Those illustrations look soo cute, will have to pick these up when they come out. So a storyline.. This is something that I came up with in the last 2 minutes of thinking.
Ok so, Suenaga sisters in modern day Japan. They stumble upon a lone dancer in the streets of Tokyo, wearing a stormtrooper outfit. People pay no heed to this man, but the sisters go up and ask what hes doing. Stormtrooper explains how he wishes everyone is able to see the glory in the otaku culture, sisters are amazed by this person's dream. From there i'm guessing they do random things to spread the culture around.
Looking to probably be a comedy, no love intrest for the sisters.

Awesome, truly awesome. I can't wait to read the manga.

So what kind of story are you hoping to make? What genre/s do you want it to be? I can't think of any story idea's off the top of my head from scratch like this. However if I can think of something I'll be sure to mention it.
If you need ideas for additional characters then why not make some based on select members of the DC community. If anything it would at least be an interesting way for people here to get involved.

Also, Ayu's art is as amazing as ever, the meme is both cute and funny. ^^

Long summary is long, but bear with me.

Mirai is an alien from a future dimension. She and her sister are orphans who were adopted by and work for a secret intergalactic police organization headed by a mysterious man (in white armor with black censored box on eyes, called "D.C.") and thus has special powers including costume changes, traveling though computers (how she comes to Earth in the first place), guns for weapondry, and her own personalized mecha-armor. They fight mindless alien monsters who destroyed their original home planet and target "high culture" races, an immune system of the universe against overdeveloped life. Anyway her younger sister disappears one day and Mirai tracks her down to modern day Japan.

She tries to assimilate herself into Japan to not attract attention (going to school, working part-time at maid cafe, etc.) and each initial chapter will highlight some new aspect of Japanese culture she tries to understand from an outsider's perspective. (People assume she's a gaijin, which she kinda of is. ^^) Because Japan is "high culture", it soon is under constant attack by mindless alien monsters that traveled from a rip in the space-time continuum (that Haruka first opened, and Mirai followed) and she ends up doing "magical girl save the world" work on the side. Japan becomes obsessed with their new heroine and ends up churning out unauthorized merchandise like figures, manga, etc., much to Mirai's chagrin who gets no royalties and suffers in a terrible shitty apartment, and discrimination for being a foreigner. But she finds herself fascinated with the country and not wanting to go back.

She finally finds Haruka, who had ran away from home for Japan because she's a total otaku (from watching anime on computer, which connects the two worlds) and doesn't want to go home. Haruka was also the one who created the "Miracle Mirai" franchise and is living the good life as an internet idol/blogger/otaku, and is getting ready to premiere the "Miracle Mirai" anime. However, this "Miracle Mirai" is actually fueling Japan's "high culture" status and attracting even more alien monsters, but Haruka refuses to stop and believes there's a way for culture and the universe to coexist, while Mirai wants her to stop and to come home. So Mirai and Haruka end up fighting against each other for a while.

Tons of space aliens swarm Earth the day before the anime premiere. Mirai and Haruka battle over the Tokyo Tower which is broadcasting it. Final battle ends up with D.C. turning the moon (yes, the moon) into a huge TV projector screen that shows the first episode of the "Miracle Mirai" anime, and all the mindless space aliens fall in love and become otaku themselves, and move to Japan (taking jobs as Godzilla, sentai shows, anime characters, etc.) Mirai realizes she loves Japan as well despite everything, and decides to stay with Haruka on Earth now that the universe is safe again.

Ends with D.C. teleporting to another dimension and starting an otaku website with Mirai and Haruka as the mascots . . . lol

Pretty cliche, but it's short with no need for extraneous characters or milquetoast love interests, and it could be adapted into an OVA if there's an anime. Plus, it highlights the mascots while providing a medium for highlighting Japanese culture, which is the main purpose of the site.

You should a manga about comedy and slice of life, because lately those type of manga have been made into anime. Since the Suenaga sisters are Danny's mascot, then the manga should be based on the sisters everyday life with Danny in Japan.

Hopeful if you are noticed by KyoAni then they would definitely turn it into an anime series, and increase the sisters moe factor many times. If you look at their past projects - Lucky star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the current K-On!
What do all theses Series have in common?

Taking an approach of a learning experience and sharing of what has been learned is what i'm leaning towards. Could easily fit comedy and slice of life. The introduction part of Sarith's idea could be incorperated, the future alien who's escaping a wartorn world, this could make up just for some background story and have something to contrast the modern day Japan with. Though being chased by aliens further may not be neccessary.
Having the sisters with Danny and his everyday life would probably be appropriate aswell.
Heh, sorry for butting into this here post. Just posting a more revised version of what I kind of wanted to say. With your base of a Comedy and slice of life, mixed with some ideas i've read.

Same. Right off the bat I felt a Slice-of-Life theme fits best since DC is basically centered around otaku life, along with moment's from Danny's life.

In terms of storyline, it's a slice-of-life so there really would be no central plot. Yet, the main focus would be about the life of otaku and all things included. You could also throw in moments from Danny's motivational articles and play it out with Mirai and Haruka. You wouldn't exactly play it out explicitly but in a way that gets the point across while keeping it serious yet fun.

You can have Mirai as not only the official mascot of DC.com but a reporter for the site, essentially taking Danny's place in real life. Danny would be the top boss, rather the person who sends her to all these places to take pictures and gather information for articles which are published on DC. I think of Danny as Charlie from Charlie's Angels. Mirai receives assignments from him via text, email, telephone, or visit his office but you don't see his face only his arm or body while he's sitting in a chair. As far as incorporating the Storm Trooper, you can have him as maybe Bosley whose assigned to help Mirai when necessary.

