Japanese Men Cook

i can only cook a few dishes off hand.
but i is a good cook! my grilled cheeses are GOLD!
the trick is honey wheat bread and very little butter:)

well technically spam is already cooked when you buy it so i dont know if it counts as cooking

the hardest thing i can cook is stir fry noodles.the best thing i can cook is noodles

Unfortunately, I can't cook very well. I have made okonomiyaki a few times, but it's nowhere close to how the Japanese do it. I also made a crepe once or twice. Other than that, I can only cook rice with a rice cooker (as I can't do that manually), some soups and a few other dishes. My youngest brother on the other hand can cook. He does various dishes including croquette and lumpia.

I can make some simple Chinese dishes, but I rarely get the opportunity to do so at home.

I often cook & make dishes at home when i get home before me parents...

Im pretty condfident in my cooking skills. Trouble is, its tough to remember the dishes you've made once... I cook mostly Filipino dishes, though i've made some chinese & japanese dishes.

If only i can rememeber the recipes... X'D

I'm trying to learn how to cook better, and its going ok. I know a few Asian dishes, but know Italian food the best, due to it was the food I was raised on and would cook with my parents when I was younger.

Spam is awesome, but I have a fear of cooking meat on my own.

i make mostly breakfast type food like bacon, fried ham, cheese omelettes, etc. I do know how to make pasta and fried rice, but i make it very rarely though, takes too much effort. Mac 'n cheese(KD), instant noodles (the ones in the bags, the noodles taste better to me than the cup ones..), are among those 'packaged goods that u have to cook yourself' food i make often. Then a lot of wierd concoctions of random ingredients my family gets... like ham and watermelon pita lol.

My husband makes really good chicken marsala! and stir-fry salmon. besides those two he usually makes instant ramen or mac n cheese

I cook for me bro too and of course, wash the dishes.

- Mum taught me how to make soup (chinese boiled water and stuff...).
- cook rice. Rice cookers are pretty easy to use ^^;
- Self taught English breakfast, egg, bake beans (added extra sauce), bangers, bacon etc.
- Prepare Ramen (lalamens lol), noodles etc.
- Made sushi too, yum. Need to perfect the rice :P
- Stir some vegi's.
- And other easy meals with the Microwave!

Things I want to learn making is cookies, my bro brought a cookie recipe book ^^
Oh, and a recipe book in making cakes, sweets and such... Must make chocolate shaped sweets! (I'm looking at you Kero-chan!)

I think my husband would enjoy cooking but since I do most of the cooking as I work from home, I appreciate when he helps if we have friends or his siblings over :P I think guys who can cook are cool but I enjoy cooking too ^^;/

Truth is: I'm horrible at cooking... I'm also a 28yr male, only child, who NEVER had to cook 'till he moved to live by himself... 10 months ago. :P

And I have to say the only reason why I'm trying to cook now, is because I LOVE FOOD, as people can see by my member news.

But I'm currently unemployed, and eating everyday out is very expensive, so I have to learn how to cook to save some money.

Anyways, I'm currently the standard bachelor and awful cook... you know, the type who gets some recipe from the Internets, don't follow it through, try to get "creative" with them because of lack of ingredients, and ends up with something that tastes like crap. :P

I cook 4 days out of 7 :)

In my family, my dad is the one who cooks. I love his cooking!

I'm worse than Danny; I can't make half-boiled eggs. *fail* I can make 'em scrambled, sunny-side up and over easy though! Take that!

...My mom keeps trying to get me to cook; I keep wanting to learn to, 'cause in my opinion people who can cook, male or female, are awesome. Unfortunately, I think the University has a secret deal with fast food places going on. They keep assigning me more work so I don't have time to cook. Darn conspiracy.

it's quite funny how many people I know who cannot make rice without a rice cooker

I can cook something that really simple like omelet, boiled egg, fried rice, etc. Somehow, my dishes are always taste like my mom made. (_ _"")

I'm too lazy to try to spend 15-20min+ attempting to make a meal that I would eat in less than 3 or 4 minutes.

I pick (or "graze") on food-like stuff throughout the day, so i subsist entirely on canned/microwaveable/takeout or foods that don't require cooking like sandwiches or ramen ( that I also put a raw egg in, otherwise it feels too brothy...)

If pressed to it, I can use a rice cooker, and have a decent rate of success at cooking rice using a normal pot+water, and I can fry things like eggs (but that rarely goes right).

Hmmm... I don't have much experience in the kitchen but I can hook something up. My childhood dream was to become a cook! :D I'll have to work on it! I remember imagining myself fat with moustache and those white cook clothes.
So what can I cook? Eggs(different types of egg meals, that is), those instant soups or whatever they're called(if that counts) and... maybe that's all. I can't think of anything else right now.

