You can't really judge something like that based on a small comment like that.

The video looks horrible imho. The ending aside, the clips they used to show off are far from what I come to vision the chief. I can think of two particular clips that annoy me; firstly, the spartan vs arbiter dueling stance. I cannot picture anything of that sort taking place in Halo, and I felt it was far out of place.

As well, the chief and his "falcon punch" as I will now be terming it. The put so much emphasis on him doing so, that it kind of has me /face palming. I'd have liked to have thought it was a bit more "believable". Granted, this is pure sci-fi, but I don't think a punch can pull that kind of velocity

So MAYBE it's just me, but I'm seeing the video for what it is, and trying to hope for what it should have potentially been.

I'll get back to waiting for REACH and ODST.

          wow...
From what you say, a lot of what you thought are problems are actually common media transistion outcomes.
Like from games to anime, books to movies, comics to big screen etc...

Like I'm sure the Master Chief isn't portrayed to 1 v 1 with the covenant in the game, but its a totally possible scenario and I think many people are dying to see such a duel.

And anime camera angles does emphasize and make movements big. Anime is big on "cool" and "improportionate body style" which allows anime to present more dramatic actions... its a good thing.

Hmm instead of not liking it, I think the more correct way of saying it is you're not used to it. Hehe, ~you really an otaku? ^_^

Well anyway, Halo won't be the first game to anime production, sadly, most have great artwork but poor storyline. Still the action seems worth the watch.

I'd like to think enough of an otaku, considering I do collect a ton of figures, play doujin games, enjoy watching a lot of anime (though I prefer the manga genre much more), as well as having been a member of this community for almost three years.

Transition from mediums is not an issue. Consider similar projects like Gotham Knight and Animatrix. Both have exaggerated looks, drama and anything that comes along with western media moving onto an eastern palette. However, at their very core, I felt that both novelties (batman and the matrix) were well presented in that they retained that essential feel.

My issue is that from _some_ of the clips, two of which I stated above. I cannot picture master chief doing any of the above mentioned. For an efficently trained spartan, I cannot picture master chief engaging in a duel like stance. As well, I find it "uncool" to have master chief engaging in a fist fight with a brute (from what it seems) when, if iirc, it has been confirmed how futile such an idea would be to confront a brute in close combat, regardless of spartan training and enhancements.

I Felt the need to sign up just to give you a little information... I know you dont see Master cheif acting like that... and you are very correct ( for the 1v1 sword battle thing... I Totally agree), and might i add im a huge halo fan. But, what TK 4249 stated is fact... not all those spartans were master chief... the one doing the running punch CLEARLY was not master cheif... the number on his suit was easily legible... 1337 and in no order of those numbers can you get Spartan 117 or S-117 (Master Cheif) and he says his code at the end of Halo 2 when on Regrets Ship on the way back to earth... Chief = 117 that spartan = 337 i think or 133, which ever, dont fit the cheif... Next the sword fight... as much as i dont like it... it can happen... near the end of the book "Fall of Reach" Master Chief gets into a CRAZY fist fight with an elite... if you read it its quite enjoyable to imagine... (FYI they were fighting in zero gravity Lol ^^^) very entertaining... So all in all the situations in the video are totally legitamite... and also on your last point about it being futile... Master cheif was never the best at anything... He might have won everything better than the rest of the spartans... but he was known as the "LUCKY" one... Spartan Linda = Best Sniper on the team, Kelly = the Fastest Spartan on the team, I forget who the biggest spartan was but there was a spartan that was bigger and stronger than the chief but he died by a Hunter early in the book when they were raiding a museum... how not cool ^^^. And Cortana is on reach and for all we know might be with cheif in this anime if chief shows up...