Stories would be centered around Mirai going to places all over Japan (or Asia) to report on stuff. You can have her go to such events like Comiket and Wonderfest, the Good Smile Company to see new figures, Tokyo CGM Night and networking events, going to Singapore for a blogging conference where Danny is the speaker, appearing on G4TV and CNN, attending Idol sessions to take pictures (maybe have a few scenes where Idol agents are pursuing her but she declines ever so moe-like and tries to escape them through various means...plus you can also make manga depictions of idols as guest stars who forge friendships with Mirai like they do with you Danny), in addition to going to places all over Japan and showing the culture and beauty of all these places.

Basically, all the material you need you can extract from your articles...and there's an endless amount of settings that Mirai can appear in.

Of course, if you find this at all interesting (>^^)> I'd be willing to help make up story lines and such.

I had one story in mind about Mirai attending Comiket. You can show her going through all the troubles of waiting in line and going to all the circles to pick up stuff to write articles on. Then at the end of the day she arrives back at DC headquarters with all this otaku stuff completely exhausted. Then have the Storm Trooper see her and give her the press pass that he was unable to give her because she left so early to get in line and once she was in the crowd it was impossible to locate her. Then she cries in comical fashion since the waiting in line to get in could have been avoided, among other things.

Maybe I can write up a quick scenario since I was just throwing out ideas. It's kind of a mess (>oo)>

Hmmmm, I like this idea! Our heroine could travel all over the world covering stories for her 'boss' Danny (who I see as wearing a killer business suit and his trademark stormtrooper helmet) and getting into all kinds of dangerous adventures along the way...

    Thats really amazing danny,
somehow reminds me of the art of the ds title it's a wonderfull world

i do kind of dislike the thinness/longness of her neck in the last pick though. It's true that a longer neck makes a charecter look more mature, but this might be a bit too much. Almost reminds me of E.T. when staring too long at the picture. A shorter neck generally gives a charecter a more cute/young look. The key is balance ^^"

I would suggest lowering her head a bit in photoshop. To experiment what a difference the neck makes.

But whatever you do, this manga is going to be awesome!
    congratulations with this huge step!

Well the necks on the first images are a bit long aswell, but nothing wierd there just a matter of taste. Especially with the first images you have seem to createn a rather unique and gorgeous style, that really works for you. The second pic was just a tad too much for me. ^_^

Just as danny I too feel a great force in your drawings. Talented you are young sky-walker-ayu-san.

    slice of life manga type

vote for new character to the family
mirai father, probably modelled from dannychoo himself
mirai mother, modelled from danny's wife?
mirai younger brother, haruka older brother, my references:
a closet otaku who know karate a bit (extracuricular), a layback character type that can be really scary and whimful

    reference scene:
mirai is stalked by some dude, but his brother is not kicking stalker ass, instead, he made him met mirai eye to eye
    script:
otouto: onee-chan~~~ this guy wants to talk to you, interested?
    mirai: who is he?
otouto: my older friend from the net, he said he want to met you
*turn out this stalker run away anyway
otouto : whisper* ah, he ran away
otaku wisdom? or just rotten brain?

mirai friend addition, any good reference & name?
who's requesting tsundere friend to addition? :D

harem manga? tenrou, help me here :D
    action path? antagonist reference needed!!!!!

anyway, i'm going to ayu deviant ID, see if there's good reference of what manga she fits making
    and maybe write a script?

    Story #1
In Suenaga's planet, the Suenagas sisters need to do a special assignment in order to graduate
and become part of the interplanetary alliance which main motive is to watch over underdeveloped planets,
but they (the sisters) themselves need to look for a problem in the galaxy.
what haruka finds is that in a remote planet earth a storm tropper is gathering an army through the internet and
is spreading panic through the streets of tokyo with some weirds moves. When they both go to the root of the problem
they meet a curious person named Danny but he doesn't seem like a bad person but nonetheless the sisters decide to stay
and live with him to keep a watch over him, since the have no other choice because machine they used to get to earth was destroyed
and there is no way to repair it with earth's technology. The only choice for the Suenaga sisters is to learn about the otaku culture and make
a living until they can find a way home?

This is my first developed idea that i had after a couple of minutes of Brainstorming. I still need to think about characters and settings but i already
have an overall idea of where i'm going with them.

hhmm, lil' Mirai and Haruka, what kinda of story would that lead to? Mirai's first step into the world of Otaku?

If I remember correctly, she is from another world (like Doctor Who, I guess). What would a being from another world do on Earth? Learn about the Otaku's? Find... lil' Danny and lives with him! :P

Wow what an amazing idea! :)

Guess I'll shoot my story idea out there:

The story begins at a Japanese High School, where Mirai and her sister have recently transferred to upon her family moving to a new area recently. However, she and her sister Haruka, aren't as happy with their new school, as they are still unfamiliar with everyone, and had so many friends at old school.
On the way home, the sisters take a detour, (why they did can be decided later) and end up walking pass a brand new recently built High School. They see the school is painted in orange and white, and a large "d" appears on the front gates.

Suddenly, a bell rings, and the gates open to unleash a mass of students going home for the day. Mirai and Haruka notice something unique about them, orange and white uniforms, and junior high students wearing blue and white, all with that orange "d" symbol. A girl soon notices them and proceeds to greet them.

They soon find out that this eccentric High School is for otaku students, and that not only is it a school for otaku, their mission is to spread all things otaku with everyone!
Mirai and Haruka being anime fans themselves are welcomed into the school to meet the principle, a kind hearted man with black hair with an amazing office where he runs his website in which he shares the fruition of the school, his own master blogging skills, and the contributions of his students.
Mirai and Haruka, shocked, begins to find out that the man is their father! (why they moved to new city, but didn't originally enroll the sisters because wasn't aware of the fact they liked anime, and they never would expect because they didn't know about their father's otaku love.)

