People will still break the rules, they will still take photos or videos while outside the cafe and will still ask silly questions. That's human nature....

Quite. Not to mention you can't really dictate what people are allowed to do _outside_ your venue (granted outside the cafe is likely still within the venue of the festival, but still). :P

Yeah, there are people around who won't follow the rules no matter what, but there are also people with the courtesy to keep to them, so posting the rules will at least keep the amount of trouble lower than it would be otherwise. Plus it's harder to keep things orderly if you don't set some ground rules first.

Don't need to go to a maid cafe to see maids around these parts. I can just go to one of the foodcourts below any department store and the chances of getting to a place where people aren't dressed in uniforms are pretty close to zero.

I don't think they want to stop their customers having a good time, they just don't want the women working there to be treated disrespectfully or prevented from doing their job properly. I honestly wouldn't call any of the forbidden behaviours friendly - just harassment, and you can't blame the maids for not wanting complete strangers hitting on them all day. The sad thing is that there are enough people out there making common sense like not asking for her contact details necessary as rules.

It reminds me of the video you get to watch when in line at USJ (universal studios japan) for the Jurassic Park ride. As they explain no eating/drinking/talking on phone/smoking and such, it has a fat american dude acting them out on the ride while all the Japanese riders give him cold stares. Kinda like they're saying, hey, we know _you_ good folks won't do this, we're simply stating it so the bad foreigners don't get any ideas! Heh.

      Otaku ^^

As long as you are outside of the cafe premises, their rules doesn't apply. Unless the organizer specify no photography and video taking at the festival venue, then it's a bummer. Let me check if the website have specify their house rules?...

Very cute maids there ^_^ I think that the rules should be there but I doubt if everyone is going to respect them. I thought the video was quite funn; especially seeing how I thought the broom the maid was weilding was a katana at first ^^

Fanime holds a maid cafe. So should seasonal festivals in San Jose's and San Francisco's Japan Towns. Other than that, there are no places like that in the Bay Area.

Oh. Photography is prohibited outside of the cafe too. So, no photography in or outside of the cafe.

Yeah, they're cute alright. Unfortunately, a maid cafe is troubling for me seeing that I now have a girlfriend. Very troubling indeed.

Great video. I went to a Maid Cafe in Tokyo this summer and it was by far the most surreal experience of my life. Not cute, not happy or sad--just bizarre. I guess I'm not enough of an otaku to appreciate the moe moe kyun kyun <3 <3 <3 of it all.
