Wow, learned about Ginza today! The car review was nice! Manga store looked insane...o.o wish we had ones like that...closest I think would be Barnes & Noble. >.>
Sushi was yum looking. ^^ Don't have a problem with days or weeks in tokyo, as all are amazing and fun to read. ^^

^^/ Yay more photos of Tokyo. Anyways a car review here or there wouldn't be half bad. I wish book stores here in my neck of the woods had that kind of manga selection T^T All of those breads looked really good especially the ones in the second photo. Uh so wait the new Haruhi anime is going to start airing April 2nd?

Would like to see some more car reviews, really wasn't that interest in them until i saw the GTR! As for driving i know both manual and auto, and i think i prefer manual because i think is cool and like to switch sticks ^^
Metrosexual Narcissist
http://www.michaelflux.com
Just a shame that more often then not, a good automatic will destroy even the best of manuals in terms of speed reliability etc - as is the case in this GT-R.
I mean I like manual too, but I wouldn't trust it in a race.
Student (Network Administration)
you definitely want to use a manual in a race (no respectable driver uses automatics on a race), as it is more controllable to driver on how he/she wants to drive the vehicle, compared to the automatic tranny where the gearbox decides. it is also faster, depending on the driver, a manual tranny can save a few milliseconds switching gears than a automatic. this may seem an insignificant on normal driving, but on a race that could be decided in 1/1000s of a second, any shave in time you could get counts.
IT Crowd
Occasional car reviews would be great as Japan have a lot of interesting local cars we never see overseas. And the awesome GTR of course.
Re your question on manual or auto, I like auto too. I also learnt manual, but my current car is an auto Legacy with Tiptronic so has the best of both worlds. Also, ever since I learnt left foot braking, I think I'm much safer and quicker to respond now than if I was driving a manual.
I think I would go to Ginza for the food and a look at the cars, but the expensive clothes can stay there thank you.

Great pictures, I definitely would love to see more car reviews here! The GT-R looks amazing, the interior is so welcoming that it makes me want to live inside the car.^^ Compared to the Fairlady, I find the GT-R to be much better looking on the outside, the Fairlady reminds me of the Porsche 911 for some reason (which I don't really like^^), so given the choice I would go for the GT-R (but my dream car is still the Nissan Skyline GT-R^^).
As for shifting, I prefer manual cars over automatics, I find manual shifting adds more enjoyment to driving experience, although I admit it requires more attention from the driver.
And the cakes from the bakery looks delicious, some of them reminds me of the cakes Sanae used to make in Clannad.^^

I'm not sure if I'd want to read about cars that much. I think it'd depend on how you did it; if future posts about cars are going to be like this one and more, "This car is pretty", I'd like that more than, say, "This car has a x liter engine and so many horsepower and blah technical details blah."

Browse teh internet, it's full of "mildly-erotic goods"... and even more... =_="
College Student/Web Designer
Yeah, but possession of such goods are illegal (in some countries) if the person depicted is under 18.
For example:
UK is passing a law that will ban a very large amount of Erotic Graphic Novels, including any that depict what could be seen as a teenager in sexual situations.
In the US, a man with a large collection of Doujin has been arrested for Child Pornography.
And from last time I checked, Human-Rights groups in Japan are trying to ban schoolgirl erotica and all Doujins with girls that look under 18.
I don't say I agree with it, I just don't want Danny to get into trouble ^^I

Kagami isn't sushi that was Seto-san! Err I guess Seto-san got ate already. About the cars transmissions. For Hotrods, Muscle cars, and work trucks it has to be a standard 4 speed. For people now with busted up backs hips and shoulders we gotta have automatics like it or not.
I was commenting on a show the other day I saw where the 'little girl' getting her license in a standard transmission car was too easy. You know we have hills on some roads that you can't see the front of the road over the hood and you have to stop at a stoplight for up to 4 minutes sometimes. Do you know how hard it is to hold a old Mustang (1969) in one spot on a huge incline with cars behind you right on the bumper and in front of you? Brakes on cars work just fine on simple flat dry roads but when its raining and you are on that hill having the foot on 3 peddles at once is an amazing trick that eventually wears the legs out. Back and forth back and forth waiting for the light to change, back and forth 3 inches over and over. . .
Anyway for the grocery getter a automatic and use lease cars these days to avoid the false transmission repairs caused by crooked little flyby night car maintenance places.

That GTR looks very nice! Would love the to take one for a spin to feel what it's like. The white color version indeed screams perfect itasha candidate...
Though it's shocking to see how many controls, knobs and other buttons they crammed onto the steering wheel and driver's side. Looks like you need a few hours reading the manual to know what each control is for. While it may be a great and fun sports car, with all those controls and electronics, where 's the real old-fashioned driving sensation gone to?
Love the comfort and security of modern day cars but nothing ever beat the sheer driving ecstacy of a good classic car like the '73 VW Beetle I had, now that was heavenly cruising.

