    I've always wondered if you ever get wrist pains from ur office setup danny. It only took me a few months working in a typical office layout to start developing wrist pains. Now I'm looking for a new desk with an adjustable keyboard tray..

      Danny's oppai mousepad should help against that. ^^

      If your seat height is correct then you shouldn't suffer too much wrist pains, a flat keyboard like the Mac keyboards could help or if you have a PC then a keyboard with a palmrest and a wrist supporting pad will do wonders.

      My current keyboard is the Logitech Wave which has a nice big wristpad, for my mouse I use a simple Fellowes gel wristpad.

            I think the dust depends on the environment and your activity. Its the same amount of dust regardless of what furniture material you use, its just you see them easier on some.

    Nice new layout!
    The place where I used to work would even shift their desks on a monthly basis. xD
    Going in on a new day, finding out that your desk is in a different place, has a great effect on the work atmosphere.
    Also, sometimes you get to sit across or next to someone whom you don't talk to often. It's a great opportunity to break the ice and get to socialize with new co-workers!

    Danny, who will be this lucky person and what will s/he be working with you for? If you don't mind me asking, that is. ^^;

    Probably meant Adobe Lightroom (well, Adobe marketing insists on calling it Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, but no one else does).

    I think both are quite similar, both UI and feature wise. I find Lightroom more easy to approach, but that is of course, because it is the one I most often use (probably no the other way around).

    Quality notwithstanding, I also think anything Adobe's is safer to use, as in long-term usability of the data –being Adobe cross-platform and exclusively committed to imaging business.

    Surprising how much bigger the room looks after moving things around. Don't know if your table tops are glass, but if they are you might wanna consider fixing a beam between the horses for more support as you're always gettin more stuff dude. Just a precaution.

    Love the glass tables, my office table is also from Ikea, but it's a wood tablet, iron frame model. It can support a lot of weight which is good as a few screens, reserator and case amount to quite some weight.

    I hate wire clutter myself, wouldn't be able to leave them unstrapped or not bundled up, would drive me mad. Lucky my office table frame has a large full width beam where I attach all wires and adapters with wire straps, so it has some semblance of order. ^^;;

    Hector is going to need a fully automated Tissue Dispenser sitting there in front of Mayu and Reika from Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun show. All those extension cords here would be called a fire hazard! I usually try to limit 3 plug ins per total wall socket, if it has 2 as usual then no matter the power-strip only 3 items are on. I think I learned that from watching Green Acres long ago.

    Congrats on expanding to the new level for more workers.

    Nice and sleek new setup. The old one was more interesting, but practicality is always important. Kind of "odd" to see that you have so many more figures than Hector. You might as well put some on his desk just to make it much more pretty. :D
    As for moving furniture in my room, I don't do it often. Everything has been the way it was since I moved into this room, and it will all probably stay here until I leave. It's just that I don't have that much furniture to begin with and it would not be the greatest use of my time given my tightly packed schedule; juggling school, work, and anime/Asian dramas (recently more manga), or course. ;D

    I really wonder whats that mushroom thing doing under the table .. O_O

    I have a cactus beside me, but I wonder if it does photosynthesis.. Its green but no leaves.. Wouldn't want a plant to suck all my oxygen in the air.

    Hmm I think it'd be quite some time before I need to get shelves for display.. Theres simply too little figures.. ^^;

    Is 20:59PM under the 3rd pic a typo? People don't usually type PM when using 24hour format right?

      Yes, cacti do perform photosynthesis. Well, actually they perform a slightly modified version of photosystem I as I recall, to avoid dehydration, but the principle of turning sunlight into glucose is still the same.

      So, that means it's giving you oxygen, not taking it. :)

    Having objects against the wall rather than extending into the room is always the most room-efficient - perceptually, if nothing else.

    "From where I sit however, all I see are their pantsu ^^;" I experience the same with some of the figures on the top shelf of my Detolf - but hey, not complaining. xP

    I recognized the Dell Hackintosh at a glance - read too much about it. ^^; Was considering getting my own, but I realized that I much prefer having just one computer...and I had little use for a netbook that might have trouble handling HD video (for anime). Rather save my $500 for a good set of headphones or an iPhone.

    If I could have gotten one for 1 USD there would be no hesitation whatsoever. You simply must tell us how that happened soon.

    Something I've always wondered, and I guess this post strikes me to ask is do you ever feel embarassed when non-Otaku view your work space? I guess I feel like as I decorate my own space, with the PG Strike, and a Lacus, and a Charmander, that those who do not understand the appreciation of such things would just think us juvenile. Has it ever come up for you, Danny, where you felt like someone judged you because of your collection?

        Thats as good an answer as any I guess. It goes back to school years, you have a Ninja Turtles Lunch box and you're going to get called a geek or something similar. I find myself hesitant to put too much out on display as I do have clients by, and I wonder what message it sends about me to have toys out and about.

    Nice - i like a change of scenery in my regular working environment, but now i work at home, i cant rearrange things due to the layout of my room. A large window, a sloped ceiling on the one side and a small door to the spare room limits my options.

        i just heard that its best to put your screen against a low contrast, low brightness background so that your eyes are more relaxed and you dont squint. Also, you can focus your eyes on the distance to give them a rest.
        I suppose it depends on what time of day you get the sun coming through that particular window...

