Very cute mascot. But alas, I have no iPhone. And doubt I ever will unless I get given one as a birthday/xmas gift or something.
Student
Hmm, I think you misunderstood: Android isn't some application for iPhone, it's an smartphone operating system (like iPhone has an operating system called iPhone OS).
Phones with Android are frequently called G-phones or Google phones, because Android was initially developed by Google. Android is also on of the biggest competitors to iPhone OS and iPhone in general. Androids' main strength is that it is open source software and is free.

Why can't we get cool marketing bits like that here in the US? I'm waiting for my contract to run out so I can dump WinMo for Android, but am already working on some apps of my own. Java > ObjC any day, and with Apple shooting itself in the foot lately with app approvals Android seems the way to go. WebOS is pretty, but I'm not sure Palm has the the legs to stand up against a free, open source OS.

I have an Android phone and I find the OS simply fantastic! However it has to be tweaked in some aspects in the next releases... The store is full of apps more or less like the Apple Appstore it has nothing to envy and users didn't had to wait more than three OS releases before getting things like copy-paste functions and MMS (in Italy we still have SMS and MMS, no e-mail yet) and, much more important, it's completely integrated with the online Google Apps, YAY FOR NATIVE CALENDAR SYNC!
Btw... Yes, I want that strap :/

Also to hear that it's from the "Good Smile Company" makes it even more special, so if you could kindly give me some directions on how to get my hands on some of those.....heheheheh:P

I like the mascot design, it's very simple but it conveys the message well... plus it's adorable.
I think the idea for phones to have a common operating system is great, then the software and apps would be available for everyone.
The question is, will they get everyone on board with this?
Interaction design, Iphone game/app designer
Well so far half the world in on board, so it is hardly the question anymore. The question is rather, will Apple, Android or one of the old boys such as Windows, Symbian etc. Be dominant in the future age of smart phones and smart devises.

I love the idea of Google making a Smartphone OS, but I wonder about it's 3rd party backing. The reason I want an iPhone is because of it's 3rd party support, if Android doesn't have at least a small base off which to work I'll be a bit put-off.

that's an awesome android strap. i have the g1 and it doesn't have a strap placement...unless i'm blind. it would make a great key chain though.
i'm a android game developer and i have so far released 3 games. developing for the android market is pretty great. yes, it's a bit small right but there's so much more potential for upcoming indie game/app developers to get noticed by the world.

Love my new android phone, got the HTC Dream, and the OS is great...
only thing is, for simple users who don't know too much bout the tech stuff, i would suggest the iphone (even tho i hate them myself, they are simplier for some to use), but if you're more versed in the tech and programs and such and know how to do stuff with your computers that most others wouldn't (i'm talking useful and interesting stuff) then you'd probably find the android OS very nice also. it just takes a but more learning to do the really cool stuff

[edit] Aftermarket installations
Some users have been able (with some amount of hacking, and with limited functionality) to install Android on mobile devices shipped with other OSes:
The Openmoko phones (Neo FreeRunner and Neo 1973) have limited support since Google's release of the Android source code on 21 October 2008.[44] As of 4 November 2008 (2008 -11-04)[update], the whole source stack compiles, with the kernel, user interface and most applications working, but telephony, SMS, suspend/resume and wifi, which rely on lower level hardware features, are not fully working.[45][46] In early 2009 Cupcake images were demonstrated and available as flashable images.[47]
Motorola A1200 Ming[48]
HTC Kaiser: a port is in progress, not all features work at the moment[49]
HTC Vogue[50]
HTC Touch Diamond: not all functions work (including Wifi)[51]
HTC Touch Pro[52]
Nokia N810[53][54]
Nokia 770[55]
Asus EEEPC 1000H[56]
Touch Book from Always Innovating[57]
Dell Axim x51v [58]
HTC Touch HD: similar to the Touch Diamond, not all features work such as wifi and audio during voice calls[59]
Samsung Omnia: basic functions (no camera or wifi, occasional blockage, needs to be installed on an SD card) [60]

I usually dont give a crap about the programming side of os-es as long as it is 'beautiful'. Both vista and osx are beautiful in its own way... it all comes down to preference. I am both a osx and vista user so i say this from experience.
Anyways back to topic, android will be a fresh new exciting opportunity for the world of mobile computing and hasn't really got its chance to flex its muscle so lets just wait and see. Symbian has been here for some time and to be frank its damn BORING! At least its boring for me and i would definitely look forward for some change in Android.

Gosh terible piece of crap .Hope that it wont take much space .All i want for a hP os preety simple ,A good camera, big talk time and stand by time .Coz i enjoy taking photos on the go,using internet on the go and etc .Now of these days Sony is getting a lots of crap did my research especially on C901 and the latest IDOU . So since SE wants to use android and spit loads of crap well im so goin back to nokia .Hoping that android will be the best and SE to spit less nonsentical stuff ever again .
