That's interesting, I started watching Gundam and actually lovin' the series when I started watching Gundam Wing. After that series, and the movie "Endless Waltz"(Which I have a Gundam Wing figure on top of my TV) I've never watched any other Gundam series.

Well, there was this one time I watched Gundam G in english, but never got into it...

grew up watching gundam wing, and because i liked it so much, i decided to watch all the other gundam series. i liked them all except for turn A, which had the worst gundam design in the history of gundam. its hard to pick just one out of them all. i think its a threeway tie between stardust memory, gyakushu no char and gundam wing for me. as for the gundams, its another tie between the wing zero custom from endless waltz and strike freedom from seed destiny.

To me Gundam Wing, Seed and Seed Destiny were by far the worst. Seed reused and reused it's animation and tried to modernize the first Gundam series but failed to do so.

I loved Gundam Wing, it was the first Gundam I ever watched and still rewatching today. 08th MS Team I like along with Zeta, and Turn A. I don't get why people don't like Turn A, it has a great unique design among its mobile suits. The storyline is great better than all the Gundam series where it's just plainly race vs race, etcc...

I like the original Gundam timeline. That includes the 08th MS and the Stardust Memory. I ready don’t like the Zeta Gundam. It has too much transformable mobile suits. The Double Zeta Gundam never shows in the U.S. A lot of Gundam fans in the U.S. like the Gundam Wing, because it is the first Gundam shown in the U.S. For me, the series is okay.

To everybody who has never watched Turn A and everybody who watched Turn A and didn't vote for it, SHAME ON YOU!!
Seriously, Turn A is like the best gundam series ever! Yes, I do realize that they also have the ugliest mobile suit designs ever, but the series is individualistic, was the last series that was animated by hand drawn cels, and was the last one directed by the original director. If you didn't like it, you deserve to go to hell, and if you didn't watch it, you deserve to the next thing from hell unless you watch it before you die.

Seriously, Turn A is godlike among Gundam! The plot is so good!~

It's hard to decide since I haven't watched many Gundam series and still watching Zeta. Anyway...my first of Gundam was with Gundam Wing (only a couple episodes) and then I got the Endless Waltz movie which got me completely hooked into Gundam.

The series that I watched from the beginning was Gundam Seed which I loved it, but then after watching Stardust Memory and 08th MS Team I turned down Gundam Seed mostly because the characters cried so much and Stardust Memory rocks especially with the second intro ^^ Men of Destiny and I love all of those Gundam, I hope they remake their master grades into better versions

Loved Wing and S Destiny the most because all the other series had wimpy gundam pilots. Kira and Athrun matured in the 2nd series, so I gave them that. I watched 0083 a short while ago, and it was okay, but Uraki just plain sucks. Best designs lie with Endless Waltz and Destiny for the fast pace and overpowered designs.

So far I have covered all the series except Turn A. Couldn't get my hands on it. But for my opinion for now, I agree that 0083 stardust memory is one of the important series in the timeline of UC. But for the best gundam series ever, I will opt for MS Igloo althought it has nothing to do with gundams, more on the Zeon side. The story is depicts the other side of the 1 year war. I will say it is written very well and very tragic as well.

Gundam Wing was the series that got me into the Gundam Universe and is my all time fav Gundam series. I had a slight problem with EW but I still loved it. I also really like The 08th MS Team, short series but I liked it. I haven't seen X (want to), or Turn A(just curious) but I would like to just to see what's up with them. My number 1 is gundam 08MS, simply because it the most true to life gundam series. there no undead ultimate gundam that could take unlimited hit from enemy, and their one hit kill crap. I like 08 MS story line too. Number 2 could be Stardust memory. Best gundam design will go for gundam seed destiny, love Zaku warrior design. By the way don't ask me about gundam 00 since I don't want to hurt the feeling of the staff who work hard on it.

