      Thanks for the pics too.
Especially the night pics... it looks like a giant model kit.
Actually because it looks like a model kit, it made me remember some of those professionally painted kits with battle damage and shaded edges which this one doesn't have :(... but this is the real thing!

Argh ! It'll be taken down before I get to Tokyo this October.
Any motivation to remove it after 2 motnhs ? I mean seems like alot of trouble to do just for having it there for two months, it could fit well with Odaiba being a place to go to for entertainment after all :-(

it must be the first model to be built on 1:1 scale on the planet and they want to pull it down in less than a month? dont they want to make it a tourist attraction and rake in some extra yen for the effort the engineers put into this awesome piece of work? i cant believe this. someone should buy it and keep it on public view for ever. or maybe some scientist can start to make these a reality.....

Can't believe they gotta take it down so quickly... it would become a very famous tourist attraction...

But I'm guessing the reason why they're pulling it down is because it may become hazardous in due time... and with Japan being an earthquake prone country, it increases the risk of it collapsing...
Wish I could go see it >_< won't be happening for another few years.
Looking forward to the daytime coverage when it opens.

Interesting note about earthquakes and falling over - I can see that being a reason. It certainly has no problems standing on its own, but is it also painted and designed to last against the elements? I'm not so sure.

I hope it stays up somewhere. Seems like a waste to spend all that money and time on it for it to be up for only 2 months.

At this time I have seen MS Gundam, 08th MS Team, 0080, 0083, Char's Counterattack, MS IGLOO, G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Endless Waltz, Gundam X, Turn-A Gundam, Gundam SEED, Gundam SEED Destiny, Gundam SEED Stargazer, Gundam 00 S1 & S2 and some of the Evolve and SD Gundam stuff.

Right now watching the Original Gundam Movie Trilogy with my girlfriend ^^I She wanted to try out Gundam after 4-years of knowing that I'm a total Gundam Fanatic.

I've watched the original Gundam and I love it to hell :) Go Char!! XD and seeing this actually built would turn me into a kid in a candy shop. Though I would love to see the Red Comet's Zaku as well, but for now this is great. Wouldn't it be col if suddenly the cockpit would open and out came a soldier in space suit and ask "what year is this" O.o

If those were "crappy" shots and that it was "too dark" to take better photos, than I think I need to get my eyes checked cause they looked fine to me... What time were these taken?

Saw most of the original, mainly through the movies which were subbed pretty well at the time.
Tried to watch the series dubbed, but I didn't like the voice acting for Amuro.

Dammit, all i can say when I look at that Mobile Suit...

I wouldn't call that dark.. it's still so bright or maybe the exposure was left for longer. Those grey clouds man, doesn't look too healthy either.
But that RX-78, the journey to erect that monster is almost complete. The little notes all over the gundam are fun to read and I wonder if the movement would scare a few people too, or could this be an advancement in robotics technology?

This is an amazing sight. It certainly deserves to be preserved. And more should be built. They should create a Gundam park with several models. Over here they put moose statues all over the city. In Tokyo, life size Gundam. Just another reason why Japan is way cooler.

Put the petition online, you'll get deluged :) I personally will command my friends to sign it~ That awesome work deserves to stay up as a monument to its builders and to Gundam fans!

Have seen the original Kido Senshi Gundam and even had the first few volumes of the manga. Also Zeta, Double Zeta, G Gundam, Wing Gunda, and some of SEED.

You know, I met my significant other in a conversation where a group of boys were talking up their favorite Wing Gundam MSs. I was the only girl there. [for the record, we agreed on Wing and Deathscythe.] He also gave me 1/144 models of Wing and Heavyarms to build :)

The goal for your petition is probably going to fail. While this is a nice display of pop culture stepping thru the veil into reality, in the end this is an publicity stunt, an advertisement.
While fans may love this, the people who for which Gundam is just another bit of minutia from their childhood may not want to live next to this 24/7/365.

I tried to get into the original first Gundam series, but I just couldn't get into it, perhaps because of the animation and the story, I'm not sure.

But Zeta Gundam, I enjoyed very much. I got through to the mid-30 episodes but stopped since I got busy and got interested in other anime. I may have to catch up on it at some point.

That Gundam is incredible! I can't believe they set it up so quickly only to tear it down just as fast! I would have thought it would be a HUGE (literally) tourist draw and a great landmark! This is heartbreaking since I really would have loved to see it in person. *Pout* Personally, I haven't seen the original Gundam series or really any of the ones aside from Gundam Wing (which I still love after all these years), but I intend to watch the other Gundam series as soon as I find time to.

shooting at night is difficult. It is easy to make it blur or underexposed without tripod or high ISO. I plan to go there someday at night to take photos of it.
Danny, did you do post-processing after taking your photos ?

And this is the photos I took at day time.

My gut feeling is that by the time they take it down, there will be some pretty attractive offers from shopping malls or museums and it will end up being a permanent exhibit somewhere (indoors). I'm pretty sure they can't keep it up indefinitely in Odaiba because it wouldn't withstand exposure to the elements for very long.
Also, I'm willing to bet that in a few months Osaka will also build a 1:1 {insert name of other similarly sized mecha other than Gundam}...

Go back if you have time late at night and take some night shots. Maybe some video. Mount a tripod on top of you car and get some skyline if there is any. Weeoohh!! Sweet. You are the man.
