Figure Displays

For those who ever wondered where FooBarBaz keeps his figure collection - more pics of the shelves he's been buying at his burogu. Each unit of shelves costs 19,800 yen from Rakuten and come complete with earthquake safety poles which prevent the shelf and precious collection from falling over and going poof.
He's also got one of these too.
The lights he fitted were bought seperately and he talks about how he done those.

Those LED bars make me happy, I think they sell those types at Ikea here in the states. I've been meaning to get more shelves for my figures, I've had a PVC female population explosion as of late. ^^;

Nice! Those dispay cases look excellent! Didn't know earthquake-proof cases exist. I think I saw those LED bars one time at Ikea here too. I really, really need to buy a decent display case soon, cause it's a pity to keep everything boxed... :-(

Wish we had these affordable/simple displays over here in Holland.
Really prefer these over the bulky Detolfs...

You can buy similar shelves anywhere, just look for commercial furniture outlets, not retail.
Now, don't expect IKEA prices. If you look at his setup above it is close to 1000$ USD.
And I'm sure that does not include any lighting options yet.

Just buy any IKEA bookcase. Get the proper glass doors, shelves and lighting for them and you're done. It shouldn't be too expensive, I think it depends mostly on the size of the glass doors.

Grr...whish I had the money and space to afford that kind of setup.

oh those lights are awesome, i still need to check out ikea here but it's so far away! I am getting a figure display case from my great aunt who recently passed. She knew i liked it and left it to me and while it's an antique i'm going to retrofit it so it holds figures better.

I'm pretty happy displaying mine on my bookcase, I don't like the glare you often get with cabinet glass and also they are always so big. Still they do look nice, when I have my own house I might get a cabinet if I found one I like, I'll most likely get my man to put up lots of shelves instead though XD

They give any collection a professional look O_O
As for me, I prefer puting them in shelves with lots of manga or in my desktop next to the monitor and the speakers ^^

Very nice, and not too expensive for what you get.
But won't be able to order those... would be too expensive doing so... and unfortunately, I also don't have the space to put them.
But I can't complain about my current display... came with the apartment (rented), and I think it was for drinks or something... it's very display-ish and also has lights on top:

i actually have wondered what his setup was like ^^ I like the idea of those led lights (also makes sense since they won't heat up like regular bulbs) but at least in the pics it looks sort of bluish... gives the case a kind of cold feeling to me ^^;;
That mirrored case looks damn nice but must cost a ton! didn't read carefully so not sure if it was the same case but one of the commenters was throwing around some prices - 6800 (bare bones) - 130000 (w/accessories) yen!

Nice! I've been looking for a case to display mine lately. I've been using a DVD case and the top half to display all my figures (I have too many to fit on my current one now, i need a second case :x)

I don't have any figures, hence never bother to buy cases ^^

His shelves look really nice! i have trouble finding shelves for my growing figure collections. A lot of the curios I see are expensive and made in an old fashion wood style. The only option would be Ikea. I already have 3 Ikea detolf shelves and need more.

That does look nice.
I have pretty much been against LED lights, but maybe they are not so bad if u get white light
I was also looking at little lengthy fluorescent bulbs
I am deffinately going to have to buy one of those in the future.
University Student
Nice find. looks a little bit "cold" imo i would buy black ones with white or blue LED´s but i guess seeing FooBarBaz´s Setup in Real Life is ten times more astonishing -> 3 thumbs up!?! ^_~
Graphic Arts Student
I'd get some of those if I had the space for them.

I prefer to keep my figures in shelves with covers like that because they don't get dusty compare to when you leave them out on desks and such.

Very nice collection, but is amazing that those shelves come are earthquake-proof!
Well, the figures cost a lot of money, is take care of your money, is too much for me.
All my figures are in simple shelves for books, non earthquake or dust protection.

Nice design! Also earthquake proof!!!
Now that's a huge bonus!
The LEDs are too focus for a display like this. You can almost see one shadow per LED on the figure. However, they don't radiate heat and don't burn your precious figures :)
Also, the display is a bit narrow for larger items. A 1/100 gunpla probably won't fit without looking cramped.

Awesome display case! ^_^ Just wish I had room for one, hehe. The only space I have for my models and figures is my bookcase..Now to find a simple display box (the stand alone kind you could put on your desk-ish).

Very cool...
...lighting could use a little work though... those LED strip strips are having trouble penetrating more than about the 3rd shelf. Probably would look better if they were mounted up the side.

Damn, I wish they sell these kinds of shelves here in the Philippines too. I would buy them just because they're earthquake proof. Too me, it's the coolest shelf evar! XD