P.S. I too think that men who can cook are cool! So way to go Danny! ^-^

I can cook, but I don't do it as often as I should. There are also a few aspects about cooking that I know nothing about.
I really need to start getting into the habit of making meals, most of the time I just make either some sort of instant food or just throw something into the microwave.

I make my own sushi :D now i am trying to make binto* i think its called or banto the thing in a little box haha you know what i mean?

I by cooking you mean like the stuff you mentioned above then yes i can cook those. Also stuff that you pre-heat oven for and stick in there for several hours. I can kinda make sushi but need more practice. I'm also learning how to make a green bean casserole. Its nice for men to be able to cook, especially if they are a bachelor. I've also noticed that many of the great chefs are men.

Cooking is great and can be a lot of fun. It is especially true when you see the smile of the faces of the ones you're cooking for.

Hmm. Lately, I've been doing pasta dishes and a variety of asian stir-fry vegetable recipes. I would like to try something more risque with some wild Alaskan salmon and either Russel or Red skin potatoes. Served with a fresh side sesame salad.

My chauvinistic asian heritage dictates women should be the ones in the kitchen. I cook well (most than the average of my age at least) AND don't cook sh*t for the men just to spite them.

I like cooking its pretty fun.

Lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, meat loaf, steak.. I have a few that I know without help and others that I need my cookbook for.

I'd been independent since 13yo, so I used to cook for dinner & breakfast everyday with my housemates, feel like a family together, very warmth feeling, but now it's only remain as part of my sweet memory.........

Used to cook dishes covering major Western, Chinese, Italian, & Japanese cuisines. If regarding the savor, I would give myself 6/10 since I ever got the chance to let professional chef to evaluate my cooking.

i may not be the most efficient but if i have a recipe i can generally follow it fine and get decent results ^^; i make curry from time to time but other than that it's been pretty humble... soumen, udon (broth, noodles & naruto... tohoho), soba, chahan...

It's a shame that a lot of urban girls/women these days are inept in the kitchen. The worse part is that they misinterpret gender equality as an 'excuse' to be lazy. We modern men are increasingly more tolerant of performing domestic tasks and in fact in some cases, we excel.

Hence, we pick up our load and they should as well.

I'm a guy and I think male who can cook are great, just picture a guy in an apron...
anyway...I love cooking, although I rarely get the chance to cook in the kitchen though... but when my parents aren't here to cook, I will cook. Love experimenting with different spices and flavours.
I'm not great at cooking... I still burn, overcook or under-cook the food. But that requires experience (which I don't have enough).

There was only one time when I went overboard and added too much stuff which made the fried rice taste weird.. Learned my lesson.

I love cooking. I don't take it very seriously - for example, I've never bought a cooking book whereas I have bought books on things I can't even remotely do, such as Judo! I enjoy doing it most of the time but I'm a very lazy person so it doesn't take much to make me give up and just do something quick, such as Super Noodles or Beans on Toast. Worse still, I'll often just go and get pie and chips rather than even so much as heating something up myself.

That makes it sound like I hardly ever cook but for me it happens when I'm in a particular mood. It might be something that's happened in real life putting me into a particularly good mood, or maybe I get inspired by something I see on TV/film or read in a book/magazine. On a side note, I'm easily inspired to do things by various media - once while reading a Haruki Murakami book, I decided to start smoking some cigarettes (even though I don't usually smoke) and start drinking some whisky (even though I don't really like it) because that's what the main character kept doing. If any of you have seen Never-ending Story, you'll know that the main character tends to eat when the character in the book (Atreyu) eats. I probably got it from that.

All I need is a recipe and ingredients and I'm all good. Although I'm rarely at home and spend most (if not all) my hours in my office.

My sister does most of the cooking, and when I get home which is usually late, there's always enough food for me to eat and packed for tomorrow's lunch.

I used to practice cooking Fly Lice until years ago.. I can cook pan cakes(powder).

I love to cook, so find it strange but it's like a hobby for me. I even watch the Food Channel regularly. I take pride in my food, and a lot of my friends come to my place to eat lol.

I like deep frying stuff like fries and such... Fried rice is easy to make too!

I don't mind cooking fly lice for people to lunch on. That is if they want to ^^;
But I wouldn't say I love to cook.. I prefer doing weird experiments like throwing a bread with a piece of cheese on frypan and try to melt it LOL. It tasted like...some lowly pizza but my mom told me to use an oven instead.

My cooking "skills" pretty much comes down to instant noodles (or any type of noodles) with 2 scrambled/sunny side/hard boiled eggs. Wouldn't last long if I was suddenly to move and live alone.

