You CAN resist! If you don't want to switch over to another cell phone plan. The Palm Pre is actually the best contender since the iPhone was introduced.

from what I've read, it was pretty much "as rumoured" which made it a little boring. No sudden twists or extras.

But I'll see what reviewers say when it's released. if it's a big enough difference, then I'll upgrade my current Iphone as my contract is nearing it's end.

Well in the past in the country i live now the release of the iPhone get a very late daily before is available so peoples import it for the lower price.

2nd reason is some peoples don't like the telephone provider that got the license of it.

Its like on a Blackberry not everybody also take take the Blackberry service ??

A 13 inch macbook pro? I see that as an affordable mobile desktop hooked to an external monitor. For a pro product, the screen is too small for my liking.

I can't wait for the new iPhone next week. I think it's a good upgrade from my 1st Gen, whereas the current 3G wasn't really and similarly, if I had a 3G I don't know if it would be worth the upgrade, however faster new hardware is always nice.

And Snow Leopard for $29 upgrade from Leopard is pretty great, definitely going to do that when its out.

Yeah, that's for a new mac, you just pay for postage I think.

$29 to upgrade from any Leopard installation seems to be how they are selling it.

I think its $129 for an upgrade from Tiger.

I read the new MacBook battery would also be built-in wouldn't that mean that if your battery malfunctions you have to send the MacBook to Apple for repair?
While extra battery life seems fine and dandy, having to send your laptop in for repairs for a battery exchange seems very silly...

Yah, caused a lot of discussions when they released the 17" MBP (Late 2009) with
the built in battery last year.
But thats how they got that awesome battery life. Getting rid of the battery exchange mechanism.

As most people don't have an Apple Retail Store around the corner sending in your MB will be the only joice if the battery goes nuts.

Well from my professional opinion and personal choice, I'd rather see a more efficient support solution for battery replacement than a few hours more of battery life which most users will probably never use as they plug in their power adapter quite fast anyway.

As I said, extra battery life is awesome... but at the expense of having to send in your laptop, your means of work for weeks just to get the battery replaced?

The battery is, in fact, a deal killer. A huge deal killer. It's a professional and personal choice for me as well.

No matter how long your battery life is, the fact remains that (if need be) having extra batteries to swap out with much, much increase your usage time. On set and without a plug? Switch it out.

There are third party battery/rechargers which are in fact more efficient and cheaper than a bag full of batteries. But then it becomes an issue of recharge cycles.

The new built-in batteries are rated to last for 5 years, likely in more optimal conditions. It doesn't matter how long the battery life is, or even if I'd likely upgrade within 5 years. I don't appreciate being *FORCED* to retire a machine, particularly ones as expensive as Macbooks, because the battery can't be charged any more.

I like both OSX and Windows, but if this is the same my next laptop will not be a MBP but a Windows machine. I can always work with a desktop somehow.

About a year ago, now I believe that I just got an Iphone 3G, the only problem, I don't want to buy a new phone to have all the new hardware, but it looks like I will have to stick with this or else splurge anyways and pick up the new Iphone 3g(S). But luckily today I just got an app that lets me record video. Woohoo!! Can't wait for the OS 3.0 to come out, copy and paste, and supposed MMS, even though ATT is not prepared for that until sometime later this summer....T.T

I will be looking for a new mobile phone soon. Didn't want to get the iPhone because 16GB wasn't enough memory for me.
Now this comes out at roughly the same time as Nokia's latest N series phone, N97.
    Can't decide which to get.

Help Please!!! Each has pros and cons, but I'm having a tough time deciding.

Restoring the BCD of an x64 Vista does NOT work if you use the x64 DVD to do it. It can't find Vista installations and console commands (brdr.exe stuff nor the nt60 trick) the don't work either.

Snow Leopard and the new MBPs are interesting. Not too sure about the new iPhone yet, might take a month or two for all the new info to sink in (like the 3G last year, which was near insta-get).

Safari 4 is really fast, so I use it for my general browsing/internet stuff. I'm with you on FF, it sucked having to get used to the lack of developer tools and extensions.