Hmmm, there are so many sites dedicated to cars and myself have lost interest in the import scene myself. The GTR is pretty nice, the best bang-for-your-buck when you're talking about performance cars. It's too bad that you have to pay a premium well over sticker just to get one since dealers can charge all they want for one.
And Danny, I don't think you have to worry about manual transmission, the GTR is a clutchless automated manual. Which is really what the future will be, no more hassle of clutch manuals.

yes please Danny! more reviews on cars PLEASE!! especially shows, cuz sometimes you have a few cars with anime theme paint jobs so it would suit some of the readers if not so interested in these beautiful machines.
i'v only experienced the R-33, like the looks of the R-34 more then the new model. it is a well build machine, as most J-cars are ^^. to bad i can't have the older models since they are grey imports and the only way to get one in Europe is go to the UK. they have tons of em there but problems come with registration of the car in your home country since its drivers side is on the right only; would have to drive to the UK each year to renew the plates :( but right now saving for a Evo IX MR-2, only 5.000 Euros to go xP
New media student
There are imported JDM cars all over the Europe nowadays. That's correct, that it all begun in the UK, but nowadays they are not so rare anymore and not too difficult to register either. Here in Finland, for example, we have a lot of Skyline GT-Rs and other JDM cars.

As for the GTR after finally seeing one in person myself not to long ago I have to admit that it's a HUGE car compared to what it looks like in pictures. Makes the new 370Z look tiny in comparison when they are both shown together. You wouldn't want a second hand GTR or a first gen one anyways as they still have to many issues regarding the transmission and launch control and in Japan with the restrictions that Nissan built into the car it's kinda lame with the whole sorry can't have any fun in the car unless you take it to a certified track and then straight to a dealer for a very expensive service job hahaha poor sucker. I think the second gen ones will be a bit better but I think Nissan will still limit the car in Japan. It's not limited here in the States but I've heard of people getting their warranties voided right left and upside down not to mention the ungodly mark up on the car even with the crap economy dealers are still marking them up at 50% of the MSRP on the car. Which to me ultimately means an unreasonable and not interesting car and for the price I'd still rather buy a Porsche 911.
Last but not least it's kinda funny but really lame that your pictures got restricted someone didn't like the scantily clad figures I guess. What a joke. I'd protest the restrictions myself but don't know how futile that will be.

I think one a while a review about car on average joe perspective would be good either. Most of the reviews out there are by enthusiast and and elabotrate more on specs.
Been here for a week already, and only roponggi/harajuku/shibuya streets that i only saw expensive car rolls.
Anyway, if I were to get a car anytime soon, I'd go Audi A4. Nevertheless newer sports car no longer have the ol skool manual transmission. All comes in triptronic tranny

I drive stick. When we're talkin about utilizing the car to its potential, its the only way to drive.
I never really understood why people luved early model GT-Rs so much. Sure it was capable of being modded to racing spec with tremendous HP, but rarely have I seen someone really know how to effectively use all that raw power. It was a beast enclosed inside an plain square box.
This new GT-R looks beautiful, but looks quite heavy so I wonder how it feels to drive. Maybe someday I'll see for myself, but in the meantime I have other automotive favorites way before I favor this baby.

Its not, without getting into the technicalities, basically you can set the car choose between auto or manual; in manual you use the paddle shifts. If you look at the steering wheel pictures, you'll see paddles on the direectly behind the steering wheel with the "-" and "+"
And the best trial times were done in manual mode.
Monster Hunter and Amateur Figure Photographer
http://www.flickr.com/photos/peshmerga/
Oh, I'm well aware of the GT-R dual-clutch automated manual gearbox. Paddle-shift isn't manual. It's a manu-matic(?).
I care not for the track times, I care more for the driving experience. Driving a standard transmission entails moving the shifter through the H-pattern, footwork with the clutch, foot+shifter-hand coordination, etc. Essentially, with enough skill, the car becomes an extension of your body. The car will only do what you will want it to do. You shift badly, the car will tell you. You shift perfectly, the car will provide feedback.
One hasn't really driven an automobile until one has driven with a standard transmission. So you can see I just don't like automatics in any form, far too easy to drive, a non-engrossing experience overall, and turns driving into a daily convenience.
GT-R's a great car, but I think Nissan dropped the ball in not offering a standard transmission as an available option for those who prefer a manual.

Car reviews? Not too keen on the subject especially these sporty cars because I see car as a tool. But yes, I would like to see more car and perhaps even more tech related articles because I like Danny's style. Easy but nonetheless interesting aproach and yummy pictures.
I like manual transmission. I just can't seem to trust automatic especially in winter and with a trailer. I wan't to decide when I change. Altough I would like to lose the hand throttle because it's a hassle in traffic lights and crossing to adjust throttle, gears and pedals. Luckily it must only be done with a cold engine but it still makes going to work a bit more than annoying.

Being in the JDM scene I would just LOVE to see car reviews from you danny. Cars to me aren't just a tool for everyday use, its more like a person, a partner. Your car lives and breathes, it reacts to the way you treat it. Its part of your intrests and your personality. Every car you choose is almost like a path. It affects the people you meet, the way you drive, your mood. If you love your car and treat it as if it was your own, it will flourish and treat you right. If you abuse it and neglect it, it will be all run down, blow a headgasket, or kill itself. The GTR is like an art form to me. The VR38DTT surely is a masterpiece and the new fairlady is also very nice whilist using the same engine as the G37S. I think it would suit you well Danny ^_^

GTR WANT! I absolutely adore that car, although it doesn't quite get the same response when asked "what do you drive?" Somehow, "A Nissan" doesn't quite sound as impressive as "an Aston Martin" or "a Porsche."

Cool stuff Danny. Man, you got to sit inside the GT-R? When the GT-R made it's appearance in my town, it' was on a turn table with a chained barrier to prevent people even touching it's exterior.
