yes, but it's unhealty to hold back when the body wants to get rid of some gas. It stalls the flow in the stomack. Having an uneven flow can turn into some more serious conditions in the long run. One of the more recent discoveries is that it *might* help against too high blood pressure. One study gave this result and now they want to verify this result. I hope it's true because then if/when you fart, you can just tell people that you are worried about your blood pressure XD
