It sounds expensive! Especially the Giri Choco bit; are you expected to really splurge on your boss, or will a simple Kitkat do? xD Makes me glad this sort of thing isn't expected here, sans back in elementary school where everyone insisted you make piddly little valentine's cards for your entire class. If we -did- have white day here, I'd probably figure boys were only giving me gifts over obligations from valentine's day, instead of any other reason, anywho ^^; Self confidence what?

White day not caught up in my part of the world. Usually its the guy who gives chocolates to girls during valentines from where i come from(and loads of other stuff too). Come to think, if its the guy giving chocolates(loads of other stuff too) to girls during valentines, shouldn't there be a day where a girl gives you know...something...back?

Then, nine months later, the girl gives another gift to the guy... ^^

No white day around these parts. Here in Germany it's normally up to the man to buy his women some flowers or take her out to her favourite restaurant (women will normally expect both from you). Both giving each other presents is also common (with that I mean everything else than the usual, men gets his woman a present and takes her out and gets sex in return).

...Funny thing, that. In my university Japanese course a couple of us are trying to celebrate Japanese holidays for the fun of it. Earlier in February some of the girls brought chocolate to class and I got some giri choco.

Now, two weeks or so back, we had skit presentations. Long story short I ended up playing a female role, and since I live by the policy that anything worth doing is worth doing with all my effort I put on a great performance...

Thus I was treated as a girl this week for White Day and got more chocolate. *facepalm* Oh well, best of both worlds? xD

I think I'd shut myself in on Valentine's Day to be sure I don't receive anything, that way I don't have to go broke for White Day. Nothing like that here I guess the US hasn't learned how to capitalize off the idea in the best way possible yet. Sounds like a good strategy for the economy though.

White day would be attacked in America, even though 85% of us are in fact White. It would be seen a preferential treatment and racist. In the land of majority rule the majority are full of fear of being branded as racist. What a world Liberals have created (or ruined)for common sense. Speaking of common sense, it's amazing how we fall for these silly "product" based holidays...speaking of which, Mothers day is almost here, I gotta get a card!

Theres no white day here in the states but the closest thing that comes to it in regards to the workplace is bosses day and secretaries day. There is also a industry made sweetest day thats more regional to the mid western states. If I ever go back to a managing position I would never give out a raise because someone bought me a box of chocolates. It would be better to decline the gifts as accepting them can be seen in the wrong light.

Never heard of it!! In fact, here in Brazil, we do not celebrate Valentine's Day in february. The reason is because decades ago a big Store launched a special sale in June, a season of the year that has no special dates here. And from then on, this date "catched" and became our Valentine's Day.

Here we don't give chocolates, like in Japan. That's a pitty, because I never dated, so if I lived in Japan at least I could receive some chocolate from friends or co-workers...

Nobody around here even knows what White Day is, aside from us Otaku types. It's usually the guys giving chocolates or whatever to the girls on Valentines day, or both parties exchanging gifts.

Part of me thinks that the girls around here wouldn't object to White Day.

Haha it's not celebrated here officially, but to those who know of it they sometimes give gifts to girls.

I know someone who got a new figma for White Day since she helped her male friend get a new figure in the last month

    About that......

buying gifts for loved ones = serious business
then the chance they may keep it or chuck it away = 50/50
    either way, retailers makes money

    I celebrate it with my friends, even though 99% of them have no clue what it's about. But I just give them chocolates anyway ^^;