    I usually rearrange my room once a year, it's a tiresome job indeed!
    And I've been wondering for a while if you water your plants yourself in the office, because they look quite healthy. For me no matter what I do they always seem to die out really fast (maybe it's because of lack of love^^).

    I must agree, the "after" room looks much nicer! Big an' roomy, with enough space in the middle that you could spin around on your office chair without the risk of knocking figures over ^^; Wheee!

    Say, a "before and after" contest would be a great idea! 'Cause I bet it'd provide great incentive for some of us messier otakus (like myself) to get their rooms into any semblance of organization, haha. Who could say no to cleaning their room where there are figures at stake?

    Ah, don't you just love it when reorganizing unearths extra outlets? ^_^ Funny though how reorganizing always seems to make things worse before they get better.

    Yeah, that layout works loads better. Reminds me of when my roommate and I put our beds against the walls back when we lived in the dorms. Unfortunately, pretty much only the beds could be moved, and in order to make them fit we had to take the head and footboards off, and had to remove the closet doors. XD It was worth it, though. I so don't miss living two people to such a tiny space.

    Hah, if you're going to do a before-and-after room giveaway, mine's going to be awfully drastic--I'm moving out in a month. ^^;

    Looks like Danny is a fan of Ikea like me :3
    About half of my room is Ikea stuff. I was at Ikea a couple days ago to pick up more shelves for my manga, and I got two of those Detolf glass display cases everyone showed in the recent "my otaku room" contest. Cheap and pretty.
    And please do a before and after contest! I could totally do it since I got these new shelves and I have to rearrange everything...wait, how long have I been a member? D:

      Oh, and I saw some frosted glass tables at Ikea too I wanted. Danny, the way you have the lights under the table is really cool and I wanted to mimic that >>; but I didn't have enough money for it.

    Do you think the glass can support 4-5 monitors+arms (4-5kg each) clamped onto it?

    I've been considering purchasing a GALANT desk system but with a glass top, (1600mmx600mm) though i don't think ikea cuts their glass to that size ><"

    Your office definitely looks far more roomy now - Makes me want to move to a bigger room

      I do believe glass can support it (depending on how thick it is), though I would have some support under two or three of the monitors, just in case.

          If I'm correct in my guess.. Danny uses the Ikea, VIKA tables.. If the Galant uses the same glass.. which support up to 50 kg... your 25kg worth of monitors won't be a problem It'll only be at half! ^^

            I still think it will be a problem. The arm mount systems that i use have a very small base. Here's my desk:
            http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/11706/Ergonomics+-++Recently+aquired+arms.html

            It's an issue of 'force-on-point' - the VIKA table should be rated at the 50kg over the whole surface. The arms i use, put weight/pressure on an area 2/3rds the size of a coffee mug.

            It's like, rather than someone put a board on top of you and stood on it, they instead took a pole and stood on one end and you under the other end.
            Really bad example i know, but i think you should get my drift

    Wireless electricity? Danny, at this moment if they did have wireless electricity the problem would be that the electricity would flow around in a field, and may be hazardous. However those last three words are just a conjecture of mine.

    I always liked the IKEA merchandise. Pretty clean and simple. On those desk I looked at ordering those but here in the USA but they are not available to buy online. Here in Colorado, the nearest IKEA is in Draper UT (by SLC) which is an 8 hour drive. There is talk of opening an IKEA on the South end of Denver but it will be a while due to gov't bureaucracy - permits first then construction.

    I have been to IKEA stores in Sacramento, CA and Orlando, FL when I traveled on vacation.

    On doing Mac OS X on a Dell, I am interested in seeing how that was done sometime. Kind of interesting, where I work at (large database company - remain unnamed), I just ordered and received a Dell laptop for work at home. My manager pretty well knows that I am pro-Apple. Also my students in my university classes also know that I am pro-Mac even though I teach a MS-Office class and I mentioned to them that you can get Mac Office 2008 which is the same as MS Office 2007.

Don't think I have many options for moving around furniture, though I'd love to get a new ikea single slab desk (can anybody weigh in on the larger size Fredrik computer workstation with the upper shelf? Danny where did you hide all the paper. Or were you smart and banish the printer to the third floor. Those glass tables look like a good idea when I get rid of the big metal desk and the stuff underneath.

    Lucky person. The 5th member is going to feel as lucky as my cousin Tracy did when she found out that she'd be one of the people who is involved with The Beatles: Rock band. :3

    But yeah... Next to writing again, working for a business like yours is on my list of ultimate goals. X3

    I like, I like those arrangement. One of my weird hobby is look at how people arrange their office and desk in creative ways. Hmm...dreaming to have such a great office like Danny, but probably greater eh? So, Danny's office is the best =P I just like to daydream all the while. Always dreaming my own room to be as cool as possible. Well, the Macs are really irresistible and I'm getting more and more interested towards them.

    Is the power system in Tokyo 50mhz or 60mhz (60 would mean that US electronics would work without an adapter). I just remember that they are divided by a river (50 on one side, 60 on the other), but I can't remember which side Tokyo is in. Very cool digs regardless, I hope I can find a place to live in Japan that is 1/5th the size in total =p.