Lol, I'm a failure as a cook. I once made cookies for friends and the recipe called for one teaspoon of salt, but I misread it and put in a tablespoon. OTL
For the most part, my mom doesn't let me use anything in the kitchen besides the microwave and toaster because she's convinced I'll blow something up. D:

I can cook. Just about any pasta, various stews, soup is easy too, goulash, burgers, stir fry, fried veggies. Really, if there's instructions on how to cook it, I can cook it.

I'm really good at boiling, steaming and frying stuff. I do a lot of BBQing with the roaches I find around my sink at night. Smells terrible but love to see it burn.

Other than the easy ones like instant noodles, pastas and anything I can deep-fry, I had made lamb and salmon steaks before, served with buttered rice.

I sometimes cook, mostly pastas and some other simple dishes. I have yet to learn any Japanese dishes.

Anyways, nice... I just realized that Milk in Thai IS (essentially) Oppai! (My family is Thai, and I haven't noticed that)
Spam is expensive, so I wouldn't do that. But my one pride and joy of cooking, is that I have a stir fried noodle, that I'm able to make out of Thai Instant Noodles (They come with the chili oil, just take it and drain it, then stir fry it), Small Package of Chunk Light Tuna, an Egg, and finally seaweed and furikake. I also like to twist it up with whatever leftovers (hopefully vegetables) that we may have.

being a latch key kid, i had to learn to cook to feed myself since my younger days. as of to date, i can do quite a few chinese dishes, mostly stir fry stuff and the usual 'flied lice'. also i have been told i can do a pretty good spaghetti sauce.

Squeamish me- as long as I don't have to touch meat (excluding stuff like nuggets, sausages), I'm pretty much alright. Probably.

Men who can cook are definitely preferable to those who can't, though if a guy is otherwise great and is willing to learn to cook I can live with that. Especially if he's useful as a helper.

Lately, I've been on a kick of making chili bean omelets w/serrano and jalapeno peppers. I should consider someday using habanero peppers. Yes, I love spicy foods.

That and working in different ways of cooking chicken. Last time, I baked chicken on top of rigatoni covered in a mushroom and onion sauce (from a jar) with grated cheese on top. Could've done better, but it was still good.

its funny you ask... because after living by my self for a while, i realize that i like to cook, not to myself, but for others... the thing is when you live alone, most of the time you are on the budget, or/and don't want buy ingredients to cook besides the fact that you don't want to spent too much time in the kitchen

after a while you go like this... when you are hungry, you eat whatever is easy to make, or take the left overs in the fridge and mix them all in the same pot, add some sauce and thats it... now, if somebody comes to visit me, i will make a banquet...

i can cook ^^ i like to cook ^^ it was rather easy for me lol ^^ i took some classes on some things lol there are allot of dishes i have made ^^ it would take me a while to list them all ^^ but other than that i can cook lol its not that hard lol i have made some hard dishes that others said it was hard but it was easy for me first time lol i guess i am good at it lol.

I can cook moderately well. I'm good at chucking something together and it turning out fine, but i cant follow a recipe to save me life. I'm wierd, i know.

I'd love to learn to cook more dishes, right now I'm limited to basic dishes and for vegetables I have to use precut/prepared ones. Dishes like steak & fries, wok, assorted meats with vegetables I can handle. (But cooking style in European cuisine differs from Asian cuisine though.)

Seriously though, I've always enjoyed messing about in the Kitchen, but it cake, dessert, main course or 'the wroks'. I have recently been experimenting with various styles of bread-making (don't you just love that fresh-baked bread smell?)

I can tell you from experience that being able to cook well is great for impressing Japanese girls. Most Japanese men are pretty terrible at cooking.

If you can charm a girl in the kitchen you should soon find yourself charming her in the bedroom too...

I'm good at cooking pasta with bolognese or napolitana sauce - from scratch, not from a bottle. Barbeque cooking is very easy, anyone can do that and it always tastes better.

I am also good at pikelets or pancakes, steamed puddings, cakes, biscuits, whatever.

I think most ladies are impressed with a man who can cook, so guys, get cooking !!

So my strong points are ribeye steak, macaroni and cheese (baked), chicken bacon alfredo lasagna, and scrambled eggs.

I cook sometimes, but I often don't like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen so I end up making something really random (i.e. mix everything together).

I once made curry tonkatsu meal with a friend of mine, and boy that took us a lot of time and oil! Never thought about that every time I had some in a restaurant back home...

I can cook but not heavy stuff, most likely fried noodle with seafood/chicken, fried rice, etc. Still learning though =p so Im not skillful in this field.

I cook for myself at least three times a week. Favorite things to make are things with a white wine based sauce. They're easy and tasty.

I like to cook and try out making new dishes and stuff. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not so good, but in the end, it's usually me being the guinea pig so it's ok. Instant noodles are so common now that I don't have to think about it since I made it too much at university. I especially like cooking breakfast. For dinner, I'm quite fond of pasta with cream-based sauces, especially cream of mushroom. One thing I really want to get better at is baking and desserts in general. Cookies and stuff are straightforward, but I can never make a cake well. I have succeeded with a souffle once.

