hmmm... stealing not good. taking others hard earned belongings is just so hateful. I really believe in karma and have never stolen. Always think how you would feel if things are stolen from you. I also have done stings in my old job in law enforcement. we would bait a backpack and watch the dumb criminals come right up and take it. Catching and handcuffing them was always satisfying!

Truthfully, I have stolen abit of things before. Usually it's because the things were being abused by the original owner. Being a poor kid back then with nothing much, I couldn't stnad to see things being mistreated.

I know the feeling. I recall when I had a used computer with a 16 MHz CPU and this kid in school just got one from his rich dad with a 100 MHz CPU (this was a while ago. 66 MHz was considered fast). He ensured that everybody should envy his computer while in reality he only really used it for stuff like plain text stuff (today we would call it wordpad). I felt like he was mistreating such a powerful computer for something that simple. I never considered theft though but I did talk to my parents about how unfair it was that stuff are handed out more or less at random rather than to the people who would actually make good use of it.

You just gave me a mental image of chun sitting with a homemade voodoo doll looking like a shoplifter and she puts needles into it.

That would beat any shop detective. They just needed to spot one guy doing the shop lifting (possibly on tabe afterwards) and then he would have a serious dolphin injury or whatever and noone would try that again ^^

Another possibility is that she wanted to get stolen. I'm aware of a female who can't stand the same guy for months and replace them quite fast. Such a person isn't worth keeping anyway.

        Before anybody asks or assumed anything, no I didn't date her. I never dated anybody who goes from one guy to the next. I got offers from girls like that though ^^;

Yes. I saw a guy in the news who went to a supermarked. He filled a shopping cart and he missed one small thing in the cart so he didn't pay for it. He realised it when putting the bags into his car and went back to pay the remaining $1 (honest guy). The shop then called the police and now his criminal record says "caught shoplifting". Needless to say he was quite upset.

The TV guys then inverviewed something in charge and he said that there might have been made a mistake and he would assign somebody to investigate. I never heard about it agian so I don't know how it ended.

I once bought something and the clerk made a mistake and I stated that he entered one of whatever and I took 5. He then didn't want to redo anything and said "you bought so much that I give you a discount". I could then leave the store knowing that I wouldn't get problems even though I paid $10 too little. I now realised that I could have ended up in serious problems if I didn't act on this since technically if he didn't say anything it would be shoplifting.

I accidentally stole a CD once a while back. I picked up the album "Pop Goes Punk" (awesome album by the way), to show a friend. I got distracted by a random hot girl leaving the store. I followed her, with he CD (with the enormous, triple length, white frame around the jewel case. I did not even realize it until i was just about to try and talk to her. I made it quite a ways with it out in the open walking through the mall. Funny part, the door beepedat me when I walked back in to pay for it, but not on the way out...

When I was around that age I went into a toy store alone (my mom was following me but she was so slow... image she wanted to walk instead of run). When my mom came max half a minute later she noticed that I was followed by one of the staff, but I didn't notice that. Looks like they assumed all kids without parents to be shoplifters since he left when my mom arrived.

How do you define "a rich jerk"? I'm asking because once a friend of mine stated that "I'm poor and can't buy expensive stuff like you rich guys". We then had a conversation about that and it turned out that he earned a lot more than me, but he also wasted a lot more on silly stuff. After going though his economy and change plans for that to spend money on he was able to buy "expensive stuff" too.

Another example of a reason for stealing and feeling poor is something that happens all the time in the schools today.
      kid A has an iPod
kid B has an expensive mobile phone
      kid C has a PS3
kid D says "the others have iPods, expensive phones and PS3. I don't have anything and I want it all". I have encuntered kids stating that and it's used as an argument on TV whenever they interview poor families with kids. Have you noticed that all poor people on TV always smoke all the time?

If you think like that then everybody who ever listened to pirated music would have to pay. That would be kind of bad because the radio station once broadcasted a pirated song here. They even claimed to do it on air, but it was because somebody on the internet had modified it and it was so funny. They never did it again though.

I don't think you can find anybody using a computer who did 100% of what the EULA demands. Have you ever completely read it? I have a pretty good example. Some windows compiler at one time stated something like "by installing you accept not to install any other compiler". This means if you bought two compilers and installed both you violated the EULA. Eventually they were forced to remove this demand since people ignored it and it was of quentionable legal status.

