    what have I find in food before?
    Definitely had a curly hair in food at least twice (argh) one was in a ice cream dessert =_= the other was a club sandwich (both which they replaced...) the best one was a part of a baby cockroach in a fried vegetarian noodle :P I thought it was a mushroom at first but noticed it had too many "legs" to be a mushroom... upon closer look it's what I mentioned... The stall let me had other selection for free as a replacement =_= I never went back to it again ^^;

    I also had a tiny (very tiny) baby frog in some veggie dish at the canteen of a school before :P I think it was alive too which was how I spotted it before I ate... I never finished my lunch ^^;

    There've been many a hair that I've encountered at some restaurants. I think the worse that happened to me was at a former restaurant that my boyfriend and I would frequent for its veggie cuisine. Unfortunately, before we could enjoy our milk tea, we found a booger in it --;;;;;

    Never going there again.

    Lovely pictures as usual! I really like Saber with curly hair :D Also, did you have a favorite cake from Cozy Corner? They all look so delicious~

    Mikuru Shana looks lovely. ^^ about toilets, the most smelly one I had to go into was in a small province in China, folks there left loads of poop in the urinals. couldn't stand the stench that I had to go find myself a large pleasant smelling tree to do my business. ^^;

            He's not kidding, they really are that bad. What's surprising is that back in the days when I was in China, only good bathrooms had urinals. The bad ones consists of slits in the ground for the poop. No one really cares about where to urinate.

            Yeah...one has to be on constant alert against human droppings, we used to call them 地雷 (land mines)

              lol I forgot to mention the scariest one I saw, when riding a train in China, you'd notice the poop hole is just a hole in the train, with the tracks running down at the bottom. not only will one feel a draft up from the bottom, but one misstep might make one loose more than just his poop. ^^;

              Yeah, that was how it worked back then. The "good" ones had a lever or something that "flushes" the contents down (onto the tracks), and then there's the other variety...

        Did not realize people actually worked on software solutions for this. Kids have it so easy nowadays. Still prefer a hardware solution though. Seems more reliable.

          Synergy is amazing if you're looking to cross OSes (I use this to control two Ubuntu workstations, XP and a Macbook Pro), otherwise Teleport is way easier to configure and offers some drag and drop goodies.

          Waaaa, beat to it. But, yeah, teleport and synergy are neat. It's just that when I used it at home, my wireless wasn't able to take it and synergy would die every now and then. I haven't tried using a hub to connect my synergy machines, but I will when I have the time and desk space.

              At work we use teleport between one of our iMacs and a Mini (used as an FTP server) and it works quite well once you get used to it. The only small problem is when you accidently move the mouse too far and jump when you don't want to.

          Synergy doesn't use authentication nor encryption of any kind. Unless you tunnel the data it's a really bad option. Key presses and such could be eavesdropped by any client connecting, that includes passwords, ecchi video searches and what not.

    Neat looking geothermal vents in the 1st photo. I have NEVER seen a Fish Pizza! Thanks thats a 1st. Eyelash isn't so bad really, could have even been your own as you turned sideways and as your face rubbed your arm it fell off. /shrug

    Now that hamburger onion rings and french fries thats right up my alley I know what that is and I will take 2 orders right now! It really looks good. I recently ran out of tea and started mixing fresh lemon juice in water with no sugar and heating it as if I had tea. It is really good just like it is. Hope the video you all make from the balcony of that room turns out good the pictures give the air of humidity and the buildings are crystal clear. Worst bathrooms (without getting too gross):

    Was a baseball stadium (not sure if it was Seattle or Cleveland) that has trough style urinals where the men line up, expose their dolphins and let er rip all in a line without any barriers in between. Definitely not for the meek or those lacking confidence in their dolphins. I've heard of a version of this where not only it's not only a trough but a double sided trough, so not only do you pee next to someone, you're facing someone as well. I've used the non-double sided version, have only heard about the double sided one.

    Grossest was probably a bathroom in South Korea (was told about this by a co-worker who had to use it) where the "bathroom" was angled slab of concrete that opened into a small grate. The angle of the slab is quite steep, so as you're doing your business, you're hanging on for dear life else you'd fall into the area of unpleasant looking water by the small gate. When you were done with your business, a lady from the kitchen (which unfortunately adjoined the bathroom area) came out with a water hose and "flushed" for you by squirting water at your chocolate sharks into the grate.

