I am so sick and tired of this constant "failure" comments, especially since I could name franchise-based movies far worse than this one. (-_-;; Seeing how people rate movies based on how they are compared to the original, it should mean that the first and third Spider-Man movies were epic failures.

As for the figures, that is no excuse to continue bashing the movie. Wanna who loses out on this? The people who produced it and allowed corners to be cut. Which means that they will either take the sequel up a notch or Fox may replace them if there is to be a sequel.

Besides, with the figures... I bet you anything that those in charge of getting Bandai to make these did not think about the older fans who might actually like the movie. They thought more about the kids who might have liked the movie, and generally skipped out on what they could have done. Then again, Bandai did make the worst looking Haruhi Suzumiya figures ever... And that should be considered with then.

    That, and if you think this is bad, ToyBiz decided to change their name to "Marvel Toys" since they currently own Marvel Comics. And do they make Marvel Comics-based toys? Not anymore, thankfully. They however do make... ugh... TNA wrestling figures. I can understand doing a comic-based toy line for other companies, but not this. (-_-;;

Don't worry am not just bashing the accuracy. You do have a good point.

The plot failed too, and seriously it was really just another American action movie with the name DragonBall on it. But that's my say

You have your rights to think that the movie is good, or whatever, but the movie is called Dragonball Evolution, so it should have some similarity with Dragonball right? Well it doesn't! Just like Minaru Chou mentioned, it is nothing else than an American action movie. The characters makes no sense at all. Goku is from a race dominated by the Nameks WTF!??!?!?

This movie IS an epic failure, just like they did with Street Fighter, funny thing is that they both figure ONE good actor in those movies(DBE=Chow Yun-Fat, SF=Raul Julia).

I don't think the "failure" comment is just an opinion anymore, it's reality. When a movie that just opened finished at #8 in the Box Office and at #11 in the next week then I can safely say that it is a failure. Sequel seems very doubtful since they barely break even for the movie budget.

Your argument about the Spider-Man movies might not work since they made a huge amount of money and garnered new fans while making current fans happy even if it is different. They've kept most of the characters and origin storylines intact whereas DBE did not. I know I had minor complaints about the Spider-Man movies, particularly the third one, but they were better executed. In the end it's just because the 2 licenses are very different. Spider-Man is a man in costume fighting realistic villains and Dragonball just had too many fantastical elements that simply could not be translated into live action.

I picked up the real Piccolo and showed it to the DB Evolution figure: "THIS IS HOW PICCOLO LOOKS LIKE!!!!"

I said the same for the Goku XD

Practically A LOT of things are made in China. Check the labels on the things you buy and most of them will say "made in china." So what you are saying is unjust to those hard working Chinese. Think its best to take Danny's advice.

I'd have to agree that Chinese workers work hard and the majority of things you buy and use are made there now.

Might be a bit off topic but my only only problem with Chinese goods are the fake, cheap imitations, etc. I was just watching the Korean News tonight while eating dinner and they were going over fake table salt from China packaged to look like a Korean brand. It's salt, do name brand really matter? Can't they package and sell it under their own brand?

For anyone who went and paid for that movie: Dammit why do you guys have to mess everything up. You guys could have paid for another movie and then watched DB Evolution as your second movie, you could have streamed it online, or you could even have downloaded it, so why did you pay money for this? You're making Hollywood think anime adaptations at this level are a good thing. So much so they decided there was a market for movie figures.

I think they already planned the toys far in advance before the movie came out. Right now the movie is out of the top 10 box office and gained only $1.5 million. I don't think it broke even yet. So don't worry about making Hollywood thinking this is good enough for an anime adaptation because it performed badly so they ought to know by now.

Hmm, well, it still has the "action" of "action figure" down, even if it looks like an old "Power Rangers" toy.

    Bandai of America sucks.

the movie got 13% on rotten tomatoes, now to achieve numbers like that the movie must have sucked beyond words...

still, kinda miffed that they cast the caucasian guy as goku...he's asian! they could have at least stuck with it...

I'm not one to be negative but I'm glad the movie was an epic fail. I know movies are not 100% like the original but I still expect it to be something that fans could appreciate.

To start with, I've been a fan of the original DBZ anime. I even have their merchandise, figs, posters, videos. I look at this and (pinches bridge of nose with pained expression)............ I feel at a loss.
