Figure Releases

A few figure updates for you.
1. FooBarBaz has a review of a revoltech Haruhi bust that comes with a manga called "The Sneaker." The bust is the first of a series of 4 which will all come with different mags. Unjust Area has more pics too.
2. Azure and Resource Busoku both have a review up of the "girl in string bikini" by Solid Theater. Was thinking of getting this one but I think I'll pass.
3. AmiAmi has just uploaded more nose bleeding pics of Sonico. Cant wait. Cant wait.
4. Sakura Nanako from the eroge Sakura Sakura has gone up for pre-order at Hobby Stock where you can see more pics. Retail price is 7,665 yen and is out next Feb by Mega House - more pics at Hobby Stock.
5. Yotsubato has a review of Rin and Miku from Sega which I think are only available from Sega's UFO catchers.
Anything here that tickles your fancy?
Just a quick quesiton about the price of figures, when you order online, are you paying for the retail price + shipping? Or are you paying a discount on the retail price?
For example, the retail price for Nanako is 7,665 yen but shes being sold for 6,515 yen.

Sadly, retail + shipping, a lot of place; even more, unless there's a sale going on or bargain offers
The only place that offers discount even on new items, is Hobbystock, but they don't accept order from Indonesia :(
Seems like most retailers will offer a slight discount on the base unit price, perhaps because they order in bulk from the manufacturer and get a volume discount. After adding in shipping (especially EMS), the final cost may be comparable to plain retail price. That's what I've noticed for importing figures, anyway... domestic online sales may be different.
In other news, this is like the 5th time I've accidentally nuked my comment by clicking "Post Comment" again because I thought that was submit. Would it be possible to have that 'Post Comment' turned invisible after the text entry box opens up so that idiots like me wouldn't end up retyping everything? Either that, or make the Submit button much more prominent.
HAHAHA i do that often as well. Just did it yesterday.
No more NEET, enineering student now...g

Say that it was for figure drawing studies. It's still much better and appropriate than using live subject, right? Right? :D

Nosebleed! ^^
usually discount plus shipping for new items(pre-order), but if I deside to get a older product then it is usually retail plus shipping as some items I want to see the actual thing then deside if I want to buy(things that is released and I see it in shops).
Have to really deside if the item is really Want or really really Need to have it. Can't really spend like some members here do.

Sonico will be a great add to my collection, jeje!
Living in California kills me on shipping... Not only that, a lot of online sellers are in CA, so I end up being taxed as well. It's great.

I like the Sakura Nanako, she's very sweet. I liked the look of the Rin figure too, but then for the detail shots the paint job looked rather rough, that's very off putting.

Sakura Nanako looks really cute. Dont like the quality of the Rin and Miku figures though.
When I order online (pre-roder), the EMS costs + figure price = a few dollars above retail price.

The one of Sakura Nanako is one of the most beautiful figures I have seen in ages.

Oh my goodness, such lovely ladies! I try to but my figs at the lowest prices possible. Thankfully, the shops I frequent sell them at roughly discounted price, with shipping.

Er, nothing for me this time, but the quality of that bust is, do I dare say, horrible?

Sonico for me!! too bad i'm short on cash right now...
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/
Only pre-ordered Sonico from that list, too bad as they all look appealing.
Most often there's a discount off the base price, but the shipping (very oftenly EMS) makes up for the price difference (and then some).

Somehow I don't think those figures could get through customs. About a month ago, I ordered a 'suitable for all ages' doujin by Awatake Takahiro. Characters breasts were all coloured with a blue marker pen. Luckily, Kinokuniya was nice enough to give me a refund:) Sonico? She'd probably arrive here wrapped with layer upon layer of industrial grade masking tape.

I've never had a problem with customs tampering with my imported figures, even the more suggestive designed ones :P

Really? Then perhaps it's just the manga that suffers. Still, with the exchange rate and all, I don't dare><

Malaysian customs seem to be more concerned about printed materials. I recently bought a Dengeki Hobby magazine which had its figure section heavily censored with a black marker.

Thanks for the reviews! I missed them earlier, and was able to let a few guys know that the figures they ordered had some good pics up.

Usually full retail + shipping. But I have gotten some anime dvds below retail price..

So far, I only made one order online... and it didn't arrive just yet.
But it was retail price + shipping... obviously, since I'm on the other side of the world. XD
Made it as a test to compare to figures I buy locally.
It goes something like this: If the final price is just retail + shipping, it'll probably cost less than buying from local importers.
But if there's some sort of tax to pay for it, it'll get more expensive, and thus, not worth the wait.

Fancy is slightly tickled, but I shall resist for now.
I do shop around the online sites to see who has the lower price. Why not, its all the same figure. Question is, will GSC future online shop sell at only at retail or discounted? Hmmmmm?

Sonico was preordered soon as I saw it a week or so ago, wish I saw the bikini figure, oh well, so much stuff on preorder...
http://tenori-taiga.blogspot.com/
it all depends on when and how fast you need the figure
I know a few shops that offer decent prices but they need a month pre-order time like otakufuel.com
a few shops tend to have 'rare' or 'limited' items, but you will pay full retail or even a premium above retail sometimes, and you must still order the item ASAP as stock is small
I personally tend to buy figures in batches, sometimes items I want are sold out by then *sigh*

I prefer super sale/bargain figure like in www.1999.co.jp BUT they didn't accept credit card from Indonesia... (When I was so happy my friend got his citibank credit card....)(>.<)
???Confused???
I buy my figures straight from a store where I can see em...though I wish I was allowed to buy em online to get them faster...
I'm planning to indulge on my first ever figure purchase, because Soniko is such a beauty. Can anyone recommend anywhere reliable to preorder her that will delivery to the UK?
Mad Ero Engineer
Well, the girl in string bikini was shipped days ago, pre-ordered Sonico too, as I loved her WF prototype ( I love Orchid Seed. just got unhappy with Sherrice Elnes-Zerbach because of her non-painted nipples - I painted them myself ahahaha). Usually buy figures with discount over retail price + shipping.

Normally I pre-order if they have a discounted price. Hobby Search charges the shipping fees after the figures get released or in stock, so you don't pay until it's out.
Sonico is already on its way, It was a 'get' since the very first second I saw the preliminary pictures linked from a post of yours ;P
Sakura Nanako looks really cute, might get it, we'll see. There's plenty of space in my new display case to fill with nice figures!
