Love Letters eh?
Received one in primary school. It was in a valentines day card. Cant remember much but do remember that the girl ended up giving me bad looks everytime she saw me...

Original text from Lelouch Lamperouge below.

In before someone saying that i've too early for Valentines etc.

So even though many of us are branded as otaku, there is still a point in life wherein you experience what it's like to have felt someone admiring you from a distance most especially during your school days and sometimes some of them go to an extent by sending you a love letter either by inserting one on your locker or inside your bag when you go out to buy some grub on your school canteen.

So question now is...
Back in your school days, how many did you receive or did you got any?
If you were given a chance to reset your life during the period of High School and your status is above average in popularity within your campus then suddenly someone sends you a love letter.
What would you do?

In my case i did receive 2 in my High School life. One i accepted and got hooked up with for 3 months and the other rejected by ripping it to two pieces in-front of the girl. ( sorry for being a bit rude in a sense ). I ripped it since the girl was totally annoying me by saying she likes me so much etc. stuff even though i kept telling her i cant give respond back to her feelings.

Hmm, regardless if she bugged you that much, I still think you took it too far by ripping it up in front of her. You might think it's merely a piece of paper, but it was something she put her feelings into.

I think I got one or two, but that was such a long time ago I don't even remember.

yes i now it was too much. knowing that letters that she created took a lot of effort. i never wanted to do it but she left me with no choice.wish i could describe how annoying it was. To the point that i begged for her not to push further.

Not like what I usually see in anime. About the someone admiring me case... I'm just too insensitive to noticed any...

@Lulu: No matter how annoying that girl is... I don't think it is right to do that. You had probably traumatized her or psychologically wounded her and trust me... She's still remembered you to this very day and waiting to get her revenge or something.

When I was in high school I believe love letters weren't the rage; I've heard of more girls or boys confessing up front (which I think it's still the best -GAR-est- way). I hadn't been interested in anyone, but was never into stationery either. I would now if I knew the guy had more romantic tastes, but the tsundere/yandere in me would rather scream it.

well yeah confessing up front is indeed the nicest way but on the other hand a love letter really has what you can call the savvy factor.

Never got one. I was the perpetual nice friend who you'd talk about everything to but not be interested in romantically. >< As far as I know, that's all I stayed. The one person I did date during my high school years wasn't from my school.

    Besides which, love letters aren't really preferred here. I think it's either because a) it means not having enough guts to say it out front or b) honestly, you don't know if or when they'll get it. 90% of the people I knew either didn't use their lockers or had them so messy they'd never find it. ^^;

Nope, didn't received any while back in school days, although I'm an outstanding person back in school, probably it's because of my average-outlook.
Now had entered social life, the chances of getting a love-letter had vanished, perhaps a face-up confession awaits.
Again, I'm more of a predator & my last confession to a girl was 2months ago (failed... orz)

Properly love letters i only got 2 of them in highschool but there was a girl that i could say stalked me ( take pictures when you are seeing the other way calling me for every stupid thing she wanted to say and things like that ) it was not a letter but the girl one day gave me a letter with a image of me in the body of a superman ( yeah i was like what the hell? ) and because i didnt care about anyone at that time i let it go away like it was a stupid thing later the girl was doing my homework and things like that until one day she make me very angry for spread rumors about me and i put her in ther place ohh man it was such a bother so i can understand the way you ripped the letter in her face ( that can be very usefull to get rid of her )

Nah, never received one... But, I guess the best thing I ever received from a female classmate back in high school was a kiss on a cheek for helping her out in a project. But I never pursued, because I think of her as my "Onee-chan", up until now we are still very good friends and we frequently see each other in our university.(college)

I recieved a love letter back in junior high. Well sort of. It was a girl who was trying to make my friend jealous by hooking up with me. Needless to say, nothing became of it. Though, I admit, I did feel really good when I had received it cause I was a sterotypical loser/geek back then. Stuff like that isn't supposed to happen outside of manga I thought.

You smooth devil you ^_^ But seriously, wouldn't moving to Scotland be like a wetter Japan? You'll still get the midges instead of the mosquitos.

I never had any letters, but in my time, I've had a couple of girls who....pushed themselves on me. For lack of a better expression. There wasn't even a confession really, but they realised I wasn't interested.