I can only do microwave stuff and make sandwiches.

During summer I plan to practice a bit more.

I've never figure out the whole 'Men can't cook' thing. I was a restaurant cook for 10 years and in that time I only worked with 2 women cooks. And, if you look at the fine dinning market it is mostly men you see as head chefs. When I was growing up most of the TV cooking shows were hosted by men, the only women I remember was Julia Child.

I love to cook special dishes for my husband and my family. But, sometimes i feel lazy and made a lot of "instant" dishes as smashes potatoes (puré), instant spaguetti, etc.

My favourite is... Maru-chan soups, the same thing as the cup noodles!

I love cooking. I dont buy or eat ready/instant food or anything changed/altered to improve its flavour. I like natural food, as the good nature already gave us. Mainly vegetables like carrots, onions, garlic, tomato, broccoli. I love rice as well. Mainly I eat baked/boiled fish/shrimp with rice and vegetables sauce I prepare myself.I just use olive oil as I love it. I am good with pasta as well, I cook it sometimes, with vegetables of course ^^

yep I like to cook as well, I think I cook pretty good. most of the time I cook for my parents since I get home before them. I can make alot of mexican food really well. and italian. lasagna is one of my favorite dishes to cook but takes alittle more prep time.

Favorite thing to cook:
1 - Gril a steak (salt/pepper/vegeta* thickness about 1cm)
2 - Cook some spagheti
3 - slice some mushrooms
4 - bake the mushrooms in some creme fresh
5 - dice up the steak (or leave it in one piece whatever floats your boat)
6 - add spagheti and if you diced up the steak to the mushrooms
7 - keep it on low fire for a few minutes (2 is mostly enough just so the flavors mix)
8 - serve it up

*btw vegeta is not just an anime character go to a balkan or turkish store they most likely have it, it's just some seasoning which is pretty salty but makes meat taste super

I have a sweet tooth so I like to bake desserts. Most recently I made a Black Forest Chocolate cake with cherries and whipping cream, drool..

Other than that I usually make cookies. I grew up on a ranch so as long as I have a recepie to follow it isn't that hard for me to cook non dessert items either. I feel like clam chowder right now..

i can cook several things, mostly egg related, such as scrambled eggs, omelettes, i can make a dish in my place called the "pizza mie (pizza noodle) which is also egg related. its instant fried noodles, dipped in an scrambled egg batter which is then poured over a frying pan... its really good

When i have enough time i cook ham and eggs for breakfast. And i know how to cook the basic stuff, but i love fast food and lately i found Nissin products at a supermarket - their Yakisoba tastes so good!

I can cook good enough thanks to my mother teaching me. In the workweeks I cook only for myself and on weekends I sometimes cook for 5-6 people.

I know how to prepare various dishes, but in most of the cases the flavour isn't good -_-

And i cook for a living... Its my day job...

Anyways, i'm a chef, professionally trained in all cuisines even making cakes and baking bread but i still prefer japanese cuisine and its my main forte...

Chef by day, Otaku by night...

Simple stuff like omelettes and congee is within my abilities but really it takes too much effort and the cleaning up......... I rather have takeaway. BTW if a guy does cook for ya despite all those troubles, consider youself loved ^^;;

If I don't cook, I don't get good food. Occasionally, a cheap, easy meal, like instant noodles is fine, but eating too much junk leaves me without that wonderful satisfaction of a real meal.

I can cook just to survive, once I was a better cock. Simply I need to make a little practice again ^__^

p/s - I'm a pretty good cook. Used to do barbecues and lasagnas and whatnot back in the States. And kick-ass chicken-fried steaks. Here in J-town, it's mostly 炒め系, but I occasionally whip up a mean batch of spinach enchiladas with homemade red sauce. Aawww, yeah.

The most daring things ive cooked is either... peking duck orrr roasting a lamb with blackcurrant jam and rosemary on it... (sounds weird but its amazing. both times i took them out of the oven too early (some cooking times suggested are just stupid :S) but it's simple to just put them back in :P learn from your mistakes ;)

I can cook alright now, although there was one time that I burned the noodles for Mac 'n Cheese while boiling them. I wasn't even aware that it was possible to do so, and the pot had black marks from the noodles on the bottom of it for months afterwords no matter how hard I tried to scrub them off.

It's in my opinion that those who cannot cook has no right to judge the quality of the food being served. While I don't practice cooking on a daily basis, I can various dishes given the proper recipe.

men who cant cook arent really lame but the ones who can exerts some kind of 'im a good dad' beam, which ladies see as cool. that's imo, though.
