Not counting necessities, but purely recreational spending. I'd say it's about 700-1000 per month on eating out, gas, venue expenses, random items, etc. It would probably be alot less if I were single, but then all those prostitutes would cost an arm & a leg. Especially when they steal your wallet in the morning.

LOL at all the sweet Mikurus in their new outfits. And Hiyori looks soo cute....it's just that the huge pumpkin on her head makes it look kinda strange.
My monthly spendings vary extremely, and as I see a peak from sept.-nov (Haruka, Hayate and Ryogi releases), I'm trying to reduce it to 0 until then (one of the advantages of still living with you folks I guess)

Youre one lucky dude Danny...No need to spend money on Figures because the Figures get to you for free most of the time.I spend around 200€ a monh on unnescesary things. The rest of my money goes down the drain for living expenses.

I spent 2 weeks in Tokyo last year and I'm pretty certain I never saw two vending machines with exactly the same selection of drinks. Perhaps a mathematician otaku can calculate the number of different combinations that are possible.

Oh and not a single vending machine ate my money. I never use vending machines is London as there's a 30% chance it will eat your money and not give you anything in return.

I've already spent my ten bucks this month, I am soooo hungry... =_= Usually, I tend to keep spending below fifty per month, but since I'm between jobs, it has to go to things that will help me out. My last big buy was a ten dollar bag/basket for my bike so I can go shopping for smaller things without using gas. Couldn't afford the huge basket that I could fit a gallon of milk and loaf of bread in, but I'll save up for that some day when I get hired somewhere.

About the recycle bit, there aren't many people who jump on recycling here in the states. If they do, they have to pay for municipal pick up or take it to a scrap buyer. College campuses tend to have many recycling bins, but people just as much toss their bottles and cans. Personally, I find no shame in dumpster diving to get more cans to redeem... I once knew a guy that saved up and bought a car just by recycling cans. O.o Inspiration!!! :D

let's see now with the exception of the previous week, in which i was forced to partake in frivolous activities for uni orientation i would say my expenses on anime, manga, transportation and food amounts to about say... 300SGD for me? the most of which were spent on manga

Nice article, Danny. Every time I wonder how you manage to put away all that food XD
Hmm... converted my amount and I have a budget of spending around $60 per month. Is it a lot or little, I can't tell anymore ^^; I tend to buy one or a mixture of these: Art supplies, manga, figures, books, pc supplies, games, living goods and airtime; this isn't a consistent list as I buy less than $60 at times.
Around here, it's anywhere between 250-700 yen for a 'decent' meal. You could pay less; it really depends where you buy.

As far as expenses go, I've been spending at least $100 on my figures and models a month, and give or take another $200 on my daily expenses and my coffee expenses. Total monthly, I'd say $400 - 500 give or take.

Hehe, those Nendoroid are cutely versatile. I can just see Haruhi going 'Smells like Mikuru~' in the classic costume exchange style. Personally I have to admit that I spend a rather high amount of cash on myself and hobbies.

Danny's back with my weekly dose of "I want to live in Japan"... ^^'
Some classical pics on this collection... the bike sea, Suica pass machines and vending machines, which I just love!
I miss so much being able to buy hot green tea, coffee and other stuff from a handy machine like that...

Vending machines are still kinda rare in Brazil, and even when you find one, it's for cold soft drinks only.
When they became famous around the world, people did try to introduce them in Brazil, but I think it didn't work so well...

Loved nendo Mikuru-chan with the new clothing... fits her well. Haruhi is too cute with that frog suit.

Well, I already said I want that Pixie Hiyori... so there you go, one more time.

I'm curious about something... Danny, how many meetings you go per week? Maybe it's because of the Weekly updates, but sometimes it seems almost everyday you have meetings with figures and other companies...

