lol why do they have to make the robots look creepy, whats up with the hands anyway.... I can still picture these robots going haywire and throwing food everywhere.
That tray robot looks pretty stable but i think a little push and it will fall over... and there goes the food/drinks. But I'm still amazed at how it balances so well.
Student
I'd still prefer human cooking :O

I would love to have a robot cooking my meals ^_^ , but I wouldn't like having exactly the same version of my meals every time. I love cooking because I can add things, change ingredients, have random amounts of seasonings or ingredients often, and it all makes each meal unique to some degree. The robot would be programmed to make the food exactly how it is programmed, so there is no ambiguous results...which makes cooking fun and enjoyable(the food as well) IMHO.
Okonomiyaki robot: pretty cool ^.^
Sushi robot: *shudder* creepy for sure. *ponders the naughty uses for sushi robot hand* hehehe. XD
Tray robot: I could seriously use one of those. :D

Too cool!

that's so cool! not too creepy for me lol

They're taking away more and more blue collar jobs! What will all the useless young people of the future learn the toil of menial labor if they have no jobs to sweat at? But really.. does Japan need labor-saving technological advances with unemployment now at a seven year high among other unfavorable economic circumstances?

Seems like it could be a hit or miss. Unless the food item is extremely easy, the prep work would be prohibitive to making this work. It's a nice advance, but that's about all you can say for the time being.

Is it only a matter of time before they have more then the hands looking human!?
Perhaps our future generations will end up obese like in the film Wall-E? Well if the robots end up doing more then just cooking...

Or you could just hire an immigrant for the same amount, but what do the Chinese or Koreans know about cooking anyway?
Student
http://foxkey.blog126.fc2.com/
Wow, this thing is amazing, though I see this as more of an item for.. public services? rather than in the house. Human cooking will always be superior.
And why would that be, lol?
Cooking is chemistry lolz, a recipe is nothing but a simple algorithm for combining ingredients...perfect for robots to follow...
Instead of relaying the work to inreliable kitchen folk a chef will be able to let a robot create the dish just like he imagined it. Cooking would exactly be one of those things that humans are vastly inferior at. All it requires are predetermined actions.
Student
i somehow disagree
maybe cause i saw someone say exactly the same thing from a jdrama and was proven wrong but thats beside the point
only a human can make the necessary adjustments according to their observations as well as various factors that a programmer working with a master chef may not be able to come up with.
the food would fit the taste of 1 person, and thats the person who came up with the recipe. recipe's don't necessarily give the best tasting foods.
yes it can easily own my cooking, the robots that would be made soon, but not my mother's etc etc

I would still prefer to do my own cooking to having it done by a robot, but they are pretty cool. That tray robot would come in very useful.

No robot, no matter how good it is at cooking, will ever replace a chef who puts his whole heart into making a dish that will make his customers and family happy!

This is the future! Soon human chefs do not need to actually physically cook. All they have to do is program the recipe into the robot; they can then sit back and relax, maybe cook once in a while when they feel like it.

*sigh* I hope that, if this goes on sale, it would only be available to the wealthy. I do not want to see a future wherein robots do all the work (laundry, cooking, driving, etc). If such a future is inevitable, we're better off dead!
But it does look cool~ LOL XD