Soon they enroll in the HighSchool/Junior High School campus, and Mirai and Haruka begin to make friends in which soon, they meet Aoi, a tsundere-type who practices Kendo, and hangs out with Mirai and Haruka at times in town. (secretly may related to Suenaga sisters in a way)

Then on, the story may be based on Mirai and Haruka's interactions with friends, the otaku community, and united all with otaku love and info gracing Japan, and, the world! Deep within Akiba, Mirai becomes an Idol to all, and is nicknamed, "Miracle Mirai", for never before has Japan, and the world, had such a reliable website, and community to depend on for the best in anime, figure, and otakuish coverage.

Possibilities exist for many characters from around school and all over to come into play, but main will be:

Miracle Mirai: Hero of Akiba and all Otaku

    MAIN TRIO
Mirai Suenaga: Student at "d" academy/sister of Haruka Suenaga/Daughter of Principle
Haruka Suenaga: Sister to Mirai/follows Mirai after school/has friends (other characters)
Aoi: (somewhat like Mio from K-ON! but a little more tsun) friends with Suenaga sisters/kendo student

"d" academy students: (many characters can be designed for this)
    Principle: (highly resembles Danny)

I think the story has alot of potential to develop from this. It could have chapters in a lucky star-ish format where they're not continued, but there's something interesting, something funny, and of course something in the way of Moe every chapter. Or it could also follow a continued story. Or both.

Mirai may even work at a cosplay cafe as well, and ideas can develop from that. Maybe some scenes of Mirai at an anime con, maybe even a time where Mirai dances in the city in cosplay!
All to share the love of anime/otaku world and promote the incredible "d" academy website where students from the school post member news, and the rest is comprised of tons of great data and blogs (mentioned previously) for all the world to learn about and love.

So there's my basic idea. I really love story writing, I had a lot of fun coming up with all of this.

I think Kaphillca's idea of comedy & slice of life is great since it kind of fits DC.

Try doing it like the Minami-ke, K-ON style or dorama? Its not necessary to have a great plot, making it about those random daily things in life in Japan is not bad at all. You can even have the readers to come up with the idea for some chapters too ^^

    Anyway, is Ayu and Danny making this manga into a book or open source file or...? ^^;

Yea agree too, school and life stuff is fine and all, but need at least 2-4 main characters and the open possibility for more...without good characters to fit the plot, the plot is worthless, and not only that, the characters must be designed well.

I say "+1" for Hikaru Kazushimi's scenario as well. This is something that I'll like to (and most likely will) use and work with.

Here are a few suggestions though:

    1) Don't let the sisters know that the principle is the Suenaga sisters' father until waaay later so that fans can have that priceless "I KNEW that guy was their father!!!" reaction.

    2) We should still keep and incorporate storyline elements from the Mirai gets her own anime post (i.e. Mirai is from the future;Haruka is missing; enrolls into high school; MUST HAVE THE FUYUKI CHARACTER!)

    3) Well, this is more of an edit for the Mirai gets her own anime post than yours HK and is directed ^*~@DANNY^*~:
Make this as the initial scene for Mirai's arrival to the past (need to keep that Fuyuki scene!).

    4) Upon her arrival, Mirai continues to use her Meisai Gear to do recon of Japan and the Japanese culture, which she is fascinated by) and for her search of Haruka, and has already picked up some Japanese customs, such as bowing when apologizing to people.

    5) The running gag for Mirai when she's in her Meisai Gear (in other words, she's invisible) is that she occasionally bumps into people and lifts/moves objects which ultimately freaks the heck out of people because they think it's a ghost! Please note that Mirai is JUST invisible BUT people CAN STILL hear her speak! ^^;
    Example 1:
    -Mirai enters shop;
    -Mirai picks up figma on display;
    -Newly hired Cashier sees floating figma, is a bit freaked out, and walks over to investigate;
    -Mirai backs up, bumps into a customer behind her, and accidentally drops and damages the figma;
-Cashier walks up behind Mirai and says outloud, "Umm, excuse me?"
-Mirai is startled, quickly turns around, bows and apologizes. But as she rises back up, she accidentally bumps the back of her head on Cashier's chin knocking the Cashier down to the floor on his butt. OW!
-Mirai rubs the back of her head, puts the damaged figma back on the display, runs out of the shop saying, "Soorrryyy!"
-Cashiers is totally freaked out and pushes/slides himself backward into the shop's backroom shouting "GHOOOOOOST!"

    Example 2:
-Mirai gets onto a train. It's partially empty.
-It soon fills up beyond its holding capacity and Mirai is wedged between a pretty office lady and an overworked, stressed out salaryman.
-Mirai tries to wiggle herself out from between the two, constantly brushing against the pretty office lady's cute little behind.
-The pretty office lady turns around, shouts "PERVERT!" and raises her hand with an open palm.
-The salaryman turns around and looks at the pretty office lady with a stressed out yet puzzled look on his face.
-Mirai quickly ducks as the office lady slaps the salaryman HARD!
-The train stops at a stop, Mirai runs out, looks back and sees the pretty office lady stomping on the already K.O.'ed salaryman while the station guards are trying to pull her away.

I hope these are possibly usable scenarios. I have much more in mind but I'm gonna grab a bite and recharge.

I also think it would work best if the themes were to be slice of life, Otaku, and Comedy. As for the story, it doesn't have to focus much on the plot such as mirai's past until the end of the manga so you can fill up the rest with Japan/Otaku life. A good example would be something like Yotsuba! where the father could be Danny and Yotsuba would be the Suenaga sisters.

    The best i can come up with since I'm still half asleep.. ^^;
Awesome work Ayu, can't wait to read when it's done!

    Looking for Work

I have a bit of a history working with stories! I love coming up with stories and I kind of dream in technicolor when it comes to my imagination, it's like one big anime up in my head..

I came up with a concept for this Suenaga story.

