Achtung! - some may consider this a spoiler.
So how did you like the first EP of Linebarells?
Did it not have a great scenario?
Boy takes a detour through a park and a mecha falls out of the sky and nearly crushes him.
Boy goes flying through the air from the impact of the mecha and wakes up with his head resting on the soft big eyes of a stark nekkid gorgeous girl who cant remember anything.
Boy discovers 15 mins later that he has incredible power and can pilot the mecha...

The CG scenes were good and although some of the animation was dodgy, I'm still going to give it a chance but mostly for the girls with lovely eyes.

Ditto. Even ignoring how terrible it mangles the manga, I'd only give it a 'mediocre' at best. the 3DCG animation is outright bad, the fight scenes are terrible (a surprise, given how well Kawamori did with Frontier), the main character is abrasive and irritating, and the situation is entirely generic. Not even worth watching episode 2.

agreed. it's not very bad, but somehow I didn't like the main character. that puts me off big time.

Going off of what ANN says is stupid. They judge a whole series by 1 episode and can't even make decent character comparisons. I remember reading a review from them about an anime and they gave it a 2 because after 1 episode we don't know much about the story or characters. That being said Linebarrels does suck.

still, its the 1st episode and I'll just watch and see if the upcoming episodes gets better. ^^

lol same, i picked this series up for those blockbusting seiyú in this series and i was really damn dispointted...but this series just a total clone of Evangelion (just like Raxephon), im a huge eva fan but this is damnright baaad. animation was below average, main character is like shinji from Eva but more damn unpredictable, 1 min total loser next min total pain in the back side...

that aside, Emi was well done as a character, so i'd give it another few more ep

    I liked it. A lot.

As far as I'm concerned, this beats out Gundam 00 Season 2's first episode. I'm hoping we'll get the explanation of why it looks like the guy got impaled (all that blood on his front and back for 3/4 of the episode). The robot designs are cool. The CG animation (for once) is easy to watch and really looks unique. I like the way the buildings and whatnot crumbled, and even how the smoke was handled. I nice effort by the animation studio. Finally a show I might be able to get excited about.

IMO it is not the worst thing ever but it's not good, bad music, the battles in 3d was pretty lame too like something from 5 years ago, the desings are not that bad but they are not good either and i think no body likes that protagonist, there are better series this season than this Gundam 00 being the best.

i don't like it. they mangled and plot twisted it to hell. same thing with Blade of the Immortal, i loved that manga and it's fights/plots, bleh. Why don't they stick to the plot somewhat? I'm sure we're not even asking for a 100% similarity but something along the lines of what we see in the manga is good...

I don't know anything about this anime nor the manga. As cool as the mechs look, there are a few things turning me away from this anime...

    1. The plot is damn generic... as far as I heard.
    2. The characters reek of Gundam SEED so I checked who the character designer is... and yup, it's the same person who designed the SEED characters. ARTIST WITH NO RANGE. You can clearly see Murrue Ramius on Linebarrels' front page!
    3. I'm still a bit scarred about CG animations after SRW Divine Wars
    4. ALI PROJECT

I might watch it just to see if I can get a good chuckle out of hearing Lelouch or Haruhi talking in this anime.

I can't remember another male lead I hated more than Kouichi. Maybe Makoto from School Days. But yeah... a male lead who's the timid wuss suddenly obtains power and becomes a jerk. I'm not seeing any winning material here.

The fight scene would have been better if Linebarrel was something like Karas... unfortunately, it's not, and the machines move as though they ignore the laws of gravity COMPLETELY.

Well, mysterious origins aside, let's wait till episode 2. They really did a good job of carrying the main character's personality over; by the end of it, I swear I could see Shinn Asuka in him.

I don't think he's an ass really, I mean, all kids/teens who are picked on want to be someone stronger to tell them off. I know I did, b/c I had that period of time.

Shin was one REALLY lost soul -I mean, dude. he blamed almost EVERYONE for his misfortunes. If he was a real person, he would probably blame the director of Destiny for making him so crappy.

I admit that my opinion was a little unfair, ok he is not an ass but he is really annoying , i was picked by others too and who doesnt want to become stronger? but what i meant is that the guy is not even a good character.

Well shinn was a really lost soul but the situation was diferent the guy had issues and i at least think that he had reasons and yes he would probably blame the director for everything.

The mechas move that particular way because they were ripped off designs of the Orbital Frames from Zone of the Enders. I mean, the lead mecha is basically a bulked up Jehuty with 2 blades. Not to mention the other mecha that is a blue-colored Anubis.

I fail to see the rip off when it's the same mechanical designer. And Jehuty is far less bulkier and much more organic looking. Orbital Frames are very sleek, even gigantic ones like the Tyrant, while Linebarrel mecha are all very bulky and have more conventional weaponry. Similar but different enough. Thing like panel lines, curves, surfaces et all are vastly different as are key features likes the cockpit and head.

Um, the mecha designs in ZOE is done by Yoji Shinkawa, while Tsutomu Suzuki did Linebarrel. Either that or i'm getting the wrong info.

The original Manga designs are by the same guy, there's no doubt on that. You're probably referring to the Anime's designer.

The only thing that made me watch the first episode was because I saw a figure of the robot in one of Danny's post and I got quite impressed by the design. But after I saw the anime I decided to quit it... mainly because of the main char.

I thought this one stunck out loud. The "hero" is such a loser I quit watching halfway when he didn't die. This kind of loser never seems to die. The girls were ok. Animation and artwork so-so.
I rate this one as 'Bleah'.
