Would love to work in the anime/manga/figure industry, but I don't see anything yet of what exactly to do. I'm a IT-guy/programmer, so it would have to be something like that. But since I have some big projects coming up, it won't be anytime soon, but that gives me time to keep studying on my Japanese, of which I want to reach JLPT level 3 at the end of the year, and maybe the new level N3 (which is the new level between the old level 2 and 3). 1.5 year ago I've given myself 5 years to reach my goal of working/living in Japan (not necesarily in the aforementioned industry), so it's still 3.5 years to go, but you never know what the future brings. But I'm going to try different things and try to bring a Japanese angle to one of the big projects coming up ^^

I already have plans to work in this kind of industry and field in future. That's why I'm trying to get myself qualified in one of the university here in Japan.

I would love to work in any part of the animation industry, doesn't have to be Japanese, but that would be nicest lol And right now, I'm studying Animation in uni, and taking a weekly Japanese class. If all else goes eyes up, I could try for illustrations, not good enough for manga/comics yet, not....dynamic(?) enough yet.

Just getting to japan is my first goal, well learn the language first well enough. But it would be a dream to work in the anime/manga/figure industry. Every time im on DC your always having kickass networking parties, live broadcasts and anime conventions/festivals just seems so crazy doing what you really really enjoy doing everyday. thanks for posting these! I didn't get to watch the whole live show, it just went on for too long so I missed these parts. Very entertaining and cool to see someone like Billy who doesn't really speak Japanese being able to not only have a Figma made of him but be able to go to Japan and be a guest on the show. Danny, even though you seemed to have stumbled a bit concerning the lactic acid and other biology-related jargon, overall not bad as a "last minute translator". I think I'd freak out and really enact a scene from "Lost in Translation" if you ask me to do any instantaneous translation from Japanese to English, even if I were to pass all my JLPT exams.

So ignore some of the more ignorant Nico comments about "how crap the translator was", because they probably do worse than you if they were to do it.

Billy seems to be really enjoying himself, and good for him for being such an affable bloke. No doubt aided by your translation as well, and maybe your unique "English sense of humour", if you know what I mean, mate. ;)

Let me put it this way, I do have a destination in mind; the path to get there is not as clear as I wish it would be but I do feel it in front of me.

Awesome job translating Danny. Was an interesting and funny interview/event. There were times when it looked like Billy was wondering what everyone was talking about.

Some others might think your English has an accent but I didn't notice an accent much if at all. Your English sounds like people around here, Northwest/West Coast(Oregon/Washington/California).

Wow...tiring and fun...i would have to see if my path would lead me to the anime path...

Real time translating is tough work indeed. I had to do it for my director and producer during Freedom's screening at a animation festival in Singapore and it was pretty scary, especially when neither my Japanese nor English are particularly fantastic - I must have looked like a wally half the time.

I was trying my hardest to watch it live on Saturday, since my entry for the Good Smile's photo competition was a runner-up but I didn't manage to win anything after all, which was a shame. Still an honour to be a runner-up no matter what.

Although anime/manga dominates my life, it must be so hard to work in such an industry... Since I am studying engineering now, it makes it harder to get a job there since the skills don't really match. It would be cool to experience it though one day.
