Figure Box Tower

If you read my The Early Years 1 article you would have seen my bedroom with a load of posters on the ceiling just like Rin's room. Anybody else have posters on the ceiling?
The only poster we have up at the moment is a huge one of Mayu and Reika from Ninomiya-kun.
And as for boxes - takes up too much space for me so they get thrown away. When I move to a new place then the movers will take care of everything and delicately wrap each item - love the service in Japan.
Do movers treat your stuff like dirt or with lurve or do you move yourself? In Japan its the norm to get a company like Ari san to do the moving for you - I've used them twice now.
Original text from Rin below.
Well, I thought I should have some fun with my figure boxes with most of them with figures still inside...
Some of you might say that it's a waste of room keeping the boxes but I say you never know...might move any day or something similar...
If you guys have these figure boxes, would you stack them for just put them in a corner?
Would you also do something artistic like building a tower that reaches the ceiling...
I would like to point out that this is around 50% to 60% of my collection...

Oooo, thats not huge amounts more than my collection(I have 30-something...), but the piled boxes look so impressive! I wish I didn't throw alot of mine away....*sob*
And I thinks movers in the UK would treat stuff like this badly.... if there were no boxes. I've seen the back of moving vans...

I too keep all my boxes - in fact, I keep most of my stuff inside its original box/packaging rather than displaying it, as I have too much stuff to easily setup for display ^^

well i keep the box but i put out figure of it..I think a figure without is box lost is value like the naruto we have that is like #/1000 if we don't have the box for sure it lost value. I still keep them :D would put in a corner ^^

also keep mine in boxes, and stored in a cool, shaded room, so that no problems with bending nor dusts whatsoever. I just usually take some of them out (usually my favorite ones) for display but the rest I store them properly.

Impressive! Not only the boxes, but that ceiling too!
I'll never achieve something like that mainly because most of the figures I bought didn't even came with boxes...
The stores that import them don't keep the boxes because they occupy too much space. And since there's only a few stores in Brazil that import figures, we collectors have to deal with it.
But anyways, I'm running out of space to store the boxes anyways. :P

Neat, you call my room neat...lol!!!
My room is in a bad messy state I say...
If you had saw the condition my room was in when I came back from Japan, that and now, night and day...still, it's a bit messy...
NEET
What I meant neat is the the way you arrange the posters... 1 by 1, side by side. Even when you lying on your bed you can see those nice poster. Somehow this reminds of genshiken when Kousaka and Kasukabe get ready to do their thing... and she noticed the giant life size poster on his ceiling... ^_^
I keep most of my boxes for my figures but sadly almost half of my closet is full of empty boxes or soon will be! XP

Moving companies are a bit too much for our budget, but my family is used to moving and we are experts at moving out. It's not that hard it just takes lots of time (especially when you need to wrap the plates, cups and glass stuff).
btw I would love to decorate my ceiling with posters, but unfortunately my ceiling's all rough and overall crappy.
I throw away because the boxes really take a lot of space and I developed a technique (which is mostly cut and throw ^^U) to keep the figurines protected without the added bulk.

From what I hear from friends, most moving companies here are rather rough with your stuff. If you don't pack well, too bad - there are exceptions for the reputable ones that charge higher rates.

I was so pissed at movers early this year because they managed to get some of my precious artbooks from Japan wet.
Moving service is usually crap in Brazil. Unless you pay premium price for very fancy companies (and I'm not shure about those too, since I never used them).

If my mother saw something like this, she'd probably throw it away like she does to my beverage can towers. I have a box with several dozen old PC game boxes flattened in it, but I've lost many manuals and almost all the bloody cd's as well.
And regarding movers... it depends on how much money you want to "save"--get some shady company to do it for less but risk more damage, or get a respectable company to do it for n times more money but with insurance and good service.

In America, when you move, you're on your own for wrapping things in a nice cushion.
The only thing the movers do for you is move things, that's it.
You tell them "This stuff in the truck, This stuff in this room, etc."
Although they do carry several blankets to cover big furnitures of wood, glass, or anything that can possibly get scratched on the truck. But that's about it. When I moved to my place they broke my aquarium; after they set it on the ground, they tried to shove it from the side with their foot and the glass cracked. They payed for it, or rather it was taken out from their pay, it still sucked.

I've heard some horror stories about using moving companies here in Boise...broken dishes anyone! Missing items and all that good jazz. I've never seen the use of hiring someone to help move when I can just pay my buds in beer and pizza to help move.

I've just rearranged my pile of boxes yesterday....it's about 1/3 of that pile over there.
I've been moved only once, but it's custom to pack everything up yourself, after which the movers move it, semi-delicately....

I kept almost all my boxes, most of the figurines I buy have extra parts you can change so I keep the boxes for those mostly. My poster age I'm long past thought, rooms that are simply plastered with posters look bad in my opinion. I prefer to place them tastefully and frame them.

Sorry Danny, but here in the U.S. theres no way I would trust movers with my stuff. They dont care out here. Especially seeing figures, they would look at them like mere toys and just probably throw them in a box. If you pay for it yeah they might wrap them, but still they would just probably throw them around like crap.

As a very subjective insight about the movers part. I was a mover for my hometown's social service and I got to admit that it wasn't such a nice job. Got to see people in bad shape. Mostly the work was done in a quick in quick out fashion. There were cases where we moved "normal" people and we tried to handle the stuff in a respecting manner. No wrapping though. The less the owners were around the better care we seemed to take of the earthly belongings.
