I live in New Jersey. That should be enough right there.

My father moved to California over 20 years ago, recently came back east for the first time in 15 years. He noticed how few people smile around here... It's crowded, people are MORE than grumpy. Not everyone is like that, but it is the majority.

I try not to let it get to me.

In any way, people simpathise with funny guys who just are doing crazy stuff.
Here where i live its the same, if i walked around in some Trooper Costume with some buddies filming, walking with music around, people would come and want to shake my hand or take some picks.
Cause, when do you shake the hand of a trooper ??

Wasnt there some people who told'ya " might the force be with you " ?

People in my reigon are horrible. Out of all the United States, the city of Los Angeles in the Southern part of the state of California has a reputation of people not talking to one another. It is said that in other parts of the U.S. such as New York, Chicago, Denver, etc, etc....you would be forced to get into a conversation with a stranger on a regular daily basis. In Los Angeles though it's a different story. The streets of Los Angeles are getting rougher with racial wars increasing, mostly provoked by rivalries of gangs. The biggest rivalry so far is the Latino community versus the African-American community. 20 years ago it wasn't like this but because of what happens between gangs, mobbs & drug dealers, the racial tension spills on the rest of the community that doesn't even have anything to do with the gangs and the mobbs inside the jails and state prisons.

The point is, there is a 25% chance you'll meet anyone nice, let alone a girl, in Los Angeles. Everyone is sticking to their own ethnic group now and everyone constantly has to watch over their shoulder because people who don't want this kind of drama to come their way, comes around anyway.

But i do enjoy one thing about the nice people i meet in L.A. and that's the fact that they aren't even from L.A. I've met people from other states who recently moved to L.A. and they make you wish more and more residents who have lived in L.A. all their life would also be nice people.

スピカ solution! Get one of those old BIG headphones (maybe you can ask around from your audiophile friends, for those that have broken padding or where the headband broke) and a small cheap headphone amp. Remove the cans from the headband, use them like speakers. A small headphone amp is the size of a box of cigarettes, costs less than 100 USD for low end ones. Pump up the volume using the amp and you have a small portable sound system ^^

Ack, forgot to copy-paste the rest of my reply.

As for people in my region, it's hard to garner conversations with random people. One time, I walked around downtown saying "hi" to people at random and they looked at me weird :(

Slightly related to your Stormtrooper bit; every year at SDSU, The TFM (television film media) department does an experiment with the local Star Wars Society and has those with Stormtrooper armor visit the classrooms and sit down during lecture. My boyfriend recently acquired Shadow Stormtrooper armor and is going to participate in this! I've only seen what happens in the papers but if I have breaks during the participating classes, I think I might sit down in the lecture and see what happens :D

You should modify the Stormtrooper suit, make it, Gundam-Trooper suit. Put a boombox on as a backpack/jet-pack noise blasting experience when you dance. Just say'n.

During my stay in Japan, I felt that the people were so nice-- in Tokyo and especially in Hiroshima. I really loved being there because it was so unlike NYC. Even though both Tokyo and NYC are metropolis, NYC people are ALWAYS in a rush and maybe even rude (?). -_- I love it though. ^^ I felt very welcomed in Japan which has made me miss it so much and that's why I'll be returning.

Is it me or does the girl taking pictures in image ID#21435 look exactly like Ai Takahashi?
As far as my dressing up in public experiences go i think you always get mixed reactions from the public. When I was in Istanbul I found that everyone I encountered loved the fact we were dressed up. However we found out the day after the owner of the club we were in had hired extra security to keep the locals out and from apparently killing us. The Turkish press who were buying us drinks and photographing us all night ripped us to peices in the papers the day after, we also headlined the news on the TV. Still, got to cuddle loads of girls, even pulled some random Turkish student who's email address I lost in my pink polkadot mouse suit. Doubt i'll be back in Turkey anytime soon anyways. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?page=3&aid=38726&id=535482476#/photo.php?pid=900726&id=535482476 for my get up.
