Wow... the dollfie are huge! I really want one of these... they're all so detailed but so much! Briareos has a really cool gun but the figure doesn't look as good. Deunan looks nice but doesn't have the big rifle. Motoko is cool in general but I like the Deunan figure better. Nice to see some high quality shots!

The GSC metal Tachikoma remains one of the things that I desperately want...but actually cannot afford no matter how hard I try to persuade myself. I finally found them in stock on HLJ a couple weeks back, but at $200+ after shipping, not even counting customs and tax, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Never seen Appleseed, but that Brieros is really impressive. Have also been wondering where Aoi got her gun - that he's the one she pilfered it off of just makes him even better. Of course, he costs even more than the Tachikoma so I'm not even going to bother.

The Appleseed figures look great (with the exception of Deunan's flat a**). I wish that level of detail went into the Motoko fig.

Heh, kind of makes me wish I were a blogger. Then I too could use my influence to get awesome free stuff that I would not otherwise be able to rationally afford (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Ah, a Shirow-sensei post ^o^ There was a 1/6 Tereus Hot Toys released sometime October 2008 to complete the Ex-Machina threesome ^^ (though he's not as popular as the more famous Appleseed couple, I sense), and also the Hot Toys "snap kits" set of the entire Eswat team and the Guges were great! Pity I only have Tereus here with me now, he has to wait until end of the year to see his team-mates back in Malaysia ^^

Briareos & Deunan were cool, though I prefer Bri more than Deunan simply because he looks more awesome! Deunan was really good too, if compared to the Takara CG version and the smaller 1/8 Wave version. Take some care with the rubber suits, was informed by some fellow fans that the rubber suit tear easily due to folding action near the limbs and joints...

RAH Motoko.... well, very disappointed with the statue, but overall looks better than previous attempt by Takara ^^ Was thinking of putting on the extra 1/6 Motoko Takara ninja-suit on the RAH version, but not sure if possible without removing (damaging) the existing costume. Can't try now because Cygirl Motoko at home and RAh is here with me in the UK...

And the Good Smile Gokin Tachikoma looks really good! Still in dillema whether I should have got one. Decided no to order last year as I preferred the Fewture version metal Tachikoma... it has the spider-legs instead of the wheel on the GSC one. And I've got the silver colour one too... so really didn't think GSC Tachi would be a necessary addition to my Tachikoma army ^^ Where's the little pose-able Motoko that came with Tachi-kun?

Anyway, first thing I should do when I get home would be to take group pictures of my Shirow figures and Tachikoma collection. Most of them still boxed as I was really busy with work before continuing my studies... ^_^

Great to see so much nice shots of Bri, Deunan, Motoko and Tachi-kun! Those who haven't watched Appleseed or GITS (????) should definitely do so. Or pick up the source-material manga, legendary stuffs ^_^ And for fellow comrades who love Shirow, did you guys know that there is a new Shirow artbook just out this month? It's called Pieces #1. 88 pages, hardcover on gorgeous print. about 1440 Yen published by Seishinsha. Very nice book! Ok... enough promotion from me....

we disagree on the CG in Ex Machina, I thought the figures were very very stiff and the hair was poorly animated, Duenan's hair in the movie looked like fish scales on her head. The fashback moments are by far the best in the movie.

That being said, the Duenan figure above is my favorite by far. Briareos never looked right to me, must be the stalk things sticking out of his head. The Tachikoma is a close second.

heh, I skipped on buying these when they first came out and now i'm hard pressed to find them. I have to agree with the general concensus that Bri looks more badass than Duenan but that's mostly cause it's easier to pull off a non-human face on figures than it is a cute ladies face. Don't like the looks of the RAH motoko figure tough :-/ Just so .. meh ? Not imposing at all either. But man i'm really loving all the details that went into the guns that come with the Appleseed figures !

Now a comment about your photographs themselves !
First of all im not trying to sound nitpicky but I hope it can be constructive to you.

Your DOF (depth of field) usage is kind of off in half the pictures, it doesn't make sense.
For example, the gun is pointing towards the viewer in some shots, except the huge (and nice) gun is totally blurred out whilst the top half portion (face , focus point ?) is sharp.
You probably shot them "wide open" and there are some other shots where half the upper body of a figure is just blurred away due to that. IMHO sure there are creative DOF uses but in these type of pictures a potential buyer would like to see the whole shebang in all it's sexy glory. Try shooting with appertures of F/4.0 and higher as I think you've been using F/2.8 and lower which produces an all-round sharp image.

You can still easily perform a blurring off the background in photoshop to still get a bit of DOF there whilst the figure in it's entirety remains crisp.

    Just my two cents :-)

You know, as big of a Masamune Shiro fan I am, I don't have any big figures from Appleseed or Ghost in the Shell.

Also, regarding that picture of Kagami(n) in the cockpit, I do wish there was a Tachikoma in scale with the Figmas - I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Briareos looks amazing, the finish and detailing on the figure is.... words can't describe how good it looks. Masamune Shiro is really good but out of all his series I prefer Dominion Tank Police, found it a enjoyable read. Ghost in the Shell is amazing as well but at times can be a lot of information to take in.

Hopefully whenever I do get around to coming to Japan I can buy a few of these goodies and bring them home ^__^