Danny, Thanks for the tutorial, I read it a while back and it introduced me to your site. Since then I have moved on to building many models, kit bashing, and scratch building. Im turning a Red Frame Astray into a Raysta. Its a little known mobile suit, but I wanted to go with something different.

I was introduced into Gundam with Gundam Wing, and have loved it even before that. Although I had never seen an OVA. My favorite is 08th MS Team, just very realistic. I dont like the Gundams being god-like. I like them having faults, just like the pilots.

I think you'll find that most American fans are going to be going with Wing or 08th MS, simply because Wing was the first major exposure the US had to Gundam, and I'm fairly certain 08th MS was the second. (Both were airing on cable television while I was in middle school).

I never really got into Wing, but I loved every second of 08th MS, probably because it's pretty much Wing's exact opposite in terms of just what Gundam is.

I find it strange that people actually voted 08th MS team! (I did, its my absolute favorite Gundam series ever.)

The reason I find it weird is because all "Gundam Fans" around here (My town) only talk about Seed and all the other series with ultimate ace pilots etc. I guess I'm more into down to earth mecha animes than hyper-super-untouchable-uber pilot ones. Don't get me wrong, I loved Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz, but Seed I could not get into.

Gundam 00 on the other hand is more rational when it comes to skill levels etc of the Meisters.

I think the problem with rating things like Gundam shows is that, you really don't have a choice.

Think about it, the best would always be teh original since without it, you wouldn't have any other shows to even start comparing with.

If we don't take that into account with however, then my choice would probably still be the first Gundam since it set the tone for many more Gundam series and other mecha anime's to come.

My problem with giving an accurate decision as to my fav Gundam series is that I haven't watched them all 0_0 Over here unless you've got a fast internet connection to download torrents, or buy "casual copy" DVD's you'll never be able to see 1/8 of the Gundam series out there. Which is funny because we're right next door to Japan so to speak, and we have a 24 hour Anime Channel, Animax.

I've only ever seen Seed, Seed Destiny, Wing, Endless Waltz and 08th MS. And Wing and Waltz I saw when I was in Vancouver, and 08th MS when I was visiting my uncle in New York! But overall, 08th MS was what made the best impression on me. It was more down to earth, and the characters were likable. I didn't see all of the series but from what I remember the characters weren't as convoluted as Seed or Destiny.

08th MS Team is on the top of my list followed by Stardust Memories.

I'd give Turn A a chance for the story and it's different take on the Gundam design. Yes it has a mustache, but I give much respect to it's designer Sydney Mead of Blade Runner (and his influence to anime).

...and I am starting to like 00 (so sue me!) I'm loving the non-traditional take on the mobile suits.

2nd and 3rd would probably be the original and then CCA.

With the exception of G Saviour (Which I refuse to watch), I've seen every Gundam so far, well 00 is airing right now. I first started out with Gundam Wing, and in retrospect, the story sucked pretty hard, though it had some awesome suit designs and was fun watching when I was 12 for the explosions.

To everyone ragging on Turn A, give it another chance. Ignore the mecha design's if you have to, but its great in all aspects (Suit designs grew on me a lot, and Turn A is one of my favorite suits now). Animation quality is extremely good for a 50+ episode series, with little to no reused battle scenes (seed anyone? not ragging on it but using as example), a wide range of well developed characters (well, maybe not the space hippies, but they served a purpose too), and one of the BEST stories I've seen in Gundam. And the music! God the music is so fitting in the series, from dainty everyday life to intense DOOM scenes. Yoko Kanno did a great job, and the entire series is worth watching for the epilogue scenes and music ALONE. In its heart it is a true Gundam series where: War is bad and affects lots of people, but instead of killing everyone, it tries to show hope for humanity. There is also no distinct BAD side, just people fighting for their own reasons, and people can change the reasons why they do things. Also, politics.

G Gundam was great for what it was. Don't take it seriously when watching it, as its more of a Super Robot show than Real Robot. Keep that in mind, and you'll have fun. I watched it again in college and loved it, did a Domon cosplay as a result.

