You're right. "The face is done last and is the most difficult part to paint. The face is currently the same color as the putty used for sculpting and will be primed too." So the putty is greenish yellow and has not been primed... ^___^

figures with big eyes are a bonus
    i mainly like figures:
    1) which anime or manga or game that i am a fan of
    2) i have a complex for girls with big swords (but i don't really those with guns)
    3) have special feature will often make me curious to obtain them (example soft chest =p)
    4) finally i also like cute figures like nendoroids

I wouldn't worry too much about that. As you can see from Danny's photo (http://www.dannychoo.com/slide/eng/toys/20715/photo/Unity+Mei/), there is clearly a metal rod sticking out of her foot, which will give strength to the figure.

That billowing cape/skirt might have to be made from ABS though, or its unsupported weight will cause it to lean downwards. If GSC had taken the proper precautions, I think it shouldn't lean.

I'll wait to see how the painted prototype looks like, though GSC paint jobs shouldn't disappoint. Hopefully.

It doesn't matter if they have big "eyes", what matters to me is that if the figure is really good and cute, the "eyes" are just an extra. I wonder who prefer more big eyes, us westerns or the japanese, everything I see about anime and it's goodies always have two or more big eyes girls not to mention the series of Ikkitousen, Sekirei and others

The eye sizes (both pairs) of a figure should be approximate to the character it is based on, unless it's a Nendoroid.

Call me odd, but i actually prefer figures unpainted! I just love seeing all the detail on them, and you can make it out a lot better when its uncoloured.

i don't get it... are we talking about eyes or breasts (boobs, tits, whatever you like to call them ;))? if you really meant the eyes, then i don't care about their size - if we're talking about the figure's breast-size then i have to say that there has to be some kind of relation to the rest of the body. it's not always "the bigger the better" :>

    Whoa. That thing is awesome! I'm normally more drawn to articulated figures like the Figmas, but she's so cool I just might cave in and get her. ^^;

If you mean "upper" eyes, I don't care so long as the character doesn't look vapid and dazed, but avoiding that gets progressively harder the larger the eyes are.

As for "lower" eyes, again, I'm not particular, but they can't go much past what's likely and physically possible. If it tips past the physically possible range, they then shoot past "sexy" into "freakin' creepy" for me, especially if they start suffering from weird physics like volleyball boobs or that wet sandbag look. And I second Asuki in that they should be logically proportionate to the rest of the figure's physique-- no waifs with randomly gigantic implant eyes, please.

Eyes don't really matter to me,sometimes they make them out of proportion for the character, like a young girl with F-cups.Eyes are merely an add on,to get a good stare, but what really matters is the pose, paintwork, and sculpt.

As for eyes, I like big ones, but not only them (and some are even too big for me). Guess gaijin like them bigger because gaijin girls tend to have bigger ones then Japanese.

Thanks for taking these pics and the time to post them up, Danny. I'm not a great sculptor or builder, but I always find these sorts of tours inspirational. Just looking at the workspace (or the in-progress items) gives me a lot of inspiration for how I should proceed.

As for figures, I don't have a real preference for bust size- I think I look more for who the character is, and what I think of the sculpt. I really liked the look of the Max Factory Sakaki Mizuki, for example.

Where I currently am in North America, I see more preference for the more mature-looking characters at the local comic book and manga stores, which might be why bustier characters are purchased more (as the more mature looking charas tend to be a bit bustier).

If they made a Lina Inverse, however, I expect we'd see lots of North American purchases of a more flat-chested, er, well-proportioned character.

Actually, I know many people who do like big eyes, and I wouldn't say that the stereotype/generalisation is too far off the mark.

But personally, I prefer them smaller. Not flat, but shapely and pert.

    http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6618/bleachswimsuitsv8.png

Here as an example, rather than Orihime, I prefer the eyes on Soifon. Although, that's just preference I wouldn't say no to any of them, but I don't particularly collect 2D girl illustrations with big eyes.

Voted yes, as looking around my collection I do feel my favourites include mostly large eyed girls. Though that's not to say that smaller can't be very nice too. Unity Mei looks to be shaping up very nicely, I love purple too, so with that color scheme she'd be very tempting.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I always look for a fantastically sculpted figure- bust size really isn't that important. Max Factory, from what I have seen has some good stuff. When I get the money, I may try importing one of their figures. I like what I see and I like this figure. I am hard to convince to buy an expensive figure.

Big eyes? doesn't really matter. I think the poll answers that. heheh! I just want a figure that's amazingly sculpted and detailed. Same with the cast off feature really, cast off doesn't really make or break my decision in figure buying. :D

    That is a nice figure!!!

Hey Danny, just to add to your poll "Do you prefer figures with big eyes?" - to me in a figure, what i care the most is:
    1. over all - how close the figure looks like the real character...i have seen bad figures out
    there... >_<
    2. the quality of the paint/color - no misplaced colors & good color combination
    3. the small detail and how well done they are - no seams
    4. "big eyes" don’t really matter - what it is important is the pose the figure is in!HUGE PLUS
    5. if the figure doesn't come with a base... it has to be balanced(able to stand by it self)

what do you care the most in a figure that make you anxious to get it???

It doesn't matter if one cares for eroge or not. With the quality of craftsmanship and money that goes into figures like this it is obvious that eroge is where the industry is at this time.