Come to think of it, only ever one girl through school I would have said yes to anyway. There seriously wasn't much choice, or perhaps I'm too picky.

Must add that the letter rip was harsh man. If anything my last resort would have been give it back to her and walk away.

I never went to high school, and the only schools I went to before college were religious schools (I was like 12 at the oldest when I went to those). And I consider myself to be attractive (when my skin isn't going crazy from eczema), intelligent (I did start going to college when I was 16, and my GPA has always been between 3.65 and 4), interesting, and I play piano. I've only had one girl try to hook up with me; that relationship lasted 1 week in person and a for few weeks it was a LDR. In that case she was more interested in me than I was in her...of course I have tried to go out with other girls in the past but was always turned down.

I got none. Not bothered by it too much since most of the girls at my school were of the "I'm so hot everyone loves me" mentality.

well... i remember in my early college days, when i used to live in USA, i did receive a love letter...

she was an american girl, and it was cute, because she tried to write a letter in portuguese (I'm from Brazil) using those on-line text translations... although the translation wasn't accrued, overall the full meaning of the letter was understandable... i went to her house, she opens the door, i go inside, and i give her a very warm 5 minutes hug whispering on her ears how thankful i was for her feelings for me.

We did stay together for like 2 months, until i found out that i was only a crush to her, she had i boyfriend and wanted to stay with him... than obviously i broke up with her...(by the way, all the time that we spent together, her boyfriend was traveling).
i guess... the bright side of the story is that, it was fun, and at the end, i wasn't in love with her... she was more a crush too, so i wasn't hurt, more like disappointed...! i feel sorry for her boyfriend tough... what a bitch!

I didn't receive any letter but was plagued by a girl who sat next to me and used to draw hearts with our names/ initials in it. I didn't love her though, and every time i rubbed out the hearts or told her i didn't think of her in that way, she would still draw another one. =_=. thankfully that was the last month in school for me, and i sort of just ignored her.

I wrote them. It was more formal, and I believe they deserved to be treated with grace. Anyone with intellectual prowess will appreciate archaic rituals that make them feel, for a second, out of a fairy tale. Usually, I prefer to design the entire presentation to the person receiving it.
This went to someone I admired in college: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f219/optimusskiver/Picture079.jpg
And this went to my ex (though it wasn't a love letter per se): http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f219/optimusskiver/Picture079.jpg

    The written contents of the letters were very formal, but I really never had the penmanship to prepare the perfect presentation, but none of them had ever really mentioned that portion. I believe people just enjoy letters, because my ex and I still correspond with elaborate decorations and stationary to this day (I have to intercept vibrant pink Hello Kitty envelopes sometimes. O.o). I personally really like letters, because I was a very late adopter into the telephone and internet, so I don't think I've ever really become comfortable with those methods. The only downside is that the price of stamps is just staggering these days. o.o;;;

Never in real life, no, but I've had about 4 or 5 lovemails from e-friends of mine. My love life could actually made a good anime or manga plot, in fact. I'm 11, I fall for this 13yr old guy online, too shy to say so keep dropping hints, he eventually gets it (in the middle of a forum game! =O) but it turns out he loves this other girl. Eventually he leaves the forum I met him on. I start my own site, invite him to the staff, and he eventually joins... just to fall out with one of my assistant admins. Then that assistant admin falls out with my GFXer. Then all three of them admit to loving me! =O Me and the guy go off together, happy ever after? Um... no. See... giving up all hope of ever seeing that guy ever again, I'd wandered off into some chat or other... and ended up in love with a 17yr old. O.o So there I am, trying to tell the three at my site that I had someone... Dx Two of them're still my friends, but the original guy? Disappeared... T_T I'm still with the guy from the chat, by the way. And no, I am not saying their names! Never ever! D=

in my secondary school, instead of love letters (it wasnt considered cool >.> but i think its pretty sweet, my friend did it and he got completely flamed by others) we kinda had this thing where on valentine's day. we can buy a red rose and sent to whoever u want in the school, u can put ur name down or u can leave it as anon...

so in the end, i had 2, 1 was done as more of a joke by some male friends, which was quite amusing as they were trying to set me up with some random girl, and the other i got was anon, and i never found out who gave it to me during my secondary school times (just hope its not a prank from more of my friends :S)

I had a crush on this girl during high school, but I never had the nerve to ask her out. Of all the twisted ironies in life, some other girl sent me a letter via the girl I liked. This girl was just plain fugly and I threw away the note the first chance I got. The next day, my crush came over and asked what my answer was and I said I wasn't looking to be with anybody right now. I saved myself from one pitfall but fell into another when I said that to her meaning if I ever did ask her out I would look like a hypocrite.

