I tried Kentucky when I was in Japan. Tastes pretty much the same to me except that their fries are really good.

Didn't had a chance to try the new product they had but we had a similar product a few months back as well.

KFC is extremely popular here in the states. As far as taste, I haven't tried them since they changed their recipe, but it used to be pretty good. It's just extremely greasy.

I heard they tried to change their name to Kitchen Fried Chicken in the states, but it didnt happen. I personally dont eat fast food, but there are a bunch of them out here. Maybe you just missed them in L.A. Danny? In the US they have a problem with rats being attracted to the batter for the chicken. Enjoy!

Never tried it in Japan yet, but the menu does seem more appealing.
In Australia the stuffs great but you feel like a beached whale after with the cholesterol just sitting in your stomach!
As kids we used to call it Kentucky Fried Cat :)

Anyone remember years ago when the 'secret' recipe was found in a old chest of drawers that were sold. There was a huge court battle on trying to keep it from being used. In USA of course

I prefer Popeyes over KFC, the chicken has more flavor and I think less greasy. Plus I can get some southern adaptation like jambalaya that you don't normally find around here. But we have many KFC's here in the states, though they are very dispersed.

I do my best to avoid eating out at fast food restaurants. I eat fast food only if I'm in a place where I can't be picky (foreign country, airports, etc). I stick largely to home cooking on a diet of mostly fish.

That so-called 11 herbs and spices is nothing more than a fancy marketing catchphrase to cover up its basic ingredients of merely flour, salt, black pepper and MSG.

Here in the US, I hear people say frequently how they love eating at KFC.

I generally think they're insane. Not only do I find the flavor to be awful, but they put some sort of solution in all their food (MSG, perhaps?) and I can't eat their food without being ill. Perhaps its regional. It certainly wasn't the case when I was a kid.

Well, I say that, but a week ago I did have a meal from KFC that some one else bought for me. It was the least offensive meal I'd had there in probably 15 years.

I'm a man who love his fried chicken. I look forward to trying Kentucky when I'm in Japan, because it looks different. I highly recommend Popeye's and Church's chicken restaurants when in the US.

    Hi all,

I love KFC, even though their chicken is enhanced and altered through science lol.

@Danny, you said you didn't see a KFC here in the states and asked if we have em...was that a joke? Kentucky Fried Chicken was founded in the USA in 1952 by Colonel Harland Sanders. Obviously in the state of Kentucky.

Its usually safe to assume that most of the giant fast food monsters emerged from the states. We're are impatient and overly-materialstic people after all.

Interesting fact: Wendy's founder Dave Thomas worked at a number of different KFCs before opening his now world famous Wendy's line. Dave Thomas was also from Ohio, woot!

Personally I stopped eating the stuff a long time ago in a campaign to better my health, but I will admit the stuff if friggin delicious.

It is also a heart attack and although I don't like the way they treat the chickens, yet we have dominion over animals- I am not a big fan of corrupt corporations and their bid to make and worship the almighty dollar.

I still eat at Pizza Hut ^^. If Japan has a few then her and I will become VERY good acquaintances. Fast food really is bad for you in excess, and I am cutting it along with soft drinks (Pepsi) from my diet. I have a disease known as hypothyroidism where my metabolism doesn't work properly, so I have to watch exactly what goes down my tube. That menu looks kinda good, as KFC here is a grease-fried mess usually. I still probably wouldn't try it, as I hate pulling meat off of a bone, and I can't really take dark meat and fat/skin mixed in. Incidentally, I remember when I was in Japan for the first time, and my host mother made a crock pot full of "beef with edible bones" as they put it, and I was severely grossed out.

Havent had one since I am in school. We have a competitive in Vancouver towards KFC which is called Church's Chicken. And no, its not a bunch of church people who fried the chickens. Here is a site, www.churchs.com . Its only located in BC, Canada from I believe.

The KFC's here in the Portland metro area are pretty good clean for the most part and they've been opening alot in the area lately but most of them that I've seen lately have become KFC/A&W except one that I know of which is still just a KFC

has that been happening all over or just here?