You could split the manga into a flow of seasons. The first one could start in Summer, with the Suenaga sisters breaking up from school and it's summer vacation! They complain about how they'll have nothing to do for their summer project assigned by their school when they stumble across a strange man wandering about their town. Music hits their ears and they quickly pursue the man only to discover he's doing the robot dance move on a street corner for cash... Dressed as a Stormtrooper!

The girls quickly recognize his immense dancing skills but lack of cash collected collected in a toy Millennium Falcon substituted as a cash box. Then an idea strikes Mirai! Their summer project would be to become the managers of this dancing Stormtrooper and to share his moves with all of Japan; to make him famous!

And that's the general plot I have worked out so far. I have other funny little stories working in my head at the moment as to the trouble they could get up to trying to break this Stormtrooper into an underground Otaku dance scene. He could take part in a tournament called "Cosplay Casanova's!" (literally just made that name up)

That's about all I have in my head right now ^_^

Well, i'll give it a shot. .. . Depending of the manga will be scheduled to be a long or a short mini series...I feel the more simple stories really work!

The genre: A slice of life, from high school

The story takes place in the summer break, where a group of students actually stay in the city. The Suenaga Sisters had never explored city because of their strict parents. But, because of the economic time, both parents are forced to work at the same time. Leaving the Suenaga's alone until their parents arrive from work. A crazy neighbor kid about the same age as the sister ( Danny Choo looking type chap!) is someone with freedom. He has a love crush on both sisters, but has trouble choosing which one he is willing to confess to. The Danny looking chap convinces the sisters to go to fun situations or places that Japan has to offer. The deal for each adventure is; they have to make it back before their parents get back from work (But that's optional). More characters are introduced throughout the story and is a set up for the upcoming school year which will be a longer manga or could be combine with this one. (I have a few characters up my sleeve but just letting you know the story premises).

I'm going to take my crack at this, as this is an opportunity for me that I've been waiting for for quite some time.

    Storyline:
Frankly, I think there are a number of ways to go about this.

Many people here have already taken the "slice of life" route, but I think it's also possible to make this more action-based as well, and that of the nonviolent kind.

    Tentative Draw-Up
    - Mirai Suenaga: Main Character, Uses her wits and surroundings as her weapon. Very strong-willed and unable to do wrong.
    - Haruka Suenaga: Little Sister, Plot Element, reason for TimeStepping. Questionable as to her personality, but is constantly referred to.

The storyline you depicted can be Mirai's daydream, that is intertwined with her own normal life. That allows the action/slice of life areas that Mirai herself exudes to flow together.

Regarding her normal life, you can take any of the "slice of life" ideas here, but I also have a preference on that.

    Tentative Draw-Up
    - Mirai Suenaga: High School Onee. Relationship with Fuyuki = ?
    - Haruka Suenaga: Middle School Imouto. Jury's out as to whether she has a boyfriend or not (most likely not, but it'd be interesting [and different] if she did).

From there, you can take on any sort of Slice-Of-Life School stuff, including just the ordinary ones combined with the daydreaming for a really fun and wacky episode each time.

    Personality:

Haruka and Mirai's personality will go a long way in pushing the wants and needs of the production. If they're handled wrong, for sure the storyline as well as their reputation will suffer. If it's handled right, the personalities will be the whipped cream on top of a cake: noticeable and sweet. (<_<)

For my tentative outline, I have in mind of Haruka as sort of like a mischievous little sister that always behaves around her older sister. She will pull pranks on men "trying to take away her sister" but only enough to try and scare him away. Mirai can't find a fault with Haruka, though, and Haruka proves effective at being bi-polar.

For Mirai, she is a conditional optimist, in which most everything she deals with is a positive thing to her, unless you manage to tick her off. This is a kind of tsundere that we admittedly haven't seen in a while, and unlike the former variants I think that adding Mirai's charm to it can help make it palatable to those that dislike this variation.

    Opening (anime only):
G major base, make use of dominant and mediant more than tonic, and hold off from using any discordic sounds. Standard "faster" opening in comparison to the ending.

    Ending (anime only):
A major base, keep it close to the tonic, and start high-end. Bass clef should see a lot less love here, but light and "fluffy" are the key words here. Montages are alright but I think them in "concept sketch" mode should be interesting.

That's what I came up with in the last 10 minutes, I bet there could be more coming if I could find some time to work on it [people are dragging me around like a used doll XD].

    Cool! A manga!!

Maybe this first one can be a slice of life type.
Then if any ideas come up it can be used for a second manga or something.

Or start it slice of life then put in ideas as the chapters go.
    Maybe different arcs, different genre.

Mirai Suenaga and her sister Haruka are twin princesses of the royal court on their home planet of Sorunia. Sorunia is a peaceful, technologically advanced planet, with a wise king who is loved by almost everyone. The same royal line has ruled the kingdom/planet for ages, and starting with Mirai and Haruka's grandfather a project began to use the extensive research capabilities of Sorunia to catalog and observe nearby galaxies and their inhabitants and cultures. Sorunia vows internally to never interfere with the life of or make harmful contact with the planets it monitors. Mirai and Haruka have a typical school life, though at the royal academy. All of the royals' children go there and Mirai has quite a following, including one boy, Cestral, that has been interested in her since they were both in the 1st grade. Mirai has relatively low interest in boys, but in spite of that she's nice and makes friends with a lot of them. Cestral, however, resents Mirai because she's turned him down so many times, and refuses to even talk to her.

One day in the palace Mirai comes upon her father arguing with a man she recognizes from various functions she's been to but can't put her finger on who he is. "You'll be sorry for not heeding my 'advice', my lord." promised the man on that day, hatred burning in his eyes.

Mirai follows in the royal footsteps and loves studying other planets' cultures and has great interest in the project her grandfather started, which was inherited by her father's royal research staff when he passed on. However Mirai has only skimmed the surface of most of these cultures due to her duties as princess and other activities, as well as spending time with Haruka.