I think this girl liked me because she overheard talk about of all things Cowboy Bebop with a friend and she was an otakuette. It was because my early otaku beginnings that caused me to try and avoid this girl for the rest my time in high school.

Never received a love letter. This girl really liked me in primary but she never told me directly and she had her friends tell me instead. Major turnoff for me so rejected her (she was kinda cute, but kinda dumb too).

I don't think anybody here use love letters, at least not in school lockers or anywhere else where other people might see them. Needless to say I never got any.

I recall one time when I was a bit interested in a certain girl from my class. I had the feeling that she was interested in me and eventually some other girl told me she told her. Being young and inexperienced we ended up looking at each other for quite a while (half a year or so) but none of us ever took the step to start talking about it. If I had known what I know today then I would have called her or visited her so we could talk without the class listening. Most likely it wouldn't have changed anything today though.

Love letter isn't common in the state, an upfront confession or intentional flirts, or/and proposing upfront or via a friend. Think I got one in Junior High, but I wasn't sensitive enough to know that yet. So I didn't make any move lol. And then there was one or two in Highschool, didn't take that seriously as well. Gosh when people are young, they don't realize how important everything are. Now I feel I should'a did something back then... Did have a highschool gf for a short while, but that was me asking the girl...College years, down hill from then....

received one when i was 12 from a girl in my class. funny thing was we sat right next to each other for almost a year and we never talked to each other for long. I never bothered to reply though for her defense, she was cute and had a nice personality. One day she decided to call my house and invite me to a post-school dance. I distinctly remember it since my mother answered the phone all excited and crap yelling "Son, it's a girl on the phone". I decided to give it a go and went out with her. Best summer vacation I had in my life, though we both had to give up since we went to different schools later on. What's sad is I never saw her again. Oh well, such is life...

Never got one, because here this costume pratically doesn't exists. But a girl sit down on my lap once (yeah, she was hot), and other told me to close the eyes (I was naive back there), and she (that one was just ok) gave me a kiss (hehe). Also saw a 100% nude girl (she was like 12~14yo) when I called her from WC ( ;-) ) she just come to me nude, and I just watched (baka!). The worst lost oportunity, was another (hot!) who called me for sex (that's right), but I was just around 12~13yo that time and got scared when I fell the pussy smell in the air (yeah, I was a REAL baka back there!). Now I want all that and more, and got none (lmao!).

Funny thing just occurred involving love letters today... =_= Ironically, I know. Well, to be honest, they weren't actually love letters, but still rather intimate in nature to console a dear friend as best I could. But yeah, my friend's now ex girlfriend found the letters and is assuming all sorts of havoc. If I could figure out the post feature, I would so do a post on Epic Failures right now... So now I've caught wind of this through the network, and it doesn't sound at all good... I'm going to try and explain everything I had written, because they were very one-sided when I was in a strange bout of depression, and they are heavily vague as a security measure which ultimately did more harm than good...

I screwed up... =_= I screwed up big time...

    .
This normally seems like such a nice group but, wow, this post has become a real "pity party". So many never got a love letter. THIS is the stereotypical Otaku. Otaku like to think they're unique - but tend to all be the same.

For those who never received - how many have you sent? If none, why not? Fear of rejection? Maybe others feel the same about you? How do you behave? Are you approachable? Many Otaku are not. They radiate "keep away".

Seriously, read some of these comments. A few have other Otaku reaching out with a cheerful "care to dance" only to receive no reply. (>.<) Does the recipient really wonder why others don’t approach? Or are you just teasing – which is cruel. Instead a simple “Thank you. That's so sweet” (^.^) would show you’re compassionate as well as polite.