If someone doesn't watch the original Gundam because of dated animation, I can understand that seeing as we nowadays are spoiled with good quality animation. But if you decide you "Hate" a show because you don't like the way it looks, especially a more recent show with good quality, then I say don't judge a book by its cover. Watch more than the first episode before coming to judgment, like 10 episodes.

I'd write my opinion for every Gundam show I've seen so far, but I've got an essay. Maybe next time.

PS 08MS team was great too, 0080 fantastic, Zeta was a good UC show as was Original movies, as is Char's Counterattack.

ZZ is skippable, V is good but depressing, X is average. Seed is not bad by itself, but combined with Destiny it went VERY downhill.

Gundam Wing was what got me started into Gundam.

I just absolutely loved the Wing Gundam, and Deathsythe.

Anywho, I haven't really watched all the series so I don't think my opinion counts for much, but from the ones I have watched I like them best in this order:

      -Gundam Wing
      -Gundam Seed
      -08Th
      -00
      -Destiny

I absolutely loved Gundam Seed, which was actually done quite well, but I hated Gundam Seed Destiny. They just made all the returning characters look like retards and the new characters were all retards to begin with.

For anyone who doesn't already have it, get Rengou Vs Zaft II Plus. It's probably one of the best Gundam fight games ever created. It actually makes sense to play and you're not wandering around in space!

    @Dragun:

I used to hate Turn A myself, you know? Then my curiosity got the better of me and lo & behold, it turns out to be a masterpiece. No stock footages, interesting characters and great references to the previous Gundams. Oh and with the uber awesomeness of Yohko Kanno's music too.

People hated it just because of its moustache and too little Gundam action. I love it because of the same reason. Wing is overrated, Seed is crap :p

However, 00 is taking my #1 spot right now.

My gundam knowledge is really at my wits end. I only picked up gundam a few years back, which started from Gundam Seed. I think I saw an advertisement or trailer of it on the TV which caught my interest.

I really missed out all the previous and older series, hope one day I'll be able to see them. So from now on, I'm following all the upcoming series.

I don't dislike any gundam series considering that I've only watched a few. Guess my fave would be Gundam Seed, Freedom is the one which captivated me X3

My favorite Gundam anime is Seed/Destiny and 1st (I include in "1st" Zeta, ZZ, 0083, 0080, etc etc). My first gundam series was sadly enough Wing, and I HATE Wing and G with a passion. Am currently working my way through X and Turn A, and need to watch ZZ soonish too.

I may be in the minority for having the Seed universe as my favorite, and it probably is for one reason: the music. My favorite scenes that I can watch over and over again are when Freedom makes it's debut (that song is AWESOME), and when Akatsuki is revealed (in the Japanese release anyway; the US DVDs didn't have that song sadly enough). Those are the 2 I remember right off-hand; I know there's a ton others I like.

Seed is pretty good for newage Gundam fans.

Mobile Suit Gundam still is the overall best, but personally, Wing is right up there because of its great characters (especially the villains) and the boy heroes and great action.

0083 was nice, but too short and its endgame didn't make much sense.

MS08 was nice too, but another short series.

Zircor, I definitely agree with the music in Seed. From OP to ED to the epic background music, I'd say only Gundam Wing , MSG and Turn A was any competition in terms of having some of the most memorable music. But Seed shows definitely had the most comprehensive and appropriate OST of all Gundam canon IMO.

wildarm: I refuse to believe that 00 is bad. I mean, first off, it's only been 10 episode. Second, I think the story is original enough to warrant it interesting.

If you make fun of SEED, go ahead... I like the unit design (especially the strike pack...), but story and character sucks...

so I got into gundam, I don't know... I saw my friend have a Gunpla of the V Gundam series, so I started gunpla first. I frequently go to Japan, but not long enough to finish a series. So I get a glimpse of what I watch, but don't know what's going on. So that makes my first Gundam Series to complete as SEED, which is really sad in my opinion...