I don't care about the iPhone, I am perfetly happy to have my phone and my PMP seperate, just like my TV and my DVD player. If something goes wrong, I don't lose everything, and I get to better choose what I want.

Also, who needs a phone camera, I have my D5000. Now if I just had more lenses than just the 18-55mm it came with. Too bad I can't just ask for lenses and get them for free ;P.

I need to replace my iPod ASAP and I don't want to have buyers remorse if they do something cool with the next generation. If they don't I can always get one of the current generation ones at a reduced price right after the upgrade. But there was no news!! When will the new iPods come?

The ONLY reason I would get an iPhone is for the DC apps. Otherwise, I stand by my 'meh...' stance from the first iPhones release. Hideously pricey for whats meant to be a phone... unless the price dropped drastically... I can't see myself ever owning one. I'd prefer to own the Nokia n97. Cos I love Nokia's. Mind you, that too, is also hideously pricey... But its a Nokia. Willing to pay more for a Nokia due to the fact I am familiar with them. More so than Apple stuff anyways.

Two of nice new feature of the 3.0 software AT&T is not yet supporting, MMS, and tethering. MMS is not going to be supported until at least September and tethering is a no go when they are going to allow it is anyone's guess.

They sure released the new iphone fast...
for most people... they still got another year before their phone contract expires...

I only bought mine about 1.5months ago.... damn I should have waited for the price drop then bought one... well good thing I'm not on a 2 year contract.

^^ Nice upgrades! Definitely upgrading the OS's to Snow Leopard for my MacBook an 3.0 for my iPod when they become available. I wish they'd have AT&T service where I live tho, I'd prefer an iPhone instead of an iPod Touch.

I'm buying Snow :D it's so cheap, and for that price, I'll pay for the original disk even knowing it's a 'refinement' of Leopard.

I would like to get the 3G S and I think the 15" Pro is the best option now, you have a good configuration and you get the SD slot.

Going to be getting a 16Gb 3GS. A good upgrade from the first gen I have. I decided that the original 3G wasn't really worth it. If I had the 3G now, not sure it would be worth to go to the 3GS.

Oh and Snow Leopard, $29, done!

I'll just be pickigg up the Snow Leopard upgrade and the OS upgrade for the Touch. I upgraded to a '09 Mac Mini earlier this year so I can't justify (or afford) any new hardware at the moment and the iPhone is just far to expensive over here.

Not bad. I alreqdy have an iphone 3G, so not worth it to upgrade yet for me until the current contract runs out. Still, a bit annoying that AT&T doesn't yet support MMS or tethering for the iphone. Apparently they will by the end of the summer, but you'd figure they'd be ready. Ah well. Nice price for Snow Leopard upgrade though! Think that will be a get for me and my macbook pro! Can't wait to see the DC apps :)

Regarding Snow Leopard: I'm still running Tiger (w/ Boot Camp Vista). I don't use OSX for much beyond basic work, video and sound editing, and browsing, so it's not much of a difference.

MacBook Pro: My funds means I have no money for one - not without saving one, and my previous-gen 15" MBP is still running fine despite the huge dent in it. Love the new looks and everything from this gen, but the non-removable battery is a deal-killer for me. Next upgrade will probably be a switch back to a fully-Windows machine.

    iPhone: Am indeed in the market for a new phone this summer, actually - was waiting on the new Palm, Apple and Blackberry offerings. The only one left to show its hand is Blackberry now, before I decide. The new features (faster, more battery life, more STORAGE) will guarantee a 3GS and not a 3G if I decide the iPhone route. Rather need the 16/32GB capacity for my music. ^^;

Haven't jumped on anything from Apple since my 5th gen iPod, and now it seems like I'll be lining up for the iPhone 3G S when it hits the shores in SIN! Just wish they weren't only sold by one telco... unlike AUS, where you can get it from OPTUS or Vodafone... =P

Also in the market for a desktop replacement for the family PC that's been hanging by a thread the last 2 years... Another Apple "get" then? Love the iMacs I see some of my friends using!

Any thoughts on the switch from PC to Apple, besides what one reads from all the forums?
