Am currently working on some syndication and sharing links on the detail page but before I finalize the design I wanted to get your feedback on how you manage your bookmarks and on what occasion do you bookmark a page.

During my Windows days, I use to keep all bookmarks in IE. When I switched to Firefox, I kept bookmarks in Firefox but then switched to keeping them in del.icio.us.

del.icio.us was quite slow and you had to use a space to separate tags. Google Bookmarks then came along which enabled tagging using commas and was very fast indeed.

Today, I keep my most used bookmarks on my local Firefox and "will maybe need one day" and stock bookmarks all in Google Bookmarks.

I usually bookmark resources like graphics or ecchi content (for dannychoo.com news purposes) to Google Bookmarks.
For stuff that I want to keep myself up to date on, I use a bookmarklet to subscribe to the feed in Google Reader.

If I bookmark something in Firefox, then it would be something that I would want to check every day.

When was the last thing you bookmarked and where did you bookmark it?
How often do you subscribe to an RSS feed? Do you use a bookmarklet or do it manualy?
Where did you bookmark dannychoo.com?

Im planning on putting google RSS subscribe, Add to Facebook and Stumble it icons on the detail pages.

Thanks as always for your feedback in helping designing the user experience for you and fellow users.

And thanks to Azami sensei for doodling this for me - will upload a higher res later.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Japanese Pop Culture category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

    I just keep all my bookmarks in Firefox, slightly organized via different folders. I don't subscribe to any RSS feeds since a) most sites I visit don't use that sort of thing and b) I've just been too lazy to try it out. I guess it would probably be convenient to try something like Google Bookmarks to keep track of all these various art sites I stumble upon instead of impulsively bookmarking them.

    I just put all my bookmarks in firefox because it's quick and easy to access. Open firefox>bookmarks>GO!. I only bookmark stuff that is either resourceful, entertaining, for preference, or just somewhere I check on a regular basis so I don't have to type it out every time. I try not to be too sophisticated with my web sorting and keep things simple. If I want to be lazier, I just drag my favorite sites to the bookmark toolbar so I can do one-click-go! ^^;

    I basically keep all my bookmarks in firefox and organize them in different folders. Will do an export sometimes as a backup just in case I need a reformat. That way I can import them when I am done reformatting or re-import them when I go onto other computers that have firefox. Have tried using del.icio.us sometimes ago and yeah, it was kinda slow.

    I use a combination of GMarks and Foxmarks extensions. They are the best!

    With GMarks you can link with your google bookmarks, you can edit your bookmarks like add, edit and delete(same goes for the tags) then you can sync them with your local bookmarks.

    Then with Foxmarks, it saves your bookmarks online. When your on another firefox browser, you enter your user and password and it syncs all the bookmarks to that client~ Wai~

    Puh, i use Firefox - then have the bookmark symbol menu bar up which does show the folders.
    The folders have names...

    News (world news stuff from the 3D world lol - slashdot and such), WebComics (Applegeeks etc.), Other (currency exchange calculator, online banking, misc stuff), Japan (here goes dc.com, akibanana, j-probe, and sooooooo on in), Figureshops (all online webshops where i can order figures... simple aint it?), figma (all news sites and stuff which go official with figma), Comunitys (twitter, flickr, designologue, colourlovers, gamegirl advance, you get the idea...), WebShops (for everything, mostly clothes), Info (stuff like Wikipedia), Ware~ (version tracker, etc.), Web Related (selfhtml, css sites, etc.), Fun (stuff which made me smirk)

    ... and so on and on.

    Usualy as higher a website is placed in those folders, as more frequently i browse it, since by being placed higher it's closer to the cursor when i open the folder dropdown. As for Japan dc.com is on #1 followed by J-probe, akibanana etc.

    Thats basicaly how i organize my bookmarks.
    Once or twice per year i sort stuff out.

    I usually bookmark manually although i have used int he past a bookmarklet, often use one for subscribing to RSS feeds.

