Tora Dora

So many shows of the new anime season have started and I'm going though some of them at the moment.
The animation quality in Tora Dora is good and many of the girls are cute too but I stopped watching before it finished - was I the only one?

I really didn't like Taiga at all who really annoyed me with her mindless violent behavior. All she seemed to be doing is hitting people or breaking things. Not cute at all.
For me this show is complete fail. Still like the figure though.

I saw many of you liked it from the puchi blurbs but also read other opinions of fail on some anime burogu's.

Aisaka is one of the cuter things I've seen all year. I want to pick her up and play catch with her, or something.

Managed to get up to the scene where she rolls out of the cabinet? If I hadn't been liking the show (which I was), that would've been enough to make me watch the rest. Yes, I'm gullible and anime girls own my soul ^_^

First episode was better than I expected. I'm not really a fan of Taiga but I enjoyed Ryuji (I laughed with his scary face in front of the board). I've read the manga : the relationship between Taiga and Ryuji is quite funny, maybe I'll watch some more episodes.

I love Aisaka. I'd pick her over Louise anyday. If any character fits what you are describing Danny, it'd be her. Think about it, she calls Saito a "stupid dog" and beats him almost everyday, and most which aren't his fault. However, if she beats him up and yet calls him a stupid dog, does that mean she also beats "real" dogs as well?

Louise has to be one of my most disliked characters ever. I normally don't like tsundere at ALL, unless it's a controlled amount. However, being one who has read the manga for ToraDora, she becomes much better later on, so it's not really another "loli tsundere beating the crap out of the guy" anime. I also find Rie's voice for Aisaka very good, and the Ryuuji's to be exceptional.

I still lol'd at GG Fansubs on this though,

    Original : "いい!や!だ!"
    ggkthx : NO FU**ING WAY!

But yeah, she gets better later on the series. I thought Rie Kugimiya was gonna be another Lousise voiceover again (since I read a bit of the manga and light novel to know it's not your typical tsundere), but I guess she attempted to be more menacing which I found surprising if you don't factor in the time she's upset.
To me, this kinda broke the whole stereotypical "here's guy and here's girl. they'll fall in love in about... 10-15 minutes", yet they changed that up a bit by making them friends and let that develop from there. So I'm gonna continue the series and try continuing on the light novels too since they're really good.

I think I'll stick with it, she might be truly annoying like everyone is saying but I guess that's what makes it interesting. How much can that guy take? It would have helped if she didn't have a voice actor who seems to be typecast in this sort of roll, it's like the same character again in another show. :-/ Though I actually kind of like how violent she is... ... ...

Watched the first ep of the anime and loved it (8.7/10), though it seemed as if they were rushing the first ep, too bad its probably going to be either a 11 or 13 ep anime.

Aww... i think you should have finished it.
Yes... Ai Saka's violent way is a bit harsh, specialy the amount they push out right in the first episode... but then again it has something to it.
    I just loved that "tenori taiga" part... lol... i mean - comon that was epic. ^^;
I think in the end she was a bit cute... not much though, more of a tomboy then anything else.
But hey, i'm tomboyish myself so i shouldn't complain about Ai Saka who is more of a girl then me, she does at least wear skirts haha.

it's funny, but I don't like tsundere things.... I am probably going to stop watching it, b/c it is probably going towards school/romance/comedy, one of the three specific genre combinations that I really despise (for instance, school rumble had some good stuff, but overall, the romance parts really pissed me off).

But yea, I was like, why does she have a small tiger on her hand, and episode one definitely solved that puzzle...

I forgot to mention that the 'Tsundere' character type is one of my faves. An oldie but a goodie. However, I would rather have another Seiyu try voicing Taiga. I just keep getting flashbacks of Louise and Shana. :)

I loved the first episode! I didn't think it mindless, I thought it delightfully random. An unknown motive..and I'm curious what her back story is. Where are her parents? why does she live alone? I thought it hilarious that she lives in the next window over from the main character guy.

Just wanted to say Danny's take on Toradora was too rushed. I always watch an anime for at least 3 episodes before I judge it. True she was violent in the first episode but you can't judge an entire season on just that. The second episode is nothing like the first in that regard.

While I found Taiga supremely annoying, I enjoyed the heck out of the first episode.

The characters are shaping up to be more than just cliches, which is why I was able to put up with it, so I expect the annoyance provided by Taiga to be severely reduced in the future (and, indeed, that's what those who've read the novels tell me I can look forward to).

I have a hard time rating this show. It was very up and down for me (easiest way to explain with out going into too much detail). I do tend to agree that the Taiga character was a tad annoying, but I also realize that this is just the first eps and they have yet to really show the other side of her. True, first impressions go a long way, but I'm willing to give it another shot. If the next ep is more of the same, I'm dropping it. BTW Danny, I'm also watching all of the new fall shows, what are your thoughts on those so far?

I've been reading the manga and waited its latest release for ages!!! Seeing the animé is quite sad, the manga art is better, the sequence in manga is better, only one thing did they fulfill, Taiga=Louise!!! Yeah, I've been saying to myself Shana's/Lousie's seiyuu suits Taiga if its in anime. Honestly, it is a good idea that they rumble or sorts the sequence of the story in contrast with the manga. This way, it is not boring to follow either of the two category.

ToraDora was the first anime that I saw for this season and I loved it. Maybe because i read the manga before i was able to follow along the first episode in its entirety. The quality was awesome and the Ed was captivating. But, i showed to my sister and she said the same, Taiga has issues hitting people but then it lessen when she was blushing more towards the ending. I Definitely recommended, just bear with it and you'll laugh sooner or later.

I enjoyed the first two episodes. I'm already liking a few of the new series, but my wife (who is Japanese, but not a big anime fan) only liked this one. She likes school settings and comedies, so it makes sense that she'd be interested in this one. I do think the relationship between Taiga and Ryuuji was pretty interesting. I didn't get the feeling that Taiga was that violent, just having similar problems to Ryuuji in fitting in and expressing herself by being a bit outrageous. I think episode 2 helped reaffirm that relationship a lot.

Trust me considering the manga, and the light novels. It gets better, and Taiga isn't that flat of a character.

Wow, really? I guess I'm the opposite of you, Danny. I thought Taiga was really cute and I like her a lot.

At first I didn't think Taiga was so cute either but the more I got into the anime, the cuter she got. Later in the anime, she hurts people less and breaks thing less too. But I also think that seeing Taiga is kind of an acquired taste.

Ok, just finished the series... gotta say loved it. In fact, it sits on my favourites list for anime. Just loved the way the story unfolded.