    @RenYu

I've never seen any locations outside of Greater Vancouver. Is it any good? I haven't tried it.

KFC, where I'm at, is not bad, but occasionally there is bad days when it's rather greasy. The burgers are always good though. I love the Spicy Big Crunch. ^_^

For all the fast food stuff, The Kentucky things are one of the more, how to say... natural. Here we have restaurants of fast food which serves natural sandwiches(not the american style, the bread is the europe type, you know I mean?),and taste REALLY good.

DRAGUN, they renamed KFC into PFC (Poulet Frit Kentucky) here... Thanks to those amusing Quebecers who translate everything!!
There is one near the metro station I often go to, still I never tried KFC in my life and I don't think I'm going to try soon, given that I don't eat outside except for special occasions (which are rare enough).

Hachiko, thanks for the warning, but again I don't think it applies to me. XD

Haha. Those KFC commercials were great. Thanks for sharing.

I would highly recommend against going to any KFC in the U.S. All you need to do as a gently reminder is to look up any 60 Minutes/DateLine, etc. credible source of when they go undercover of what truly goes in any fast food chain and it especially holds true to KFC.

Besides if you want quality fried chicken there are many other better restaurants.

Anyway though I heard the KFC over there does not serve any biscuits similar to the ones in America, but instead donut-shaped pastries with honey in the middle. Is that still true? I still love how you can find the Mr. KFC statues over there.

apparently in vancouver, Church's chicken makes tastier fried chicken? I liked kentucky in Japan! (yum!) In singapore they rebranded it to KFC (as having "fried" in the name doesn't sound very healthy!

KFC is not that bad in California.
Not that I love them, but once in a long while (twice a year) is okay.
They have this oven in Japan uses super heated Steam, and they claim it can squeeze out oil from the super heated steam "baking" process.
One time I use it to re-heat a piece of KFC, I got almost 2 tablespoon of grease from a Original Receipe Thigh. VERY Gross.....

I find it interesting how the menus for American fast food chains in Asia, tend to be better than the menus back in America. I suppose it has to do this the target audience...but still...

As a Kentucky resident, I'll say that KFC isn't the best chicken out there, but a person could do worse trying to get fast food here.

I drive past the KFC mansion everyday since I work nearby. It's the Yum headquarters now so there's nothing interesting there for tourism. However, I've always heard that going to the original restaurant is a fun experience.

KFC in the UK hasn't improved in the last century! The fries are always soggy and taste of plastic. The chicken seems to have been left there for a days gathering dust and being drenched in oil! The menu hasn't changed that much either, apart from adding few salad options and a few lunch box sets!

Prefer KFC Hong kong, though why do they do mash potatoes?? Can't wait to check out japan's!!

KFC in Canada is pretty good, but since were bilingual by law all KFC signs also have PFK on them (poulet frit kentucky) does any other country change the acronym?

Wait- you mean they don't do mash potatoes in other KFCs? lol..

As far as I've seen, the KFCs in Malaysia are crap. The chicken is always small, it's extremely dry, and honestly, I think you can get better Spicy chicken in McD's..

KFC is pretty popular here in the US. It's horribly bad for you, so people are starting to not eat it as much, but the taste is fine. They don't really add much new items to the menu so it gets boring fast.

Most KFCs here are partnered with another chain, like Taco Bell or Pizza Hut, so almost every KFC is half KFC and half Taco Bell/Pizza Hut.

i tried some of that garlic flavored fried chicken while i was in the mall at the shinkansen station in nagasaki before heading off to osaka (after visiting the museum/bomb site)

it was so good that it took my mind off of the saddening experience from an hour earlier. if only i bought my camera sooner, i could've shown the one piece of cartilage or bone, w/e it was that was left over from that piece of chicken.

There are a few KFCs in Kuching. However I enjoy KFC burgers more than their fried chickens. The chicken's so greasy, I'll always get a pounding headache after eating it.