A few days after the original incident with the mysterious man, the palace guard comes to Mirai at the royal academy grounds during classes and tells her that she has to come with them. She demands to know what is going on, and demands to see Haruka, but is refused both. Mirai grows suspicious, and upon entering palace grounds catches a glimpse of the face of her father's guard captain bound and slain in one of the staircases there. She takes it upon herself to slip away at the first opportunity and search for Haruka. As the fake guards notice she is missing, they recapture her close by and bring her to throne room and the mysterious man that had been arguing with her father a few days earlier. The man asks her if she remembers him and Mirai refuses to answer.

"Very well," the man says. "You may not remember me, you were very young when you last saw me. But I remember you well, little princess."

The man reveals himself to be the investor that helped Mirai's grandfather start the project to research other planets, and a former royal.

"Your grandfather and I did not share a similar vision for this planet and it's sovereign right in the universe, and he had me exiled -- only after taking all of my money and MY ideas!" The man calms down and with a smile curling to his mouth says, "But that didn't stop me from exacting my revenge on the court -- beginning with the assassination of your grandfather, and now the murder of your father." The man begins cackling maniacally with an insane warble as he moves and Mirai sees her father's body slumped on the ground. She is in a total state of shock and slumps to her knees herself.

"And now, there is the matter of what to do with you my little princess. Lucky for you, my son for some reason, has taken a shine to you. Your fate matters not to me, so you have my son to thank for your choice in this matter, which is: become my son's wife and retain your position in the court or share your father's fate." A young man with a strong body but a weak presence steps out from behind the throne and Mirai is taken aback once again. She recognizes him as Cestral, the boy from her youth that pursued her relentlessly.

"I'll never go along with your plans!" exclaims Mirai as the man draws ever closer to her with a sword.

"Well then, I guess we'll have to remedy this little problem," the man says as a mysterious figure shatters the skylight above the thrones, diving down and disabling the fake guards in one blow. The shadowy figure moves like a blur around the room, taking out Cestral at the knees, rendering him unconscious. He's then stopped sword-to-sword by the man holding Mirai captive. Wearing all white, he stands out against the backdrop of the mainly crimson throne room. Even though he had Mirai an inch away from his sword, the figure in white was so fast that he had to react with his sword to avoid getting cut in half. The figure in white disarms the man that was holding Mirai hostage but a second ago and tells Mirai to run. The battle continues between the white-clad figure and Mirai's captor.

Mirai escapes the palace and still can't help but wonder what became of Haruka, who she had been thinking about the whole time. "Why is this happening?" she thinks to herself. Mirai decides she's going to look for Haruka, decides that her sister's safety is more important than her own. After a moment of searching the man in white shows up and says, "What are you doing here? You need to escape, that man will most certainly have reinforcements arriving soon, and they'll be looking for you." Mirai explains that she needs to find her sister, that she is also a princess and they'll undoubtedly be looking for her, too. The man in white tells her that he sympathizes, but she needs to leave the planet as soon as possible, that no matter where she goes on Sorunia it isn't going to be safe. He tells her to call him Shirotoko and that he will explain in due time about the situation and that they will meet again. Mirai says that if they "WILL meet again" then she's ordering him to find her sister and she will find her own way to safety. She states that this is the only way things are going to work if Shirotoko wants her to comply.

Mirai makes her way to the Extra-Planetary Research Lab and quickly looks over data from different planets in nearby galaxies. She hears banging on the door, it blows open, and with a thud it lands on the floor. It's Shirotoko and he has Haruka! As Haruka nears Mirai, soldiers come into the lab and Shirotoko turns to defend the girls. Clearly he has been injured, he has a giant slash across his back. Mirai, having been to the lab many times before, knows the layout and guides both of them to one of the research vessels that Sorunia uses for information gathering about other planets and galaxies. As they reach the ship, soldiers flood the room and the girls rush to close the bay door so they can ultimately board the craft. They make it in time, but before they can leave they must set a destination, the computer keeps flashing "ENTER TIME/SPACE DESTINATION" across its screen. Mirai, paying more attention to the still open hatch picks a destination without looking, and at this point in time the soldiers manage to get the bay door open and grab Haruka in the process. Mirai, realizing that she cannot possibly get Haruka back, somehow manages to board the ship.

As Mirai leaves the atmosphere of Sorunia, she wonders if she'll ever see her sister or home again. She also wonders who the mysterious Shirotoko was, if he escaped or was even alive. Who was the man that had seemingly caused this whole disaster? All of this is too much for Mirai and she collapses onto the control panel, crying. We pan up to see the ship's computer displaying: "DESTINATION: CHIKYUU (EARTH)" and then we fade to black.

The camera "wakes up" on a sunny day in Yokohama. The waves lapping against the rocks, eventually hearing a metallic repetitive thumping noise. It's the ship, apparently it has crash-landed on Earth.

    ...And there's your opening/setup.

I wanted to make it so Mirai eventually makes it to Tokyo and everything on the ship works (including camoflauge) except the ability to travel into space. I also wanted to make it so the ship could shrink to suitcase-size or something, and has plenty of gadgets aboard (A language converter to speak Japanese for one ^^;). Mirai would keep sending out distress signals, breaking the cardinal rule of not interfering with the planets they visit should someone answer her. And then she would accept things and start a relatively normal life. She's still kinda lost, and she meets an otaku at school by the name of Keigo. Keigo falls in love with Mirai, she's really oblivious about it, but she really cares about Keigo in a platonic way. Keigo introduces her to otakudom and she's really dazzled by the, “Rich culture even beyond what we have at home!” I felt that throwing otaku bits and conventions into an overall creative story like Keroro Gunsou, was better than just making it a full-blown otaku story where she becomes an idol or something crazy. I wanted to have moments where he shows her a maid-kissaten for example, and she gets all inquisitive and moe and cute, probing around the scene like an outsider or foreigner would do, making the “alien” comparison in more ways than one. And then there are introspective, sad moments where she realizes that her home was like this, comfortable and filled with culture and art.

