    I'm not a Lumix user but I know you can set the desired color temperature setting (as mentioned on the camera website) expressed in Kelvin. Fluorescent lights come in various kinds and they haven't got a specific color temperature (as they work differently from other light sources), it depends on the kind. Usually, a white fluorescent light is equivalent to 5200 K.

    Alternatively, I'm sure you can also do a custom white balance by photographing a white paper under the same lighting conditions.

    If you shoot RAW all of that is not really necessary, just select the proper color temperature when exporting the image to your image editing software.

    I'd like to see the stunning unpainted sample =P

    for LX3, I usually tweak the white balance using Adobe Camera Raw (jpeg or RAW): http://thumbnail-of-life.blogspot.com/2009/10/faq-raw-editor.html

    or, use the custom white balance on the camera and set it with aiming on something white under the fluorescent light

    Yummy photoshoot studio ^^ Would love to get my hand on those overhead lightning, but even if I did get one, there's still the space problem~XD

    Hmmmm, I thought spending few hours on figure photoshoot is normal ^^; Usually it took me that much when I did my reviews and that excluding photo editing. It could even take up more depending on the figure. The more you need to cover, the more time you need ^^;

    White Balance wise, it's something that I never really want to mess up. I just left it at Auto eventhough I always use Manual for photoshoot ^^;

    Looking forward to the TFS at AFA09, lots of stuffs to take photos on!! >_<;

    Lovely pictures as always Danny. Thank you for them! I use the same Command Strips to put up certain items I do not want to push pins through. Very handy! Tamaki's face looks awesome but her oppai are too large (yes I said it) and so I won't be getting her.

    My bike seat is above the handle bars. All the bikes I've had have been the same way. If it is below the handle bars I consider it a girls bike, if it is above then it is a boys bike.

    as for the seat being raised higher...you actually exert less effort when you can near fully extend your leg while peddling. This give you better down force leverage on the pedal and accesses your larger leg muscle groups better. Its a road cyclist technique. Its somewhat uncomfortable for those of us who are casual riders but if you look at avid road cyclists, which that bike screams, then you will see a higher and thinner seat.

    Just to note that bicycle is an Italian made Gios and is an amazing bicycle. My guess is that it is a $2-3000 bike and is probably the Carbon V-107 model. Id also guess that that whole bike weighs less than 5 lbs. :)

    The seat height on your bike should be set such that when your pedal is at the bottom of the stroke, your leg is very slightly bent. The handlebars can then be set at a height that is comfortable for you, usually higher is more comfy.

    I seen super size me, try to avoid fast food, or take in small amounts. Spurlock was doing an experiment, to see what would happen if he ate McDonald's for 30 days, three times a day. In one of his videos, he saw two kids, and their family suing McDonald for providing unhealthy/addicting food, that caused to be severely obese. Judge gave them 6 months to prove that it was McDonald's fault. So that's how the experiment began, Spurlock wanted to see how severly addicting/unhealthy it was. Heck, I have those videos favorited on youtube. I never look at fast food the same again.

      have seen it too. Its available in Bittorrent. ;P and saw it in cableTV, long ago.
      One of the points of Mr. Spurlock movie/experiment are the facts that are shown in the movie, not only his weight and sexual dysfunctional dolphin (¬_¬ man, I wrote it) but the number of obese people in US. The cases and dangers of being obese. The point is, nothing in excess, as it was written at the begining.
      Hmm also read some interesting comments about Food, INC, another movie about ermmm food. Haven't seen it yet, I'm such a coward. =S

        Also, just to add. During Mr. Spurlock's movie, theres a demo about how McDee food is addictive. Excess of sugar, casein, caffeine (its addictive, man I've been an addict to it). Show in facts and byt Mr Spurlock's behavior. Be afraid, be very afraid. ;P
        (But also, its not about being addict, just lazy to cook, or wit little time to eat well, which I think is one of the main reasons of obesity).

    Yea...after watching Super Size Me in school a few years ago, I have refused to eat anything from McDonald's and severely cut back on most other fast food places. I'm sure eating only one thing for an extended period of time can be bad for you, but that guy ate every item the menu offered including the salads. However, I feel its best just to eliminate all of that from my diet completely. The movie itself though is good and I would recommend it whether you hate McDonald's or not, its quite interesting.

    To get excellent color from your shots on the LX3 anywhere you go, I suggest you use a gray card, set your WB to custom and shoot away. Can be a bit tedious when you need to recalibrate your WB every time but I'm in a completely fluorescent lit office and I still manage to get pretty good results.

    not sure what version of the LX3 firmware your one is, but with the latest 2.1, it's better... but I stored a predefined custom setting for mine, and adjust the white balance if i feel it doesnt look right...

    image ID#81926: Looking at those noodles is making me hungry for Japanese food!

    image ID#81928: LOL that Pumpkin Billy is reaching under his pumpkin pants while looking at Reika! XD

    image ID#81941: I doubt GSC needs a mechanical engineer! XD

    image ID#81947: LOL! The expression on your face is priceless!

    image ID#81948: Don't they do that to bikes to make them more aerodynamic? When the rider leans forwards, it decreases wind resistance and therefore makes the bike faster. I dunno if it's more comfortable but I doubt it from the many bikers I've seen.

    image ID#81951: I'm not a fan of junk food. After the many stories I've heard and read, I've been eating less and less fastfood. Now the only McDees food I like is their breakfast meals (and I rarely get to order those!). If I must eat outside, I usually just settle for foodstuff sold in small stalls outside (I think they're called hawkers) or Chinese/Japanese food. I also believe in "everything in moderation" (although people nowadays don't think the same). If one wants to eat at McDees, then go ahead. But don't eat there often~

    Also, what was the secret message? O_o

    Danny, I was wondering if you could tell me where GoodSmile got their display cases? I've been looking for some cases for my collection and so far have only been able to find the ornate, wood-carved, Grandmother editions. The Case in image #81932 are exactly what I've been looking for.

        Ah so desu ne. The custom order method of a thousand suns. My quest continues then. Are the cases ordered from a local company? I've only got 80-86" of space to fill with display cases, so if the cases are not too expensive to custom order, I still am interested in reaching out to the case manufacturer to at least price them.
        Thank you for getting back to my question!

    You will need to do a custom white balance for the LX3. If I remember correctly you can do without a card but I still feel a card is the quickest and best way.

    I really think Nia is cute. I like her hair and eyes.

    Seat height is more efficient for peddling and drafting. This bike is set up for competitive cycling. Is it Aki-san bike? All this talk of cycling is getting exciting. I did a lot in my high school and early college days.

    Thanks for the heads up on jobs at GSC. Not so much for myself but my wife. She is in accounting/bookkeeping and has lots of experience in dealing with overseas accounts. I really want her to improve her English skills and learn more about US accounting principles while we are here in the states.

    I find it confusing that you refer to McDonalds as health food?This is number 2 cause of giant fat people in usa.Number 1 is lack of exersize!I eat at McDees probably 3 times a year,seriously!For what passes as health food here costs 3 times as much as regular food and comes in 1/3 the size!Strange since it is prepared with little or no salt,sugar,fat.Also from your pics food servings are huge!Amazing that you are not 200lbs heavier!

      Yeah, I wouldn't worry man, Danny refers to McDees as health food in a purely ironic sense. He does actually know that it is bad for you, he is simply using this irony as a point for humour. This is commonplace at DC.com, and of british wit in general really. And is quite funny! =D
