events you go at; I don't have these kind of events here, so I'm curious as to what takes place there. And I know you can't always make reviews of figs (partly because you can't expect fig companies to just send you truckloads of samples), but I love your reviews and seeing more is always nice, expecially the GoodSmile ones since they're my favorite brand (being absolutely honest here, nothing to do with your companies being linked, because I knew about GSC a long while before being linked here XP).

I'd like to get [kanade] if I win. Thanks! ^^

I have been viewing this site for well over a year now but for some reason i didn't create an account until recently. The reason why i read Dannychoo.com is the simple fact that he posts everything i could ever want to know about japan in one site. I no longer have to search up 10 different sites to fill my needs on the Japanese culture, i just go here and find more then i could ask for. I love the way how he captures the very heart of japan with the little details in each photo i browse, i love the community of people here as well and how I've yet to stumble across a hate comment or a flamer. Being here is great and it only makes me want to visit japan even more and focus on what i love to do without worrying about what others think. Its a fantastic site and i feel more knowledgeable then ever!!!
The only thing that i would like to see more of is videos for a walk in Tokyo or anywhere in japan. [kanade]

Originally I came here while searching for information on life in Japan. I had become interested in learning Japanese, and seeing what it's like to live and work in Japan, and just find out any and all information I could about culture, housing, costs, what the different towns/neighborhoods are like, just everything in general. I'm not sure exactly how I first stumbled upon the site but I know the first posts I found interesting were the week in tokyo ones. It seemed like there was so much to see and learn about Japan and your site had it all, and through it I found out more about figures which I had recently taken interest in but never gathered up the courage to buy yet. When I saw your Figma reviews I thought they were the perfect thing to introduce me to the world of buying figures and took the jump. I was never a die-hard member due to my social phobias, but I lurked for quite some time, and I still pretty much lurk and comment here and there when I feel the need to. The same reason I came here is the same reason I'm still here, to learn things about every facet of life in Japan from dollfies to technology. [kanade]

I remember looking through youtube for footage about Japan. Kept on clicking videos that looked interesting under the "related videos" section and I found my way to your Tokyo Stormtrooper account and followed the link from your profile. after reading through it the thing that keeps bring me back, besides the interesting post about life in Japan and figures, I love photography. the places you go to and the pictures you take are my favorite parts of the site. like Edo Wonderland, the types of places you normally can't find pictures of.

I would absolutely love to see more photo walk posts. also maybe a few posts with photography tips =)

I stumbled upon dannychoo.com when i was probably surfing the web on figures.
    Why i read DC?
I think im pretty enthusiastic about Japanese Culture & Lifestyle, There's some bits and chunks of news here & there that i would see on the web, but dannychoo.com brings me closer to what i look out for, which is Anime. Anime probably has already become part of my life, i look forward to watching Anime and learning something new each time. It doesn't matter what i learn, it could be morals, general knowledge, its builds part & parcel of everyone's lives =)

I also probably envy many of the things that Japanese people do, their ideas may seem "whacky" or "out of the world", but to me its aspiration to make ideas that equal or surpass them (i do games design & stuff related to design xD)

And then there's figurines and dolfies =)
I not really rich, but i reeaaallliiiee wanna collect them all lol. I think i might have some sort of fetish going on...but yea im building my collection at a time.

Cheers to many more great news & stories to come on dannychoo.com

p.s. if i could get one, i would like [Kanade] d(>_<)b

One of the things i like most your site is the pictures you take of Japan because one of these days i want to live there. Your pictures give me a tour of japan, without having to go there. While its not same as actually being there, its better than nothing!
Its HARD to save money for a trip to japan when im buying all figures because im addicted to your site that has all the news about figures and Japanese lifestyles.

Kanade looks like a choice for me =D!

Danny Danny... I came across your site when i was browsing to check on some Dollfie's that caught my eye when i was surfing some blogs through Uncle Google =p

Haha... What i like about Danny's site is that it really gives us the Japan feeling, like your Tokyo Photowalks and Japan cultural stuff... Like me, i stay in Malaysia, and i really really wanted to go to Japan to experience this cultural events first hand, but then your blog says it all, showing us some really awesome photos and descriptions... Thanks to this, i learned a bit about Japan from the comfort of my home =)

Another thing is, Danny's site is not just your regular awesome blog about Japan... Other than Japanese cultural stuff, it even has stuff on Figurines, Otaku stuff's and even your very own Tokyo Stormtrooper skits which i enjoyed watching =)...

Conclusion, your site really gives me a site of how Japan looks like and i even gain some knowledge about the Otaku Community that i didn't know of... All thanks to your site Danny! May you keep blogging about all stuff Japan and i'll be supporting ya =)

What i would like to see more about your site, maybe Danny can blog on Tech stuff? Maybe show us some cool Akihabara gadgets or some super awesome PC that only Japan has =p... It would be a really good addition to those people who are into computer stuff...

Alright, this is all i have to say about DC.com ... Cheers to Danny and his company Mirai Inc and may both of it be prosperous in the future to bring us more good stuff!

You know, I cannot really remember how I found DC.com. I think it was probably via figure search, or tokyostormtrooper via youtube. Both of these stick out in my memory the vividest. Today, this website has become the cornerstone of my daily internet trawl; DC.com, youtube, blog.