Ah, G-Gundam for me. Grew up with Super Robot sensibilities (childhood heroes were Daimos, Voltes V, and Mazinger Z), and G is as fun to watch as any of them. After sitting through Wing and its ridiculously convoluted plots and being forcefed hackneyed morals (War of the pacifists? Please.), G was a refreshing change of pace. And fun to watch too.

Worst for me has to be Destiny and Wing. The former because it was totally unoriginal in its plot twists (granted every other Gundam show has its masked men and pscycho girls, this was a pain to watch because you could they were coming 5 episodes ahead). The latter I've already more or less outlined, along with the fact that it's so bloody over-rated by fanboys around the world (much in the same way FF7 is, which could have been left unsaid).

I apologize for the rant, but I spent 4 years of high school hanging out with a guy who thought blowing up your mech and yourself was bravest thing you could ever do.

But, in the end, opinions don't matter on the net.

Of the ones I've seen, Zeta, 0083 and 08th MS Team are probably my favourites. Char's Counterattack is good, as is F91. Honourable mention to Victory. Of the non-UC series, Seed was ok, Seed Destiny was a let-down, Wing was god-awful, and Turn A was beautiful, but it didn't draw me into the story for some reason. As a mech series it's great, but doesn't feel like Gundam. I think the winner has to be Zeta overall.

For a long time I wanted to know what Gundam was, but it was impossible to find anything decent in specialist shops. I know, I know, Japan's most popular mech series never got to an anime-crazed South America (they aired Gundam Wing after I left). Sigh...

So yeah, I watched some Gundam Wing and got myself some Gunpla, first Wing kits then the MG Zaku-II. I then discovered the Gundam 0079 manga by Kasuhisa Kondo.I started really getting into the deep sci-fi setting of the Universal Century. Soon after I watched the movie trilogy of 0079, loved it, moved on to Zeta Gundam, really loved it, etc...

So far, I have seen a lot of Gundam, but I still have a lot to see. I never finished watching X or Victory, nor did I ever finish Wing or even start G Gundam or SEED Destiny. But I am not a completist. I really want to watch G, as I love Shounen-style fighting anime.

I did, however, watch Turn A Gundam and I absolutely love it. Turn A Gundam is basically Tomino doing whatever he damn well pleases with the franchise, pissing off traditionalists all the way through. But if you're not orthodox, and you're willing to give Turn A the benefit of the doubt, it is indeed one of the best Gundam series out there, even if it is so un-Gundam-like. And the Turn A is simply beautiful. Oh and the music, ohooooooo boy. So so good.

Oh and I don't understand how you can like 0083 so much! The mecha designs and battles are really good, as well as the scenario, but the characters are really really uninteresting and bland!

At any rate, my favourite Gundam, so far:

    1. Turn A Gundam
    2. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
    3. Mobile Suit Gundam
    4. MS Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
    5. Gundam: Char's Counterattack

Argh, why do you have to come up with this poll, Danny? Now I'm starting to drool over that MG Titans Gundam Mk.II again!

0080 I think is the most beautiful story-wise, maybe a bit too sad for its own good, because everytime I watch it again my heart would always sink.

08th MS Team is next, I love it because the hero is not a newtype yet he can manage very well using teamwork and strategy. And compared to pilots from other series, he's the most mature and positive.

I haven't seen Saviour, G, V, X, Turn A, Destiny or 00, so until now the worst for me is Wing. It's just a rehash of the whole UC timeline to me.

God, enough with the silly putdowns.

Barsona, you say Seed wasn't representative of modern Gundam shows, but it clearly was since it was intended to re-make MSG for modern audiences. And no surprise, a lot of new Gundam fans (or even like me, who watched MSG and many UC shows in ORIGINAL SYNDICATION) liked it.

I can understand people having biases to the shows, but almost all Gundam shows are made well enough to be enjoyable.

