東京は1/1スケールガンダム、神戸は1/1スケール鉄人28。

 「ビルのまちに ガオー」。神戸市出身の漫画家横山光輝さん(1934〜2004年)の代表作「鉄人28号」の原寸大モニュメントの制作が大阪府岸和田市の工場で進んでいる。建設予定地のJR新長田駅南地区の若松公園(神戸市長田区)に7月下旬、運ばれて組み立てられる。9月下旬には完成し、巨大な正義の味方がまちを見下ろす。(河尻 悟)

 モニュメントはアニメ版と同じ高さ18メートル。地元の商店主らが「阪神・淡路大震災で大きな被害を受けて再開発が進むまちの起爆剤に」と企画し、06年に計画を発表した。総工費は1億3500万円。神戸市が07年度予算で4500万円を補助し、残りは企業や個人から協賛金を募っている。

 鋼鉄製の鉄人は、大阪府岸和田市の金属加工会社「北海製作所」が昨年11月から制作。今月23日には高さ2メートルを超す頭部の形がほぼできあがり、試験的に胴体と接合された。巨大な鉄人の出現に、携わった職人の顔も思わずほころんだ。林孝彦社長(44)は「忠実に再現するのが難しいが、二度とない仕事なのでやりがいがある」と力が入る。

 搬出は7月20日から始まり、同27日に起工式がある。10月4日に完成式典が開かれる予定。

 協賛金の問い合わせは、特定非営利活動法人(NPO法人)「KOBE鉄人プロジェクト」事務局TEL078・646・3028(土日祝休み、午前10時半〜午後5時半)

 鉄人28号 1956年、横山さん22歳のときの作品でロボット漫画のはしり。子どもたちの間で大ヒットし、テレビアニメの第1作は63〜66年に放映された。関連作品が相次いで制作され、2005年には実写版の映画が公開された。

        i think knightmare will be out first cuz the story begins at 2010... not far from now .maybe the 1st generation ones? they wont build those with high spec. cuz radiation .

    hell yeah!! / if they made an eva i would start working day and night without rest as soon as they announce it so i can go there and see it with my own two eyes o.o XD / yea... probably those mechas'll be used when the supposed world end comes in 2012 they'll save the world or take a lil bunch of ppl to mars or the moon lol / mechas have become an important part of japan's culture i think the whole mangAnime thing has made japan famous even among children i mean the first ``cartoons`` i watched were dragonball pokemon digimon and some gundam i write ``cartoons`` because at that time in my life i thought those were cartoons and didn't know they were called anime and were from japan XD but when i was like 9 years i opened my eyes to the light *o* and came to the dark side of the force XD that's all ....     I guess apart from contributing to tourism, its looks good on the resume on the industrial manufacturing companies? I'm sure its quite difficult constructing all those custom moulds, the technical ability too.

    It's good for a couple of laughs...though you'd wish all these skilled engineers etc. would spend their time creating something that actually...functions. I'd rather see a RA terror drone that works then some massive robot statue that just stands there for show.