    Finally, I've heard of a story in India (these exist in Korea too and I've confirmed this) of an outhouse that is just a hole that leads into a den of pigs below. Sometimes the pigs get rather excited about their "meals" and you'd see a pig snout poking from below.

    I would also like to mention ornehx for answering so quickly in the last few rounds and I know that his final answer was also very close. Keep that up, then you’ll have a great chance at the next giveaway. ^^

    Final pieces of advice for future contenders:
    If you want it, go for it. Copy/paste kanji names if you can’t type it out. Don’t be discouraged by Japanese sites – use a translator if you need to.

      It was a long but fun-filled interesting battle.

      Do remember to post picture of your prize when you receive it.
      And it would also be great if you could share your way to get the answers...

      As for me on how I did it so fast in previous few rounds was that I used Danny's search function
      Searching for keywords like
      Amazon De Wa Doko (I suspect something with De as the the grammar of this sentence is weird - so I search up Germany and saw and article with the same picture)
      As for Mitsuike Park - I search using keyword, "Park" "Haruhi" "Calbee" "Picnic" and somehow found a Hanami article with the same picture

      Once again thank you everyone!!!

    The toilets here are pretty decent. People seem to control their dolphin just fine, but washing hands seems to be a rare sight, and if you're lucky, you get to see the poor imitation of washing hands, which includes no soap, and minimal amounts of water (This is actually only done so your fingers get wet enough for you to need some tissues. This way it looks like you actually washed your hands, tragic)
    The food simply looks too delicious, although I've had some really bad incounters with Japanese pastery. This might be because I'm from Scandinavia, where "Danish" comes from, LOL^^

    Heh, I love that "Thank you for keeping the toilet clean" signs all over the toilet. I don't know if that will actually work here though... Some people are just too inconsiderate. Like people just take a whiz when the seat's down. I usually kick the seat up before I have to take a whiz. Another one of my pet peeves.

    For the webcam you could use a digital camera like a canon powershot G10 which has a timelapse mode, you would need to buy the adapter that allows you to plug it into the mains and should be able to configure it to take the photo and immediately transfer it via USB.

    Danny if you i know of a way to control both your macs with one keyboard. its an open source software called synergy. i use it with multiple PCs. Synergy basically uses TCPIP to relay information for mouse and keyboard movement.so in essence it allows your keyboard and mouse to span across all screens. the nice thing about synergy is its compatible with mac OSX, windows, and linux. i have 2 computers setup. the OSX is a 24" and the windows is a 22 portrait and i can move the mouse back and forth between the monitors. keyboard works about 90% of the time. if you find the keyboard not responding you just have to drag it back over to the server computer then back. overall i'm quite happy with it cause it actually works like its supposed to and its free :) i still havent tweaked it to the point where it will auto start everything. (i'm not sure how to write scripts in OSX yet.) but if you know you can script it so that the server and the clients start up when your OSX starts up. the only negative thing is the fact that in windows they have GUI built, while in OSX and linux you have to manage everything through the terminal and config files. take a look at it. i think its the only thing of its kind on the market. oh yea and last plus. you can copy and paste clipboards between computers :)

    I didn't know Japan had an Isetan store! I only know of one here in the Philippines and it's in Quiapo, Manila. Very old store. 'was there before I was born. I know because before I move to where me and my family currently lived, we used to stay there at Quiapo. 'tis a big surprise for me.

    Just like in the previous article, I try to avoid doing #2 outside the house. If I would do #2, I would do it before I go out OR whenever it's in a day where I know I'll be staying all day inside. I can't remember the worst public toilet I've been but what I remember is that there was brown EVERYWHERE!!! DX

    I don't mind if it's only hair that's on top of my food. I'd just remove it and continue eating. Never had any questionable foreign objects on my food/drinks yet.

    I wanna live in a place similar to Mr. Matt's mansion.I wanna wake up every morning with the sight of a big city below me! I also love high places.