I have a low opinion on Zeta for its really bad writing, but I admit I was entertained. Gundam X felt a bit off kelter because of its writing too, but I watched through it too. I have a really bad opinion on G Gundam, but I won't bash anyone who may like it.

I can understand people getting turned off by the melodrama in Seed and the blatant homosexuality/fangirl-baiting in Wing.

But I think we can all agree they all are made well for those inclined to the differing taste each show brings. None of them are intrinsically badly made.... maybe except for ZZ..

My first gundam show was wing, which I rate pretty low simply because it didn't make sense much of the time. I understood the underlying theme but the dialogue was nonsense (treize and his loser speech comes to mind). ZZ had a very very poor start but improved by the end but the majority of my scorn goes to Seed Destiny. By far the worst gundam show I have seen (and I have seen them all), it was painful watching is go into freefall, esp since I thought Seed was pretty decent. I understand the hate for destiny but I really don't know where the scorn for seed comes from. It really was fairly solid, if unoriginal. Not Great but a good introduction to the world of gundam before going into the heavier stuff.

Wing was the one that got me started on the whole giant robot thing; that was over 9 years ago ever since i watched it on Singaporean television. Circumstances didn't allow me to finish it though T_T

Gundam X was the one series I really liked. I didn't watch the original UC, but reading posts by the older members and other stuff enlightened me as to why they called X the polar opposite of UC. You can apply SEED to here as well; if both ZAFT and the Earth Alliance had lasered and bombed each other into oblivion, something like X would have occured.

G Gundam simply didn't attract me. Never really was a fan of giant mechas with powers beyond science.

I couldn't even find videos of Turn-A on the net.

SEED and SEED Destiny gave the younger generation people a glimsp of the glory and splendour of the UC series, or that's what I see people saying on many anime forums. It was fun while it lasted but I'm sure the emo wasn't as much in UC.

I'm looking forward to the 00 series.

although SEED did introduce non hardcore mecha people into gundam, I still think the story sucked ass (especially how strong Kira is, and how he survives virutaly anything). I will admit that SEED had potential to be a good series, but Destiny did not (actually, the first ten episode of Destiny wasn't that bad... But when "Neo" appeared, I thought wtf, omg, how did he survive..." And virtually, it was a down hill spiral from that point. Especially the switch made in the middle from Shinn to Kira). And when I think of SEED, I HAVE TO also consider how bad Destiny was.

IMO, Zeta wasn't that badly written... I mean, it's harder to understand it if you don't know the OYW stuff.

X supposedly, according to some Gundam fans, was a great series, other than the fact that it was cut down.

I love most things Gundam and I have seen almost all of the different series. (I'm finishing V Gundam and Turn A Gundam currently)then I'll be finished.

I have to say that my favorite is 08th MS Team. It was the first one I ever watched, and I'll always love it. 0083 was the second one that I watched... and after watching those two back to back, I got hooked. I've been watching and building ever since.

I have to say though... aside from one or two VERY awesome gundam designs... G Gundam was pretty bad. I mean c'mon, there was a Gundam shaped like a windmill and one that looked like a Gundam in a fish costume. Oh yeah... and the story was bad too.

for me it has to be Wing, probably cos thats the one i watched first. im currently watching SEED, but i have to say i liked the story in Wing so much better. SEED story tries to delve to much in the "kira facing big dilemma and saving the world" kind of things. it is still a gd series though. the designs in wing were better, especially the endless waltz versions. Wing Zero custom from endless waltz has to be my fave design, then deathscythe hell custom from endless waltz.

You know when the polls are skewed with less appreciation for the classics when 08th MS and Wing are the seed favorites.

I'm honestly (and positively) surprised that Wing is greater than Seed according to the votes on the poll. There is hope.

My first introduction to the Gundam franchise was the movie version for 0079. It still remains strong and quite nostalgic, thus it is my number one pick. However Zeta is just as strong if not more so it remains a very close second to the original.