After a while and some chapters focusing on building a relationship between Keigo and Mirai and Mirai keeping a low profile, I'd have her distress call answered by the last person she wants to answer it: Cestral's father. (Although I'd have Cestral show up on Earth) Cestral is the jealous, bratty, yet threatening archetype. He tries to hunt down Mirai to show his father he's competent, more than the fact that he wants Mirai. Cestral will assume an identity at Mirai and Keigo's school and Mirai tries to hide the fact that she knows Cestral from Keigo. Cestral eventually catches up with Mirai outside of school with Keigo, Keigo throws himself in front of Mirai to try and protect her and just as Cestral is about to unleash on Keigo, Haruka shows up with tech from Sorunia (Meisai Gear?) and defeats Cestral.

Now the cat is out of the bag, once Keigo sees this display he finds out that Mirai is an alien girl and being an otaku, goes crazy. Haruka ends up playing the instigator, kinda like how Konata points out awkward situations in LS, is how I'd describe it. I also wanted Haruka to debut as the sort of “brainy” little sister, where she takes things on the ship that Mirai knew nothing about and uses them like a pro. She could carry around the ship's computer (like an electronic book) that has all of the knowledge that the previous users had collected about Earth and point out information before Keigo can, whenever Mirai wonders about something in Japanese/otaku culture. I also wanted to make her slightly naïve and antagonistic as a result. For instance, if they come across a store that has Dollfies, Mirai would wonder what they were and the then Haruka takes out the cultural encyclopedia and reads from it: “These life-sized dolls are part of an otaku subculture in Japan whereby they are collected and then dressed up in different outfits and displayed. Often times dolls based on specific anime series and outfits based around their characters are released, making them popular amongst males. Sometimes called “daughters”.” and then she gives a wondering look and blurts out something like, “Hm, I wonder why males would collect dolls? Don't their girlfriends have a problem with them dressing plastic women up in clothes and undressing them?” and then gives a sneaky look to Keigo. I don't know if I'd make them always at odds, but they seem to play off of each other's type well.

After spending so much time with Keigo, too, Mirai will begin to really fall in love with Japanese/otaku culture, and gain a following of her very own due to her beauty and interests.

I also thought of maybe having Keigo slip when he's around his otaku circle of friends/acquaintances about Mirai and then her having a whole fan club to deal with based on various otaku: occult, sci-fi, manga, mecha, etc. I'd fill in blanks about Mirai's homeworld and past via her telling stories to Keigo. I also wanted to have a mascot that a previous user of Mirai's ship took on board from another planet they were researching that she finds after she crash lands and takes a liking to her. Maybe some small alien animal?

There would be a regular mixing of school life with the main and secondary characters, and different “alien force” versus technology that Mirai and Haruka have gimmicks. Once the main story is going and everything seems great with Keigo and Mirai and maybe even a little romance is starting to brew, I'd have Shirotoko come back in a dire situation of some sort. He and Mirai bond over him telling her about everything that went on before she had to leave Sorunia, what's going on now, etc. The backstory is that her grandfather developed the plan for interstellar research just for knowledge, and perhaps to protect other planets in the future, especially those that are undeveloped. The man – whose name is revealed to be Bairon -- who captured Mirai and killed her father (and grandfather apparently), was indeed the man who funded the initial project. It was him who suggested it and came up with the idea, submitting it to the king under the guise of a recon project. What he intended was to use Sorunia's superior technology to gather the information about other planets and galaxies and take over them if they had intelligent life, or drain the resources from the undeveloped planets. An impatient man, when he assumed the position of head of the Royal Research Team – Development Division he let his true intentions be known. He even had planned a failed coup/incursion into the court. When the king found out, he had him exiled, as he was royalty at the time. He spent 15 years plotting revenge on the king and finally got it when Mirai was around 5 years old, at a masquerade ball hosted by her grandfather, the then-king. (That's why she remembers him vaguely) No one knew who actually killed the old king, and Bairon got away free and clear in all of the confusion. Mirai's father ascended the throne, and once all had calmed down, Bairon returned a mere 3 years later to finish the job that he had started. This time the coup had gone off without a hitch. Apparently many on Sorunia had shared Bairon's lust for power, and all of it was just boiling under the surface until the coup.

I was thinking about the Shirotoko character (and yes I'm aware that he's supposed to be the “Trooper” =P) and what his history and background should be, because I really didn't want to steal the limelight away from Mirai and Haruka too, too much. I sort of envisioned him as part of an experimental project that Bairon's company had funded in secret to make genetically superior Sorunians, so when the time came his coup would be met with little resistance. He is a prototype, and most if not all others had been destroyed or hadn't yet achieved sentience. When Bairon was exiled, the king ordered all experiments stopped, and Bairon's assets liquidated and given over to the treasury. At that point Shirotoko as well as 12 other “projects” were locked away in the royal archives and Shiro has little idea of what went on... Until one day about which he remembers mass chaos, a fire and escaping in a haze. He doesn't seem to recall who else, if anyone, had escaped. I wanted to add this to not only leave a door open for Bairon to send more than just Cestral or generic characters to take on Mirai and Haruka and Shiro, but to up the ante and have some superpowered beings to defeat, too. That and Shiro is a plot device of sorts to bring “power-up” equipment for Mirai to use.

On the whole, I wanted to bring it full circle and have Mirai return peace – and otaku culture -- to her homeworld. Perhaps a few of the prototypes that she and Shiro fight with join them shonen-manga style (i.e. - this week's badguy is next week's ally)? Maybe Mirai starts a resistance among the planets Bairon is taking over and rallies everyone to fight back? And finally, a TimeStep is erected between Earth and Sorunia so Keigo and Mirai can visit each other anytime they want. (I didn't keep the Mujitai idea)

As far as the names are concerned, I tried to keep the “extraterrestrial” names un-Japanesey, don't ask me where they came from. I basically threw this together in maybe 2 hours with bits and pieces from Danny's 2007 article and suggestions from this article, if you find parts that aren't cohesive, gomen. ^^; Also, I've given potential names to the parts:ミラクルみらい:未来少女登場!、未来のみらい:毎日毎日の珍しい冒険!、未来のみらい:日常の平和をカエス!