    The overpasses here are mostly made out of steel and are colored blue and PINK (thanks to MMDA). Not the best place to pass through because some beggars sleep, eat and do their business there. No wonder people choose to violate the law and jaywalk O_o

    Seem like you have a nice week. If I get some 'extra' add-on on my food that I'm gonna eat I will just call the waiter and tell them to change it or else. I had a friend have eaten a curry mee in the school canteen and you know what? He dig up a cockroach below and suddenly stopped eating and try to vomit it all out. Euuh!~

    The new 007 is dull nothing really new but the character in the movie is well developed. Talk about toilet in my country it's dirty and stinky sometime you can even see poop laying around.

    Lucky YouTubers got advertised here in DC. Some of the toilets here are pretty clean but some are really dirty one example would be the ones in gas stations. And about having foreign objects on my food. I've experienced having a cockroach in my noodles, the sad thing is that it was underneath so I didn't saw it until I almost finished the meal, really unforgettable I must say.

    Bathrooms...ones at university are fine becuase douchbags who defile them are almost non-existant here. Back at highschool the stench of urine was considered normal, toilets are clogged with poop 80% of the time, and my highschool was one of the better ones. (I'm not sure about the girls' rooms though, I've heard a teacher complain about them when he was forced to use the student bathroom ^^;

    Ones in public are quite random. There were lots that were really clean and others where there are human droppings under the toilet bowl.

    those views from Matt's mansion are most drool worthy. Yowsa! ^^

    At a local chain Chinese takeout place i found a slug in my food, unfortunately I had already had it half swallowed, i kept wondering what the crunchy bit was from and picked through my food until I found the other half of it. It made me sick but it was too late, I had already swallowed the half in my mouth before I found the other half. At US Chinese places they get real aggressive with the metal spatulas in the woks and the cook must have chopped it in half as he tossed the food around. I had already eaten half so I just pushed the plate away and walked out. Didn't get sick or anything amazingly.

    Dirtiest toilet I have ever had the dubious pleasure of using was at a pizza joint owned by a friend's father, it stank and looked like they cleaned it once a year. There was just enough clean area to sit down without touching something slimy. ick. Icould not really say much about it because the it was his parents' restaurant and they were selling it anyway. They knew how bad it was and simply didn't care.

    The best features of a webcam IMO are a high frame rate, and the ability to move and zoom in on things. Exploration is really what makes a webcam fun to me, high resolution is nice but not very interesting after awhile and it's hard to track anything moving with a low frame rate.

    Thankfully, I've never had anyone spit in my milkshake or anything like that, but I remember one time that my boy scout troop picked up some cheap pizzas to snack on... I want to comment on Image ID #24442 concerning bathrooms. I agree American public bathrooms are "less than desired" in terms of privacy. Having been to othher countries like New Zealand and Japan, the oublic bathrooms are conducive to taking a dump in peace and quiet !

    <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3409/3252542042_e1006328bf.jpg" border=0> is an example of the lack of privacy. This was on the Westbound side of I-64 on the IL side of the IL/IN state border. Not a place to take a dump at unless you are desparate. There is a gas station a few miles away near the I-64/IL 1 exit.

    The hotel that you can "pretend" to be a guest at is the Mark City Building. The hotel's name is Excel Tokyu. I stayed there the last 2 weeks of 2008. New Years at the crossing was the most surreal thing I had ever seen. So many people. It was pandemonium.

    Meant to contact you, Danny. But I was there for an interview (on Dec. 25th), and after that I was trying to enjoy myself yet I had the interview still on my mind, haha. Can't wait to head back (hopefully one way) in July. We'll do lunch!!

    Your pics made me shed a tear, LOL...I say that in the most manliest way possible...yea...

    I've read about time-lapse photography from <a href="http://lifehacker.com/387380/turn-your-point+and+shoot-into-a-super+camera">here</a>, it's a little guide on how to hack a canon point-and-shot camera to a super camera. then, the super camera can be loaded with <a href="http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Scripts">Interval Shooting script. </a>

    Another article about <a href="http://photojojo.com/content/tutorials/ultimate-guide-to-time-lapse-photography/">time-lapse photography.</a>

    Im quite amazed that so many people are shocked about urinals without seperation /Dolphin Looker Scurity.Its totally comon thing here.It varies from one long urinal to several small ones next to each other

    Some fine examples:

    Great pics DC. Wish there were some high places I could shoot photos from too! So do you get permission before shooting in the shops...?

    That new Sony VAIO's too small for my tastes and, wuld like to have some hot beverage machines here too!