I also made a account specificly t ocomment this post. If I remember right (IDK if I am because its been a while since I read fall of reach) Master chief only engaged in close quarters combat with the elite because his gun was knocked away from him, And when he did it was a very awkward because of the energy shield on energy shield occurance. I also think that the bigger spartan just got his arm blown off by the hunter not killed but like I said my memory might fail me. Anyways on topic IDK what to think about this. The brutes looked way to stupid IMO but I do like the way its depicted. IDK though it seems that the anime style would make everything look to japanese when this game is made to be VERY VERY American pleasing (run and gun its a bro game) and therefore they would try to drag on fights longer then they need to be. Halo IMO is suppose to be a very fast action game and the spartans shouldnt take there time and be dramatic when they would much rather get there mission done but hey its just my opinion and personaly I dont usualy adore anime, Magna is good and I like old style anime (like sword on sword were dramatic fights fit) But I just cant see halo working well as a anime movie.

I believe the Toei one is actually a parody of the characters from the Halo universe, from what I heard on other sites reporting the video. I do agree the dueling stance was kinda out of character for the series, but thats what I like about these multi-studio "based-off" collections that have been coming out. You get to see someone outside of the original creators and from a totally different culture do their spin on a famous work. I just wish they would do something as progressive with a Japanese franchise such as Macross or Gundam.

The Falcon Punch thing was from Bones' short film that "pokes fun at Halo characters." I knew that was the case after seeing spartan 1337.

The fighter jet scene seemed a bit odd to me tho'... cool but just odd.

Looks like a mediocre series for a mediocre game! Sure, as console-based FPS goes the Halo series was okay, but tbf it was never anything incredible & from what you can glean from the trailer (which isn't much, what with most of the screentime spent on panning around the big title letters instead of showing any sort of details about plot) it looks to be a generic action series for halo fans to squee over masterchief.

Tough title to pick for animating; the Halo fans are not going to settle for anything less that absolute excellence. Also, I'm not very sure that alot of fans are going to like seeing a SPARTAN's face; I for one think that the "faceless unsung hero" concept is better for the Halo series.

A live action movie or 3D movie of Halo would be easier to deliver that a 2D work. One reason is that in-game, the action is thick and spread out across the field and amongst different characters; in animation it tends to focus on one person. If I were a Halo fan who just heard about this from Gametrailer itself, the least I would expect is for a random Marine in the background to get shot while the Chief runs past the camera. I don't think they're going to animate something like that for the series.

From what the trailer shows, the hand-drawn animation could do with a bit more fluidity, while the CG could be less stiff. But meh, this is still in its infancy and I'm sure the people-in-charge know what they're doing.

Also, one point for some random SPARTAN in heavy-weapons flight armor. XD

FAIL! You got halo in my anime! After matrix, batman, pitch black, witch blade, etc when is enough enough? Is this going to be something serious and thoughtful or is this just another marketing ploy to bridge the gap between halo 3.5 and 4? Can't suitable CG shorts be crafting in north america(red vs blue)? Why must they fill up the anime studios already full schedules with this stuff? Do they thing this will sell them more 360s by making them seam more Japanese??? Caulk up another failure to Microsoft!

It is bad enough that we try to make hollywood movies from anime, but why must we try and make anime out of western properties???

I like my halo pure and bungie(circa 2000). Halo would not be were it is now with out microsoft, but when you've got Kotobukia under your thumb to make halo 3 figure, something has to give. I'm begining to wonder if i really want Peter Jackson's halo movie to come to light or not......

    Halo is not anime!

haha u make no sense... and ur a heretic.. and its not bridging anything.. its 7 or 8 stories that tie in with the rest of the halo lore some how..(there is one that is non-canon though.. the falcon punch one) halo has a story that would fit perfect into an anime.. ur just considering the game story.. read the books and graphic novels.. exactly

I don't know...reserving judgement, but I find the mix of 3D CG and 2D animation a bit discomforting. Doesn't mesh as well as, say, Ghost in the Shell, so I really hope the real thing is different than the trailer.

Over here we have a special category of nerd, the Halo nerd. This title is given to anyone who has ever played Halo long enough that they see it in their sleep (first all you see is a little dot in the center of where ever you look, then slowly it turns in to the game screen). To earn the title of super Halo nerd you must be able to snipe four targets while jumping off a blood gulch base in Halo 1; or something to that effect.