I think the topic here is stolen hardware, not software.

Get somebody with a candid camera to record when you return the broken concrete block while you cry and apologize and claim to think about your evil deed every day since it happened and it prevented you from sleeping. You should also ask for their forgiveness so you can go back to your lawful life again without feeling guilty.

I don't know about you but reading what you wrote I started imagine the police showing up and writing a report on this stolen concrete. It's Japan after all. An ice cone in a mailbox is such a serious offence that it appears on TV (though damaging letters is a serious offence everywhere, but not TV worthy).

I doubt there's anyone that has never stolen anything before. As kids especially, you have probably taken things which didn't belong to you. No need for us to act so innocent, just say the truth, heck I've stolen many things when I was a kid. Stopped stealing when I was finally caught...again...during my 6th grade bad experience for the last time. Anyone who said that they have never stolen anything before seems to be lying , take into account what "stealing" means and how far it has reached such as plagiarism before you say you have never stolen anything before. Torrents anyone? Read a lot of comments about piratebay here and ummmm...downloading anime also wait don't forget about music too. Internet theft is probably the biggest crime of all now days.

I have found my missing toy at a friend. He claimed he got it elsewhere and I couldn't proof that he got it from me. I'm quite sure as the accessories wasn't stolen and he was missing all the accessories. We kind of stopped seeing each other after that.

In fact a whole lot of my toys ended up being stolen by "friends". I caught 3 and I suspect at least one more stole from me. Only one guy admitted and he had stolen something I had planned to keep for the rest of my life because it was a gift from the guy who lived next door and at that time he had died and it was the only thing I got from him even though we spoke with each other quite frequently. I still keep it even though it was broken when it was returned.

The police considers it stealing so I guess everybody else should. Imagine the owner returning only to discover that he had to talk 10 km home and in the future he have to walk that distance every day because he can't afford a new bike right away. Insurance will usually not even cover half the price of a new bike because they claim the ond one to be used, even if it's only two weeks old.

My mom once got her bike stolen at a station and she had to walk 4 km. The next day she walked to another station (a different line) to go somewhere to buy a new one. She missed the train and while waiting for the next one she went though all the bikes and found her bike with a broken lock. When she returned she was quite happy that she missed the train.

I think the bike was abandoned, it wasn't in a good shape, it almost looked like it had been rotting there for ages, and I found it at the train station were you usually find alot of unlocked bikes. It's not like I took it from someone's backyard.
Also, I was 13 years old and needed a bike :P.

In that case it was likely already stolen and abandoned by the thief. It's still considered stealing even if you steal it from somebody who stole it.

So picking up a coin from the street is considered as stealing as well? That's the same thing as taking an abandoned bike. If the owner of the coin dropped it on purpose, you CAN pick it up without getting caught by the police.

Those videos look staged to me. The camera positions are too good. However it tells a story about how it works getting caught and I think it's close to how it works for real. Ok the costume appears to be a joke, but the rest seems real.

I once triggered one of those buzzers in a shop at a station. I bought something for a 4-5 hour train ride and the staff opened my bag so everybody could see my cloth and tootbrush and whatever I had since I had been away for days. Eventually they learned that their system had made a false positive but they refused giving me compensation for keeping me for 10 minutes and show everybody my dirty underwear, not to mention they might as well have put up a sign saing "this is a theif. Stare at this jerk and make him feel bad". Never used that shop again.

    knows stealing is no good

but when i was in high school, i used to steal just for the kick.
**Now you kids reading this, don't do this stupid thing anymore, ok**

used to steal magazine from a local book store.
how i did it was to pack 3 magazines together within a same magazine wrapped in plastic.
i paid 3 magazines for the price of one. did these quite frequently
also switched price tags. example paid $2 for a $8 pen.

and the weirdest stuff i stole was from some store that sold plants. just climbed over the fencing and stole the plant at night.
also stole the fire extinguisher from the same mall that night, sprayed the nearby field white.

don't know what made me do it, i guess just for the kick.
well now reflecting back, i feel bad for the plant store owner and the book store. i am sorry. so to everyone reading this, please don't do this - that's the very least i could do now.