First one was Gundam Wing, saw it many years ago in TV and I liked it very much, next was SEED and it's one of my favourite(too bad Destiny sucked hard), but in first place I think is Chars Countera Attack, next 0079, Turn A/SEED/Zeta, 0080, 0083, 08th MS Team, F91, Victory, Igloo, G Gundam, EW, Gundam X, Wing. And the worst is ZZ and Destiny.
Recently watched Wing once again, after seeing all Gundam series it wasn't as good as the first time, but it wasn't soo bad as other tells, I was just litle bored :)

I didn't have a problem with the core story and though Kira was invincible physically, his mind really wasn't. I thought that was the most intriguing part compared to someone like Amuro just acting like a jerk through it even more than Kira ever did. Maybe it's because I like the prodigy archetype characters.

Also, the thing with Zeta was that it felt like Tomino was drunk while writing it. Char and Amuro and others literally RAMBLING at times and it was just weird. Like I said, though, it was fun if at least because we saw old faces and some cool new ones like Scirocco

Well, right, but you have to remmeber, Tomino wanted the conflict in Zeta to be more of a political situation and a far broader scale. In 0079, you learn of the War as a sort of side effect to the characters being involved, but in Zeta, its the other way around. Granted that Zeta is far more dark than 0079, but I think when you mention the "rambling", that was just Tomino's way of getting the whole picture across to the viewer.

Like many American Gundam fans, I was first introduced to the Gundam franchise through Mobile Suit Gundam Wing when it aired on Cartoon Network. From then I was able to watch other series/movies when they came out on US DVD such as Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, the first Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Couterattack.

To be honest, after watching stuff like 0083 (MS designs were awesome, but the characters are some of the worst in Gundam IMHO) and 0080 (always manages to put me to sleep) I was actually kinda bored with the whole UC, Federation vs. Zeon thing, and Gundam as a whole. About that time, bittorrent was just getting up and running, and I heard of a new series called Gundam SEED starting in Japan. I checked it out, and it quickly became my all-time favorite Gundam series. Kira, Lacus and Freedom Gundam remain my favorite male character, female character and Gundam design. It's sequel was a tad disappointing, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit (Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice alone made Destiny worth it for me).

Once DLing anime picked up speed, I was able to get ahold of every other series I hadn't watched previously (Zeta, ZZ, F91, Victory, X, Turn-A, and now 00), but none could overtake SEED as my favorite.

    My Current Favorite Series List:
    01. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (Series & Special Editions)
    02. Mobile Fighter G Gundam
    03. Mobile Suit Gundam
    04. Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
    05. Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
    06. Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (Series & Miller's Report)
    07. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (Series & A New Translation I-III)
    08. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY (Series, Final Plus & Special Editions)
    09. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
    10. After War Gundam X
    11. Mobile Suit Gundam F91
    12. Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
    13. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OVA & Movie)
    14. Turn A Gundam
    15. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73 STARGAZER
    16. Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
    17. Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO (The Hidden One Year War & Apocalypse 0079)

Well, 9 years ago, SRW 3Alpha on the original gameboy took my gundam virginity. It was the best game i've ever played on gameboy. After that, I got hold on every single SRW games on gameboy/color/advanced. My first gundam series was the 0079. Then Wing, 08ms, wing, 0080, 0083, F-91...I was really big on F-91 for a while. I think the only series I haven't watched was Turn A, dunno why... I am not really big fan of wing and seed series, characters are too dramatic (seems like 00 is going to get really dramatic too). In contrary, characters in 08ms are more "normal" you can actually see character influence and development through the short series. oh god, i can really start to write an essay on this ^^

I personally chanced upon Gundam when I was merely five years old, first series that I watched was Gundam Wing, didnt liked it though. Was glued to the UC (Universal Century) timeline after watching Char's Counterattack and 08th MS Team, 0083 Startdust Memory, and 0080 War in the pocket. Those have become my favourites till now.