I have three words for you: THIS IS GOLD!

However, I do have one question:
Is Keigo the same character as Danny's Fuyuki character?

Also, I really hope that if your storyline scenario is used, it'll be edited because as it stands right now, your post is a MAJOR SPOILER and needs SPOILER TAGS! ^^; Yes, I think your scenario is THAT good!

It's also good that you're allowing leeway for the school-life section of the storyline as a whole so that other users, such as Hikaru Kazushimi and mine, can "fill in the blanks", so to speak. ^^; Good job!

Thank you for the positive feedback and compliments! (And I mean that, I pulled multiple muscles in my back yesterday and was in excruciating pain as I was writing this last night, so it means a lot that this was well-received ^^;) And honestly, I wrote the whole school life and Keigo part BEFORE I read about Fuyuki and such. I was reading both this article and the 2007 article in bits and pieces and managed to completely skip over that whole paragraph. I came back to it toward the end of writing and gave it a thorough read to see if there was anything I missed or that I wanted to purposefully omit (like the mujitai) and saw the Fuyuki part and was like "Wow, were we on the same wavelength or what?" of course I didn't have the "many bishoujo characters" in mine. =P

And yeah I was thinking of the spoiler thing while drawing out the whole storyline in a broad way. I kept thinking "If I'm posting this now, this would be spoilers straight through to the end!"

To be honest, I actually don't know too much about Mirai's manga background besides she being an extraterrestrial. So I'm not sure if your focus is on action, comedy, or slice of life.

For me, I always enjoyed the light hearted situation comedies the most. So since Mirai is not from Earth, I'd have a storyline about how her exploring Japan changes her body chemistry. Like when she eat something she temporarily gains super attribute, or when she comes in contact with certain stuff her body has allergic type reaction where she'll sprouts animal attributes. So her attempt to form relationships become more interesting. Such a story arc can have her turn eventually into a super heroin if she has purpose or just stay fun and light heart.

...Wow. I actually have no time to even read over COMMENTS right now. ^^; Will make sure to do that later to do the community justice.

Just one suggestion, though. Why not have Mirai and Haruka actually be digital entities? Sort of like how Miku is sometimes portrayed, living inside cyberspace. They're site mascots anyways - and this will make meeting other people around the 'Net so much more logical.

You can add some variable/reasoning that allows them to actually manifest physically if you want.

Slice of life seems like the typical setting that goes well with siblings. What age range would a third sister be in? Developing a cast of side characters would also be necessary, yes? I'd recommend looking at www.tsunamichannel.com 's comic Experimental Comic Kotone since the author did a good job mixing jokes and story. The story part of his comics really branched out of a setting he established through the jokes and asides, also as his art style and storytelling developed over time.

If you go into a story really strong, readers will begin to expect story; if you go into gags and otaku jokes, readers will expect funnies. I remember one reason I stopped reading Megatokyo was because Fred shifted the comic to be all about the story, which departed from the gamer 4 komas and other asides he had done earlier. When he went full steam into developing the story, he had so many characters and storylines that at his pace of work, and the number of panels he devoted to conveying emotions it became incredibly tedious to bother reading.

What kind of characters will you make Mirai and Haruka out to be? Will you be starting them out with traits or let them develop with the manga? You might let DC members decide on some idiosyncrasies for the sisters through polls or somesuch?

Background: 2015 is the year history states (big global issue) occurred. During that time, many of the world’s governments and economies collapsed. It was a dark time in which all seemed hopeless. Until Miracle Mirai. No one truly knew (knows) what Miracle Mirai is as much of it’s origins were lost during that dark age. However, whatever it was, it was ultimately responsible for pulling a nearly extinct culture to the forefront of the world’s poliical and economical stage.

    Otakudom

Once thought of as a mere subculture, the inovative and creative thinking of the otaku became a new way of life. Using their hopes for the future, the otaku turned their fiction into reality, helping to rebuild society. By the year 2020, the word otaku became associated with not only the subgenre turned mainstream culture it once was, but also for almost an entire world’s way of life. Lead by the Suenaga family, this golden age of the otaku, life was peaceful and prosperous. However, like all good things, there was opposition.

A seperatist movement began as people began to realize that otaku culture was becoming the new way of life. At first they were merely a vocal opponent to the movement. They were wholey dedicated to returning society to what they refered to as the traditional way of life. They abhored the culture and tried to turn many people to their cause by slandering the otaku. However, their cries fell on deaf ears. The salvation that was otaku had come to pass and became engrained in society.

Desperate, some of the seperstists turned to extreme measures, trying to wage a guerilla war against an entire culture. However, such actions were almost doomed to fail until 2044 when the seperatists came under the new leadership of Yoshida Takumi and his loyal second in command, Mirai Suenaga. Takumi had a plan to alter the course of history and make sure the otaku way of life never comes to pass.

[continues from above as I apparently cannot 'reply' thanks to work's machines.]

The basic premise is that Mirai initially is a part of this seperatist movement (For reasons revealed as the series progresses) as the right hand of its leader Yoshida Takumi, a fanatic willing to sacrifice anything for the cause. Their group raids the Suenaga Industries compound to obtain the latest invention, a Temporal portal generator. They hope to travel back in time to stop the Miracle Mirai from happening and return the world to the cultural state it once was.

