lol that's a ridiculous price; glad to see the reactions are negative from the Japanese otaku themselves.
Getting better products is a simple matter of voting with your wallet.

But the problem with that is everybody needs to do it :-)

I've been spending alot less money on anime and merchandise.
The last anime i've bought was Nadesico's box set at a con several months ago for nostalgia. And the merchandise before that was when I last went to Japan in November.

Why ? I don't think alot that's coming out recently is worth buying.
I've been spending my moneys on retrogaming these days which is more fun.

I guess people might buy it to show off the box, but there's a limit to this kind of stuff. The companies that do this must be making money because they keep sell junk, but I can't imagine how much demand these products have.

Hmm If you check the source site closely, for the 4200 yen you get 2 sets of the Tonkotsu ramen (each with 2 rounds of ramen) and 2 sets of the sausages (total of 6 sausages).

So each set costs about 1000 yen each. It's actually pretty reasonable in price.
I'd buy it if I was still in Japan.

As for the bottom pic, Mugi rocks! (^o^)

Since I just came back from my holiday in Japan and spent all of my money.. I've definitely been spending more on anime goods lately.

Ummmmm... no thanks. (and I thought blowing half my recent paychecks in August on getting my bicycle fixed and groceries was overkill... yeah >.<)