The reason why preferred the UC more than any other series in the Gundam multiverse is because I felt that UC is more realistic and connected to the real life, it has just the right amount of fantasy and reality in it.

Apparently, I also felt that the Gundam animes from the UC timeline have done a really great job of expressing the sadness and crudeness of war that not many other Gundam series have done.

Started with Gundam Wing first. It was pretty "meh" IMO, but it kickstarted the Gundam addiction. As soon as I got broadband, I quickly picked up on BitTorrent and from this point on, I was exposed to better Gundam animes. Couldn't really decide which one's the best between Zeta Gundam and Gundam 0083. Overall, I personally think Gundam animes based on the Universal Century timeline is superior compared to spinoff timelines.

Wow. Talk about a trip down memory lane (and in the case of 0079, a embarrassing one). Watching all of these openings sure brings back memories. Especially of 0083: Stardust Memories and 8thMS Team, the two Gundam series that I actively watched (as opposed to 0079, which I watched as a kid on TV since it was cartoons). Gundam sure has come a long way as a franchise. Wish I could say the same for Macross...

And NOW!! The most absurd thing you'll hear among these comments!
DESTINY GUNDAM RULEZ!! No, not Gundam Seed Destiny the series but the Gundam itself (though I've been complaining the creators didn't put much thought into creating Destiny Gundam as in Strike Freedom, Infinity Justice, Akatsuki).

Since it's practically the only series I've watch, I can't comment on the other series. The Gundam that sparks my interest would be Sword Impulse Gundam, because when I saw Strike Gundam, I thought it look ugly until I met Impulse.
And that's where I started liking Shinn and his Gundams.

That's why I have to admit the story is terrible. Shinn becomes the bad guy? The ending is so like Seed (well, I did research a bit though I didn't watch it)? Kira (as mentioned before) is indestructible? How many times have Kira's gundam being destroyed and still he comes back with more firepower and with the 'I'm-always-right' attitude? Even though I supported Shinn, even Athrun is more acceptable than Kira.

Good storyline, a lot of good MS (in term of appearance).

SEED and Destiny for their MS (only for their MS)

Waiting for 00 and Unicorn.. Hope they will be good.

Like almost everyone else it seems, my first exposure to Gundam was Wing. I got hooked pretty bad, especially on the model kits, and things just snowballed from there. I've since seen everything except the SD stuff, and 08th Team edges out Zeta as my favorite. UC stuff in general I get into a lot more than the alt universe material. As for my least favorite, the Seed movies rank right up there as the some of the most terrible crap I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. While I liked both Seed and Destiny well enough (they're my favorite alt-uni series by far), the "special ed"-ition (of Seed at least) was so rushed and convoluted and, well, just mind-numbingly BAD. Can't put it more succinctly than that.

Currently: watching 00 (and liking it) and wishing the US Igloo DVDs weren't hilariously overpriced. Bandai Visual USA FTL.

First Gundam series I saw was the Gundam Wing Movie. I liked it but I didn't know it had any model kits. But that was back when I was little with no money. Then my friend was talking about Gundam Seed a year and a half ago, he said it was good. So I watched it and was hooked. So I ended up buying MG Freedom as my first Gundam. My friend said Gundam Seed Destiny was the worst Gundam Anime he has ever seen. But I wanted to know what happened to all the characters in the Seed Series. So I watched it, and I guess it was ok...

But after that I bought MG Aile Strike. Which I completed Freedom and Strike about half a year ago. Right now I'm just about finished inking Strike. I don't want to ink Freedom yet until my skill levels up. But right now Strike looks ok..., ^-^V

Oh yeah, I found this site a few times before a long time ago. Usually looking for Henta.., but a few days ago I was looking for a Gundam Modeler Tutorial and came across this site again. I was reading through this site, and it was really intresting, so I joined, =)

    Keep Up The Great Work!!

