これ重機と言うんでしたっけ?英語では"Construction Vehicle."
イギリスの重機はでかくて、日本の小さいかわいい重機はいいよね。

The big machines are still used here in the states and there are even bigger ones used in some of the mining interests but these smaller machines are being used now as well. The primary street that I live off of has been under a major renovation and widening effort for the last year and you can find all sizes of dozers and back hoes and cranes in use.

We in UK still use those Yellow and red (uncommon) ones. The lil diggers are quite small bu not as small as the one in Japan.

The ones I spotted recently are similar to these or exact:
    - Backhoe Loader
    - Micro Excavator
    - Compact Excavator
    - Multi Purpose Vibratory Compactor
    - Double Drum Vibratory Roller

Those little ones (trackhoes) are cute but are mostly for putting in water lines and landscaping. Tough you could do light demolition with them.

The reason we have the big yellow ones is to get things done in a timely manner. You couldn't use one of the small ones to put in a sewer system. They don't have the reach to get down sometimes over 25 feet (7.62m), nor do they have the strength to lift the pieces of the manholes and place them. You could build a storm pond with a little one but lets get serious with a 1/3 cubic yard (.25 cubic meter) bucket on a small one versus a 3 cubic yard (2.29 cubic meter) bucket on the larger models, who will be done first.

Everything is designed with a purpose. The big ones for serious dirt moving. The little ones for more domestic type work.

But they are fun to play with. ^^

Also those power lines are a big time menace. I've seen people get blow out the cab and seriously injured by just brushing a power line.
I've known of people getting killed for the same.

Needless to say a big honking chunk of steel conducts electricity very well.

I think it depends on the use. A small vehicle would do small works. Also the brand determines the color, heard many times the yellow CAT (from the Yellow color used by Caterpillar).

Can remember where or when, neither which was the name of these multipurpose truck.
It was just small, 3 persons can be on the cabin. It was small but it had so many add ons, that can be easily connected to the engine. I barely remember it, neither if it was german or russian. But when I saw it (on TV of course), thought I want a car like that! =P~

Also... dunno if its correct but Danny-san comments made me remember racist jokes =/
I'm bad bad bad bad. =(

I've actually driven that thing a couple of times, and all I can say about it is LOL. The thing is capable of inflicting massive damage inspite its size- especially with the jackhammer attachment.

We got those over here. They're often used by private light duty contractor's or private owner's for work. Rarely have I seen them being operated by large scale operations due to the limitations of the machine. I have seen them being used for burrying undergorund powerline through lawns and other places where minimal disturbance of the ground is needed though mostly they are used in the cemetaries over here.
