I love music from past decades, there's some stuff that is very original, unlike a lot of generic pop produced nowadays (well all popular music got its own share of generic songs, but now is a lot more prominent what with all the technological advances)

When I hear 'Japanese music from the 80s' all I can think of is Soft Ballet! They were most active in the early 90s as far as I know, but the synths and the vocal style reminds me a lot of pre-Violator Depeche Mode...I'm sure they were a big influence. Sadly I don't think Soft Ballet are releasing any more since it's been a while since the last record.

Other than that, my knowledge of pre-90s and 2000s Japanese music is really scant!

lolis and shotas! xD. But yeah, the songs certainly sound like something you'd hear in Asia's karaokes in the 80s and 90s.

I was a teen in the late 80s. I used to listen to Checkers, Bakufu Slump, Kudo Shizuka, BaBe, Wink, Ribbon, Rebecca, the Blue Hearts.... Think my favorite of all was BO0WY. My favorite shirt to wear back then was my BO0WY "Last Gigs" T shirt... good times good times..

I love listening to anime and japanese music, i have about 110 tracks in my cel, these are all i listen to all day. my fave idols are noriko sakai and miho morikawa. Danny, if i may, i found a site about idols, its at http://www.idollica.com/. its about the silver age of jpop as the site says. very interesting. My fave song for miho is Onna ni nare and Hiisama Zoom In when she was still young. She can sing i tell you, like your fave idol