I saw Endless Waltz first before I knew anything about Gundam. I thought it was great so I rented all of the Gundam Wing episodes at Tsutaya and watched them all in Japanese almost up until the end. But I have to say that I like the first Gundam better because the pace is much faster and important people actually get killed in a believable way. The first Gundam captures a real war better than the rest in my opinion.

O8th MS is definitely great and so is Stardust Memory. I watched Zeta a few times, but it was too cheesy for me. I want to see Char's Counterattack and watch the first Gundam over again when I have the chance. I have no idea how Seed is, but it looks obnoxious. I can't really judge it though until I try it.....

08th M.S. Team all the way. Because it has the most warfare combat on earth. Literally, like authentic jungle hunts. And not to mention, the main hero loses a leg, where as in most other series, the hero just loses his dignity or something.
As for series where almost everyone important dies..I'd say...Z gundam or V gundam

Stardust Memory made the first and the most impact of all the Gundam series. After that most of the series felt like a rehash of one another - almost like a copy perhaps. I like hope Gundam 00 is - concise, brutual and to-the-point. You never know who is next to be erased! I would actually recommend 00 as a starter. It's actually quite realistic IMO.

watched gundam w, x, and g as a child, loved w and x. wasnt really into g, but my favourite series so far is the 8th MS Team. It was the closest portrayal of gundam to real life, with mobile suits acting like man made machines. Not to mention the human side of the story was great. favorite ms will be the strike from seed. dont know why, but something about the strike appeals to me. really dont like overpowered ms thats unstoppable (cough*strike freedom*cough)

I started on V Gundam when I was 6 and got dragged into Wing. And the first model I had was the MG Char's Zaku at 8.
Gotta say that Seed and Seed Destiny was complete crap though. Stock animation worse than super robot shows, a stolen plotline from the original Gundam and horrid animation style to boot :/

Too bad that 8th MS Team and Stardust were the last really great Gundam series. Everything after, the animation quality lagged a couple years behind and the story became so bland and predictable. Even Zeta had a realy dark subplot that held depth. Too bad that all Bandai is concerned about now is selling things, they've removed story content for prettyboy characters.

    3. Gundam Seed Destiny
    4. Gundam 00
    5. Gundam Wing
    6. Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory
    7. The first Gundam - Amuro Ray

My favorite is Gundam Seed and Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory.

I don't like to critic about any other Gundam series as I believed they have their own unique fan base and no matter how positive or negative our view is, all those shows have help to continue the legacy of Gundam and GunPla.

Everybody have their own favorite and it's not wrong either to dislike 1 or 2 of them, after all we are human but Gundam is always Gundam.

SUCKS ! 08TH MS is at the top of the list cause for a series so short i don't see how...i smell cheating.

Gundam Wing was the best and most watched, time line was familiar to ours, the characters were more developed and it was the most intellect out of all, 08thms empathized mainly one one character and had a Vietnam approach and Seed/Destiny was filled with senseless violence and cry babies which catered more to the new generation of kids who just wants to see cool looking Gundams with over the top action and drama.

Speaking from personal experience as 3 year Vet in Iraq i think G Wing was the closest to depicting how wars are truly started...corruption, if you pay close attention to the leader figures you'll get exactly what I'm trying to say.
As for animation it was good for it's time and again it had an intercultural approach with English voice overs were every Character had it's own voice actor backed by a decent script, i can't confirm for sure but i heard this was the only G series which had a higher than avarage budget for the US release.

Even the enemy were likable in this series and a remastered was release not too long ago with updated audio and animation, once you've got a remastered you know it was a good serise, i recommend a watch.
My favorite Character/Gundam is still to this date, Chang Wufei/Shenlong.

-Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket
    -Gundam 08M.S. Team

All the rest of the Gundam series' are a disappointment. To much 3D and lame kids as main characters. The suits aren't pleasant to look at either. I'm not a fan of the new-type scenario's either....don't get me wrong, there are some characters and suits from other series that are great! Like Lacus....oh my, she's a cup cake =]