If you want to receive – GIVE. A gentle, but sincere, note may grow into something wonderful. If rejected, and it was truly sincere, then you've given kindness to the world - and that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Meet love half way. Reach out. If they tear it up consider yourself blessed for not wasting any more of your life on such a heartless individual. And you only have to connect once to forget any previous rejections.

In elementary school I got a few, most of them were innocent except for one that turned into a stalker type of incident... it was bizarre to say the least, and way too high drama for 6th grade...
I got one in Middle School from a guy who said: "I was going to give this to a friend but I wanted you to have it" it was very strange since the guy was just obviously being shy, but still a weird thing to say none the less... I had a friend that liked him and I had no interest so nothing became of it.
I got another one in high school from a guy who already had a girlfriend, they ended up breaking up after she found some emails that he had sent me(I didn't respond to any of them). I kinda ignored him for awhile since I didn't know what else to do, eventually I confronted him after he called my house when I never gave him my number and told him I wasn't interested and that he seriously needed to back off. We're actually friends now though... strange how things work out :)

A love letter never, well one ex-girlfriend of mine did like to give these kind of letters just because she was a bit embarrased to simply talk about her deep feelings. We were already hooked up though. Apart from that I don't think I've ever been admired by girls in highschool, a few that did according to rumors weren't nice girls in my opinion. Unlike most otaku I'm pretty approachable though.

I think the closest thing I got to a love letter was when my first "boyfriend" put a teddy bear on my desk on Valentine's day in middle school. It had a cylinder full of Hershey's kisses and a little typewritten note that just said, "Will you be my valentine?" I kinda went out with him for a couple months after that, but when you have two barely pubescent nerds together the nerd-dom kind of overrides the romance. XD

I once got a love letter from a creepy kid who wanted to be my boyfriend in about 1st or 2nd grade. After that I never received any love letters. Although I used to give love notes to a boy I dated in high school and to my knowledge he still keeps them in a show box. haha

I never wrote one until I befriended who would be my future girlfriend...now ex-girlfriend but still closest friend.
The funny thing was, in middle school I secretly fought with this one artist. I saw a picture on display and I vowed to crush that artist in skill. I found out after the first week of going out with this girl that it was her. ^-^ She liked my competitive spirit and we still challenge each other now and then.

What I would not give for a girl to give me a letter like that.

I received one in highschool. It was incredibly lame and as i was reading it i just thought "Who the F*** still writes notes?" Cause this was the first time since middle school I've seen this happen. The note read "I really like you and I would like to get to know you better. Want to hang out? Yes/No" I threw that thing out and he sat behind me and kept pestering me for an answer so i turned around and said "No" and when he kept pestering me for an answer as to why I ignored him and he called me a B**** and never sat behind me again. Really I wouldnt ever consider someone who wouldnt ask me out at least over the phone.

Never got a letter during school. Had a girl that kept saying "Hi" to me back in middle school, but she moved to Tracy shortly after and I never saw her again. Yeah, sad.

I'd be surprised if I got a love letter. I'm more of the silent big brother type when I was with friends. When I talked, they had to listen because it was usually important.

Recently, there is this girl whom I liked for the past 4 months. I sincerely like her to the depth of my heart. But I'm too shy of a person to ask her out. Anyway, I think she may be liking me as she shows signs like peeping at me in class and talking softly while I'm around though she is actually a really loud person. But somehow, she sits beside this guy who has a great personality in class for a period of time. After we moved back to our original positions, she started taking notice of that guy more.I felt jealous.

Okay, here's the point. Recently, she and her friends wrote a FAKE love letter. The first person she thought of pranking was that guy I was talking bout. The question I want to ask is. Does that mean that she like that guy and wants to know how he feels bout her? Or is she just pranking those friends and is too shy to take that prank on me(if she likes me). I need some advices. Thanks.

I only got one while in High School. It was from some girl that I barely knew in my history class. I Kinda just brushed it off to the side and left it alone til she confronted me about it.

    My answer: "No, I'm sorry."

She asked me why and I replied, "I'm busy with my studies."

God knows that I never study and that I was a below-average student... and I'm pretty sure she knew that too. When I look back on it, I feel kinda sorry for being such a dick. :\
