Japanese Touch Menus

Flappy in Japan has more pics of this device which can be found in some restaurants.
Its an electronic menu with a touch screen. You order your food, stick in the amount of people and it shows the total price. When you place your order and hit send, somebody should come along and bring you water for everybody and proceed to serve food.
The unit is not tied down at all and when I first saw them in restaurants I immediately thought "This system would not work in London ^^;"
I personally prefer these types of menus as I don't like bothering the waiters. Do they have these in your neck of the woods?
Unrelated side question: I'm going to merge the News Item and Article RSS feed - let me know if you would have issues with this.
