I wasn't aware there were any games that would work on a DS but not a DSi.

I would play it if it was in English, but I still have a bunch of of visual novels I'm behind on. I think I have a stack of 6 that I'm supposed to be finishing.

Many translations are poor. First of all there is the time issue. Then there is the quality of the translation and then there is the risk of the translation to break stuff.

The latter is more true than people realise. For instance I once encountered some German software which needed to be installed in program files. It turned out that in German it's called C:\Programmen\ (or something like that) and then it didn't survive being put in C:\Program Files\ because of the whitespace. It wouldn't work unless it was in there either. This turned out to be a serious problem.

Another issue is that Blizzard releases their games on mac/windows discs. If you buy it in Polish the mac part has mysteriously disappeared. At least that's what the Polish guys have told me.

Apple once made a new MacOS (or was it even pre MacOS days?) where it worked fine and they translated it to all the European languages. For some reason one of them (just one) got really unstable because they had messed with something wrong and they had to start over with translating. They detected this before the release though, so I'm not sure if it really counts.

Another issue with translations is that I have noticed that even professional translators do Japanese->English->whatever. This means it moves even further away from the original. I first noticed this when watching Spirited Away (or Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) and it was a voice dub. I could hear them saying odd stuff once in a while because it was word by word translation from English. Basically the translation sucked because it wasn't even done right from English and I found a list of translation flaws in the English translation as well.

Because of this I prefer to get everything in the original language or a direct translation from the original language (which usually means English). I consider it a serious issue that we switch to English rather than using our native languages but reality is that we have to do so and it's an issue in a whole lot of countries.

I sometimes think that perhaps I should do everything in one language, but which one? not all countries have opportunities to study. and then I myself have often serious problems in translating and writing sentences in English. I think that in fact the way things should be left with all the mistakes! ^_^"
For the question of routes of windows, it seems strange that nowadays, the software house do not use environment variables like %program files% rather than putting path as C:\Programmen\ or C:\Program Files\ or similar crap. should tell him to evolve .. ^_^"

thanks for the comment, very informative and constructive! ;)

With how game time matches up with real time, the game seems pretty pointless when you could be dating real people. Which means I must have it. :D

I was going to buy it, but I don't know if Konami is up to the job and the art reminds me of Soramizu a bit too much and I've never been much of a fan of Ciel's games (Fault!! etc.) at least there are always PSP ports on their way.

You could always try Snow Sakura. It's in English and it's great. It's a bit slow in the beginning but it's needed to build up the story, which makes the game so great after a while. It's also full of humour which doesn't repeat itself so you will not grow tired of the humour ^^

I don't get why people play games on DS. The screen is so small and the resolution is poor.

The game itself looks like it has some interesting stuff. The girls move during conversation unlike all the dating sims I tried where it were just a bunch of still images. Sure it looks good but moving is better.

However somehow I don't think I would like this game. Something tells me that I wouldn't like the story and a VN is worthless unless the story works. I can't tell why I have the feeling that the story fails in this game, but that's my impression. I wonder if I'm mistaken though because it seems to be popular. Have any of you guys actually tried this one?
