I've heard about these Smart chairs that it will be the car of tomorrow .

The thing has its own AI and it travels to 15 km/h .

An interesting way to work.

What happens when they catch the person causing trouble? Would they have to sit down where their legs are or just walk along next to them? =P

Maybe its speed is a little faster than a person running and this machine really shows the world that Japan is really advanced, but other than that, I think that this machine will waste a lot of electricity, resources and make people lazy too.

I'm sure this is the dream of the stereotypical donut-eater fat officer :P

Okay, that looks interesting and all, but I'm trying to see the purpose of these personal transporters. Apart from being a comfy Segway you can sit on, what it's meant for? A product that doesn't address a specific need would likely never take off.

Is it safe to take to the road? I don't see any signaling lights or headlights that is commonly required for road safety. It doesn't seem to have any way to ward off the weather. What about some kind of boot to store your belongings while you drive around?

It's a nice idea to go around with these baby but I can imagine 100 years from now a lots of overweight person will own one to help them to navigate around since they can hardly walk at all.

Interesting but I can't find it being practical yet. Sure you can catch up with the guy if he's fleeing, but how do you catch the guy while sitting on a chair? Get off the chair then catch him or run him over?

i heard about this 2-3 years ago on an episode of top gear, and some of the features on it are actually quite cool.

I'm not afraid of some i-REAL. I bet I could get away from one no problem.
Run into narrow spaces, shopping floors or hit the stairs.
This'll probably get them coppers off their bums and run for me but then I will try and steal their i-REAL and get onto the roads which will then lead to those TV cop chases.

Needs a slash harken shooter if they really are going to use this as part of law enforcement. Besides, crowded conditions will kill its reliability. I can hardly imagining telling people to scram and make way for my 15km/h Nascar Chair. :P

a bike is more usefull... faster and more efficient to go in traffic jams, high speed chases etc.

I saw one of these for the first time on Top Gear on BBC America a few month ago. They are almost like an iPod with wheels. They can locate other i-Reals around them and share stuff.

I would be impressed if it was miles instead of kilometers. I think in a real emergency, running would be better. Besides, these things can't handle stairs or escalators.
