Manga VS Marvel

Picked up a great deal of vocabulary and grammar patterns through reading manga. The first manga I encountered was Ranma 1/2 by Rumiko Takahashi. The kanji had furigana which made it easy to look up new words. My fave was Akane-chan ^^;
When I started to learn Korean, I picked up the Korean version of Ranma at Kyobo Mungo book shop in Seoul which helped me pick up Korean.
Another manga that helped me learn a lot of Japanese was believe it or not was Crayon Shin Chan. A lot of colloquial words that you don't really learn when taking a Japanese course ^^;
I went on to read City Hunter that didnt have furigana on the kanji which was a good test to see how many I could remember.
Remember reading a few marvel comics when I was a wee lad. I know a few folks who are marvel-comic-maniacs who line up to get their copy of an issue when it comes out - never seen otaku line up for manga before.
I personally prefer manga. I just enjoy the art style more. I do love the Marvel films though (Ellen Page looked lovely in X-Men3 ^^;)
