Hey Danny, now that I'm back in Tokyo, may I request you take me out on one of your weird Akiba adventures =___=?
I swear... in the years that I've lived here, I've not seen MANY of the more outrageous things that you post on this blog, so I'd like to experience them at least once =3.
kekeke... drop me an e-mail or someth if you're up for it! I'll be in Tokyo for the next month or so, before I head to HK for an internship so...

We have Krispy Kreme here too. They also hand out donuts piece by piece regularly, as long as the Krispy Kreme neon sign is lit up. There's also this thing wherein the very first customer of a newly opened branch gets a 1 year supply of donuts, around a dozen a week. I lurv Krispy Kreme. The best donuts out there.

Plenty of Kripsy Kreme donuts here, it's very popular even schools fund raise with them.
I love eating them. Every time we buy some I eat up to 3 or more a day... Which is not very good since it's composed of mostly sugar.
I recommend you to try some Danny, if you have a sweet tooth.

We did fund raising here in my school with Krispy Kreme also. They would sell all in the morning and get more for lunch time.

Anyway, Krispy Kreme tried to break into Canada but just didn't seem to last. Canadians are fiercely loyal to their Tim's!
I went to Krispy Kreme in Mississauga and the huge line-up was there too. But I think it was just for the novelty. People were buying 4 or 5 dozen at a time. And I liked them - they were hot and soft... but they were a little too sweet compared to the donuts we're used to here in Canada.

No Krispy Kremes in Brazil that I know of.
We do have Dunkin' Donuts in very feel places... and some big market chains usually make their own.
But I guess it didn't become popular enough in Brazil.
I usually buy mini-donuts when I go to a city that has them... which means almost once a year I get to eat some donuts. :P

I wouldn't, in my right mind (which is to say something too much, maybe) queue for plain donuts in Spain.
I did so here, just for the sake of getting rid of my personality and blending with the mass. I did it with a Japanese friend, so the chat was nice, it was "only" 30 min (a Sunday, so I guess you can cut it down even more), and we got a free yummy glass sugar-type donut by the middle of the queue. So I guess it was actually 15 min for a free donut, and another 15 for more non-free ones.
Nice experience, since the company was nice, but been there, done it, and that's quite it for me. Mr. Doughnuts is equally tasty to my inexperienced palate.

My state Massachusetts used to have some Krispy Kreme stores around. But then like around a year or two years ago, can't remember exactly when, they left this state although they are still around many other states in US. I love their original flavor donuts. I guess maybe KK can't compete with the popularity of Dunkin' Donuts in here. I mean you can see more Dunkin' Donuts in here than McDonald and BK combined. Moreover, around the Boston area, you often see some cops' cruisers parking outside those DD. Some people even joke about if you are looking for cops, go to the nearby Dunkin' Donuts and you would find one. Well, no offence to the BPD, at least they are keeping the streets around my area safe.

I detest Krispy Kreme's donuts... I seriously do not understand the hype people give to this place. When I taste them (three or four times so far, due to friends wanting to go there and myself not wanting to be a party-pooper), each time they tasted and felt dry, with only sugar/chocolate/whatever on the exterior, with the interior strongly tasting of flour. Don't get me wrong, they maintain the taste with each donut, and because of those machines they have in each KK, you're almost guarenteed to get a fresh donut. But it always taste like OLD donut to me. I prefer the Mom and Pop donut stores, they make the best and moist ones. So not only would I NOT be willing to wait in a line for a Krispy Kreme, I wouldn't want to eat at one while in Japan with lots of other options.

I remember when Krispy Kreme first opened here in Sydney, it was crazy popular, too. People lined up for it because there was only 1 or 2 shops in central Sydney but of course it was nowhere near as crazy as what I've seen in the pics in Tokyo.
Held and saw people would buy boxes of Krispy Kreme and bring them back to Melbourne as souvenirs!! It seemed pretty crazy at the time but I saw people run off the plane and buy them at the airport even! Had to try what the fuzz was all about when I went to Sydney one year and thought they were quite nice but I overdosed and ate way too many and now I can't stand them.
They are still quite popular here and there are occasionally lines since there's only a handful of them in both Sydney and Melbourne now.
However, did you guys ever see that line when the Bathing Ape Nintendo DS limited edition came out?

