wat tenrou said, unless you're exceptionally attracted with women by their rear views but even then, there're tonnes of Decepticons in Singapore, maybe elsewhere as well.

and what's a 'Decepticon'? one whom looks good from the back, but turn around and see her face and you'll run for life.

It seems to me there are media outlets all over who love to do nothing more than distort what other people say and take it out of context. Makes people end up being guarded in what they say.

oh yah Danny-san, Straits Time reporters are probably the most un-imaginative and useless reporters in the world. the media is generally biased and aligned with the government's interests. kinishinai de kudasai. and durian's less of a torture than bad publicity.

oh, and i hate that malay dude who interviewed you at the Orchard *scape park. his phony hosting makes me puke, along with an irritating accent.

It's possible that the interviewer wasn't able to catch the sense of your words because of the low language knowledge?
Happened to me to speak with foreign people that had not the cultural level to understand shades of what I was saying, things that are obvious to any other native speaker, but sounded "very strange" otherwise.

In Singapore, it's called the King of Fruits.

But as AK-kun says, it's personal preference.

People that don't like it says it has pungent urine smell.

      Otherwise, it's very very nice (: (: (:

People will actually come around in white coats(Traffic Marshals) to check your parking coupons. If u did not put them, u'll get a fine of like SGD $50 and above... depends on which lots you park in.

Different fines apply for different offenses.

Wow, didn't even noticed you went to Singapore and back. When are you thinking of going to other anime hubs around Asia, somewhere closer to your homebase, like Hong Kong or Taiwan? Stop giving these Singaporeans preferential treatment already, lol. (No offense intended ;) )

Your ordeal with the Straits Times incensed me. I have a feeling they treated you as a miscreant the moment they learned that you're an otaku, without wanting to know the many kinds of otakus out there, and just discriminating for the sake of discriminating. Perhaps the Singapore anime community ought to do something on Danny's behalf for this unwarranted injustice?

That internet cafe is quite different from any other I've seen around here. The computers are actually on heavy, thick wooden tables, and instead of being lined up against the wall they're all back-to-back. I agree with the bad publicity part I guess...what you need is honorable publicity! How do you let your mind get around the natural frustration that comes with negative publicity?

Hi Danny. Well it's good that you enjoyed most parts of your stay while in Singapore, though I would say it's sad to hear about the Straits Times article. I would agree that having no publicity at all is better than negative publicity when your words are taken out of context.

And you should go and try the durians, Danny. Who knows maybe one try and you will love it? But it would either be a hate-or-love affair for most people. Those who love it will say it tastes like heaven, those who hate it will just avoid it no matter what.

And yes, Singapore's a paradise when it comes to food. It's easy to get spoiled for choices here sometimes.

Singapore seems like a nice place, do they speak Chinese or they have different language? I'm not scared of going to Japan and going to countries where they speak Chinese scares me big time since I only know how to say 'Hello' and 'I Love You' in Chinese x_x

The national languages of Singapore are English, Malay, Chinese, and Tamil.
Most people would speak in English, but you may occasionally hear the Mandarin dialect of Chinese. Except for the older-generation, they would most likely to know English too.

So Danny, how awful does Durian smell?

Did you encounter much Xenophobia in Singapore? Seems kinda SOP for them. Sorry to see the one journalist went after you, I have no idea what he said, but I know the Gov't he works under is very obsessed with it's own personal definition of "decency." Makes me cringe. Think that guy was sucking up to Big Brother in the end? The best way to look like a good "subject" is to decry some to the king, whatnot.

Anyway, excellent photos, as always, and certainly looks like it was a learning experience.

I found store staff in Mexico are the same way. They follow you around with a calculator and the moment you stare at something for longer than a second, they offer to show it to you and whip out the calculator to give you the price and "discount". The more you haggle, the lower the price goes, and if you start walking out, they'll lower the price and keep shouting lower prices to you half a block away. XD In that case, it's more out of a case of desperately trying to sell you something vs. offering "customer service."

It's sad how the media can twist your words against you or put a horrible slant on facts. Finally, I've never tried Singaporean food, but it sure looks good! =^_^=

    4) Save enough to afford to travel out of the country.