What makes this site so special is a combination of the presentation and effort behind it (kudos to you and team, danny, for the mirai gaia), the VAST community which has gravitated here and their VAST interest base. This is not some forum where everything is hidden behind threads and whatnot; rather nearly every link has a large photo or picture, allowing for a library like experience with a crisp modern interface (I like the interface, leave it alone ^^). I can spend large portions of my day just linking around DC.com and otaku.fm just reading and enjoying all the anime and figures, or experiences in Japan.

What I value most, however, depends on your free time. I especially enjoy the roaming Japan and associated articles. The Hokkaido trip was a highlight. Daily excursions into Tokyo with the Lumix are a must read. Love 'em to bits. Taking snapshots that 'capture' a scene, i.e. people in it, cars, workers, are things we all take for granted at home, but when viewed from a different culture seem incredibly interesting.

I'll admit that Dolfies still arent my thing, but since Kagami is my waifu I'm not in the market anyway. Except [Kanade] might sway me.

I first came to DC was through a Mirai banner! I was going around in the maplesea forum and the dunno who put a mirai banner with link to DC at his/her signature bar (he got put disclaimer though). Why I clicked it? Because Mirai is cute! :D

I like Danny's articles on his daily life in Japan like his business trips, holidays, a week in Tokyo, food :D and those weird stuff in Japan lol. I totally have no idea when I could ever step onto the land of the Rising Sun so I am depending on Danny to show me the Japan now :D And of course, since DC have so many international readers, its a great place for networking!

Maybe instead of places all time, Danny can try stalking people lol :D I mean take photos of people in Japan like when they eating, palying or whatever. Its also great to show us what the different things Japan have like the underground bicycle parking lot that time :D

I guess I read the life in japan stuff when it peaks my interest, but I'm most interested in your figure reviews! The pictures sites post or the little extra comments really give me a feel for what i could expect from a figure. your photos are top notch, and in a couple of cases they really sealed the deal when it came to me picking out what figures i really wanted to order.
in that sense, i think it's SO awesome when you go around to all these awesome places i could never have access to. seeing the behind the scenes of all these companies is great.

For me, I found this site a few years back when I was looking at pictures from Japan. I wasn't an avid reader though, but did read your posts from the first time I came across haha and I remember seeing your Storm Trooper outfit.

I came back to visit earlier this year (Ahaha but didn't make an account till now >>) and found your blog grew so much! I like reading your business trips, and it's really interesting.

Hmm I'm curious to see the otome side to everything. Like Otome Road in Japan or things about the Otome game side to everything. Since you do talk about other eroge, but haha I suppose it's understandable since more people know about that. However your walks around Japan are quite an interesting fun read ^^

I got recommended DC from a friend who has been visiting this site for quite a while. As a person who grew up playing Japanese video games, I was immediately attracted by the various photos and articles about life in Japan. The reason I keep coming back is because you provide an interesting look at Japanese culture complimented by plenty of great photos.

What I would like to see more in DC are more articles on Japanese festivals and tradition that are only ever briefly touched upon in Anime (preferably some of the more obscure ones) and more photo walks :D

can't believe I've been viewing your site for years now. I first stumbled upon DC.com when I was searching for star wars avatars via google. Remember you were still using those pixelated star wars avatars way back 2005 or 2006 i think. It was just a plus that you also blog about life in japan in general and I always loved the photos you posted since this was the only blog that I know of, even till today, that posts a lot of photos (and I mean a lot) about everyday life in japan. This was also the place where I was influenced to start collecting figures and since then I've never looked back. I may have been busy and not comment that much these days but I still read your posts everyday via email feeds and occassionaly comment. I keep coming back basically for two reasons...your photos around japan and your experiences (kinda like getting myself ready for the day I go there), and the figure updates :D Sadly, Dollfies are just something I don't think I'll ever be getting into.

Oh and if by 1 in a x number of comments chance I get picked...[kanade] please. :D

I love the photo walks, the stories are always great to read, as they usually give great advice (like your most recent one regarding the quote). The customs you present (such as the umbrella being left around) are also very interesting to read about, it's really -the best- way to understand the culture without being there and learning through time, and kind of wish there was more of it to read on.
As for figures, I'd like to see more reviews for new items being released. Honestly though, I can't really say much else as everything looks pretty freakin' sweet as it is.

Started with Adun recommending me actually, its great he did but unfortunate i couldn't know about Dannychoo.com earlier while or before i started living my exchange year at the U of Tokyo. I would've definately loved to have met you and would've been great to be inspired abit more =).

Right now i just want the latest information and news on figures, and this comes from both the main post by danny as well as the member news. I used to love reading the member news but lately its been taking much more time than i have, and so I only read ones with titles that catch my eye.

I'd like to hear people's opinions on Japanese society and how it may or may not affect their thinking while they are or are not there to experience it. Its always great to spread the culture around and will benefit all in knowing more about each other.

Arguments and discussions are great, but unfortunately we don't have the moderators to be able to chair these and keep things in order, but it would definately give more depth to each post and topic. I liked how before there were long threads about these things and wish for it to come back as it gets people going back to the same posts for a week on end.

Another thing is i noticed theres follow comments on Twitter function but what if i want to perhaps save the thread and look at it again later at ease, so some sort of "favourites" box for us to use would be good, if not maybe just select RSS feed on whats posted on the specific threat we want to monitor like most forum
