I think free wifi everywhere would be much cooler. Regarding your search for a moesome 2D girl calendar for next year, I have a solution. I took a bunch of Hi res images that I liked and got a professional printing service to make a calendar for me.

It turned out really well and all the pictures are EXACTLY what I wanted ^^ I on;y paid £7.02 including postage for 2 a4 calendars. I thought it was great value.

wow - nice article. so much covered from conferences, a singapore trip, an interview to food in one article.
one q: wont the cooking brush leave scratches on the figures?
about pirated software being used in my workplace - nopes. even it were i wouldn't grass over it cause it would mean trouble to me cause people get corrupted here over a small amount of money.
also think i might have to forgo the next contest, cause i dont want to join youtube. the net connection sucks here bigtime. i'd rather have a 100mbps connection than free wifi (i dont have any wifi enabled devices ;) )

    Actually, next year that Wireless@SG wont be free anymore (if im not wrong) ^^; it was free to 'market' it so ppl get used to browse freely with their laptop in starbucks, etc. But once its not free, they gotta paid to surf anywhere ^^;

I’m sure you will be inundated with more homemade calendars than you can manage now.

By the way, I use a mouthpiece brush or recorder cleaner to dust down my figures. They only cost pennies in UK.

Bean-made coffee is so easy to make, and I agree, is the better tasting.

Nice video ^^. I'm hoping to work on a few start-ups once I graduate in a few weeks. Both of them I want to make due to I feel that they will fill a void on the internet that I feel nobody has stepped up to do. While I do hope that I will get money out of them eventually, the main reason I'm making them is that I want people to feel connected or help provide information to people in an easy and simple manner. I hope it is something that works out next year ^^i

I remember Danny talking about this when he was in Germany. He asked how many of us who had problems with blocking of DC. I can't remember the answer to that question though, but a search could tell if you are really interested in this question. I don't have blocking issues and that's good enough to know for me (at least for now)

I think getting a faster net connection would be better thab a free wifi. What if the makers of the Wifi has a conspiracy, then the outcome would be bad. There are free wireless connectivity, but the connection is crappy. LOL, better to get a guaranteed 100 mbps, physically connected. World is moving so many people will know how to make a 100mbps on their own, making it free.

I like those pictures too. There is something facinating about looking at the ground from a plane. However I hate flying. I don't like the forces and movements of a plane. Also the more I learn about safety and how planes work the more I don't like flying, which is interesting because airlines actually tell people about how planes work to get them comfortable about flying... it's the opposite with me ^^

I have one of those stuffed animals from the crane game that I won. Those games are pretty addictive. As for Indiana Jones, South Park put it best: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg raped Indy.

we already have free wifi in Paris in almost all the public space ( garden, museum etc..) and admistration building. it give u a free wifi access for an hour, after that u have to restart a session but u can restart as many time as u want. take a long time to settle that because the internet providers were not really happy and also because there was a lots of legals issue. So that, plus Mc donald free wifi and a lot of restaurants and bars that also provide wifi u can connect to internet almost everywhere in Paris. but not really sure that is usefull since that Two providers annouce that they gonna start WIMAX next year, going first in Paris.

And if they even had pirate software in use, I still wouldn't grass the company (you can see it as a benefit actually, in case your boss starts to get really annoying you can threathen to grass him/her).

About the 100 Mbps/free WiFi, I personally would rather have 100 Mbps. Since I'm only online on my desktop (I don't have a laptop yet), free WiFi has no benefits for me.

I don't trust wifi security. I ended up using cables to connect everything instead of wifi due to security for both the network and me. Considering the research results on affects of waves from mobile phones, then I guess wifi can be at least as bad. It might even be worse because the energy in the signal is higher.

Also using cables gives me gigabit ethernet. Quite useful for streaming video and fast forwarding ^^

    What I'd prefer?

100Mbps. By far. Heck. I've been dreaming of a line with decent upstream bandwidth for ages. I'd actually start hosting webpages at home then. The main reason I do not own a webpage right now is that I am weary of free providers/dislike their ToS/limitations/whatever, and I am not willing to pay for a shitty webhoster. And good webhosters tend to be expensive. I'd rather have a dedicated box I built myself at home for that. I could also host voicechat servers, or whatever the hell is needed for whatever. As well as a decent FTP as internet storage for friends of mine.

After moving here I got stuck with a shitty 3Mbps down/360Kbps up ADSL line, which fails. The 16Mbps down/1.5Mbps up I had at my previous place was nicer, but alas, the 3Mbps line is as good as it gets over here.

I'd probably kill to have internet per optical carrier at home.

As for WiFi everywhere, I have a sort of irrational hate on everything that works wirelessy, so that's a no-go for me.

Well. I can kind of see that happening in internet cafes or when using any kind of public internet connection. Someone uptight would likely flag DC for the mature figure content.

Technically I can't surf DC at school without risking getting into trouble.

Warning. German wall of text. Made of lawbabble.

To make it short, since the fifth of this month or so, any pornographic material of people that APPEAR underage (even if they are not) is illegal. This includes drawn work like doujinshi.

How a drawn character can 'appear' or 'not appear' underage is kind of a riddle to me. Some sections are rather awkwardly and/or mushily worded, too.

In the end, depending on the judge, I bet you could lock up half of the people in the darn country if you just interpreted the wording the 'right' way.

Curiously enough, my current school has rather lax firewall settings. Our admins are good with computers, but not with the 'internet'. All the obvious pages (like the ones containing 'naughty words' in the URL) are of course blocked. But pages like DC, meidocafe.jp, danbooru or 4chan are NOT.

Though I admit, those are holes that I rarely exploit, given the fact that I do not want any misunderstandings.

Danny, how much is the monthly fee for 100Mbps in Japan?
I remember you mentioned Japan uses fiber optics cabling?

It's bout SGD90/mth for that speed here. And that's the promotional rate.

If I recall correctly, he said he pays 5000 yen a month.

Which is orders of magnitude less than what I'd have to pay here. (Considering it'd mean the ISP would have to run a underground fiber line just for me for at the least 400 meters or so. And that's being optimistic.)

Anyway I have to disagree on the supposedly "nationwide" coverage of the wireless@sg. It is usually available in places like libraries, starbucks and such, but not really everywhere.

Add that with a number of people using the same router as you and massive lag ensues. I want the 100 mbps please, takeaway. :D