During the raid, they discover Dr Suenaga sending his younger daughter Haruka through the portal. Realizing she must be the key to the whole thing, Takumi and Mirai follow. However, her father, dying from a gunshot wound from Takumi, alters the controls and sends them into the past, but randomizes it, spliting the two of them up.

Mirai awakens in 2010 outside Tokyo, without Takumi. She also discovers that she somehow has reverted to form of a 17 year old girl, perhaps a side effect of what her father did. She realizes it’s now up to her to find her sister and stop Miracle Mirai from happening. However, she also realizes that Takumi’s fanatacism has almost spiralled into madness and might end up altering the timeline beyond what changes they wish to make. So she must find him and stop him from causing any permenant harm to the timeline.

However, as she begins to explore her surroundings, a wave of pain overtakes her and she collapses. She is eventually found by an elderly priest and his grandson, Saiga, who take her back to his temple to cae for her. When she awakens, she realizes her situation and decides to use it as best as possible. She convinces them to let her stay there, convincing them her parents are both dead and she ran away from her foster parents.

The old man allows her to stay and she ends up integrating herself into their life. Saiga, the other male lead, takes her to school where she discovers that himself and his friends are all otaku. Realizing this may be the best way to find her sister, she begins to learn about otaku culture as well as what “life was like back then”.

The series itself would be a mix of light hearted comedy and action with Mirai having to defend Saiga and his friends from numerous attacks by unknown forces (Led by Takumi) to preserve the timeline all the while learning about otaku and Japanese culture. Numerous anime references could be used as well as plenty of DC references (I’m picturing the dancing Stormtrooper becoming the frequent backdrop character much like the black cat in Trigun)

As the series would progress, we would discover such things as why Mirai was part of the Seperatists, what her relationship with Takumi is, and more about Miracle Mirai and what it truly is.

I always thought that Azami sensei would be the artist of choice for the manga & anime adaption of Mirai & co., so I never thought you'd be talent searching for a manga artist, Danny.

Nevertheless, Ayu's work is very cute and moe and I think quite suited for a light hearted comedy drama (with a bit of action) manga I think. Would love to see more of her work most definitely. ^___^

    !Oh fudge, I accidentally pressed the Back key and deleted the story that I've been writing for an hour... argh! That's three times that it blanked out now! Looks like I'll have to keep this short now... sowwy ;_;

Simple logline: Mirai, a pleasant girl who lost contact with her younger sister six years ago, is greeted with an invitation to a rich, prestigious private school by a pink-haired boy called Akihiro...

Mirai and her younger sister, Haruka, lived together until a disaster struck and split the family apart. Mirai (11) and Haruka (7) are sent to different orphanages, and could not get in contact with each other.

Mr. Choo is an entrepreneur who owns 'mirae.fm'. He loves children, and gives his old toys away to children at the hospital. Mr. Choo and his wife, Mrs. Choo wants a child, but are unable to, even after many tries. As their final choice, they decide to adopt a child.

The couple chooses a girl by the name of Mirai because they wanted that girl's face to be happier. The couples expectantly awaits.

Mirai arrives, and joins the family of the Choos. Her personality is pleasant, and smiles often; the family is happy. However, she is still distant enough that she does not allow others to touch her heart. She tends to be silent when eating, and does not laugh heartily. She also seems to be carrying a sketchpad around with her. Worried, Mrs. Choo talks to Mr. Choo, and has a talk with Mirai.

Mirai, although reluctant at first, starts her tale of her (original) family's life, and the disappearance of her younger sister. Mirai wants to see her again, and warm tears flow from her eyes. Touched, the Choo couple promises that they'll help her find her younger sister again, and if possible - adopt her.

Thankful, Mirai goes near the couple for the first time ever and cries both the tears of sadness and thankfulness.

Six years pass by, with no luck in searching Mirai's sister, Haruka. Mirai (17) is a beauty now, and is the "idol" of the town. Her personality has greatly warmed, although she still keeps her sketchpad around with her. Her skills with art is remarkable, and has received much awards.

The Choo family, however, has had a significant financial drop due to the world economic bubble burst. Mr. Choo, however, is working hard to save money for Mirai to go to college. Mirai is also working towards her goal by part-timing in cafes/coffee houses.

One day, a black limousine comes by the Choo residence while Mirai is outside. Out came a pink-haired boy, with a suitcase. Mr. and Mrs. Choo is greeted by this boy and six other black-suited men... "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Choo. My name is..."

By the time Mirai comes back home, Mr. and Mrs. Choo was preparing a feast for her. Surprised, Mirai asked what this was about. The couple said that she had been accepted to the Toushima Academy, a prestigious K-Uni level private school where the rich and the smart went to, with all fees paid for by scholarships. However, she is told that the school is away from this town, where her teenage years with friends were...

With a tearful good-bye to friends and family alike, Mirai left to the academy by train. She drew some scenery as she was in the train car. When she arrived, Mirai was greeted by a pink-haired boy called Akihiro who was waiting for her to arrive. The pink hair reminded her of something... but she could not remember what.

Mirai, now with only a pink-haired boy as a friend, must make new friends in the new school.

    SCENE PREVIEW.

Akihiro asks why she draws, and why she keeps them (the art). Mirai replies by saying, "My sister... She and I were separated. She loved my pictures, even though it was terrible. Now, I'm looking for her still after all these years... but I know that I'll meet her one day. And when I meet her at last, I want to give her my... passion."

/* TO BE... CONTINUED? DEPENDS. */

Well, that was exciting. Thirty-five minutes of writing, not including the deletion that occured to the browser going haywire. I hope that people enjoyed this little preview story...!

My Idea: Mirai is a transfer student from a distant country and she doesnt know anything about japanese culture she only knows japanese because her fathers teach her japanese.
Well thats the main idea. But i think you could mix the teaching Japanese culture+high school girls life+comedy something extra like.. expample: K-ON!: music MoHS: S.O.S dan etc..
Well hope you like my idea :)
