        I believe they get that "toy" look by applying a slight blur effect to whatever isn't the focus. Not sure why it works...

          I think it works because you usually see that depth of field blur effect with macro shots that are focused on something really close to the camera. I guess in this case it looks like a close up of a model city. With tilt-shift you get that blur effect even when the camera is super far away, so the large city ends up looking like a tiny model with little people walking around.

          it's just how our eyes work, but there are two ways of getting tileshift effect, you can use a tileshift lense, which is EXTREMELY expensive... or you can just just use image editing program...

          this video of Sydney was shot with a tileshift lense ;)

    Where are they taking some of these videos from? These time lapse videos always seem to be taken from extremely high locations. I feels like they are hanging a camera from outside of a helicopter.
