What do Sumo wrestlers do on their time off? They take their babies and make em cry - who ever cries the loudest wins. Not only is this supposed to bring on good luck, it also brings on a sore throat for the baby and sore ears for everybody else. Seems pretty evil to me.

Another funky contest from our Japanese friends... Sumos are considered living gods there, right?

I heard that sumos are good fathers... Any way to confirm it?

Maybe they want their babies to cry for them to express themselves (show that they are healthy)?

Lots of questions, I know... Answers would be appreciated.

Oh, I heard of this before. I think its pretty evil how they do that...maybe its to scare away evil with all that crying. I know I read that they sometimes have ties for that contest but I forget what they do to determine the winner.

Babies cry all the time and usually it's pretty annoying, so why would they want to make them cry on purpose? When they're quiet, you need to enjoy it while it lasts. It seems like a strange custom.
