Sankaku Complex has more screenshots and the download link for this Strike Witches shooting game called Strike Witches STG for Windows.
The official site says that its a trial version but looks like there is much beef to be had.

Strike Witches STG in action below.

Reminds me a lot of Axelay - my all time fave shooter.

Me dont play games on the computer these days although I did when I first started to use Windows. The first games I played were Tomb Raider and some Star Wars games.
Now I leave my gaming for the consoles - my PS3, Wii or NDS.

Nice! I downloaded as soon as I saw it pop up on Sankaku RSS feed. :P
This updated version is a lot more fun, and definitely contains a lot more play-time.
It'll probably show up at the next Comiket or something... hopefully. :>

And for a person who couldn't afford a gaming system and their numerous games, I game more on the computer, since itself is the gaming console, and I just like PC games. :P

    Really lame for two reasons:

    1) Neuroi's do not shoot like that. So totally unrepresentative of their laser systems.

    2) No pantsu shot. How is it Strike Witches at all without it?

These days gaming on the console is the only way to go. Most games are being developed for consoles first and then ported to PC if they do port at all. Besides a Blizzard game what other games sell in the millions on the PC?

Unfortunately, valve games are barely hitting the 1.5 million mark. The only game that could compete with say Halo 3's sales numbers was Starcraft.

I agree. The controls for such games are better on the PC but there's this RTS game called Tom Clancy's End War that might just change things. It has some voice recognition software to issue commands. Its gonna be multiplatform.

I'd have to say I prefer some games on PC as opposed to console, things like eroge and doujinsoft. They can be and are sometimes ported, but they don't often make it to consoles with their original content intact. It can't really be one or the other, both have great experiences that the other can't fully compensate for.

I never really liked shooting games. The same goes for figthing games (like Street Figther). The funny thing is that I rule at both (at least compared to the people I have seen playing those kind of games a lot).

As for playing games, then I say the computer is the way to go. The reason is that the consoles tend to be fast games and I prefer slow (even turn based) strategy games where you can take a break and think about it (civilization style games and so on). I also like visual novels but I think those are widely available on several platforms.

LOL yea for average folks seeking to have simple fun, consoles and handhelds works very well and easy to manage. But I still prefer gaming on computer, you can awesome graphics effects and better controls/precision with mouse. FPS, MMORPG are my favorites. Fallout 3, Bioshock, Half Life 2, Quake 4, Doom 3, Counter Strike, Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament 3 are just some of the great FPS games that delivers awesome visual effect, gameplay and thrills. For MMORPG, theres tons of those out there, however they take time to play/level, so unless u like the game otherwise it'll be pain lol.

Too many MMORPGs nowadays and too many of them focus on grinding which can get pretty boring at times.

Granado Espada was something different as you control a party and you could leave them on to lvl up while you're away ^^. The game focuses more on quests and such.

The PC is good for gaming but the downside is the frequent need to change your graphics card. My 7600GT which is about 3 generations old won't run most newer games at a decent resolution with smooth frame rates. Using LQ settings only spoils the thrill of the game for me. Need more eye candy =p

Gaming is better on computer IMO because of free independent games. Publishers of hard media are becoming obsolete and distributing a good, free, game, across the internet is very low cost to the developer (and consumer!). Thus consoles are really only if you want to venture into commercial gaming. That's how I see it nowadays. Not to mention many free games are open source and customizable.

Also, I love shmups. I'll have to give this a try sometime.

i'd say console is better but really what you need is the proper control scheme for what you are trying to do. if a game can accomplish something on more than one control interface at the same level, that would be interesting. personally i believe if there are multiple control interfaces, there will always be one that stands out most. next of course, is the actual capabilities of the machine. also how many things that machine does and how well it does them. (and if it is a computer or anything that multitasks, is it multitasking? and how much is it multitasking?)

Reminds me of Aero Fighters~ oh the good ole 90's shoot 'em up games XD

I prefer gaming on PC since i only play combat flight games most of the time. Plus games are much more customizable since one can modify games files.

interesting.. so it is true that only the leader gets to be killed. the game isn't too unbalanced but the mechanics are really fun. i think for balancing issues, they are somewhat close to finish. it's too bad you can't transfer leadership.
for me, i tend to be better with teams C and E. A and D are alright but even being good defensive styles, i end up getting hit anyways.. you guys? anyone good with A/B/D teams?

Saw this @ SankakuComplex (on my RSS reader now... XD) playtested it and made a post too.
It was on my post pool, so just got published a few hours ago:

Feels much like a Touhou game... it's still a little unbalanced, but I think it's already a very nice game. I'm no vertical shooter expert, but seemed fun enough to me. :D