Not only are doughnuts popular, they are pretty much everywhere. So much so, that the idea of even a short line is ridiculous. My wife told me people are crazy about Krispy Kreme in Japan, but I'm thinking just crazy.
I think there are very few things in life I would wait for in this way and I'm having trouble thinking of examples. I did once when Windows 95 was released... that was when Microsoft was cool. (Long, long ago) Would waiting in line on the freeway be considered similar? I have done that quite a few times as well. But for doughnuts? There would have to be money inside of them... and a lot of money at that.

Donuts are quite popular snacks. I know several brands (around six), catering to a specific class bracket. Krispy Kremes serve the higher mid-higher end customers and personally, I enjoy it as much that I was delighted to find out that it finally opened a branch in manila...much more when they expanded to a mall nearby ^^;

Krispy Kreme donuts are sooo delicious! But I notice more and more people are staying away from donuts for obvious reasons. But indulging once in a while isn't so bad. Krispy Kreme!! How I hate it! Haha. Sorry to disappoint you folks.
Tried my first Krispy Kreme just bout a month back at the outlet in Shinjuku.
Amidst all the wondrous exclamations on how nice Krispy Kreme doughnuts were, I was curious, little excited and having high hopes for this legendary piece of pastry.
Surprisingly my queue wasn't long. They were distributing freshly made original glazed doughnuts to the people queueing which was a really nice act by Kripsy Kreme. First bite was good. The original glazed was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. However the doughnuts are uberly SWEET and having one was already more than enough for the day.
Me and my friends bought 2 boxes worth for the 3 of us and ended up almost vomitting and throwing away the last few cause it was just tooooo sweet. Really really. Having 2 at a time was overkill.
Sorry if I offended or disappointed anyone. All these are in my own opinion. Maybe it was cold so they decided to add more sugar?

I wondered about the poll questions involving "your region". Aren't they kind of pointless as "your region" isn't the same for everybody so we are actually answering different questions and discarding the information what we consider "your region" when we see the results.
It would actually be interesting to see the results of those polls for each country (an information that can always be read from the IP).
As far as donuts go I don't even know anybody eating them in "My region". Now how useful is that info by itself ;)

I've seen the crazy line at Krispy Kreme at Shinjuku numerous times and it amazes me the huge popularity of KK in Japan. We have three Krispy Kreme stores in my area alone so I'm not too krazy about it but do like their sweet donuts.
Their donut is super sweet due to their cream coating and it's okay to eat 2-3 of them, you just can't eat them too much. I suggest you to try some when you have time but I don't think it's that great to wait for 2 hours to just try some... In Southern California most of the Krispy Kreme locations were shut down for business. About more than half of the Krispy Kreme donut shops lost a lot of money when customers stop going in and started the whole low carb diet, which killed Krispy Kreme's profits.
Krispy Kreme donuts are really bad for you. In America anyway.
The only Krispy Kreme donut shop i can think of that is still open for business around here is the Crenshaw District location across the Baldwin Hills Mall in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles.
The other way you can still enjoy Krispy Kreme donuts is if you pick up a fresh box at a local market like Food 4 Less in L.A. Most Food 4 Less Markets in L.A. stock Krispy Kreme donuts.

Krispy Kreme recently joined forces with Tesco's supermarket, and built their donut outlet in my local store. I like their products but not enough variety in the ones I like, I prefer cinnabon.

Delicous, it's a pretty common " snack " here in Sweden. At least, I think so. ^^;

krispy kremes are only good when they are still hot, when they are cold they're the same as any other yeast donut. dont eat more than one at a time unless you have an iron stomach. i havent had one in years, and rather not waste calories on it.

If people tried to do such a queue to get a simple doughnut in my country, some guards would be needed to make people respect other's turns :S

One thing that amazed me about the Shinkuku branch is that it's still got legs 18 months after opening, which must be something of a record as far as food-related fads are concerned - when Burger King reopened demand seemed to ebb away quite quickly.
I was in Australia last week: no queues at branches over there, in fact the only customers seemed to be Japanese taking photos. They were probably staggered at how quiet it was!

