Too bad it couldn't have picked up a gun as the commentator was talking. Now *that* would have been epic beyond words.

Wait! Maybe that's what they plan to do for an *ending* ceremony! They'll have it pick up the gun, then blow off its head as it raises the gun high for a reenactment of the final battle! *That's* why the statue's not permanent! It all makes sense now!

It's really touching that people can get together and enjoy something like this. A kind of cross-generational memorial that Gundam was and still is the big thing.

The majority of the visitors looked like your average folks though. I expected to see more otagei. Or at least Char cosplay.

The only thing that disappoints me is it can't roam around and start DESTROYING everything in site. What to do when you are piloting a giant robot? Of course it is to destroy things right?

Beautiful lights, I wish I could see it with my own eyes, a life sized gundam is too good to be true especially if it could be operated like one in the anime.

I almost posted this myself because I hadn't seen it yet.

Gackt was there too~ he did some narration and they played the song of his that Gundam used a few years back. I have a feeling almost no Gackt fans knew he would be there because I couldn't hear many screams of joy from the audience. Strange... /random

It was awesome being there. I still can't believe I was lucky enough to be able to go to the opening ceremony. Ended up spending way too much cash on merch there too. Had to get the gunpla version of it. Ended up buying several of it and lots of other stuff. ^^'

For those able to go I highly recommend it. It's an awesome sight to see for real and not only on pictures. I was stupid enough to only bring along the camera without any extra batteries.. didn't even think about bringing the battery grip. So I've decided that I will have to go again. Will be easier getting better pictures when the place is not flooded with people too. ^^'