I too have stolen like you and I was once a delinquent who fought a lot and stole. I now enjoy lots of animes :D and I am a better person who doesn't steal anymore.

When I was in jr. high school like you I stole video games and CD Players(worth $100+ each)

I don't suggest anyone to do this please it is a horrible thing and I don't know what I was thinking in the past but here's how I did it.

The CD Players were in plastic cases that had devices that tripped the alarm(some of them are fake and act as a deterrent and there's a slight way to may be able to tell a real one from fake but I'm not going reveal that). I went into the store with a utility knife and cut the plastic, took out the players, and put them in my front waist of my baggy jeans and big sweater and tightened the belt so it wouldn't fall and walked out of the store.

I regret stealing to this day, it's something I will always remember and worry about. So please for not only the people's sake whom you've stolen from but your own sake as well don't steal.

not really a do good angel here and not a demon also. i did steal when i was a kid. stopped when i felt remorse killing me months on end. never mind whether it was a small item, but my parents words of never to take anything not belonging to me made a lasting impression on me.

Regarding shoplifting, I have never done that, but I was present a few times when one friend of mine shoplifted. I mean I pretty well knew that he is stealing, because I always saw it. And of course we were always talking when he put it (he always took some choco bars) in his pocket. Would that count as complicity?

I think it would in the eyes of whoever might have caught him. You would clearly be members of the same gang and your job was to distract.

The legal status of what you are doing isn't always what you think you are doing but what you are doing in the eyes of the legal system. A similar issue is with demonstrations where somebody starts to throw rocks at the police. The police then declares the demonstration over and tell everybody to leave. The rock throwers continue and in such a case it's a criminal offence to stay in the demonstration and people go on TV afterwards complaining about being arrested even though they didn't do anything. It looks like they don't understand that just standing there protects the rock throwers against the police and by doing that they obstruct the work of the police, which is a criminal offence on it's own.

So as you can see sometimes just being present is illegal if the time is wrong.

And here we see the result of beating children. You were crying and you will never forget it. At the same time you learned not to steal.

Kids remembers pain and they will learn to avoid it. If a kid learns "if I steal or beat up another kid, then I will feel pain" then they will stop doing that thing. The major problem is if they are beaten for reasons they don't understand. I recall once that a woman I had never seen before slapped my chin and I had no idea why. I wasn't doing anything and she never spoke to me. I told my mom when I got home and she said that if she had seen it when it happened she would have reported it to the police for assault. I don't remember all the times I was hit in school but I do remember her and I think the reason is that I had no idea whatsoever why she did it. For all I know she was upset that she couldn't get kids and had grown to hate kids due to that (I have seen that happening in other cases).

The topic of hitting kids is sometimes a hot topic in the media. One thing that everybody in the debate is unaware of isthe fact that hitting the head have been banned for centuries. The king realised a problem and made a law stating that it's illegal to hit a kid in a way so it can leave permanent damage, even in a case where it would otherwise be legal to hit the kid. This includes, but not limited to, hitting anywhere in the head.

We all know that if modern laws had been applied to Bluesnow, then we know one person who wouldn't have stopped a life in crime and would have ended up in jail ^^

      Are you serious?

Reminds me of when I went to high school. National radio had a program for school kids during school hours (not school related) and they told everybody to show up at the locatoin where they were broadcasting. They didn this once a week and the result was that kids cut school to be there. Some people (including me) got quite upset that a radio station owned by the government did that. There is a big difference between not preventing kids cutting school and tell them to do it. The latter is absolutely not acceptable.

Eventually they had to stop broadcasting those guys.

Have walked out on the bill in several places but that's just because of my bad memory and I've always returned and paid afterwards. I really do resent stealing. If I work hard for something and then someone comes into my home to steal from me... Id be firing ma lazors at that point.

It's not stealing. You bought something and paid too little so you cheated. This type of cheating is mentioned in the law as illegal, but legally it's different from stealing. I think it's treated as a more severe crime.

The stupid thing here is that you would likely have been able to buy it at that price if you spoke with the manager. Usually you can get a discount for buying a lot at the same time. Sometimes you have to ask for such a discount and sometimes they put up a sign, but usually it's within reach.