US drama/TV..... I'd say Lost...but its been going downhill since the first 2 seasons. Gilmore Girls is always nice. Very much so Comfort TV lol, so much fast, witty talk lol. And lots of esseteric references. Love it. And I know its a movie, but if you haven't already, watch Cloverfield!!! It's soooooooooo awesome!!!
I spend literally ALL of what I earn, I'm crap at saving... its usually over £120, more if I've worked more.(Obviously lol)
I wish we had Hello Kitty handbags at McDee's..... but we do have funky can-shaped glass cups being given away with the large meals. I want..... at least 2 to bring with me to Uni. I almost always have nuggets. I like McNuggets. And even though I've been working there I haven't ballooned in size lol. You are on your feet the whole day I spose... so it works out ok...

"Trying to grow a Mikuru" was the cutest part XD

I don't really spend much money every month, since I save up and go on an all out shopping spree when I save enough money. And in those shopping sprees I usually spend about 3,500 pesos which is equal to 78.0205 USD, and that includes a Master Grade Gundam, some paint and art supplies, and if I find an interesting new version of the Asian or World map I tend to buy it..Asian maps are updated every now and then BTW. And maybe a game or two for the PS2 (don't ask, games are really cheap here in the Phil. XD)

And usually 50 pesos is already capable of giving you a decent meal, which is equivalent to 1 dollar

Spend on.... anything and everything per month? maybe 100-300 USD. I am glad you asked- this puts my spending needs into focus and I can analyze what my caps are- $50 for hobby stuff and $40 for food. Throw in the cost of gas and I am spending money! things should die down when I get back to school though, so I will be able to save more money rather than spend it.

today for my launch i've spend 8.50 euro. I've eat in a chinese restaurant in milan. The launch was: chinese ramen with vegetable soup, beef with chili souce and a bottle of water (50cc). Totally 8.50 euro, 1300-1400 yen c/a.
In that restaurant i was the only one that wasn't chinese, and i eat at a collective table with some chinese guy.
After i take a coffe and a tipical italian pastrie in a cake shop. This was 2 euro and 10 cent, but he didn't has the change so i pay only 2 euro

No one I know, recycles. I've even heard my friends say recycling costs too much to operate so it's not worth. The neighborhood recycling center is 5 minutes away by car but only open for a window of 1 hour per day to meet the demand, I think. It's the same timeslot, too. Maybe I should suggest to them a more flexible, yet calculable, scheduling. Occasionally, if we do end up with a hoard of plastics and a college campus is on the way somewhere, we will drop off a trunkfull.

Last week I drove 80km (50 mi) round-trip to donate/recycle some very old PCs, parts, and CRTs.

Avoiding recycling, we reuse bottles as planters for gardening or just trash it. Junk mail that comes in is used for grocery bag (trash can) lining. This is a normal for the American suburbian lifestyle.

    Too much moe Mikuru! °∆°;

I clean a figure whenever I notice much dust; once a month? I see a feather duster on your desk. I haven't yet found a cooking brush that doesn't have bristles bound by (sharp) metal... Also, that looks like what I think it is, wedged under the glass :>

That girl (Maho if I remember correctly) is from SNK Playmore's "Heart Beating Witch Trials" ("Doki Doki Majo Shinpan"). Yeah, horrible translation, but it sounds more thrilling. I don't know. It's a DS game that really uses the "touch" feature. (I really don't do this overall, but there's a pun intended.)

Generally, I spend $250, $300 a month and that's on food and transportation as well as gas. (I go to this one Japanese place near my house at least once or twice a month, but many times, I get something small over there. I also go to one of two other places.) If I go over, it's usually because I find something rare or I get a game. Starting next month, I will seriously cut my food spendings because I want to make my lunches more often.

I don't dust my figurines a lot. I do it when I have time. I will have to do some pre-fall cleaning. That's the time to clean them.