Personally I can't understand how can people stand hours for some doughnuts. Is it really so popular? It's only food, and there are more delicious foods in Japan then that. Well, maybe they're really delicious, can't say because never tried Krispy Kreme doughnuts. We have doughnuts here too. But they're just common. I don't really like them, I prefer the vanilla rods. They're really yummy. ^^ Anyway, that queue is really long, it must be popular, or they had a little free time. XD

I've tried krispy kreme before but didn't like it. It was just too sweet for me.
Japanese people sure do like to line up. You won't find that kind of line around here for krispy kreme. heheh.

Canada consumes the most doughnuts per capita of any country in the world, so yes, it is a very popular snack up here. Also probably explains some of our weight problems. The most popular doughnut store chain is Tim Hortens, which some people seem to attend religiously, and is only really popular in Canada.

Spent 3 years living in British Colombia as student. Good people, good beer, great snow, loved it.
But I never understood the Tim Hortons phenomenon. Stale dougnut 'holes' and convience store quality coffee...
Must be a national identity thing.

They opened an In and Out Burger, and a Krispy Cream shop simultaneously in a suburb of San Francisco. Conveniently located right next to hospital to resuscitate your fat ass after the inevitable increase in heart attacks.
krispy kreme is pretty popular in my part of town. it has become more accessible because there are now more stores open and they are stategically located. their donuts are okay. it's a little on the sweet side. worth trying... even once.

Just went to one in MyeongDong Seoul branch(Yes there are several in Korea), short queue but they give out a warm soft Sugar Glazed Donut every time you queue up to order, to the side of the sales counter you can see a mini doughnut production line making them doughnuts right there n there...

Krispy Kreme used to be popular in California. I remember when they first came back and everyone wanted to eat them. They were akin to Starbucks; if you were going to eat doughnuts it had to be Krispy Kreme. Lately, I don't see that many any more and a number of them have actually closed shop.
You just have to try their glaze doughnuts. I'm not a big fan of doughnuts, but their glaze is absolutely to die for.

Ive wondered whats the deal with the Shinjuku Krisy Kreme. Everytime i pass there ... there's a huge queue. I don't get it D: are they THAT good ? I feel almost tempted to get in line too to see what all the hype is about

We also have a Krispy Kreme branch here. We also have a lot of Donut shops here namely Dunkin' Donuts, Mister Donut, Go Nuts Donuts and Hot Loops.
I'm not much of a fan of Krispy Kreme here but their donuts is good but I might not eat it too frequently...too sweet for my taste.
And yeah, Krispy Kreme here also had this gimmick. If you are one of the 100 first customers to buy at a newly opened branch, you'll get a 1 year supply of Krispy Kreme donuts.

Since it seems like waiting in line is everyone's favorite pasttime here, I can see the popularity.

Good, but very sweet. Processed donuts at their best...different from hand made donuts in mom and pop stores.
I went to a Krispy Kreme in Hong Kong, much of the same stuff as the ones here in America. Popular there too...had a line when I went and when I left the line was still there.

Ugh, Krispy Kremes are really gross. D:

Wow so many wanting Krispy kreme!.
I always thought they were some of the worst donuts, the ones you buy in 7/11 ones being the worst.
Maybe they have changed recently, I must try again.

Krispy Kreme has yet to invade our shores, however, i think the doughnut craze has ended here. No longer are there any lines outside misdo OR dunkin'. We are fickle eaters, yes we are =p

Wonder why no Krispy in Singapore...nearest one is in Indonesia...although you can see alot of home grown doughnut outlets here....

oh krispy kreme making people fatter one doughnut at a time.
i remember the huge line ups we had when they first opened in BC...now i don't see many people go there...maybe because its out in the middle of nowhere. not worth the drive when the tim hortons is a hop and skip away.

To me it doesn't matter what brand it is, as long as it has chocolate frosting.

Standing in line for 2 hours for doughnuts? One can make so much doughnut in 2 hours that it will be enough for a week! (Doughnuts rock btw.)
