cheap or costly umbrellas here have one thing in common. any wind turns them upside down on the stick so they start collecting rain water instead of channeling it away. rofl. happened to me sometimes and i felt like a walking dodo.

So is it an accepted fact that one of these umbrellas left at an entrance is free to take? I could imagine somebody going into a shop or restaurant, leaving their wet umbrella at the entrance, then coming out after their shopping/meal to find them all taken & having to walk home in the rain!
I gave up on umbrellas when I went to university on the west coast of Wales - even expensive "wind-resistant" umbrellas didn't last more than 1 trip up the hill to the campus!