    Dannychoo i currently have bookmarked in firefox with the keyword dan attached to it so as soon as i start typing in firefox dannychoo.com is the first that comes up for the word dan.

    Also a quick question for you danny :) how well does the google bookmarks work is it easy enough to access bookmarks and add new ones to it etc?

    I use firefox, and 'everyday' and 'check for updates' websites are all on the bookmark toolbar. (DC here of course)
    I still don't even really know what an RSS is or how it works, I'm under the assumption it works like a stock ticker with information/news updates etc.

      An Easy way to see the usefullness of RSS feeds is to subscribe to a feed using firefox then drag the feed link to the firefox bookmark toolbar, now you will have a drop down list of the latest news from the site i.e. dannychoo.

    I use del.icio.us for all the important stuff, and Firefox bookmarks for anything else that I might possibly want to come back to in the future. I have assigned a mouse gesture (right, down) to bookmark a page using del.icio.us, which speeds the process up a little.

    I bookmark anything I may have a use for in the future, or need at certain times for something or another such as images. I normally separate them into various categories like everyone else here. I tend to clean out useless bookmarks once every 2 months or so. I only use Firefox bookmarks, never any separate site. Last thing I bookmarked was... Asanon blog due to your earlier news item. ^^;

    Most things nowadays I simply rely on RSS for - dannychoo would be 5th (articles) and 6th (news items) along in my bookmarks toolbar, easy to see updates at any time of the day. ^^

For documentation, I always bookmark it in Firefox for quick reference (much of it is on my local system too, so it's just easier to keep all the links together). Also, I will use Firefox for quick things that I want to remember for later and then probably won't visit again. Everything else goes in delicious, so I can access it from any system anywhere.

    I bookmark whatever I need later on, or whatever I might go back for in a later time.

    I'm actually kinda OC with my bookmarks. I use FF3 and this is how I organize my bookmarks

    I have currently a couple of sub-folders in the Bookmarks Menu.

    There's one folder for clothes- for sites where I might wanna order clothes.

    Avatar sites- links to the pages I might need that are related to the avatar sites I go to (Gaia, Solia, Subeta, etc)

    Sailor Moon- haha, self-explanatory

    Blogs- for blogs that I want to visit and I tend to forget the link

    Entertainment- self-explanatory

    Guides- for tutorials or guidelines

    School- anything academically related (sometimes I mix this up with Guides)

    for Entertainment I have 3 sub-folders- one is Anime, Manga, Videos - for where I can watch or read and Games- uh...there

    I actually still need to sort all my other bookmarks...because I noticed I have so many bookmarks in one folder they may need to be organized AGAIN (put in a subfolder) or there are so many bookmarks that haven't been placed in their proper subfolder yet. I think I'll do this when I'm done with all the stuff I have to do.

    I'm lame and bookmark almost everything directly in my browser. My main bar is stuff I check a lot--email, DA, etc. All my webcomics bookmarks are in a folder in the bar. Everything else is in the bookmarks menu, in different folders--stuff I've researched for my novels, homework bookmarks, a cosplay stash, a case mod stash, and the scarily disorganized "compulsive links" folder.

    On a site I use a lot like DA or Youtube, though, I use the inherent favorites system on that site to keep track of the stuff I like. Cuts down on the scariness level of the compulsive links folder. ^^;

      Yeah, I've been using Chrome more and more lately, and really love that feature. (Gotta love how this site is almost number 1) I kinda wish that the bookmarks used a label system, like in Gmail, so a single site can be in multiple categories. I think that Google Bookmarks has this, but Google Bookmarks and Chrome's bookmarks don't synchronise (you would think they would, seeing as they are both Google things =/)

Although if it gets too crowded, I may just make a blogroll on my blog and put all of the blog sites there as link. Got almost 1000 bookmarks in Firefox now. The bookmarks sidebar search function and the AwesomeBar makes it easy to handle them, so it's totally fine.