I spend a ****-load on figures per month. My spending would probably go waaaay down if I had the hookup for free figures as well as I don't buy THAT much other stuff. Sometimes I buy clothes/jewelry/handbags/makeup and I buy at least 5 mangas a month...but it would a LOT less w/o figures at $60+ each ^^;; Hopefully if you ask this next year I can say a lesser amount because I am going to be better about preorders after this year which is a lot lol

haha o_o my hubs is the one who keeps tracks on his spendings (a bit obsessively even) :P me errr (twiddle thumbs) I use to have more time to sew for my dolls/sell the sewing and I put them into my "dolly fund" but these days due to lack of time to sew my doll fund has depleted to it's all time low =_=;;; I tend to spend on doll related stuff -- hand made sewing by friends online, fabrics, an occasional random toy of choice etc. When I go to work at my friend's shop once a week, I like to have a burger lol, otherwise weekdays I usually cook dinner and pack next day for lunch (for both me and hubs) ^^ Weekend we're more likely to eat out and sometimes hang out with friends or his siblings ^^

I spend $305 on rent alone. The rest is typically spent on food and getting my stuff printed for class. (Curse you, full bleeds!) Sometimes I'll get used manga down at the used bookstore. Then again, I only just recently got into figures. . . I'm trying to keep it throttled, but who knows how much that'll change my spending habits.

Is it just me or are many of the events becoming smaller? Maybe it's me...

No real schedule when it comes to cleaning figures now. Well, they do get cleaned every two weeks if things are busy. I clean whenever I need to think and need a short distraction.

Outside of the normal household expenses most of my monthly spending goes into transportation. I eat as often as I can at home since eating out usually is no less than $15 to $20USD for me. I not big on Mickey D's here or when I'm in Japan, so that may contribute to my paying more for eating out. I do find that my wife and I spend less eating out when in Japan...

Anyhow, I probably spend from $10 to $50USD a month on hobbies. I buy magazines, CD's, new filter for a lens or such. Only once in a while is it a bigger purchase like a figure, a new lens, a couple of HDs or such. It's not about not having, but about justify the spending... Would try pennies if I had an iPod touch or iPhone. A few friend and colleagues like the app.

I looking forward to Pixie Hiyori... I know my wife will not be crazy about it, but...

Those are nice looking speakers. I'm thinking about getting a inexpensive receiver for the work area. I can connect my Macs to it as well as a satellite radio receiver. I received a paid account for Sirius with the new car and really enjoy satellite radio.

Oops, as for spending . . . I make about 1400USD/Month and live with family so I don't have to pay rent, thankfully . Car Insurance and Gas cost me about 500$ / month, my cell phone bill is 30$ / month and my tuition is 500$ / month. The rest goes to various things. I do spend a lot of money on food, maybe 50$ a week, althought I live in my parents home I am responsible for my own living expenses. I don't ususally end up saving much / any of my income, but I also don't feel that I buy very many frivolous things . . . This month I bought text books with the leftover income, and last month it was a dentist appointment. I am shocked by how little some of the people here can get by on. It makes me feel very wasteful =/

In California at least, most supermarket parking lots I've seen seems to have an automated or manned recycling booth that gives you a redeemable coupon for the adjoining supermarket. Most cities I've lived in have recycling bins and pickups for homes/buildings, but in the poorer towns I've lived in, not so much. Depends on the town's infrastructure/budget, I suppose.

I'm on an average of 250€, but some months it goes all the way up to 700€... like the load of preorders I have for september (too many great figures being released in too little time, why do they release that many in September?)
As I'm still living in my parents' house, I have no loan or rent but I have the car expenses, my clothes, computer parts (hardware geek here).
But, it's true, I spend too much money in too many unnecessary things... now I'm saving money to move to Japan while I take JLPT levels and finish my degree in Computer Science (all of these working at a local IT Consulting Company).

    My spendings go mostly on:

Prepainted Figures (PVC, Cold Cast, Resine)
Anime DVDs (stopped downloading fansubs a long time ago, I don't have time for that now).
    Nintendo DS Games
Car, Tech, Anime Magazines and Manga (H and not H)
Gas for my car, food and clothes. Also cellphone.
Some computer parts (once every 3 or 4 months).

how much money I spend on myself per month and on what?

well...as I am a student and I depend solely on my parent
I only have my monthly allowance ...around RM500
most spent on commuting, food and prepaid phone cards
the extras I just spend on leisure stuff like movies, bowling, Starbucks, etc

    Lovely Himori!

Tokyo is too hot. But, it has enough perks to overlook that, most of the time. I loved getting away to Nagano for the weekends...Too expensive now, methinks.