    I'm pretty sure we had this toilet discussion before but... They're pretty clean here and don't have gaps in the cubicals. Some do have blue lights though to discourage the drug addicts from visiting because they can't see their veins that way.

    Worst I've been to was in China which were the traditional toilets and there were "land mines" around the edges. One even had a giant hairy spider nested in it! Others were a few in the Mong Kok arcades in HK. Poorly maintained and you practically have to fight to use to them. Also think they had gaps there.

    On a side note, did you catch sight of any volcanic ash in your area? Saw on the news a volcano erupted and spewed some ash over Tokyo.

    No comments about foul toilets or undesirable 'extras' in restaurant meals.
    I ate at the Burger King in Shibuya. Again, it was OK. I am still uncertain if the beef was imported from Australia or the U.S.A. (Tokyo Metro subway trains almost always had a display ad for the marketing board of U.S.- processed meats [beef & pork]: americanmeat.jp.)
    For the basic difference between McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King: McDonald's makes burgers - fried - and french fries *before* anybody orders them; Wendy's makes burgers - fried - _when_ somebody orders one; and Burger King makes burgers - broiled - _when_ somebody orders one.
    You can sense what is the hazard here at McDonald's. Prepared food gets discarded; or you could be the _unlucky_ one who orders the sandwich and | or fries *seconds* before it would have been discarded. At Wendy's or Burger King, a sandwich is not waiting for someone.
    I also went to the Kua'Aina in east Shinjuku [1-10-4]. The hamburger lunch set cost me ¥1,270. The shop must have a broadband internet connection because it was playing KSSK-FM 92.3 from Honolulu (in English) in the background.
    I didn't want a beer so early in the afternoon, but let me tell you that the beers from Kona Brwg. Co. of Hawaii [the _big island_] are quite good. The Longboard Lager is a balanced beer that goes well with red meats.
    Now if a new "organic" burger restaurant which we have here in Chicago ['Epic Burger'] opens there, _that_ would be the one for which to stand in line. Everything it serves is supposedly certified organic {I have a mild distrust of how an object is certified "organic". I think if you give enough money to the organization which gives you the certification, you're going to get the certification.}. You can get a beef burger with a choice of two buns and three cheeses, french fries, and a soda for $10. A fried egg atop your burger is an extra 60¢. Even the ketchup & mustard is "organic".

    Pellet from shot gun.
    Various insects.

    Plastic.

    Worst bathrooms.

    Original Detroit Tigers baseball stadium in the 70's when I was a kid.

    Actual rural outhouse on my grandparents old property again when I was a kid.

    Military style latrine when I was a boy scout in the 80's, preteen and teenage boys have no concept of bullseye aim.

    A few truck stop / rest stops across the country, if it looks like a dive and smells like a dive then run like hell.

    Various customers homes during my time as a field technician working for a DBS provider, I have horror stories I could tell you about the way people live.

    And the worst by far is where I work at now with people 18 years old all the way up, you would think that adults would have good bathroom hygiene but alas that is not the case and there have been several times that I have went to use a stall only to find a beached whale resting on the shore line and several times have found the dried remains of an orange sweaty butt print indicating that someone I work with does not bath and sweats heavily.

    Theres a company that makes what is best described as an A/B switch that allows you to use a single keyboard and mouse to control to computers and use one monitor as well. The device is made to work with vga computer monitors so your looking at an ibm based device but if you have an lcd monitor then you should be fine.

    What I found in food:
    Going to my boyfriend's house and got offered a paper bag of peanuts. Ate some and later decided to tip the rest out into the bowl and to continue eating. Then I noticed out of the corner of my eye, something wriggling! @_@ It was full of maggots. The bag of peanuts had been sitting in the cupboard for some time and there was a bit of a moth problem.

    Worst toilets are probably in Malaysia, with the exception of New Zealand (will get to that). I remember as a kid going to the coffee shops for lunch and needing to pee. So you get taken to the back of the shop to a dark, wet and smelly room and told to pee down the drain hole.

    Went to one of the national parks on the South Island of New Zealand (apparently they filmed part of Lord of the Rings there) and wanted to use the toilets at the car park. It's a hole in the ground, but to give you something to sit on they cut one of those giant concrete pipes to the height of a toilet, then put a toilet seat on it. What hits you is the smell, then the sight of brown stuff around the toilet, on the seat, on the walls...