As for these shorts, I figure as long as Bungie has a hand in how they're made they should turn out good.

They should have animated it like Starship Trooper animation (Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, I'm not sure i remember this correct), only that kind of animation will do justice to the game series HALO. The level of realitism, the amount of textures, how the battle scar carries over in the series (unless he get to change his armour every episode), the fast action fluid dynamic movement of everything, and not to forget the sound system that will put you into the battle scenes.

As for story, no comment?, its up to Microsoft.

I haven't played Halo yet. I'm not really a fan of the futuristic setting. I prefer the present-day, good ol'C4 and 5.56mm round setting XD

The trailer is pretty good but I feel that the animation and the CG should have been better. I can't say that it'll suck because I'm having mix feelings about it right now~

Never played HALO before but I've seen my cousin playing before.
    Not my type of game.

    So its 7 unlinked stories?
The different styles reminds me of Animatrix.

The anime looks cool, have to watch out for it. But i don't like the Halo franchise anyway. Played Halo 3 and don't see the OMGWTFBBQ stuffs that people have been saying. The graphics suck so hard. I agree the online is really good. But then the weapons.... blah -_-

Killzone 2 > Halo 3. Period. At least i prefer Killzone 2 graphics, story, gameplay and guns over the whole Halo franchise =/

No offense to Halo fans though, just saying out ><

you have your right to your opinions... Killzone 1 was good (never got to playing Killzone 2 but i can assume its atleast AS good as number 1)... it was my output when i had no Xbox of my own to play halo... and Killzone with its bots was an awsome game to occupy my shooter needs... but all of the Halo games Trump all Shooters (I Swear to god if a GoW fanboy or COD4 fanboy flames me they can go to hell)... why do you think when ever a Shooter comes out its asked if its the "Halo Killer" because Halo is THEEE Shooter. Dont mean to step on anyones toes but its true... Killzone is a great game but not as good as Halo/ Halo2/ Halo3/ and soon to be Halo3 ODST/ Halo Reach

I love the Halo series seeing how I played it from when it orginally came out to Halo 3 on Xbox 360. I think this will be pretty cool but I am looking more forward to the Halo movie which is scheduled for 2012. Jeez, that is going to be a long wait ^^

I'll watch it, yeah. Love Halo3, so why not?

Just hope they do some anime parody of Gears or something like that. It would be entertaining to me and I assume others as well, even though it would make a better Hollywood Blockbuster since the stories are particularly short.

    Same with Halo, actually.

Never played halo, watched buddies played it, didn't seem as fun as how most people were boasting about it. I keep thinking to myself that it's selling points are because it looks sort of like star wars(Sorry!). Thats just the feeling I get whenever I see it. I don't know, but it seems that futuristic settings are really popular, but i'm more into a japanese mech style of futuristic setting like ummmm gundam.
Probably won't watch it, haven't watched any new anime lately anyways since they all seem to lack the contents that peaks my interests.

It has more of a Star Wars atmosephere in the story line if anything... Otherwise its just a get down and F*** up anyone you see and survive shooter

    a 'creative' type

Looks pretty cool, i like the different styles/takes on the whole halo universe - i know the film got well'n'truely sidelined but i can't believe no-one thought of doing some kind of animation series before now!

Only played the 1st halo game, and that was on PC, would love to play the other 2 + any of the new games just to 'feel' the universe but i can't quite justify adding a 360 to my PS3 + Wii setup 'just' for halo...btw, that wasn't an invite to start the console-fanboy-type comments, i have my reasons for my decisions ^_^

I'll certainly take a look at this once it's on disc!

3 words... Red vs Blue... Hilarious as hell, if you wants a good series watch that.

It does that a WHILE to get into it if you start from the very first episode but honestly it is one of the most entertaining series' about the halo universe you will ever watch... every episode you will laugh... atleast after the first few episodes and all the characters are introduced and you start to learn their personallities... Caboose is AWESOME lololol
